\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Many of you have heard\r\nme say the following statements in the past, but for the sake of today\u2019s\r\nsharing, it is imperative that they be shared again.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nBody of Christ has been through several generations of teaching and learning\r\nwhat I have come to call \"escapism.\"\u00a0\r\n<\/span>Escapist doctrines are those which permit God's people to \"hang\r\non\" by the skin of their teeth with salvation and baptism doctrines, waiting\r\nfor that day when they will be \"changed in the twinkling of an eye,\"\r\nand raptured out of here.\u00a0 <\/span>Escapist\r\ndoctrines do not teach or recognize the necessity of thlipsis<\/span><\/i>.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/b>They present no understanding of\r\nthe need for overcoming.\u00a0 <\/span>They encourage\r\nlooking for that \"last trumpet\" to blow so Christians can be snatched\r\nout of this world, away from the doom and gloom to come.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\n\u00a0 <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

These\r\ndoctrines are foreign to everything Jesus lived and demonstrated before His\r\npeople.\u00a0 <\/span>A \"rapture,\" (at least\r\nwithin the context of most contemporary teaching) in the event such a thing\r\nwere to happen, should never become a goal, a focus of attention or objective\r\nin the purposes of the Bride.\u00a0 <\/span>Being\r\n\"zapped\" and suddenly changed or conformed to the image of Christ is\r\nthe very antithesis of Jesus' whole onoma<\/span><\/i>.<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

People\r\nwho live this way wind up being cheated out of the glory that is to come, never\r\nmind the glory of His presence in this present age.\u00a0 <\/span>They also succumb to a deceitful trick of\r\nSatan designed to keep Jesus Christ from ever receiving \"His inheritance\r\nin the saints.\"\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\n\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

What\r\nis<\/b> His inheritance?\u00a0 <\/span>A Bride who\r\nhas walked with Him!\u00a0 <\/span>A Bride who has\r\nwalked in the same path He walked; who has learned through the things she has\r\nlikewise suffered; who has overcome every obstacle in her path to become His\r\nco-equal Counterpart, His Other Self; who has become One with Him in every\r\naspect of her existence; whose onoma<\/span><\/i><\/b>\r\nhas been changed and molded with His new onoma<\/span><\/i><\/b>--\r\nin other words, one whose breath, whose heartbeat, whose every cell and corpuscle,\r\nwhose very existence brings pleasure, delight to Him, and fellowships with Him at\r\nHis peer level<\/u>.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

In\r\na previous article entitled, \"It is Finished,\" we talked about the\r\nfact that all Creation came into existence for the sole purpose of bringing\r\ninto being a people who would complement Jesus Christ, a people who would go\r\nthrough all that He went through, and choose Him in the midst of overcoming the\r\nworld, the desires of the flesh and the obstacles of the spirit.\u00a0 <\/span>This world has simply served as a working\r\nlaboratory in order that His heart's desires and objectives could be achieved.\u00a0 <\/span>The laboratory is not the end of things; it\r\nhas simply been the domain in which His objectives could be achieved, perfected\r\nand completed.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Having\r\novercome all, Jesus inherited the Throne which was His Father's good pleasure\r\nto give.\u00a0 <\/span>Consider now the promise that\r\nJohn heard, <\/span>\"And I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first\r\nheaven and first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea.\u00a0 <\/span>And I saw the holy city, New Jerusalem,\r\ncoming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband..............And\r\nHe who sits upon the throne said, 'Behold I am making all things\r\nnew.'.........He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God\r\nand he will be My son.\" (see Revelation 21:1-7) NASB <\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u201cAnd one of the seven angels........spoke with me, saying, 'Come\r\nhere, and I shall show you the Bride, the wife of the Lamb.'\u00a0 <\/span>And he carried me away in the Spirit to a\r\ngreat and high mountain, and showed me the holy city, Jerusalem, coming down\r\nout of heaven from God, having the glory of God.\u00a0 <\/span>Her brilliance was like a very costly stone,\r\nas a stone of crystal-clear jasper..........<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

....And I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God, the Almighty,\r\nand the Lamb, are its temple.\u00a0 <\/span>And the\r\ncity has no need of the sun or of the moon to shine upon it, for the glory of\r\nGod has illumined it, and its lamp is the Lamb.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>And the nations shall walk by its light, and the kings of the earth\r\nshall bring their glory into it........Its gates shall never be closed; and\r\nthey shall bring the glory and the honor of the nations into\r\nit......\"\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>(<\/span>see Revelation 21:9-26) NASB<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

That\r\nis the rulership of the Throne!\u00a0 <\/span>That is\r\nthe glory reserved for the Bride.\u00a0 <\/span>That\r\nis the final place of the overcomer.\u00a0 <\/span>There\r\ncan be no other destiny for those who overcome, even as Jesus Christ also\r\novercame.<\/b>\u00a0 <\/span>But it began (and must\r\nbegin) in this present day and age, and in our present circumstances.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

My\r\nbrethren!\u00a0 <\/span>My sisters!\u00a0 <\/span>All those of you to whom the Lord has joined\r\nus within the Ekklesia!\u00a0 <\/span>Allow nothing to\r\nstand in your path.\u00a0 <\/span>There is no obstacle\r\nyou cannot overcome, because Jesus first overcame!\u00a0 <\/span>There is no spirit of the Enemy you cannot\r\nconquer and dethrone.\u00a0 <\/span>By the same token,\r\nthere is no spirit you can ignore, whitewash, or gloss over.\u00a0 <\/span>There has been no temptation to come your way\r\nwhich is more than you can deal with, that Jesus did not first overcome.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nthrone awaits!\u00a0 <\/span>The crown awaits!\u00a0 <\/span>Being a part of the living, intimate Bride of\r\nChrist awaits!\u00a0 <\/span>But you must take the\r\nThrone -- NOW!!!<\/b>\u00a0 <\/span>You must\r\novercome -- NOW!!!<\/b>\u00a0 <\/span>Although the\r\nThrone of the Lord Jesus Christ will cost you everything, there is no price you\r\ncan pay that you will ever regret!<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

It\r\nhas cost Della and me EVGERYTHING from time to time throughout the 37-plus\r\nyears we\u2019ve been married.\u00a0 <\/span>We have no\r\nregrets.\u00a0 <\/span>There is nothing that we\u2019ve\r\nlost \u2014 including our reputations \u2014 that the Lord has not restored!\u00a0 <\/span>We have come through it all better seasoned\r\nand stronger than ever.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>We have learned\r\nwhat it means to rule, and we are still learning!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Let\r\nme steer this discussion differently for a bit.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

One\r\nof the biggest keys to ruling and reigning with the Lord is understanding the\r\ndifference between relying on the Law and listening to Holy Spirit.\u00a0 <\/span>In his letter to the Hebrews, Paul lays out\r\nseveral issues where God\u2019s people tend to think legalistically.\u00a0 <\/span>They try to repeat principles of the past\r\ninstead of thinking with the present and the future and what God is saying NOW!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

We\u2019ve\r\ntalked about these things in bygone years, but it\u2019s time to look at them again\r\nwithin the context of ruling and reigning with the Lord.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Let\u2019s\r\nbegin with what Paul wrote to the Hebrews:<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Hebrews 6:1-3<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/b>\u201cTherefore\r\nleaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection;\r\nnot laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith\r\ntoward God, Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of\r\nresurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. And this will we do, if God\r\npermit.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\r\n

<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

I\r\nknow that one\u2019s initial reaction to this scripture could easily be, \u201cWhat does\r\nany of this have to do with ruling and reigning with Jesus Christ?\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>The simple answer is that if we continue with\r\nthese doctrines, we are living in the past.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>That essentially means we are relying on the Law \u2014 New Testament Law,\r\nperhaps, but Law nevertheless.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\n\u00a0 <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

We\r\nare not designed that way, and we cannot live in the past.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Living in and walking in the Spirit is a\r\ntotally NOW, daily and momentary event in God!<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

I\r\nhave felt like we really need to understand the true nature of these\r\nfoundations \u2014<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\r\n\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

(1) <\/span><\/b>repentance\r\nfrom dead works, <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

(2) <\/span><\/b>faith\r\ntoward God, <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

(3) <\/span><\/b>the\r\ndoctrine (or teaching) of baptisms, <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

(4) <\/span><\/b>laying\r\non of hands, <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

(5) <\/span><\/b>resurrection\r\nof the dead, and <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

(6) <\/span><\/b>eternal\r\njudgment \u2014 in order for us to progress from the growing up place as teknons<\/span><\/i><\/b>to becoming fully grown and matured\r\nhuios<\/span><\/i><\/b>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Because\r\nof the realm of the spirit that we enter into as fully grown and mature\r\nbelievers, and the enormous responsibility that comes with it, Paul makes it\r\nabundantly clear that we don\u2019t get to \u201cgo on to perfection\u201d without God\u2019s\r\nspecific permission.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n

<\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nrealm of the spirit we enter into as matured believers brings with it enormous\r\ncapabilities, stupendous access to the Heavenlies, and operation in the realm\r\nof power that has eternal consequences.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>That, my friends, is the realm of ruling in and with Christ Jesus!<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

It\r\nisn\u2019t because God is trying to hold something back from us out of some agenda\r\nof personal preference; it\u2019s for the sake of our spiritual protection and His\r\nlove for us that He withholds this realm until the foundations are properly\r\nlaid.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

With\r\nthat said, let\u2019s take a deeper look at what Paul is saying.\u00a0 <\/span>Both the original Greek text and the Aramaic\r\ntext put these statements in a clearer and much more detailed realm of\r\nunderstanding.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Hebrews 6:1-3, RAC Translation & Amplification<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/b>Therefore, and as a\r\nconsequence, it is critically important that we forsake [what\u00a0 <\/span>Jesus has already eradicated from existence]\r\nthe beginnings and commencement of the [initiating] Word of the Anointed One\r\nand His Anointing (Jesus Christ), <\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Let us move forward energetically to the place of completion and\r\nconsummation; not laying down [or setting in front of you as a continual\r\nrequirement] the legalistic requirement to repent, and re-do your thought\r\nprocesses concerning the old, dead works and requirements of the Law [as though\r\nit were necessary in order to attain redemption from past sins or iniquities], <\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Under the guise that this builds faith in and toward God, the\r\nline-upon-line, precept-upon-precept instruction in the purification processes\r\nin baptisms, the necessity of laying on of hands (for impartation or conveyance\r\nof power), [the foundational truth that Jesus provides] resurrection from the\r\ndead and cancelation of the curse of death, and \u2014 finally \u2014 the understanding\r\nand revelation of the judgment and decrees that exist throughout the eternity\r\nof the eternities.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

And this is what we will be enabled to do conditional upon God\u2019s\r\ntransfer of authority, granting license and liberty to move past these\r\nfoundations.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

To\r\nplace Paul\u2019s statements in context, it is\u00a0\u00a0\r\n<\/span>important to remember that he was writing to Jewish Christians who had\r\ngrown up under, and subject to, the Law of Moses.\u00a0 <\/span>For them to walk and live and grow up IN CHRIST\r\n\u2014 never mind having Christ in them \u2014 they needed to totally free from the Law\r\nand its constraints.\u00a0 <\/span>They needed to\r\nunderstand that Jesus was the complete fulfillment of the Law, and that no\r\naspect of the Law could be alive in them, their thinking, or their behavior.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

When\r\nPaul begins his discourse, he identifies six specific areas of legalistic\r\nunderstanding they have grown up with (and I will label them as they understood\r\nthem):<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

(1)<\/span>\u00a0Atonement for sins<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

(2)<\/span>\u00a0Trusting God\r\n(albeit from a place of fear)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

(3)<\/span>\u00a0The washing of\r\nhands and\/or baptism as an act of separation from uncleanness<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

(4)<\/span>\u00a0The laying on of\r\nhands (from the perspective of prophetic anointing)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

(5)<\/span>\u00a0Resurrection of the\r\ndead (viewed as an act only after the coming of Messiah, and ONLY for the purpose\r\nof being judged by God<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

(6)<\/span>\u00a0Eternal judgment\r\n(as being cast off from God)<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

We\r\nare going to try and just deal with the first aspect of this \u201cleaving behind\u201d\r\ntoday: NOT revisiting and reenacting the dead works of the Law.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nJewish Christians were not \u2014 and are not \u2014 the only people who still live their\r\nlives continuing to apply the law (or even modern man-made laws) to themselves\r\nas believers.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Religion\r\nhas become so intertwined into the modern life of Christians that they don\u2019t\r\nrealize just how much of their lives are operating in a sub-standard mode.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Religion\r\nplaces performance standards and a set of measurements that folks have to live\r\nup to that have absolutely nothing to do with our progress in God.\u00a0 <\/span>Let me give you a few examples:<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

1.<\/span>\u00a0Don\u2019t smoke.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

2.<\/span>\u00a0Don\u2019t drink wine,\r\nbeer or hard liquor.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

3.<\/span>\u00a0Don\u2019t go to dances.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

4.<\/span>\u00a0Don\u2019t frequent the\r\ntheaters, watch movies \u2014 even television is bad for you.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

5.<\/span>\u00a0Ladies, make sure\r\nyou wear long dresses.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

6.<\/span>\u00a0It is improper for\r\nwomen to wear pants because they will look like men.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

1.<\/span>\u00a0No wearing of\r\njewelry.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

2.<\/span>\u00a0No fancy hairstyles\r\n\u2014 women should keep their hair plain.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

3.<\/span>\u00a0When you pray, make\r\nsure you pray on your knees.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

4.<\/span>\u00a0You must attend\r\nchurch on Sunday morning, Sunday Evening, and either Tuesday or Wednesday night\r\nfor Bible Study.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

This\r\nlist could go on and on and on, but you get the idea.\u00a0 <\/span>Nowhere in the Word do you find any of these\r\nthings.\u00a0 <\/span>None of these things are a\r\nmeasure of holiness, and none of these things have anything to do with one\u2019s\r\nrelationship with the Lord \u2014 and here\u2019s the caveat: UNLESS Holy Spirit says so\r\npersonally to them!<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

You\r\nget it don\u2019t you?<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

What\r\nthe Lord is after in us is getting rid of the practice of doing things by rote,\r\nby habit.\u00a0 <\/span>When we get in that rut, we\r\nlose sight of what it means to rule over our flesh, over our emotions, over our\r\nthinking \u2014 really, over everything!<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

I\r\ngrant you that smoking isn\u2019t good for you, and drinking hard liquor will create\r\nlong-term physical problems, but these aren\u2019t things that Jesus requires of us\r\nin order to come to Him.\u00a0 <\/span>I don\u2019t\r\nrecommend that people smoke cigarettes or chew tobacco, but that isn\u2019t a\r\nrequirement I can place on anyone!\u00a0\r\n<\/span>That\u2019s something that only Holy Spirit can require of you.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Della\r\nand I enjoy a glass of wine \u2014 and Paul even encouraged Timothy to \u201cdrink a\r\nlittle wine for thy stomach\u2019s sake and thine oft infirmities\u201d \u2014 but at the same\r\ntime, our liberty in having a glass of wine is not license to drink to excess\r\nor to over-imbibe; and that rule can be applied to just about everything!<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

It\r\nisn\u2019t the drinking of wine or having a cup of coffee, or a bottle of beer that\r\nis the issue:<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

It\r\nis the drinking to excess that creates problems in our responsiveness to the\r\nLord.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>There is also the instance for\r\nsome folks who simply cannot have even a single drink of wine or beer or\r\nanything alcoholic because of the responses it produces in them.\u00a0 <\/span>This is, again, something that ONLY Holy\r\nSpirit can require as an act of personal obedience.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

When\r\nPaul addresses the Hebrew Christians, he is also addressing us as modern-day\r\nbelievers in Christ Jesus.\u00a0 <\/span>When he\r\nbegins drawing the picture of \u201cgoing on to completeness\u201d he starts with \u201cnot\r\nlaying again, the foundations of repentance from dead works.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>That\u2019s a mouthful!<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

My\r\namplified translation of the Greek hardly does justice to what Paul is\r\ncommunicating by the Spirit.\u00a0 <\/span>First of\r\nall, he lays a foundation (pun intended) for our \u201cgoing on\u201d by saying that the\r\nreal issue among believers is \u201creligion.\u201d\u00a0\r\n<\/span>He is referring to \u201cthe works of the Law,\u201d in the same way that John\r\nwrites under the direction of the Lord to the seven Ekklesias saying, \u201cI know\r\nthy works.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Before\r\nI continue, let\u2019s define \u201crepentance from dead works.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Under\r\nthe Law of Moses, the Israelites were required to keep not only the ten\r\ncommandments but a series of some 600-plus laws, statutes, and commandments,\r\nnot counting a fistful of feast-days beyond those that the Lord specifically\r\ninstructed.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

When\r\nIsaiah opens up his prophecies to Israel, the Word of the Lord through him is\r\nthat God is sick of the sacrifices and burnt offerings, the keeping of the new\r\nmoon feasts, etc., and that he will hide His face from them and not hear or\r\nrespond in any way because of the filth they continue in all the while they\r\n\u201ckeep His commandments.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

In\r\nIsaiah 28:13, we are told, <\/span>\u201cBut the Word of the Lord was\r\nunto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon\r\nline, here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward,\r\nand be broken, and snared, and taken.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\r\n

<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

What\r\nIsaiah was driving at, even some 700 years or so before Paul\u2019s directive to the\r\nHebrews, was that folks had lost sight of the Spirit of the Law.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n
