\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The body of Christ needs to come to grips with the truth\r\nconcerning our dealing with unbelief.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>Family, we all do.\u00a0 <\/span>We all fail in\r\nthis way, depending on the circumstances.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>Can we please start speaking to situations in stead of praying about\r\nthem?<\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

OK.\u00a0 <\/span>That\u2019s just the\r\npreface for today\u2019s discussion and time of sharing.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Let\u2019s begin again with what Paul wrote to the Hebrews:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Hebrews 6:1-3<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/b>\u201cTherefore\r\nleaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection;\r\nnot laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith\r\ntoward God, Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of\r\nresurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. And this will we do, if God\r\npermit.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Continuing\r\non with the theme, one of the foundational principles of the teachings (Dr. Wm.\r\nGesenius refers to this as \u201cthe Divine Expression\u201d) of the Lord Jesus Christ,\r\nwe move on to the subject of faith towards God.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Before\r\nwe get into too much depth, let me lay some foundations (pun intended) with a\r\nseries of Scriptures.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Jesus\r\nmade it abundantly clear that it is critical for us to have God\u2019s faith if we\r\nare to truly see the dimension of the Spirit God expects us to walk in.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Perhaps\r\none of the most quoted statements that Jesus made concerning faith appears in Mark\r\n11:<\/u><\/b><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u201c<\/span><\/i><\/b>Possess and hold\r\ncontinuously to God\u2019s faith.\u00a0 <\/span>Surely, and\r\nvery firmly, I declare to you, that whoever shall speak to and command this\r\nspecific mountain [or obstacle raising itself up] before you to raise up,\r\nremove and be thrown into the sea, and shall not hesitate, draw back or attempt\r\nto discriminate [between what is thought to be acceptable and that which is\r\nnot] in his heart, and shall believe (implicitly trusting God and giving full\r\ncredit to) that his declarations shall come to pass, he shall have and receive\r\nexactly what he declares.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>(Mark 11:22-23<\/b>,\r\nRAC Translation & Amplification)<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Writing\r\nto the Hebrews, Paul says,<\/span>\u201cNOW the just shall live by\r\nfaith, but if man shall draw back my soul shall have no pleasure in him<\/span>.\u201d<\/span>(Hebrews 10:38 <\/b>KJV)<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Let\r\nme amplify and somewhat extrapolate from a previous verse in something Paul\r\nwrites to the Romans to put it like this<\/span>: \u201c<\/span><\/i><\/b>For there in [the Gospel of Christ which is the power of\r\nGod unto salvation to them that believe] is the righteousness of God revealed\r\nfrom faith to faith; as it is written, The just shall live by faith.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span>(Romans 1:16-17<\/b>, KJV & RAC\r\nAmplification)<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Paul,\r\nof course, is quoting from the prophet, Habakkuk, who is directed by the Lord\r\nto <\/span>\u201cmake the vision plain upon tables, that he may run (or pursue\r\nafter the vision) that readeth it\u201d <\/span>because <\/span>\u201c<\/span>his\r\nsoul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by\r\nfaith.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Habakkuk\r\nis describing the need for the vision being plainly written because Israel (for\r\nthe most part) was not walking uprightly.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>The Word of the Lord to Israel was that if they were going to be counted\r\namong the \u201cjust\u201d or righteous in God\u2019s sight, they absolutely had to shift from\r\nwalking according to the Law to walking by faith. <\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Faith\r\nwas not a part of Israel\u2019s daily life.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>The Law of Moses was not something that Israel followed by faith.\u00a0 <\/span>It was a dictum, a mandate to be obeyed\r\nwhether they liked it, understood it, believed in its efficacy or not.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Throughout\r\nIsrael\u2019s life, however, there were the few who saw beyond the Law to the heart\r\nof the Lord God.\u00a0 <\/span>They saw a spiritual\r\nprinciple that transcended the Law.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Abraham,\r\nwho was literally the father of Israel, had a relationship with God when there\r\nwas no written or prescribed Law.\u00a0 <\/span>One of\r\nAbraham\u2019s contemporaries was the Mesopotamian king, Hammurabi, who set forth a\r\nseries of practical laws for human behavior.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>The archaeological\u00a0 <\/span>artifact known\r\nas \u201cThe Stele of Hammurabi\u201d detailed many laws in writing \u2014 some of which\r\nparalleled the statutes that Moses set forth for Israel to follow.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Because\r\nof \u201cCode of Hammurabi\u201d was fairly well known throughout the entire Mediterranean\r\nregion, Abraham and his contemporaries were no doubt familiar with all or parts\r\nof it, but there was nothing in that code which incorporated any kind of\r\nrelationship with God as the foundation for observance.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Everything\r\nthat Abraham did in his responses to the Lord flew in the face of natural human\r\nunderstanding.\u00a0 <\/span>There was no rational\r\nthought to Abraham\u2019s behavior.\u00a0 <\/span>Here\u2019s\r\nhow the apostle Paul describes Abraham\u2019s behavior \u2014 both in writing to the\r\nHebrews, and to the Romans:<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Hebrews 11:8-10, 17-19, KJV<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>\u201cBy faith Abraham,\r\nwhen he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an\r\ninheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went. By faith he\r\nsojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles\r\nwith Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise:\u00a0 <\/span>For he looked for a city which hath\r\nfoundations, whose builder and maker is God.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u201cBy faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he\r\nthat had received the promises offered up his only begotten son, Of whom it was\r\nsaid, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called: Accounting that God was able to\r\nraise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a\r\nfigure.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\r\n

<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Romans 4:14-18, KJV<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>\u201cFor if they which\r\nare of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none\r\neffect: Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no\r\ntransgression. Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end\r\nthe promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the\r\nlaw, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us\r\nall,<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u201c(As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,)\r\nbefore him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those\r\nthings which be not as though they were. Who against hope believed in hope,\r\nthat he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was\r\nspoken, So shall thy seed be.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

\r\nPaul\r\nmakes it abundantly clear that it is impossible to live by the Law and live by\r\nFaith at the same time.\u00a0 <\/span>One either lives\r\nby the Law, and is subject to all of the consequences of the Law for even the\r\nleast infraction, or one can live by the faith of the Lord Jesus Christ, and be\r\ntotally delivered from the consequences of any infractions of the Law.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Now\r\nyou understand why it is so critically important that the foundation of faith\r\ntoward God be so much a part of our character and makeup.\u00a0 <\/span>We simply cannot live under the Law and live\r\nby faith at the same time. <\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

There\r\nis a mandate of faith if we are to \u201cgo on beyond,\u201d to the revelation that\r\nawaits, being made \u201cpartakers of the Holy Ghost\u201d [that word, partakers, comes\r\nfrom the Greek word,\u00a0 <\/span>metochos,<\/span><\/i><\/b> which means: sharer, associate,\r\npartner<\/u>], eating of the fresh manna of revelation which comes by the rhema, <\/span><\/i><\/b>as well as the miraculous realm of\r\npower associated with the \u2018eternity of the eternities\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

It\r\nis utterly impossible to get there without the faith of God operational and\r\nfunctioning in its wholeness in us.\u00a0 <\/span>Thus\r\nthis is a foundation stone in Jesus Christ without which no further building\r\ncan be constructed in the realm of the Spirit.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Here\u2019s\r\nwhere things get really interesting!\u00a0 <\/span>In\r\norder for the Faith of God to become a functioning part of our existence, it\r\nrequires the Grace of God.\u00a0 <\/span>Grace and\r\nFaith work hand in hand, and neither one operates without the other.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Let\u2019s\r\ntake a minute to define Grace so that this becomes more clear.\u00a0 <\/span>The Greek word translated \u201cgrace\u201d throughout\r\nthe New Testament is the word, charis.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/i><\/b>J.H. Thayer, in his\r\nGreek-English Lexicon, defines this word like this:<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

(1)\r\nThe Divine influence of God<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

(2) The merciful\r\nkindness by which God strengthens and<\/span>\u00a0increases us in faith<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

(3)<\/span>\u00a0The proof of God\u2019s\r\nDivine Power<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

(4)<\/span>\u00a0That which kindles\r\nthe exercise of Christian virtues<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

NOTHING\r\nin these definitions allows us to conclude that grace is passive in any\r\nway!\u00a0 <\/span>Grace is a whole lot more than the\r\nkindness and mercy of God. It is the empowerment that enables the operation of\r\nfaith in God, as well as faith towards God.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Consider\r\nhow faith and grace are so intertwined in the Word:<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Romans 4:16<\/span><\/u><\/b>, KJV<\/b><\/span><\/u>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/b>Therefore it is of\r\nfaith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all\r\nthe seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of\r\nthe faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Ephesians 2:5-8, KJV<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>Even when we were\r\ndead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)\r\nAnd hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in\r\nChrist Jesus: That in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of\r\nhis grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye\r\nsaved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Romans 11:5-6, KJV<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/b>Even so then at this\r\npresent time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace. And if\r\nby grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if\r\nit be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\r\n\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Galatians 3:22-26, AMP<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>But the Scriptures\r\n[picture all mankind as sinners] shut up and imprisoned by sin, so that [the\r\ninheritance, blessing] which was promised through faith in Jesus Christ (the\r\nMessiah) might be given (released, delivered, and committed) to [all] those who\r\nbelieve [who adhere to and trust in and rely on Him].\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\n\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Now before the faith came, we were perpetually guarded under the\r\nLaw, kept in custody in preparation for the faith that was destined to be\r\nrevealed (unveiled, disclosed),\u00a0 <\/span>So that\r\nthe Law served [to us Jews] as our trainer [our guardian, our guide to Christ,\r\nto lead us] until Christ [came], that we might be justified (declared\r\nrighteous, put in right standing with God) by and through faith.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

But now that the faith has come, we are no longer under a\r\ntrainer (the guardian of our childhood). <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>For\r\nin Christ Jesus you are all sons of God through faith.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

\r\nGalatians 5:5-6, KJV<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>For we through the\r\nSpirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. For in Jesus Christ neither\r\ncircumcision availethany thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by\r\nlove.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

And\r\nnow we\u2019ve added a third element to the working of grace and faith: love \u2014 agape<\/span><\/i><\/b>!<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Ephesians 3:17-19, AMP<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>May Christ through\r\nyour faith [actually] dwell (settle down, abide, make His permanent home) in\r\nyour hearts! May you be rooted deep in love and founded securely on love,<\/span>\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/sup><\/p>\r\n\r\n

That you may have the power and\r\nbe strong to apprehend and grasp with all the saints [God\u2019s devoted people, the\r\nexperience of that love] what is the breadth and length and height and depth\r\n[of it];\u00a0 <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

[That you may really come] to\r\nknow [practically, through experience for yourselves] the love of Christ, which\r\nfar surpasses mere knowledge [without experience]; that you may be filled\r\n[through all your being] unto all the fullness of God [may have the richest\r\nmeasure of the divine Presence, and become a body wholly filled and flooded\r\nwith God Himself]!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

\r\nNow you\u2019re beginning to see what I\u2019m referring to.\u00a0 <\/span>I don\u2019t want to drag this out unnecessarily,\r\nbut we often think of grace as a gift from God, and yet that\u2019s not exactly\r\naccurate.\u00a0 <\/span>Grace is the empowerment so\r\nthat faith can be given to us as the gift, which in turn enables us to hear and\r\nrespond to the beckoning of Holy Spirit \u2014 both when we are drawn to the saving\r\nknowledge of Christ Jesus, AND as we respond to the rhema which spurs our\r\ncontinuing growth and development in the knowledge and character of the Lord\r\nJesus Christ.<\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

\r\nWhewww!!\u00a0 <\/span>That\r\nwas a mouthful, I know, but let me go back to Ephesians 2:8 <\/b>and\r\nre-amplify it for you from the Greek so that it becomes clearer.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u201cFor it is through the direct\r\nempowerment (grace) and drawing of Holy Spirit that you are saved, healed,\r\ndelivered, made whole, protected and made to prosper, through and by means of\r\nfaith, and that faith doesn\u2019t come because you willed it or made a decision in\r\nyour mind <\/span>(humon):\r\nit is the sacrificial gift \u2014 a present \u2014 of and\r\nfrom Father, Son and Holy Spirit.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span>(RAC Translation\r\n& Amplification)<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

In case you think I\u2019m mistranslating this, take a look\r\nat John 6:44-45<\/u><\/b>:<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u201cNo man can\r\ncome to me except Father, who has dispatched and sent me, draw him like a\r\nmagnet: and I will raise on high and Glorify Father at the final end.\u00a0 <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

\r\n\u201cIt has been\r\nwritten by the prophets, And they shall, everyone, be communicated to and\r\ninstructed by God.\u00a0 <\/span>Every man,\r\naccordingly, that has heard and learned of Father comes to, and accompanies\r\nme.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>(RAC Translation & Amplification)<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

I don\u2019t want to start splitting hairs or get into some\r\ndoctrinal disagreements with everyone over this but except for the way that\r\nsome English translations have dealt with Ephesians 2:8, both of the current\r\nJewish Bibles (the CJB and the OJB) treat faith as the gift from God \u2014 NOT the\r\ngrace.\u00a0 <\/span>Grace, once again, is the pure\r\nand un-earned favor of God.\u00a0 <\/span>It is the\r\ninfluencing factor, the empowerment that comes into our being which enables\r\nfaith to hear and function so that we can respond to the Lord.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Faith toward God is elemental in the foundation-laying\r\nthat takes place as we move from teknon<\/span><\/i><\/b>to\r\nhuios.<\/span><\/i><\/b>\u00a0 <\/span>The phenomenal thing about this faith is that\r\nnot only does it enable us to hear and respond to the Lord in the first place <\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Romans 10:17: <\/span><\/u><\/b>So\r\nthen faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.), it is also the\r\ndivine, supernatural transporter mechanism which enables us to receive our\r\nhealing, our deliverance, our safety and protection, our wholeness, our\r\nprovision and resulting prosperity<\/span>. (RAC Translation &\r\nAmplification)<\/span><\/p>\r\n

<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Hebrew 11:6, KJV<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>\u201cBut without faith it\r\nis impossible to please Him; for he that cometh to God must believe that He is,\r\nand that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

\r\nWe could take this subject a whole lot farther, but\r\nlet\u2019s wrap up today with the essence of how faith towards God actually\r\noperates.\u00a0 <\/span>Here\u2019s how Paul, writing to\r\nthe Romans, puts it:<\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

Romans\r\n10:8-10, NASB {with my <\/span><\/u><\/b>amplification):\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/u>\"But what does\r\nit say <\/span>(in\r\nDeuteronomy 30:14)? \u201cThe word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart<\/span>\u201d\u2014that\r\nis, the word of faith which we are preaching, because if you confess with your\r\nmouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the\r\ndead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, [until he comes\r\nto the result of] righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses to [agreeing\r\nwith God], [until he comes to ] the result of salvation.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nother day, I made this offhand remark about the number of man being 6.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

\r\nThat,\r\nof course, is something we've known as Christians because it is interwoven\r\nthroughout Scripture.\u00a0 Numbers have always been significant in God's\r\neconomy, and numbers have specific representation of various characteristics,\r\npower and authority within the framework of all that God has done, is doing,\r\nand will do.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

\r\nLet\r\nme deviate momentarily from where today's discussion will ultimately go, and\r\nobviously have to finish up next week).<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

We\r\nknow, for example, that the number of the Father in Scripture is 7.\u00a0 The\r\nnumber of Jesus is 8.\u00a0 The number of the Holy Spirit is 9.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Consider,\r\nthen, David's prophecy in <\/span>Psalm 8:4 -\r\n6:<\/u><\/b><\/span>\"What is man that thou art mindful of him? and the son of\r\nman that thou visitest him?\u00a0 For thou has made him a little lower than <\/span>(Elohiym<\/i><\/b>)\r\n<\/span>God, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.\u00a0 Thou\r\nmadest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all\r\nthings under his feet.\"<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

As\r\nan engineer and a past member of the scientific community, one of the facts\r\nknown to science is that it takes various combinations of sixes for the human\r\nframe to retain or activate certain things.\u00a0 Let me illustrate.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

As\r\nan audio engineer, I proved out the theorem that it requires a person hearing\r\nsomething repeated six times in order to retain it permanently in memory.\u00a0\r\nEvery multiple of 6 thereafter reinforces and imprints it in a person's\r\nsubconscious and conscious memory.<\/span><\/p>\r\n
