\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Last week, I had intended to branch off for a bit into a\r\ndiscussion on faith that wasn\u2019t a part of where we had been, but because of\r\ntime constraints, I decided to leave that discussion for today instead.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

In\r\npast discussions, I have commented about the number of man being 6.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

That,\r\nof course, is something we've known as Christians because it is interwoven\r\nthroughout Scripture.\u00a0 Numbers have always been significant in God's\r\neconomy, and numbers have specific representation of various characteristics,\r\npower and authority within the framework of all that God has done, is doing,\r\nand will do.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

We\r\nknow, for example, that the number of the Father in Scripture is 7.\u00a0 The\r\nnumber of Jesus is 8.\u00a0 The number of the Holy Spirit is 9.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Consider,\r\nthen, David's prophecy in <\/span>Psalm 8:4 -\r\n6:<\/u><\/b><\/span>\"What is man that thou art mindful of him? and the son of\r\nman that thou visitest him?\u00a0 For thou has made him a little lower than <\/span>(Elohiym<\/i><\/b>)\r\n<\/span>God, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.\u00a0 Thou\r\nmadest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all\r\nthings under his feet.\"<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Even\r\nnumerically, we see the accuracy of what David writes.\u00a0 The number 6 is\r\njust below 7, or 8, or 9.\u00a0 <\/span>Anyway, let's\r\ndon't get too sidetracked with all of that.\u00a0 That is entirely another\r\ndiscussion.\u00a0 Let's get back to the number 6, and its significance in man.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

As\r\nan engineer and a past member of the scientific community, one of the facts\r\nknown to science is that it takes various combinations of sixes for the human\r\nframe to retain or activate certain things.\u00a0 Let me illustrate.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

As\r\nan audio engineer, I proved out the theorem that it requires a person hearing\r\nsomething repeated six times in order to retain it permanently in memory.\u00a0\r\nEvery multiple of 6 thereafter reinforces and imprints it in a person's\r\nsubconscious and conscious memory.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Our\r\nelectrical power that energizes our homes operates at 120 volts @ 60\r\nhz.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

As\r\na television engineer, the number 6 is used repeatedly when it comes to visual\r\nclarity.\u00a0 The horizontal scan frequency of the old TV sets, 15,750 hz, is\r\na 6X multiple of the number of times an electron gun sweeps across a television\r\nscreen to create a single field.\u00a0 Two fields of 30 scans (or 60) make one\r\nframe of a television image in the old NTSC format.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

In\r\ntoday's High Definition formats, you have 420p (420i is the number of\r\ninterlaced lines you actually see on an old conventional NTSC television set)\r\n-- meaning that the lines are progressively scanned, creating a cleaner image;\r\nyou also have 720p, 1080i, 1080p , the new 4K and 8K, (I\u2019ve rounded these out\r\nwithout getting into the specific numbers) for a dazzling Hi-Def picture.\u00a0\r\nMore importantly, every one of these numbers are multiples of 6.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Why\r\n6?\u00a0 Because it is the number at which the human eye best responds.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Consider\r\nthis.\u00a0 The U.S. Department of Health some 32 years ago or so published a\r\n600+ page study on the frequencies radiated by plants, fruits and vegetables in\r\nconjunction with the body frequencies of healthy men and women.\u00a0 What\r\nmakes this particular study fascinating is that they found certain combinations\r\nof fruits and certain combinations of vegetables which, when combined, provide\r\na frequency between 55 and 65 hz.\u00a0 As part of the human diet, these\r\ncombinations either aid good health or detract from it.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

This\r\nstudy also found that when the radiated frequency of a man or woman drops into\r\nthe low-50's, they are prone to cancer and other diseases -- that all diseases\r\nare a byproduct of a sub-60 Hz condition within the human neural system.\u00a0\r\nNaturopaths and health professionals who rely on natural remedies often draw\r\nfrom this study in making their recommendations.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Now,\r\nI've said all that to say this: the number of man has been played upon by Satan\r\nand his demonic forces to be used against him in a direct battle against\r\nfaith.\u00a0 Images used by ignorant (and knowing) advertisers under the\r\ncontrol or influence of Satan to promote their products on radio, on television\r\nand in the entertainment industry are used to entice, to encourage lust, greed\r\nand selfishness, to promote the \"man is God\" theme, and -- most\r\nimportantly -- to induce doubt, fear and unbelief when it comes to the things\r\nof God.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Anyone\r\nwho watches very much television, or listens to the radio, or listens to the\r\npopular music entertainment of the day gets hammered repeatedly with images and\r\nmessages that instill doubt, spawn fear, and programs them mentally in such a\r\nway that a person is flooded with unbelief when it comes to just about anything\r\nGod says in His Word.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

666\r\nis the number of today's mainstream media and entertainment industries.\u00a0\r\nWhy do I say that?\u00a0 Because \"666\" is a Hebrew metaphor for\r\n\"man setting himself up as God.\"\u00a0 It is the \"mark,\" or\r\nsymbol, or identifying characteristic that denotes \"the Beast.\"\u00a0\r\nToday's mainstream media does everything in its power to tell a (not-so-)\r\ncarefully couched lie that righteousness is nothing more than bigotry and\r\nracism; that any leader who promotes righteous values is a terror in our\r\nsociety.\u00a0 The entertainment industry fills our theaters and homes today\r\nwith stories, images and sounds that belittle faith and trust in God, and\r\nspecifically the Lord Jesus Christ, and hammer home themes unequivocally\r\nstating that Man has ALL the answers to everything Man needs.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

With\r\nall due respect to my friends in the medical profession and pharmaceutical\r\nindustries, a concerted effort has been put forth to create the impression that\r\nmedical science is the answer to all of man's health problems.\u00a0 Almost\r\ndaily, we see \"new\" diseases created and invented, while the\r\npharmaceutical industry promotes and advertises its \"latest\"\r\ndevelopment in a pill to cure these \"new\" diseases.\u00a0\r\nWell-meaning men and women of integrity become pawns of a system designed to\r\ndestroy faith and trust in the power and authority of the Lord Jesus Christ\r\nover all diseases, afflictions and ailments.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Preachers\r\nof the Gospel become pawns of the Beast by teaching that \"the day of\r\nmiracles has passed.\u00a0 It died out with those first apostles.\"\u00a0\r\nThe promises that Jesus made when He said, \"These signs shall follow them\r\nthat believe...\" are rendered as fantastic things of a bygone era and\r\n\"dispensation\" in God's economy.\u00a0 They effectively teach and\r\npreach the same conniving trickery that Satan pawned off on Eve when he said,\r\n\"Hath God said?\" relegating the realm of the miraculous to a few\r\n\"super-Christians\" and depriving the body of Christ at large of its\r\ncovenanted power and authority in Christ.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

And\r\nyet, <\/span>\"Without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he that\r\ncometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that\r\ndiligently seek Him.\"\u00a0 <\/span>(Hebrews 11:6)<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

How\r\nabout this one?\u00a0 <\/span>\"Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw\r\nback, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.\"\u00a0 <\/span>(Hebrews 10:38)<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

In\r\norder for the just to live by faith, every day has to be one in which a person\r\nstands in faith.\u00a0 Everything in our society today beats a drumbeat of\r\ndoubt, fear and unbelief.\u00a0 It's no wonder that we, as Christians, need\r\ncomplete re-programming.\u00a0 In order to stand in faith and believe God for\r\nanything -- whether it be finances, health, healing, prosperity, healthy and\r\nbalanced family relationships, prosperous marriages, you name it -- a person\r\nliterally has to fight his way through a lifetime of pre-programmed doubts and\r\nfears, along with getting past the lies of an increasingly liberal mindset in\r\nmany segments of the church.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Writing\r\nto the Romans, Paul says, <\/span>\"And be not conformed to\r\nthis world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may\r\nprove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Brother!\u00a0\r\nIs that ever a mouthful!<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Let\r\nme break that statement down for you from the original Greek text.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

\"And\r\nbe not conformed <\/span>(<\/span>\u00f3\u00f5\u00f3\u00f7\u00e7\u00ec\u00e1\u00f4\u00df\u00e6\u00f9<\/span><\/b>-- susche\u00f4matizo\u00f4<\/i>)<\/b><\/span>to this\r\nworld....\"\u00a0 There's a 64-dollar word for you. Susche\u00f4matizo\u00f4<\/span><\/i><\/b>is a contraction of two\r\nother words, sun<\/i>, <\/b>and schema<\/i>.\u00a0 Sun<\/i><\/b>is a\r\nprimary preposition in the Greek language denoting with<\/u> or union<\/u>,\r\neither by process, association, companionship, resemblance or possession, and\r\ngenerally implies having been completed in that union.\u00a0Schema<\/span><\/i><\/b>(from where we get our word in the\r\nengineering professions,schematic<\/span><\/i><\/b>, <\/span>for a figurative drawing or representation)\r\nrepresents a mode<\/u> or circumstance<\/u>, an external condition<\/u>,\r\na figure<\/u>.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

We\r\nthus have a picture of one who has co-opted into becoming just like the world\r\nin thought process and mindset.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

And\r\nPaul says that change comes by being transformed (metamorpho\u00f4\r\n<\/span><\/b>-- <\/span>metamorphosed<\/span><\/i><\/b>) <\/span>through having our\r\nminds and thoughts (<\/span>anakaino\u00f4sis<\/span><\/b> -- renovated<\/i>)<\/b><\/span>made freshly new.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Before\r\nI finish with Paul's statement to the Romans, let me refer you to his second\r\nletter to the Corinthians in which he writes, <\/span>\"For\r\nthough we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (for the weapons of\r\nour warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of\r\nstrongholds;)Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth\r\nitself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought\r\nto the obedience of Christ.\"<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\ntransformation of our minds and thought processes, therefore, demands that we\r\ncast down the imaginations and lies of this world system, the Beast, Mammon --\r\nby whatever definition you call it: every high thing (thought) that exalts\r\nitself against the knowledge of God.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Everything\r\nthat exalts itself against the knowledge of God promotes doubt, fear and\r\nunbelief.\u00a0 Everything that exalts itself against the knowledge of God\r\nsays, \"Hath God said?\"\u00a0 Everything that exalts itself against\r\nthe knowledge of God says, \"Well, maybe it works for some people, but that\r\nreally isn't for you.\"<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Get\r\nthe picture?\u00a0 I'm sure you do.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0OK,\r\nlet's finish up with Paul's statement to the Romans.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

\"...that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable,\r\nand perfect, will of God.\"\u00a0 <\/span>There is a very unique word in the Greek\r\ntext that occurs in this phrase.\u00a0 That word is<\/span>\u00e4\u00ef\u00ea\u00e9\u00ec\u00dc\u00e6\u00f9<\/span>-- dokimaz\u00f4<\/i>,\r\n<\/b><\/span>and\r\nis extracted from dokimon<\/span><\/i><\/b>. Being\r\na student of etymology, or the study of the history of words, I found this one\r\nfascinating.\u00a0 This is a word which comes from numismatists -- folks who\r\nare involved in the creating of coins, those who smelt gold and silver and\r\nother precious metals.\u00a0 It literally means \"to put to the test in the\r\nfire,\" to apply great heat to for the sake of refining, to assay.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Now\r\ndo you understand the framework from which Paul writes?\u00a0 Nothing could\r\nmore clearly delineate our need for \"standing\" in faith.\u00a0\r\nEverything the world around us promotes and encourages needs to be expunged\r\nfrom the mind.\u00a0 THAT, my friends, doesn't happen overnight!<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

We\r\nare challenged to believe God and take Him at His Word.\u00a0 We are challenged\r\nto believe God for healing, even when the doctors say there is no hope.\u00a0\r\nWe are challenged to believe God for miracles in our lives when society around\r\nus laughs at the whole idea. <\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

We\r\ntake our stand.\u00a0 We speak what God has spoken in our spirit.\u00a0 We put\r\nfeet to our faith.\u00a0 We confess daily that which we have heard.\u00a0 Yet\r\nthe evidence doesn't show up right away.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Do\r\nwe give up?\u00a0 Do we accept the lie of Satan that says, \"that's just\r\nnot for you.\u00a0 It just isn't God's will for you to be healed.\u00a0 It just\r\nisn't God's will for you to be delivered.\"\u00a0 Do we then turn to the\r\nworld's answers having allowed the circumstances around us to defeat our\r\nconfession?<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Not\r\nthis guy!<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

So\r\nfar we have talked about the foundation of repentance from dead works, of faith\r\ntoward God, and we spent weeks dealing with the doctrine of baptisms.\u00a0 <\/span>This week (and next) we need to talk about\r\nthe impartation that comes from the laying on of hands.\u00a0 <\/span>Let\u2019s take time today to lay some foundations\r\nin our understanding as to both the historical and post-Pentecost implications\r\nassociated with this.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

In\r\norder to properly deal with this subject, we need to get back to the root of\r\nHebrew thought so as to understand where this practice comes from, and the\r\nspiritual significance of having hands laid upon someone.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Out\r\nof several hundred references throughout Scripture, the very first time we see\r\nsomeone laying hands upon another occurs when Jacob lays his right hand on\r\nEphraim, and his left hand on Manasseh \u2014 the two sons of Joseph.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Genesis 48:13-20, KJV<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

And Joseph took them both, Ephraim in his right hand toward\r\nIsrael\u2019s left hand, and Manasseh in his left hand toward Israel\u2019s right hand,\r\nand brought them near unto him. And Israel stretched out his right hand, and\r\nlaid it upon Ephraim\u2019s head, who was the younger, and his left hand upon\r\nManasseh\u2019s head, guiding his hands wittingly; for Manasseh was the firstborn.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\r\n\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/sup><\/p>\r\n\r\n

And he blessed Joseph, and said, God, before whom my fathers\r\nAbraham and Isaac did walk, the God which fed me all my life long unto this\r\nday, The Angel which redeemed me from all evil, bless the lads; and let my name\r\nbe named on them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; and let them\r\ngrow into a multitude in the midst of the earth. And when Joseph saw that his\r\nfather laid his right hand upon the head of Ephraim, it displeased him: and he\r\nheld up his father\u2019s hand, to remove it from Ephraim\u2019s head unto Manasseh\u2019s\r\nhead.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

And Joseph said unto his father, Not so, my father: for this is the\r\nfirstborn; put thy right hand upon his head.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>And his father refused, and said, I know it, my son, I know it: he also\r\nshall become a people, and he also shall be great: but truly his younger\r\nbrother shall be greater than he, and his seed shall become a multitude of\r\nnations. And he blessed them that day, saying, In thee shall Israel bless,\r\nsaying, God make thee as Ephraim and as Manasseh: and he set Ephraim before\r\nManasseh.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

In\r\ncase it hasn\u2019t already dawned on you, we have shifted into the third of Paul\u2019s\r\n\u201cdoctrines to get past:\u201d the laying on of hands.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

We\r\ncan infer in each of the previous instances where we see the Blessing conveyed\r\nthat hands were laid upon the one being blessed, but this is the first time we\r\nactually see it happening.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

What\r\nmakes this event so important in our understanding is that we see the laying on\r\nof both the right hand \u2014 to Ephraim, who was the younger son of Joseph \u2014 and\r\nthe left hand \u2014 to Manasseh, who was the firstborn son of Joseph, and normally\r\nthe one to whom the primary blessing would be conveyed.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

As\r\nJacob begins the blessing, however, he speaks the same words over both Ephraim\r\nand Manasseh (see verse 16<\/b>: The Angel\r\nwhich redeemed me from all evil, bless the lads; and let my name be named on\r\nthem, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; and let them grow into a\r\nmultitudein the midst of the earth<\/span><\/i><\/b>.)\u00a0 <\/span>He thus communicates the same blessing with\r\nboth right and left hand, conveying the onoma of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\n\u00a0 <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

But\r\nwatch what happens next.\u00a0 <\/span>Joseph knows\r\nfrom family history and from the general practice of the time that the one\r\nreceiving the greater blessing must have the laying on of the right hand.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Jacob,\r\nhowever, has a direct word from the Spirit of the Lord and acts\r\naccordingly.\u00a0 <\/span>Where we read that Jacob\r\nguided his hand \u201cwittingly,\u201d we see the Hebrew word, sakal<\/span>, <\/i><\/b>which means: to act circumspectly, to act with wise insight and\r\nforeknowledge.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Interestingly,\r\nit also contains the meaning: to cause to\r\nprosper.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Notice\r\nhow Jacob differentiates now between the blessing of the right hand, and the\r\nblessing of the left hand (see verse 19):<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

And his father refused, and said, I know it, my son, I know it:\r\nhe also shall become a people, and he also shall be great: but truly his\r\nyounger brother shall be greater than he, and his seed shall become a multitude\r\nof nations. <\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

It\r\nbecomes clear, therefore, from this example, that the right hand conveys power,\r\nauthority, multiplication of the specifically imparted in a manner which is\r\neasily seen and demonstrated in the years to come.\u00a0 <\/span>It\u2019s not that the blessing conveyed with the\r\nleft hand is anything to sneeze at (and we will talk more about this later):\r\nit\u2019s just that there is a totally different character to the blessing of the\r\nleft hand.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

It\r\nshould also be clear from Jacob\u2019s words that he was describing a blessing that\r\nwould manifest itself in not just years, but generations to come.\u00a0 <\/span>One does not become a multitude of nations<\/span><\/i><\/b> in a generation, or\r\ntwo generations, or even three generations!\u00a0\r\n<\/span>The Hebrew word translated \u201cmultitude\u201d is the word,rob<\/span><\/i><\/b>, <\/span>which\r\nliterally means:huge, multiplied in number,\r\nan innumerable abundance.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nblessing and impartation that comes by the laying on of the left hand,\r\ntherefore, is of great consequence, and not to be diminished or degraded.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

That\u2019s\r\nwhere we will leave this today.\u00a0 <\/span>See you\r\nnext week.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n
