RULING AND REIGNING WITH GOD<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Part 22<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

January 1, 2021<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Before we took our break for Christmas, we were talking about the\r\nsignificance of righteous judgment.\u00a0 <\/span>I\r\nwant to pick up on that again as we begin the new year.\u00a0 <\/span>2021 is going to be a year for the record\r\nbooks!\u00a0 <\/span>I know that some of the first\r\nfour years of the Trump administration have been real barn-burners but get\r\nready for some amazing events this coming year!<\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

In\r\nMatthew 25 we have the parable of the talents, and the unprofitable servant who\r\ntakes the talent entrusted to him and buries it instead of putting it to use so\r\nthat it would profit the master.\u00a0 <\/span>Here,\r\nagain, we have the judgment rendered in which the servant is cast into outer\r\ndarkness.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

J.\r\nH. Thayer tells us that this is a common Hebrew metaphor which depicts an\r\nindividual \u201cwho is given over permanently to\r\nhis willing and persistent ignorance of the things of God, and the accompanying\r\nungodliness and immorality, together with their consequent misery in hell.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Peter\u2019s\r\nreference, therefore, to the \u201cfalse teachers who bring in their damnable\r\nheresies\u201d follows the same line of judgment that Jesus decrees when he writes\r\n\u201cto whom the mist of darkness is reserved forever (aion<\/span><\/i><\/b>) \u201cthroughout the eternity of the\r\neternities.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

These\r\njudgments, however, are not what we normally think of and refer to as \u201ceternal\r\njudgment.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Let\u2019s\r\ntalk about the first of several events recorded in Revelation 20 and 21.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Revelation\r\n20:7-10<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed\r\nout of his prison, And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the\r\nfour quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle:\r\nthe number of whom is<\/i> as the sand of the sea. And they went up on the\r\nbreadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the\r\nbeloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. And\r\nthe devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone,\r\nwhere the beast and the false prophet are<\/i>, and shall be tormented day\r\nand night for ever and ever<\/u><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

In\r\nthis prophecy we see the loosing of Satan from the pit where he has been\r\nimprisoned for a thousand years.\u00a0 <\/span>Satan\r\nagain goes forth to deceive the nations of the world \u2014 and from the description\r\ngiven, he is able to deceive a huge number who gather together against the city\r\nof Jerusalem.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Before\r\nwe continue with this picture, it is important to note that for a thousand\r\nyears of time up to this moment, Satan has had no ability to tempt, to deceive\r\nand to entice the thousands and millions of people who\u2019ve been born during the\r\nthousand years.\u00a0 <\/span>Jesus, as we all know,\r\nis returning for an \u201covercoming Bride\u201d \u2014 one who has overcome all of the flesh,\r\nthe temptations of the world, and Satan!<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

From\r\nwhat I experienced when the Angel of the Lord took me forward into the future\r\nto see Satan loosed, and watch the battles against the people of God unfold,\r\nthose folks who have grown up and had a knowledge of the Lord and a\r\nrelationship would now see that relationship tested to the max!\u00a0 <\/span>Satan\u2019s intention is to ply his enticements\r\nand deception against a whole new batch of professing believers and use them\r\nagainst those who choose the Lord Jesus Christ as their beloved.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nbattle that ensues once Satan gathers his forces and those who stand in\r\nagreement with him is earth\u2019s final battle.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>The judgment of the Lord against him is now a dazzling display of the\r\nmight and glory of God as fire (the Greek term used here is pur<\/span><\/i><\/b>, which more literally translates as\r\n\u201clightning\u201d) consumes the armies from top to bottom.\u00a0 <\/span>[Here, we see the Greek word, katesthio<\/span><\/i><\/b>, which means to \u201ceat down\u201d from the\r\ntop.]<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\neternal judgment that follows manifests as Satan, the Beast, and the False\r\nProphet are cast into the lake of fire where they will be tormented throughout\r\nthe eternity of the eternities.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

(This\r\nis one of those places in the NT where you see the term, \u201cforever,\u201d (aion<\/span><\/i><\/b>) doubled to read like this:\u00a0 <\/span>aiona tou\r\naionos<\/span><\/i><\/b>,\u201d which we render \u201cforever into forever,\u201d or \u201cperpetuity\r\nupon perpetuity,\u201d or \u2014 as we have been describing \u2014 \u201cthe eternity of the\r\neternities.\u201d)\u00a0 <\/span>In other words, there is\r\nno such thing as a terminus to this.\u00a0 <\/span>You\r\ncan\u2019t call it \u201can event\u201d because the word, event, has time incorporated into\r\nit.\u00a0 <\/span>You can\u2019t refer to it with any word\r\nor terminology which puts it within some specified framework incorporating a\r\nbeginning and an end.\u00a0 <\/span>It is eternal \u2014\r\nPERIOD!<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Consider,\r\nnow, the next recorded eternal judgment.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Revelation\r\n20:11-15<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>And\r\nI saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth\r\nand the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the\r\ndead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another\r\nbook was opened, which is the book<\/i> of life: and the dead were judged out\r\nof those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And\r\nthe sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the\r\ndead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their\r\nworks. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second\r\ndeath. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into\r\nthe lake of fire.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

\r\nThere\r\nis a second part of this \u201cFinal Judgment\u201d which appears in Revelation 22.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Revelation\r\n22:5-8<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things\r\nnew. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. And he\r\nsaid unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I\r\nwill give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.\r\nHe that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he\r\nshall be my son. But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and\r\nmurderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall\r\nhave their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the\r\nsecond death.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

This\r\n\u201cGreat White Throne Judgment\u201d has sometimes been referred to as the \u201cBema<\/span><\/i><\/b>,\u201d but the Greek word, bema<\/span><\/i><\/b>, actually describes a moveable judgment\r\nseat that moves from place to place with the Judge.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

In\r\nany event, what we see is the result of a law of the universe being enacted.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\r\n\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

When\r\nGod created the Heavens and the Earth, He set in place certain immutable\r\n(absolutely unchangeable) laws which carry specific consequences when they are\r\nviolated.\u00a0 <\/span>The laws and the consequences\r\nthat follow are not a product of the wrath of God \u2014 and He DOES have wrath (the\r\nHebrew word for wrath is: chemah<\/span><\/i><\/b>,\r\nand the Greek word is, orge: <\/span><\/i><\/b>both\r\nwords mean: violent passion, hot displeasure, heat, anger) \u2014 they are the\r\nresult of the arbitrary choices we make, and the callous disregard people have\r\nfor God\u2019s universal law.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Before\r\nwe wrap up this very brief look at the doctrine of eternal judgment, there is\r\nan aspect of judgment that we must consider.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Revelation\r\n1:5b-6<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our\r\nsins in his own blood, And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his\r\nFather; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Think\r\nabout the role of the priest for a minute.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>The priest takes the sins of the people upon himself, acting as an\r\nintercessor, and presents himself before the King of Kings seeking mercy and\r\nforgiveness.\u00a0 <\/span>In our role as priests unto\r\nGod, we act within the person of Jesus Christ, Who \u2014 as Paul writes \u2014 makes\r\nintercession on our behalf.\u00a0 <\/span>Look at the\r\nway he describes this in writing to the Hebrews:<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Hebrews\r\n7:25-26<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that\r\ncome unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. For\r\nsuch an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from\r\nsinners, and made higher than the heavens;<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\r\n\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0 <\/span>THAT is one of our roles in Christ Jesus.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

But\r\nthat isn\u2019t the only role.\u00a0 <\/span>We are also\r\ncreated to be kings.\u00a0 <\/span>We are supposed to\r\nbe the kings that Jesus is King of.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>Among the areas of responsibility and function that kings operate in is\r\nto execute judgment.\u00a0 <\/span>That judgment\r\ngenerally has a finality to it.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Take\r\na look at some of the ways that kings\u2019 judgment is described by Solomon in\r\nProverbs:<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Proverbs\r\n8:12-21<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty\r\ninventions. The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the\r\nevil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate. Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom:\r\nI am understanding; I have strength. By me kings reign, and princes decree\r\njustice. By me princes rule, and nobles, even all the judges of the earth. I\r\nlove them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me. Riches and\r\nhonour are with me; yea, durable riches and righteousness. My fruit is better\r\nthan gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver. I lead in\r\nthe way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment: That I may\r\ncause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Proverbs\r\n16:12-15<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness: for the\r\nthrone is established by righteousness.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>Righteous lips are the delight of kings; and they love him that speaketh\r\nright.\u00a0 <\/span>The wrath of a king is as\r\nmessengers of death: but a wise man will pacify it. In the light of the king\u2019s\r\ncountenance is life; and his favour is as a cloud of the latter rain.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Proverbs\r\n20:26, 28<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>A wise king scattereth the wicked, and bringeth the wheel over\r\nthem.\u00a0 <\/span>Mercy and truth preserve the king:\r\nand his throne is upholden by mercy.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Proverbs\r\n21:1<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>The king\u2019s heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of\r\nwater: he turneth it whithersoever he will.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

I\r\nrealize that this is a rather narrow selection from the Word, and we could\r\nprobably do many pages of references, but these verses draw a pretty accurate\r\npicture of a king and the way in which God characterizes the role and\r\nboundaries of judgment placed in the hand of the king.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\njudgment that the King of Kings renders is eternal.\u00a0 <\/span>It is based in God\u2019s universal, immutable Law\r\nthat NEVER varies one iota!\u00a0 <\/span>We, as those\r\nkings answerable to the King of Kings, MUST have that character of righteous\r\njudgment and justice operating in and through us!<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

During\r\nthe last few weeks, as I have been meditating on the nature of our authority in\r\nChrist, Holy Spirit has given me some pictures that I would like to share with\r\nyou.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\r\n\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

There\r\nis a whole lot revealed in the way Jesus prayed prior to His taking the\r\ndisciples to the Garden of Gethsemane.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>The words that Jesus prayed reveal His plan and purpose for us, as well\r\nas the destiny we have that Father, Son & Holy Spirit chose for us before\r\nthe foundations of the world.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

John\r\n17:1-5<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span><\/b>Father,\r\nthe hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: As thou\r\nhast given Him power over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as\r\nmany as thou hast given him.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\r\n\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/sup><\/p>\r\n\r\n

And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only\r\ntrue God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. I have glorified thee on the\r\nearth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. And now, O Father,\r\nglorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before\r\nthe world was.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

When\r\nJesus begins His prayer, he makes the statement, \u201c<\/span>As you have given Him <\/span>(<\/span>exousia<\/span><\/i><\/b>) <\/span>authority<\/span>(delegated\r\nright, power, strength, jurisdiction<\/i><\/b>) <\/span>over\r\nall flesh\u2026.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

We\r\ncan see that Father invested and delegated His authority into Jesus Christ.\r\nNext, He says the following:<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u2026.that He should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given\r\nHim. <\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Implicit\r\nin Jesus\u2019 statement is the fact that the authority vested in Him was a natural\r\nbyproduct of eternal life.\u00a0 <\/span>Do you see\r\nit?<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Eternal\r\nLife is forever.\u00a0 <\/span>Flesh is\r\ntransitory.\u00a0 <\/span>\u201cForever\u201d can dictate\r\nconditions, behavior, life in general to \u201cflesh.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u201cFlesh,\u201d\r\nyou see, is the state of fallen men and women.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>\u201cFlesh\u201d describes those who have not taken advantage of the redemption\r\nprovided by the Lord Jesus Christ.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>\u201cFlesh\u201d describes those who have not died with the Lord in the waters of\r\nbaptism and risen from the dead to eternal life in Him.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

We\r\ncould go on and on, but you get the picture, I\u2019m sure!<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Let\u2019s\r\njump ahead in John 17 to the next few verses.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

John\r\n17:6-10<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span>I\r\nhave manifested <\/span>(<\/span>phaneroo<\/span><\/i><\/b>\u2014rendered\r\napparent, revealed)<\/span><\/i><\/b> thy name<\/span> (<\/span>onoma<\/span><\/i><\/b>)<\/span> unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they\r\nwere, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word. Now they have known\r\nthat all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee. <\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

You\r\nsee what Jesus is saying, right?\u00a0 <\/span>He has\r\nrevealed and made the disciples to know and understand what the character,\r\nnature and essence of Father is.\u00a0 <\/span>He\r\ncontinues with saying that these were with Father in the beginning, that they\r\nbelonged to Him, prior to Father releasing them to Jesus.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\r\n\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/sup><\/p>\r\n\r\n

For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and\r\nthey have received them<\/i>, and have known surely that I came out from\r\nthee, and they have believed that thou didst send me.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

This\r\nis critical to knowing and understanding where our authority comes from, and\r\nwhy we have this kind of supernatural authority.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which\r\nthou hast given me; for they are thine. And all mine are thine, and thine are\r\nmine; and I am glorified in them.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Jesus\r\nnow says that things have gone full circle.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>The disciples were with Father before He delegated them to Jesus.\u00a0 <\/span>Now Jesus has accomplished in them those\r\nrevelations they needed to have in order to function as Him in the world, and\r\nis returning their care and existence to Father.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

We\r\ncontinue on in Jesus\u2019 Prayer.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

John\r\n17:11-16<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span>And\r\nnow I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee.\r\nHoly Father, keep through thine own name <\/span>(<\/span>onoma<\/span><\/i><\/b>)<\/span> those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are<\/i>.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\r\n \u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name <\/span>(<\/span>onoma<\/span><\/i><\/b>)<\/span>: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is\r\nlost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

This\r\nis an interesting revelation.\u00a0 <\/span>Jesus\r\nmaintained the disciples existence through Father\u2019s nature, character and\r\nmakeup.\u00a0 <\/span>Now He is returning their keep\r\nto Father (because of his impending departure) and requesting that Father\r\ncontinue to maintain that supernatural existence in them so that they could\r\ncontinue His ministry and existence in the world.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Let\u2019s\r\nexpand on this revelation next week.<\/span><\/p>\r\n
