It has been a constant source\r\nof amazement to me that Jesus has always been painted as poor and indigent --\r\nnever mind what the Word clearly states.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>Ever since the Council of Nicaea in 325 AD,error after error after error\r\nhas crept into the body of Christ, and promulgated with traditions that have no\r\nvalidity in the Word.\u00a0 <\/span>The compromises\r\nthat Constantine made with church leaders in order to bring the Roman Army into\r\nthe church and declare them to be \"Christian\" have contaminated the\r\ntruth ever since.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Before\r\nwe launch into some Biblical and historical facts, let me strongly recommend\r\nthe following DVD to you and a good site where you can purchase it.\u00a0 <\/span>Christian Book Distributors (CBD) sells THE STAR OF BETHLEHEM<\/a><\/span> (Click \r\nHere):<\/a> <\/i><\/b>produced by\r\nattorney, Stephen McEveety.\u00a0 <\/span>My reason for\r\nrecommending this DVD to you is that it provides extremely accurate\r\nastronomical data in demonstrating just when Jesus was born and when the Magi\r\nvisited Him.<\/o:p><\/i><\/b><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

We've\r\nall been contaminated throughout the generations with the idea that Jesus was\r\nborn on what amounts to December 25th on the Julian calendar.\u00a0 <\/span>The problem with the Julian calendar is that\r\nit is totally out of sync with God's calendar -- the calendar everyone likes to\r\nrefer to as the Hebrew or Jewish calendar.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>It misses completely the Word that was given at Creation when God\r\nspecifically said:<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Genesis 1:14-18,\r\nKJV<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\r\n<\/span>And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the\r\nheaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for\r\nseasons, and for days, and years<\/u>: And let them be for lights in the\r\nfirmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. And God\r\nmade two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light\r\nto rule the night: he made<\/i> the stars also.\u00a0 <\/span>And God set them in the firmament of the\r\nheaven to give light upon the earth, And to rule over the day and over the\r\nnight, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was<\/i>\r\ngood.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nkey here is that God specifically made the Sun, the Moon and the Stars -- NOT\r\njust for a division between day and night, but for His signs, for seasons, for\r\ndays and for years!\u00a0 <\/span>That's critical to\r\nour understanding as we move forward.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

With\r\nthis concept firmly planted let's look now at some specific days that God\r\nordained to be set aside as His days.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

First\r\nis the Feast of Passover.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\"And thus shall ye eat it; with<\/i> your loins girded,\r\nyour shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in\r\nhaste: it is<\/i> the LORD\u2019S Passover.\"<\/span>\u00a0\r\n<\/span>(Exodus 12:11)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\"And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye\r\nshall keep it a feast to the LORD throughout your generations; ye shall keep\r\nit a feast by an ordinance forever<\/u>.\"<\/span>\u00a0\r\n<\/span>(Exodus 12:14)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\"And ye shall observe the feast of<\/i> unleavened bread;\r\nfor in this selfsame day have I brought your armies out of the land of Egypt: therefore\r\nshall ye observe this day in your generations by an ordinance forever<\/u>. In\r\nthe first month<\/i>, on the fourteenth day of the month at even, ye shall\r\neat unleavened bread, until the one and twentieth day of the month at even.\r\nSeven days shall there be no leaven found in your houses: for whosoever eateth\r\nthat which is leavened, even that soul shall be cut off from the congregation\r\nof Israel, whether he be a stranger, or born in the land. Ye shall eat nothing\r\nleavened; in all your habitations shall ye eat unleavened bread.\"<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>(Exodus 12:17-20)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

What\r\nwe see with this Feast is that this was an event to be celebrated\r\n\"forever!\"\u00a0 <\/span>That word in the\r\nHebrew text is 'olam<\/span><\/i><\/b> -- a word which can be\r\ntranslated: <\/span>throughout\r\nthe eternity of the eternities<\/span><\/u><\/b>.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>This was not just a Jewish feast, or one that Israel ONLY was supposed\r\nto keep: this feast was kept by Christians continually until Constantine's\r\n\"Edict of Toleration\" in which Christians were forbidden to honor it.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Let's\r\ncontinue.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

In\r\nthe seventh month on God's calendar, He specified the following feasts:<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Leviticus 23:24-25,\r\nKJV<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>Speak unto the\r\nchildren of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day<\/i> of\r\nthe month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets<\/u>,\r\nan holy convocation. Ye shall do no servile work therein<\/i>: but ye shall\r\noffer an offering made by fire unto the LORD.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nfirst day of the seventh month, therefore, begins with what we know as\r\n\"The Feast of Trumpets.\"\u00a0 <\/span>Then\r\nwe see the following:<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Leviticus 23:26-31,\r\nKJV<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>And the LORD spake\r\nunto Moses, saying, Also on the tenth day<\/i> of this seventh month there\r\nshall be<\/u><\/i> a day of atonement<\/u>: it shall be an holy convocation\r\nunto you; and ye shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire\r\nunto the LORD. And ye shall do no work in that same day: for it is<\/i> a day\r\nof atonement, to make an atonement for you before the LORD your God. For\r\nwhatsoever soul it be<\/i> that shall not be afflicted in that same day, he\r\nshall be cut off from among his people. And whatsoever soul it be<\/i> that\r\ndoeth any work in that same day, the same soul will I destroy from among his\r\npeople. Ye shall do no manner of work: it shall be<\/i> a statute for ever\r\nthroughout your generations in all your dwellings.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Thus,\r\non the tenth day of the seventh month, we see the Day of Atonement.\u00a0 <\/span>There's a term that appears here that gets\r\nmissed in the English translation out of the Hebrew, the word, dor<\/span><\/i><\/b> (which comes from the root, dur<\/span><\/i><\/b>) and is translated\r\n\"generations.\"\u00a0 <\/span>In fact, the\r\nword more properly translates as: <\/span>a revolution of time<\/span>.\u00a0 <\/span>The root word, dur<\/span><\/i><\/b>,\r\nmeans: <\/span>to revolve, to move continually in a circle<\/span>.\u00a0 <\/span>While the translation,\r\n\"generations,\" certainly applies, our English word loses the picture\r\nof revolving continually without end -- hence, <\/span>time\r\nwithout end<\/span><\/b>!\u00a0 <\/span>I'll talk more about this momentarily.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

But\r\nwe're not done with the seventh month.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Leviticus 23:33-41,\r\nKJV<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>And the LORD spake\r\nunto Moses, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, The fifteenth\r\nday of this seventh month shall be<\/i> the feast of tabernacles<\/u>for<\/i>\r\nseven days unto the LORD. On the first day shall be<\/i> an holy convocation:\r\nye shall do no servile work therein<\/i>. Seven days ye shall offer an\r\noffering made by fire unto the LORD: on the eighth day shall be an holy\r\nconvocation unto you; and ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the\r\nLORD: it is<\/i> a solemn assembly; and<\/i> ye shall do no servile work therein<\/i>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/sup><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

These are<\/i> the feasts of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim\r\nto be<\/i> holy convocations, to offer an offering made by fire unto the\r\nLORD, a burnt offering, and a meat offering, a sacrifice, and drink offerings,\r\neverything upon his day: Beside the sabbaths of the LORD, and beside your\r\ngifts, and beside all your vows, and beside all your freewill offerings, which\r\nye give unto the LORD. <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/sup><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Also in the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when ye have\r\ngathered in the fruit of the land, ye shall keep a feast unto the LORD seven\r\ndays: on the first day shall be<\/i> a sabbath, and on the eighth day shall\r\nbe<\/i> a sabbath. And ye shall take you on the first day the boughs of goodly\r\ntrees, branches of palm trees, and the boughs of thick trees, and willows of\r\nthe brook; and ye shall rejoice before the LORD your God seven days. And ye\r\nshall keep it a feast unto the LORD seven days in the year. It shall be<\/u><\/i>\r\na statute forever in your generations<\/u>: ye shall celebrate it in the seventh\r\nmonth.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

During\r\nthe early years of the body of Christ -- in fact, during the first couple of\r\ncenturies -- Christians kept these feasts.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>They understood that God's command to keep these feasts 'olam<\/span><\/i><\/b> -- <\/span>throughout the eternity of the eternities<\/span><\/u><\/b> -- didn't just\r\napply to the Jews under the Mosaic Law, God's command applied to His people --\r\nand there was no question that as Christians, they had been grafted into God's\r\nselect company.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Sadly,\r\nChristians today have been stuck with the belief that to keep these feasts is\r\nto be stuck with and caught up in legalism.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>To be sure, we don't offer burnt offerings; WE are the burnt offering\r\nunto the Lord, having been purified by the blood of Jesus and by the Holy Ghost\r\nand fire!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Now,\r\nI know many of you are looking cross-eyed at me and saying, \"What in the\r\nworld does any of this have to do with Christmas?\"\u00a0 <\/span>My first answer to you is, \"watch the\r\nDVD, <\/span> THE STAR OF BETHLEHEM<\/a><\/span>:<\/a> <\/i><\/b><\/span>\r\n.\"\u00a0 <\/span>My second answer is, \"consider the\r\nsignificance of the dates on the Hebrew calendar within the framework of Jesus'\r\nbirth, His death on the Cross, His resurrection, His command to the disciples\r\nto NOT go forth to teach or to preach \"until ye be endued with power from\r\non high\" -- and event which began with Pentecost -- and, finally, His\r\npromise that He would return to dwell with us again.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Consider,\r\nnow the following implications of these feasts, and how they relate.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

On\r\nthe night that Jesus was born, Luke records that shepherds were in the fields,\r\nwatching their flocks during the night.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>That is not a wintertime event in Israel.\u00a0 <\/span>Because Luke tells us that the angel of the\r\nLord came to tell the shepherds of the birth of the Messiah, and immediately\r\nfollowing the sky was filled with angelic hosts praising God and saying,\r\n\"Glory to God in the highest, and on earth, peace, good will toward\r\nmen.\"<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

According\r\nto all that we can ascertain historically, and considering corresponding events\r\nin the heavens that are clearly recorded, this would have happened as early as\r\nthe fourth of September on our calendar (and the first day of the seventh month\r\non the Hebrew calendar, Tishrei), or as late as the 24th of September (also the\r\nfirst day of the seventh month on the Hebrew calendar).\u00a0 <\/span>This places Jesus' birth on the Feast of Trumpets.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Using\r\nthe phenomenal work that Stephen McEveety did with his astronomical research as\r\nit relates to the Star of Bethlehem that announced Jesus' birth, and the travel\r\ntime that it took the Magi to reach the young child after having seen the Star,\r\nwe know from the Greek text of Matthew 2:8 that by the time they reached Jesus,\r\nthat he was above two years of age.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

How\r\ndo we know this, you ask?\u00a0 <\/span>The Greek word\r\nused in Matthew 2:8 is the word, paidion<\/span><\/i><\/b>.\u00a0 <\/span>This word is significant because it does not\r\ndescribe a new-born babe.\u00a0 <\/span>Consider the\r\nfive words in Greek that describe the growth and development of a person.\u00a0 <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

(1)<\/span><\/b>Brephos<\/span><\/i><\/b> describes a child\r\nin the womb between conception and birth.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>(2)<\/span>Nepios<\/span><\/i><\/b>\r\ndescribes a child between birth and the age of two when it is expected that the\r\nchild has been weaned from the mother's milk.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>(3) <\/span>Paidion<\/span><\/i><\/b>\r\ndescribes a child after being weaned from the mother's breast until it reaches\r\nthe age of 12 (for a boy) or 13 (for a girl).<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

(4)<\/span><\/b>Teknon<\/span><\/i><\/b> describes a child\r\nwho has reached the age of accountability.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>[From a spiritual perspective, Paul describes this in Galatians 4:1-2 as\r\n<\/span>\"being under tutors and governors until the time appointed\r\nby the father.\"<\/span>\r\nThe ceremony for a boy at age 12 is bar-mitzvah<\/span><\/i><\/b>.\u00a0 <\/span>The ceremony for a girl at age 13 is known as\r\nbat-mitzvah<\/span><\/i><\/b>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

(5)<\/span><\/b>Huios<\/span><\/i><\/b> is the word that\r\ndescribes a son who has generally reached the approximate age of 30, has\r\nfinished his tutoring and has father's approval to act in his stead to operate\r\nfather's business in his name.\u00a0 <\/span>Once\r\n\"the time appointed of the father\" is reached, a general ceremony\r\ntakes place in which father announces to his friends and associates, \"this\r\nis my beloved son in whom I am well pleased.\"<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

As\r\nis obvious, it takes no great imagination to see this same pattern unfolding\r\nwith Jesus.\u00a0 <\/span>Tracking the position in the\r\nsky of the Star of Bethlehem that led the Magi to Jesus in Bethlehem, we have\r\nevery reason to believe that they arrived at the home of Mary and Joseph to\r\nbestow their incredible and lavish gifts on this young \"King of\r\nKings\" on December 25th, if you correlate it to the Julian calendar. <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Going\r\nback to my opening commentary on the fact that so many Christians think Jesus\r\nlived His life in abject poverty, the Magi came to see Jesus \u2013 either as kings\r\nthemselves, or as representing kings from major eastern countries \u2013 to honor\r\nHim as the King of Kings.\u00a0 <\/span>Kings NEVER\r\nbrought token gifts to other kings, and in this case, the Magi would have\r\nbrought lavish gifts.\u00a0 <\/span>If we use the\r\nanalogy of the Queen of Sheba bringing what calculates in modern terms to the\r\nequivalent of $119 Million in gold as a gift honoring Solomon, the Magi would\r\nhave brought nothing less to the One they were honoring as the King of Kings!!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

I\r\nhave no problem celebrating December 25th as an important day in Jesus' life,\r\nbut it was not the day that Jesus was born.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>Using Steven McEveety\u2019s calculations from the signs in the Heavens, it\r\nis most probably the day that Jesus was conceived in Mary\u2019s womb \u2013 the day that\r\nthe Angel, Gabriel, appeared to her and announced that she would be the mother\r\nof the long-awaited Messiah!\u00a0 <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

December\r\n25th was a day adopted by Constantine in agreement with the various bishops --\r\na day that corresponded with a heathen feast, Saturnalia, on the Roman\r\ncalendar.\u00a0 <\/span>Constantine issued an edict in\r\nutter ignorance of God's commands which forbade the Christians to observe what\r\nhe called \"Jewish feast days,\" when in fact Christians had been celebrating\r\nthem continuously.\u00a0 <\/span>Jesus kept the\r\nfeasts, and the feasts were signs of major events on God's calendar.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Let\r\nme wrap up quickly today by saying that at the exact moment during the Feast of\r\nPassover at 3:00 PM in the afternoon (specifically on the Day of Atonement)\r\nwhen the High Priest was slitting the throat of the sacrificial lamb, Jesus\r\nexpired on the Cross -- slain for the sins of the world as the once-and-for-all\r\nsacrifice.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

When\r\nJesus rose from the dead and appeared to hundreds of people over a period of\r\nsome 40 days, and then prepared to ascend into heaven, he instructed the\r\ndisciples to \"tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem until ye be endued with\r\npower from on High.\"<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Fifty\r\ndays from the day that He was crucified and died on the Cross, the Feast of\r\nPentecost was celebrated, and Luke tells us in Acts 2 that when the day of\r\nPentecost <\/span>\"was fully come\"<\/span> the disciples, their families and others\r\nwho had joined with them <\/span>\"were all with one accord in one place.\"<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Luke\r\ngoes on to tell us of the unfolding of Pentecost as Holy Spirit appeared as\r\nfire, tongues of fire sat down on the heads of those gathered, <\/span>\"And\r\nthey were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues,\r\nas the Spirit gave them utterance.\"<\/span>\u00a0\r\n<\/span>Thus, the Feast of Pentecost -- as a feast to be commemorated\r\ncontinually among God's people -- took on the manifestation that Jesus promised\r\nbefore He ascended into Heaven.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

If\r\nI understand anything at all regarding the Feasts being a fulfillment of God's\r\ntimetable for His people, then we can expect Jesus to return to fulfill the\r\nFeast of Tabernacles in order to dwell with us continually.\u00a0 <\/span>The Feast of Tabernacles is on the 15th day\r\nof the seventh month, the month of Tishrei.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Thus\r\nwe see the pattern unfolding in Tishrei: (1) <\/span><\/b>on the first day of the month, we\r\ncelebrate the Feast of Trumpets -- the day that Jesus was born; (2) <\/span><\/b>on\r\nthe 10th day of the month, we celebrate the Feast of Atonement, when Jesus\r\nbecame the sacrificial lamb -- the <\/span>\"Lamb slain from\r\nthe foundation of the earth\"<\/span>;<\/span> and (3)<\/span><\/b> the 15th day of the seventh\r\nmonth, which is the Feast of Tabernacles.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>Jesus was and is the pattern Son for us all.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

That\r\nsaid, Merry Christmas to you all!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n
