\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

It may appear that I\r\ngo overboard with this but I can't help it.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>I get started with this stuff and can't stop.\u00a0 <\/span>I love the parallels in Scripture.\u00a0 <\/span>Math and mathematical principles abound in\r\nthe Word of God.\u00a0 <\/span>God is very precise in\r\neverything that He does, and we govern our lives according to that precision.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Math\r\nwas always one of my favorite subjects in school.\u00a0 <\/span>From the time I was in grade school, junior\r\nhigh, high school\/college (you remember that I never attended a regular high\r\nschool \u2013 I went straight from 8th<\/sup> grade into classes with the\r\nUniversity of Nebraska), math was one of my easiest and most fun subjects.\u00a0 <\/span>It just came easy.\u00a0 <\/span>Guess it's one of those gifts the Lord gave\r\nme from my youth up.\u00a0 <\/span>Remembering\r\nmathematical formulas was always a piece of cake.\u00a0 <\/span>Just kind of goes along with engineering,\r\ntoo, if you know what I mean \u2013 hence my near-lifelong involvement in\r\nbroadcasting engineering and electronics.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Anyway,\r\none of the things they teach you in math is that the laws of physics dictate\r\nreciprocals.\u00a0 <\/span>A reciprocal is always the\r\nexact, polar opposite of whatever number or numerical equation.\u00a0 <\/span>Kind of goes like this: the reciprocal of 2\/3\r\nis 3\/2.\u00a0 <\/span>The reciprocal of 27\/32 is\r\n32\/27.\u00a0 <\/span>The reciprocal of \u00bd is 2\/1 \u2013 and\r\nso forth.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

An\r\nexample of a reciprocal formula goes like this:\u00a0\r\n<\/span><\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nreciprocal of north is south.\u00a0 <\/span>The\r\nreciprocal of east is west \u2013 and vice-versa.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>If you have a positive or a plus, the reciprocal is a negative, or a\r\nminus.\u00a0 <\/span>That\u2019s a bit over-generalizing,\r\nbut you get the idea.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Reciprocals,\r\nhowever, are not just laws of mathematics.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>They are not simply laws of physics.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Reciprocals\r\nare laws of nature.\u00a0 <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Reciprocals\r\nare also laws of the spirit.\u00a0 <\/span>Let me\r\nillustrate.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

In\r\nhis epistle to the Ekklesias in Rome, Paul writes, <\/span>\u201cThere is<\/span> therefore now no\r\ncondemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh,\r\nbut after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath\r\nmade me free from the law of sin and death.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0\r\n<\/span>(Romans 8:1-2)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

See\r\nthe reciprocal?\u00a0 <\/span>The positive is <\/span>\u201cthe\r\nlaw of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus.\u201d\u00a0\r\n<\/span><\/span>The\r\nnegative, or reciprocal, is <\/span>\u201cthe law of sin and death.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>We can come back to this in a minute, but\r\nlet\u2019s look at some others.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

In\r\nJohn\u2019s first general epistle to the body of Christ (I John 4:18), he writes,<\/span>\r\n\u201cThere is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath\r\ntorment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

There\u2019s\r\na perfect example of spiritual reciprocals: love and fear.\u00a0 <\/span>We usually think of love and hate as being\r\nreciprocals, or opposites, but the truth is that hate comes out of fear.\u00a0 <\/span>Hatred is a byproduct of fear.\u00a0 <\/span>The true reciprocal to love is actually fear.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

There\u2019s\r\nanother aspect to this picture of love and fear also.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\napostle Paul amplifies this while talking about another spiritual reciprocal:\r\ncircumcision and uncircumcision.\u00a0 <\/span>In\r\nGalatians 5:6 we read, <\/span>\u201cFor in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availethany thing, nor\r\nuncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

I\r\nhave frequently referred to faith and fear as working in the same realm \u2013 as\r\nbeing opposites of the same thing; and here\u2019s where it comes from.\u00a0 <\/span>Faith and love are inseparable.\u00a0 <\/span>They work together.\u00a0 <\/span>Faith works by love; and love works by and\r\nthrough faith.\u00a0 <\/span>Think about it for a second.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Take\r\naway love and faith is non-existent.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>Without love, there is no motivator, no force and means by which faith\r\ncan function.\u00a0 <\/span>It is our love of the Lord\r\nby which faith functions.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Applying\r\nthat rule to the faith\/fear picture, we look once again at what John wrote, and\r\nthis time, let me give you my translation from the Greek: <\/span>\u201cThere\r\nis no fear or terror in love, but perfected, completed and mature love casts\r\nout fear or terror; because fear with alarm and terror inflicts punishment and\r\ntorment.\u00a0 <\/span>He who is tormented and\r\nafflicted with fright and alarm cannot be made whole and complete in love.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Now,\r\nlet\u2019s go back to the two primary laws of the Spirit.\u00a0 <\/span>The first law, as we\u2019ve already said, is <\/span>\u201cThere is<\/span> therefore now no\r\ncondemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh,\r\nbut after the Spirit. <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Simply\r\nstated, that law is described as the Law\r\nof the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus<\/u><\/b>.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>It is absolute, and it is unequivocal.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>One cannot enjoy a condemnation-free life unless they walk after the\r\nSpirit.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nreciprocal and polar opposite law is described by the apostle Paul as the Law of Sin and Death<\/u><\/b>.\u00a0 <\/span>This law was implemented when Adam and Eve\r\nate of the fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.\u00a0 <\/span>The Law of Sin and Death was the natural\r\nconsequence.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Because\r\nthis law is final in its effects and consequences, and the human race as a\r\nwhole has been infected by the knowledge virus which brings sin and death,\r\nthere is no deliverance in the natural realm from the consequences of this\r\nlaw.\u00a0 <\/span>The tragedy is that this law need\r\nnot ever have been put into force.\u00a0 <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Had\r\nAdam and Eve never eaten of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, their\r\nseed would never have inherited the sinful arrogance and pride that comes from\r\neating of the knowledge of good; and their children would never have known the\r\ncontrast of evil with good, they would never have been infected by the Fear of\r\nEvil, and there would never have been a reciprocal in operation for the Law of\r\nthe Spirit of Life.\u00a0 <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nparallel to the Law of the Spirit of Life is the Law of Love.\u00a0 <\/span>Jesus made the following command to\r\nbelievers, <\/span>\u201cThis is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have\r\nloved you.\u201d <\/span>We\u2019ll\r\ncome back to this law momentarily.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Based\r\non this commandment, the apostle Paul expands on the differences between the\r\nLaw of the Spirit of Life, and the Law of Sin and Death.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

First\r\nof all, he says (Galatians 5:17), <\/span>\u201cFor the flesh lusteth\r\nagainst the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary\r\nthe one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.\u00a0 <\/span>But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not\r\nunder the law.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

In\r\nso saying, he makes clear the fact that one cannot serve the desires of the\r\nflesh, walk after the Law of Sin and Death, and still walk after the Law of the\r\nSpirit of Life in Christ Jesus.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

He\r\ncontinues, <\/span>\u201cNow the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these<\/span>; Adultery, fornication,\r\nuncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance,\r\nemulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness,\r\nrevellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you<\/span> in time past, that they which do\r\nsuch things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Then\r\nhe illustrates the Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus by saying, <\/span>\u201cBut\r\nthe fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness,\r\ngoodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they\r\nthat are Christ\u2019s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we\r\nlive in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Notice\r\nthat the very first item that comes from walking after the Law of the Spirit of\r\nLife is love<\/b>.\u00a0 <\/span>Once again, it is clear that the parallel to\r\nthis primary law is love.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

I\r\nwon\u2019t take the time today to rehearse the 13th<\/sup> chapter of I\r\nCorinthians (known as the \u201clove chapter\u201d) but the evidence of the Law of Love\r\nworking in you IS<\/b> the fruit of the\r\nSpirit, among which also we find faith. If the first evidence of our walk after\r\nthe Spirit of Life is love, it follows that faith must also be\r\noperational.\u00a0 <\/span>This brings us back to one\r\nof our first pictures of a spiritual reciprocal: faith and fear.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Faith\r\nand fear are polar opposites.\u00a0 <\/span>One cannot\r\nhave faith and be afraid of anything.\u00a0 <\/span>It\r\nis simply incompatible.\u00a0 <\/span>Faith comes by\r\nhearing the Word of God.\u00a0 <\/span>Once you\u2019ve\r\nheard that Word and it is lodged in your mind, your heart and your spirit, it\r\nbecomes evidentiary.\u00a0 <\/span>Once you have\r\nfaith, you begin to talk faith.\u00a0 <\/span>It comes\r\nout of our mouth as a creative force.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>You expect God\u2019s Word to be fulfilled.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>After all, He has NEVER said anything He didn\u2019t fulfill or\r\naccomplish.\u00a0 <\/span>And you act on that Word\r\nwith that expectation.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Fear\r\nis faith in reverse.\u00a0 <\/span>With fear, you\r\nbelieve that something evil is going to happen.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>Once you believe it, you speak it.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>Once you speak it, you begin to take action to prevent or deal with the\r\nexpected impending evil, despite the fact that fear is only imaginary\r\nevil.\u00a0 <\/span>What\u2019s worse, the voice of fear in\r\nyour spirit is lying to you and speaking something that is directly contradictory\r\nto the Word of God.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Let\r\nme illustrate.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

In\r\nPsalm 91, David wrote, <\/span>\u201cThou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor<\/span> for the arrow that<\/span>flieth by day; nor for the\r\npestilence that<\/span> walketh in\r\ndarkness; nor<\/span> for the\r\ndestruction that<\/span>wasteth at\r\nnoonday.\u00a0 <\/span>A thousand shall fall at thy\r\nside, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but<\/span> it shall not come nigh thee.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the\r\nwicked.\u00a0 <\/span>Because thou hast made the LORD,\r\nwhich is<\/span> my refuge, even<\/span> the most High, thy habitation;\r\nThere shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy\r\ndwelling.\u00a0 <\/span>For he shall give his angels\r\ncharge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

How\r\nmuch clearer do you want things? <\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u201cThere shall NO evil befall thee, neither\r\nshall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

It\r\nis unequivocal and uncompromising.\u00a0 <\/span>There\r\nare no \u201cifs,\u201d \u201cbuts\u201d or \u201cmaybes.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>David\r\ndescribes the condition under which this Truth is operational when he says, <\/span>\u201cHe\r\nthat dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow\r\nof the Almighty.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Then\r\nhe writes, <\/span>\u201cBecause thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the\r\nmost High, thy habitation, there shall no evil befall thee\u2026..\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Finally,\r\nhe says, <\/span>\u201cBecause he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver\r\nhim.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Here\u2019s\r\nthe best one of all: <\/span>\u201cWith long life will I satisfy him, and show him my salvation.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

So\r\nmuch for insurance policies!\u00a0 <\/span>Insurance\r\npolicies are all taken out in fear of what might happen.\u00a0 <\/span>If we live our lives on the basis of what the\r\nLord says will happen, there can be no \u201cwhat if,\u201d or \u201csuppose.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>The Word of God is clear, unambiguous and\r\nunequivocal.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Faith\r\nsays that God never lies.\u00a0 <\/span>Faith says\r\nthat God\u2019s Word is Truth.\u00a0 <\/span>Faith says,\r\n\u201cIf God says it, I believe it; and that settles it!\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>Faith takes positive action and steps to\r\nfollow after the Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Fear,\r\non the other hand, says, \u201cHath God said?\u201d\u00a0\r\n<\/span>Fear takes portions of Scripture out of context and twists them so as to\r\ncause doubt and unbelief.\u00a0 <\/span>Suppose Jesus\r\nhad listened to Satan quoting the 91st<\/sup> Psalm when he tempted Jesus\r\nto jump off the pinnacle of the Temple because <\/span>\u201cHe shall give his\r\nangels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest\r\nat any time thou dash thy foot against a stone\u201d?<\/span>\u00a0\r\n<\/span>It would have been to dare God\u2019s Word.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>It would have amounted to nothing less than an expression of doubt and\r\nunbelief that God\u2019s Word was true.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

I\r\ndon\u2019t want to go there today because it\u2019s another long discussion, but one of\r\nmy pet gripes against some would-be Christians is the great lengths to which\r\nthey go to prepare for the \u201cGreat Tribulation.\u201d\u00a0\r\n<\/span>I refer to them as \u201cwould-be\u201d because they live their lives in fear of\r\ndoom and gloom instead of living their lives in absolute faith and trust in the\r\nWord of God.\u00a0 <\/span>They live their lives\r\nlooking for the end rather than a continuing life enveloped in Christ Jesus.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

I\r\ndon't want to beat people up who've been stuck with a \"Tribulation\"\r\nmentality.\u00a0 <\/span>They just haven't received\r\nthe revelation that Heaven is NOT our objective.\u00a0 <\/span>Heaven isn't even our final dwelling\r\nplace.\u00a0 <\/span>Heaven is only a stopover for\r\nEternity.\u00a0 <\/span>JESUS is our objective!\u00a0 <\/span>He MUST be our only objective!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

As\r\nJohn closes out the book of Revelation, he says, <\/span>\u201cBut the fearful, and\r\nunbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and\r\nsorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake\r\nwhich burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

In\r\nso saying, he places the fearful and unbelieving in the same category as\r\nmurderers and whoremongers (the sexually promiscuous).\u00a0 <\/span>John makes it clear that those who live their\r\nlives in fear cannot inherit the Kingdom of God.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Faith\r\nand Fear.\u00a0 <\/span>Love and Fear.\u00a0 <\/span>Believing and Unbelieving.\u00a0 <\/span>Circumcision and Uncircumcision.\u00a0 <\/span>(That\u2019s a metaphoric way of describing those\r\nwho either live by the Law [of Moses], or those who live by the Law of Faith in\r\nChrist Jesus.)\u00a0 <\/span>The Law of the Spirit of\r\nLife in Christ Jesus vs. the Law of Sin and Death.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

These\r\nare spiritual laws.\u00a0 <\/span>They are spiritual\r\nreciprocals.\u00a0 <\/span>What are you choosing?<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

I've quoted him before and I'll quote him again --\r\nmy lifetime friend and brother in the Lord, Dwain McKenzie, \"Things are\r\nnot what they seem to be, they\u2019re what God says they are!\"<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n
