\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

We got started last week on this\r\nlook at the number, 12, and the significance it plays in the picture of the New\r\nJerusalem.\u00a0 <\/span>The New Jerusalem, of course,\r\nis the portrayal of the Bride of Christ John saw and wrote about in Revelation\r\n21.\u00a0 <\/span>Because the number 12 has such\r\nsignificance as a metaphor for the completed Bride, the Bride who has gone\r\nthrough the fire, been tested, and overcame all in order to become the\r\nCounterpart and Other Self of the Lord Jesus Christ, we see all of the other\r\nintricacies of this number unfold before us.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Last\r\nweek, we said that the New Jerusalem does not only consist of Jews.\u00a0 <\/span>Representing the call to, and gathering from,\r\nthe nations are the twelve foundation stones, and on them the names of the\r\ntwelve apostles who made up that first Ekklesia.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\ndual groups of 144,000 represent the two Brides \u2013 now made One.\u00a0 <\/span>The significance of the number, 144, is that\r\nit is 12 X 12; that is, a finished, a completed, a fully tested and tried\r\npeople.\u00a0 <\/span>The work of the Paraklete in\r\nEkklesia has been accomplished.\u00a0 <\/span>The time\r\nof Ekklesia has come to an end, and the finished Bride has been joined to her\r\nBridegroom.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

If\r\nyou will recall the vision of Zechariah, he saw the Golden Candlestick between\r\ntwo olive trees.\u00a0 <\/span>When he asked the angel\r\nof the Lord what the two olive trees represented, the angel replied, <\/span>\u201cThese are the two\r\nanointed ones, that stand by the Lord of the whole earth.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>(Zechariah 4:14)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

While\r\nI recognize that there are other explanations and interpretations of these two\r\n\u201canointed ones,\u201d I am convinced that they represent the two segments of the\r\ncompleted and anointed Bride.\u00a0 <\/span>The two\r\nolive trees are the source of the olive oil used in the Golden\r\nCandlestick.\u00a0 <\/span>The Golden Candlestick was\r\nalways representative of the flame of love burning night and day for the\r\nBridegroom.\u00a0 <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

In\r\nZechariah\u2019s vision, there is only one candlestick \u2013 not two.\u00a0 <\/span>The flame of the Bride is one.\u00a0 <\/span>But it burns out of the oil from two source\r\nolive trees: the Bride taken from Israel<\/st1:country-region><\/st1:place>, and the Bride taken from\r\namong the nations of the earth.\u00a0 <\/span>The\r\nolive is metaphoric of the crushing process which takes place during Ekklesia\r\nas the Bride is prepared.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

A\r\ncorollary to this picture is the evidence of the two witnesses who appeared\r\nwith Jesus on the Mount of Transfiguration.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>Peter, James and John saw Moses and Elijah.\u00a0 <\/span>Moses is representative of the Law, and the\r\nBride of Law.\u00a0 <\/span>Elijah typifies the Spirit,\r\nand the Bride of the Spirit.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

John\r\nwitnesses this in two other sets of measurements.\u00a0 <\/span>The city is 12,000 furlongs (roughly a\r\ndistance of 1,500 miles) long, 12,000 furlongs wide and 12,000 furlongs\r\nhigh.\u00a0 <\/span>Thus you have the twelve\r\nmultiplied by a thousand in triplicate.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>It is a square of twelve.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Then\r\nJohn sees as the wall of the city is measured, 144 cubits thick.\u00a0 <\/span>Again he is shown the completion of the work\r\nof the Paraklete in Ekklesia as the city is protected by a barrier measuring 12\r\nX 12 cubits (roughly 216 feet) in thickness.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>That barrier is the work of the Holy Spirit in the erection, the\r\nbuilding, and the fortification and complete protection wrought in the realm of\r\nthe spirit within the Bride.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\npicture of the city with its measurements, the makeup of the foundations in\r\ntwelve specific precious stones, and the representation of the gates in pearls,\r\nall depict a finished, a glorified, a united people \u2013 all grafted and\r\nintegrated together -- made One with Jesus Christ.\u00a0 <\/span>The study of the New Jerusalem is a study of\r\nthe completed Bride.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

There\r\nis no more Bride of Flesh or a Bride of Law, separated from the Bride of\r\nSpirit, or the Bride of Love.\u00a0 <\/span>Jesus\r\nChrist has reconciled all to Himself.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

By\r\nthis, I do not mean that the flesh and the Law can coexist with the Spirit and\r\nlove.\u00a0 <\/span>They can not!\u00a0 <\/span>This is not a picture of the Bride of flesh\r\ncontinuing to serve the flesh, or the Bride of Law continuing in her bondage to\r\nthe Law.\u00a0 <\/span>Jesus was the end \u2013 the\r\ncompletion of the Law.\u00a0 <\/span>He was its\r\nobjective!\u00a0 <\/span>Jesus, however, has made it\r\npossible, and is making it possible, for the those who have served the Law and\r\nthe flesh to have one more opportunity to reject them and overcome by the\r\nSpirit.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nNew Jerusalem is that finished and prepared people, no longer divided by the\r\nLaw from relationship with the Bridegroom, and subservient to the flesh.\u00a0 <\/span>Flesh and Law, Love and Spirit have been\r\nreconciled together in and through Jesus Christ.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Do\r\nyou see it?\u00a0 <\/span>Do you see what the Lord is\r\ndoing among us?\u00a0 <\/span>Do you see why you have\r\nbeen going through the trials and afflictions which never seem to end?\u00a0 <\/span>Do you see the objective of Jesus Christ, our\r\nBridegroom?\u00a0 <\/span>Do you see the two Brides,\r\nmade One?<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

If\r\nyou do, then you see what John was permitted to see in the Spirit!\u00a0 <\/span>If you do, you are seeing the Brightness of\r\nthe Lamb, the Glory of the Father, the surpassing greatness of His Love toward\r\nus.\u00a0 <\/span>It has all been wrought because it\r\nis the will of the Father, the desire of the Son, and the purpose of the Holy\r\nSpirit.\u00a0 <\/span>That will, that desire, that\r\npurpose are all summed up in Jesus Christ\u2019s inheritance in us!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nTale of Two Brides really is just one tale.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Consider\r\nthis.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Jesus\r\nChrist has never had two plans.\u00a0 <\/span>He has\r\nnever had a plan \u201cA,\u201d or a plan \u201cB\u201d if the first plan did not work.\u00a0 <\/span>Israel<\/st1:country-region><\/st1:place> was not Plan \u201cA.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>Neither was the \u201cWhosoever Will Bride\u201d an\r\nalternative to Israel<\/st1:country-region><\/st1:place>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

When\r\nthe first words of Creation were spoken, Jesus knew, as did the Father and the\r\nHoly Spirit, that there was only one plan for one Bride and Counterpart.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Adam\r\nand Eve were not Israelites.\u00a0 <\/span>Contrary to\r\nthe opinion of some, Abraham and Isaac were not of the House of Israel, and\r\nthey were not Jews.\u00a0 <\/span>They were simply the\r\nforebears.\u00a0 <\/span>(I\u2019m not trying to shock\r\nyou.\u00a0 <\/span>I just want you to see past Israel<\/st1:country-region><\/st1:place>\r\nto the reality of the Bridegroom\u2019s call.)\u00a0\r\n<\/span>God\u2019s purpose was never to call Abraham and Isaac and Jacob, and then --\r\nif their descendants missed the boat \u2013 choose an alternative.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Abraham\r\nwas the father of the Bride.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>Period!\u00a0 <\/span>He was the father of\r\nIsaac, and the\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>grandfather of Jacob,\r\nfrom whom descended the twelve tribes of Israel<\/st1:country-region><\/st1:place>.\u00a0 <\/span>He was also the father of those who walk by\r\nfaith.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nfact that Israel<\/st1:country-region><\/st1:place>\r\nfollowed after false gods and missed out so drastically in understanding the\r\npurposes of the Lord did not suddenly make them social outcasts in God\u2019s\r\nsight.\u00a0 <\/span>Neither did the Lord make a big\r\nmistake in choosing Israel<\/st1:country-region><\/st1:place>.\u00a0 <\/span>It has never been a case of Jew versus\r\nGentile, or Hebrew versus Heathen.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

From\r\nthe beginning of time, Adam and Eve, Shem and his wife, Abraham and Sarah,\r\nJacob and Rachel and Leah, Judah and Tamar (the Canaanite), Salmon and Rahab\r\n(the Jebusite), Boaz and Ruth (the Moabite) Joshua and his wife, Caleb and his\r\nwife, David and Bathsheba (the Hittite), Esther and Xerxes (the Persian king)\r\nand a slew of others too numerous to recount, were incorporated into a single\r\nplan, together with those of every generation since the time that Jesus Christ appeared\r\nin person.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Adam\r\nand Eve were the first picture of the Bride in the earth.\u00a0 <\/span>Shem and his wife were the second.\u00a0 <\/span>Isaac and Jacob were the third.\u00a0 <\/span>Israel<\/st1:country-region><\/st1:place> \u2013 the twelve tribes -- was\r\nthe fourth.\u00a0 <\/span>The \u201cWhosoever Will\u201d people\r\nare the fifth.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Along\r\nthe way, the Lord incorporated into Israel<\/st1:country-region><\/st1:place> those whose walk of faith\r\nand perseverance, love and overcoming exemplified His heart for a single people\r\ndrawn from every nation on earth.\u00a0 <\/span>The\r\npicture of Tamar the Canaanite girl, Rahab the Jebusite harlot, and Ruth the\r\nMidianite who descended from Lot, Abraham\u2019s nephew, is a\u00a0 <\/span>picture of those from condemned nations and\r\naccursed lifestyles being incorporated into the Bride because of the remarkable\r\nfaith demonstrated in the face of death.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>In them is the most dramatic demonstration of the opportunity Jesus\r\nChrist has made \u2013 and is making \u2013 for the Bride of flesh to overcome by faith.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Tamar,\r\nRahab, and Ruth were (ex-) citizens of those nations who had been judged,\r\nrejected and cursed by the Lord because of their sins of the flesh and their\r\nsins of the spirit.\u00a0 <\/span>Yet these three\r\nwomen were incorporated not only into the Bride, but into the direct lineage of\r\nJesus Christ because of their stupendous demonstrations of faith in God in the face\r\nof certain death.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

That\r\nwhich occurred on the day of Pentecost was a follow-up to Tamar, to Rahab, to\r\nRuth, to Esther.\u00a0 <\/span>On that day, there were\r\ngathered together some seventeen different peoples or nationalities or ethnic\r\ngroups, all of whom heard the praise and glorifying of Jesus Christ in their\r\nlanguages as they were uttered by the 120 gathered together in the upper\r\nroom.\u00a0 <\/span>Suddenly the Bride began to exist\r\nas Jew and Gentile, Israelite and Arab, bond and free, male and female without\r\nany regard for race, nationality or sex.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

From\r\nthat time to this, there has only been one Bride in the earth.\u00a0 <\/span>Even though we all know that there is a very\r\nunique calling going forth among the Jews around the world, and an incredible\r\nresponse taking place even as this letter goes forth, it is happening only because\r\nthey are being rejoined to Jesus Christ as a direct product of His everlasting\r\nCovenant.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\ngifts \u2013 which represent His dowry to the Bride \u2013 and His calling of that Bride\r\nare without repentance.\u00a0 <\/span>Even though we\r\nhave seen what appears to be the processing of two, there really is only one\r\nBride.\u00a0 <\/span>The two parts of the Bride have\r\nbecome one.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Jesus\r\nChrist is<\/i> receiving His inheritance!<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Let me wrap up this discussion\r\nwith a portion of a poem that I wrote for my wife on Christmas of 1995.\u00a0 <\/span>It puts things in perspective.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

BRIDEGROOM\r\nand BRIDE<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

That\r\nwonderful day, those years ago,<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>The Lord brought a bride -- a counterpart;<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Eons\r\nhad passed, it seemed, while incomplete:<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

This\r\nwas a day designed to fill the heart.<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Destined\r\nfrom the beginning, an Eve to be:<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\npicture of perfection, grace like a dove,<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

She\r\ncame from the cry of a being in need:<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nLord Jesus Christ, who sought for His love.<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Flowing\r\nin beauty, filled with desire,<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Her\r\nwhole being spoke, \"I love you!\u00a0 <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

I'm\r\nyours!\"<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Adam's\r\nvery essence leaped as he saw<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

God's\r\ngift to him, his delight, his concours.<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Then\r\nas the years turned into millennia<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

A new\r\ncry was heard, a cry in the earth:<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

A cry\r\nfor completeness with <\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

She\r\nwho'd be His,<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

A\r\nyearning which most surely would be brought to the birth.<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

This\r\nsecond Adam then went to the cross<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

To\r\nbuy back a people in captivity,<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/span>Created for Him;<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Pierced\r\nwith a sword thrust into His side,<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

He\r\nforesaw the future -- love filled to the brim.<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nprocess began, a people in fire:<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

A\r\nBride in the making, a Bride to abide;<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Years\r\nagain became millennia,<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/span>But to Jesus \u2018twas irrelevant:<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

He\r\nsaw to the day they\u2019d sit at His side.<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

A\r\npeople came forth -- a people who loved -<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

A\r\npeople who overcame all to say,<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\"I\r\nlove you, My Lord!\u00a0 <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Your\r\nonoma I take;<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

All\r\nthat I am, or ever will be, is yours for eternity, going forth from this\r\nday.\"<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\ncreator of all, the Lord Jesus Christ,<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Now\r\nmade complete -- having been joined to His Bride --<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Sees\r\ndestiny unfold, eternity resume,<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

His\r\ncry has been answered, <\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

His\r\nlove's at His side.<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nfuture unfolds, a thousand years of time,<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nthrone of the heavens, <\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

a new\r\nonoma presides;<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\npast is behind, the cry is fulfilled;<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nneed has been met,<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

In\r\nBridegroom and Bride.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Know this<\/span><\/b>: <\/span>\u201cthat He who began a good work in you will\r\nperfect and complete it up to and until the day of Jesus Christ!\u201d<\/span>(Philippians 1:6,\r\nmy translation)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

It\r\nis happening!\u00a0 <\/span>He is doing it!\u00a0 <\/span>The work of perfecting and completing\r\ncontinues so long as we continue wholeheartedly responding to everything He\r\nsays, does and requires in us!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Let\r\nus go on to the finishing!<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

We got started last week on this look at the number, 12, and the significance it plays in the picture of the New Jerusalem. The New Jerusalem, of course, is the portrayal of the Bride of Christ John saw and wrote about in Revelation 21.
