\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Have you ever noticed how\r\nmany times we see the number Seven in the Word?\u00a0\r\n<\/span>Seven is a number in Scripture which metaphorically represents\r\ncompleteness \u2014 a finishing of something.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

You have seven nations that\r\ncame forth from Ham, the son of Noah, all of whom represented a curse upon the\r\nland.\u00a0 <\/span>These were the nations that\r\noccupied Canaan, the land of promise to God\u2019s people.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Seven is the number that\r\nrepresented the Golden Candlestick in Moses\u2019 Tabernacle.\u00a0 <\/span>There were seven lanterns on the Golden\r\nCandlestick, all filled with an oil that burned night and day representing the\r\npassion and worship of God\u2019s people for the Bridegroom and the Marriage\r\nCovenant represented by the Ark of the Covenant.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

As you will see in today\u2019s\r\ndiscussion, the number seven is absolutely prolific in God\u2019s economy and\r\ncritical to understanding the character and nature of Holy Spirit.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Let\u2019s begin with the picture\r\nthan unfolds from the book of Revelation.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Revelation 1:4<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/b>\"John to the\r\nseven Ekklesias which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace from Him which\r\nis, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are (<\/span>enopion<\/span><\/i><\/b>) <\/span>in\r\nthe place of and occupy (before, KJV) His throne.\"<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\r\n\u00a0 <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Revelation 2:1:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/u><\/b>Unto the angel of the\r\nchurch of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in\r\nhis right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks;<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Revelation 3:1<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/b>And unto the angel of\r\nthe church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits\r\nof God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou\r\nlivest, and art dead.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Revelation 4:5<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/b>And out of the throne\r\nproceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were<\/i> seven\r\nlamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Revelation 5:6<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/b>And I beheld, and,\r\nlo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the\r\nelders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes,\r\nwhich are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

John\r\nsums up the essence of these Seven Spirits when he writes in his first general\r\nepistle the following:<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

I John 4:8<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/b>He that loveth not\r\nknoweth not God; for God is love<\/u>.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

I John 4:16<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/b>And we have known and\r\nbelieved the love that God hath to us. God is love<\/u>; and he that dwelleth\r\nin love dwelleth in God, and God in him.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\ntotality, therefore, of these Seven Spirits of God is summed up in agape<\/span><\/i><\/b>.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>It takes a revelation of the Lord for us to see agape in these Seven\r\nSpirits.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nSpirit of Judgment & Burning <\/span><\/b>(Isaiah 4:4)<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nSpirit of Wisdom &Understanding <\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span>(Isaiah 11:1-5)<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nSpirit of Counsel and Might\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/b>(Isaiah 11:1-5)<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nSpirit of Knowledge and the Fear of the Lord\u00a0\r\n<\/span><\/span><\/b>(Isaiah\r\n11:1-5)<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nSpirit of Grace &Supplications\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/b>(Zechariah 12:10)<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nSpirit of Truth <\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span>(John 15:26)<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nSpirit of Glory\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/b>(I Peter 4:14)<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0Perhaps\r\nthe most difficult revelation of these Seven Spirits is seeing the Spirit of\r\nJudgment and Burning as a function of agape<\/span><\/i><\/b>.\u00a0 <\/span>Let\u2019s begin our look at this spirit where\r\nIsaiah first references it:<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Isaiah 4:2-6<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/b>In that day shall the\r\nbranch of the LORD be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the earth shall\r\nbe<\/i> excellent and comely for them that are escaped of Israel. <\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

<\/o:p><\/span><\/sup><\/p>\r\n\r\n

And it shall come to pass, that he that is<\/i> left in Zion,\r\nand he that<\/i>remaineth in Jerusalem, shall be called holy, even<\/i>\r\nevery one that is written among the living in Jerusalem: <\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

When the Lord shall have washed away the filth of the daughters\r\nof Zion<\/span><\/u>, and shall have purged the blood of Jerusalem from the midst\r\nthereof<\/u> by the spirit of judgment, and by the spirit of burning. <\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

And the LORD will create upon every dwelling place of mount\r\nZion, and upon her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day, and the shining of a\r\nflaming fire by night: for upon all the glory shall be<\/i> a defence. And\r\nthere shall be a tabernacle for a shadow in the daytime from the heat, and for\r\na place of refuge, and for a covert from storm and from rain.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nrevelation of the Love of God comes when one begins to see just how this Spirit\r\nworks, and what its objective is.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

What\r\ndoes Isaiah indicate that this Spirit accomplishes?<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\n\u00a0 <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Its\r\nfirst and primary purpose is to wash away the filth in God\u2019s people<\/span><\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\r\n\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

This\r\nword \u201cfilth\u201d however, in the Hebrew text, is the word tsoah<\/span><\/i>; <\/span><\/b>and\r\nit literally translates out as \u201cexcrement.\u201d\u00a0\r\n<\/span>In a more general sense it represents contamination or pollution.\u00a0 <\/span>We\u2019ll come back to this momentarily.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Its\r\nsecondary objective is to purge God\u2019s people of blood-guiltiness<\/span><\/b>.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\n\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

In\r\nthe Hebrew text, the word translated \u201cblood\u201d of Jerusalem comes from the word dawm<\/span><\/i><\/b>, and literally means: innocent blood,\r\nthe guilt contracted by killing.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>Gesenius tells in this instance that the phraseology Isaiah uses\r\nliterally translates to \u201ca city guilty of slaughter.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

But\r\nthe picture goes far beyond our normal concept of slaughter or innocent\r\nblood.\u00a0 <\/span>Isaiah is speaking of Jerusalem,\r\nand in particular one of David\u2019s prophecies (see I Chronicles 16:22 and Psalm\r\n105:15) where David says, <\/span>\u201cTouch not mine anointed, and do\r\nmy prophets no harm.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Both\r\nMatthew and Luke record Jesus\u2019 lament when He cries out,<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Matthew 23:37-39<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/b>O Jerusalem,\r\nJerusalem, thou<\/i> that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are\r\nsent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as\r\na hen gathereth her chickens under her<\/i> wings, and ye would not! <\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Behold, your house is left unto you desolate. For I say unto\r\nyou, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessedis<\/i> he\r\nthat cometh in the name of the Lord<\/span>.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>(See also Luke 13:34)<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

So\r\nwhat do we have as a picture in Isaiah\u2019s prophecy?<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

What\r\nis the picture Isaiah is drawing when he prophesies of the Spirit of Judgment\r\nand Burning?<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Jerusalem\r\n(as well as Judah and Israel) had systematically killed and put to death \u2013\r\noften by unbelievably horrible methods \u2013 the prophets God sent to rebuke them\r\nfor their sin of idolatry and adultery towards Him.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

In\r\nfact, history tells us that Isaiah himself became one of those prophets whose\r\nlife was taken from him because of his prophecies.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

\r\nWhen Hezekiah died, his son Manasseh took the\r\nthrone.\u00a0 <\/span>Manasseh\u2019s wickedness was so\r\nunbelievable that Isaiah was sent by the Lord to warn him of judgment.\u00a0 <\/span>He was seized at Manasseh\u2019s order, stuffed\r\ninto a hollowed-out log and sawed in half.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Thus\r\nthe picture of this one of the Seven Spirits of God \u2013 the Spirit of Judgment\r\nand Burning \u2013 is that of a cleansing of all the contamination that comes by\r\nspiritual adultery, fornication and the worship of false gods (i.e., idolatry).<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Remember\r\nhow, under the Law of Moses, the Levites were commanded to offer up certain\r\nsacrifices on an altar and burn them with fire?\u00a0\r\n<\/span>Every sacrifice for sin required a burnt offering.\u00a0 <\/span>Consider how God commanded the Levites:<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Leviticus 6:9-13<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span><\/b>Command\r\nAaron and his sons, saying, Thisis<\/i> the law of the burnt offering: It is<\/i>\r\nthe burnt offering, because of the burning upon the altar all night unto the\r\nmorning, and the fire of the altar shall be burning in it. And the priest shall\r\nput on his linen garment, and his linen breeches shall he put upon his flesh,\r\nand take up the ashes which the fire hath consumed with the burnt offering on\r\nthe altar, and he shall put them beside the altar. And he shall put off his garments,\r\nand put on other garments, and carry forth the ashes without the camp unto a\r\nclean place. And the fire upon the altar shall be burning in it; it shall\r\nnot be put out<\/u>: and the priest shall burn wood on it every morning, and lay\r\nthe burnt offering in order upon it; and he shall burn thereon the fat of the\r\npeace offerings. The fire shall ever be burning upon the altar; it shall\r\nnever go out<\/u>.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

NEVER\r\nGO OUT???\u00a0 <\/span>Ever notice that before?\u00a0 <\/span>Why?<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

It\r\nwas representative of the continual presence of the Spirit of Judgment and\r\nBurning in Israel\u2019s midst.\u00a0 <\/span>It meant that\r\nthere was continually the cleansing presence of the Lord.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

But\r\nwe\u2019ve mostly talked about the \u201cburning\u201d part of this Spirit and His objective\r\nto keep Israel cleansed and holy before God.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>Let\u2019s go back to the way Isaiah began this Word to God\u2019s people:<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Isaiah 4:2-3<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/b>In that day shall the\r\nbranch of the LORD be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the earth shall\r\nbe<\/i> excellent and comely for them that are escaped of Israel<\/u>. And it\r\nshall come to pass, that he that is<\/u><\/i> left in Zion, and he\r\nthat<\/i>remaineth in Jerusalem, shall be called holy<\/u>, even<\/i> every one\r\nthat is written among the living in Jerusalem:<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u201cThem that are escaped of Israel?\u201d\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>Escaped from what?<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nSpirit of Judgment was being executed upon all unrighteousness.\u00a0 <\/span>\u201cThose that are escaped of Israel\u201d were those\r\nwhom the Lord saw as walking in righteousness.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>He did not find it necessary to bring \u201cthe burning\u201d upon them.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

They\r\nwere those whom the Spirit of Judgment and Burning called \u201choly.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>They had kept themselves from spiritual\r\nadultery, from spiritual fornication, from idolatry, from the worship of false\r\ngods.\u00a0 <\/span>They had not permitted themselves\r\nto be contaminated by the practices of those descendants of the seven condemned\r\nnations who were permitted to remain alive and dwell in Israel.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

And\r\nwhat was \u2013 and is \u2013 the purpose and objective of the Spirit of Judgment and\r\nBurning?<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

In that day shall the\r\nbranch of the LORD be beautiful and glorious!<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

And the fruit of the earth shall be<\/i> excellent and comely\r\nfor them [that have escaped the edict of unrighteousness issued by the Spirit\r\nof Judgment and Burning].<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nLord is determined to have for Himself a holy and righteous people \u2013 a people\r\nwho reflect His Glory, a people who think like Him, speak like Him, create like\r\nHim and love like He does.\u00a0 <\/span>Thus we have\r\nSolomon\u2019s instruction:<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Proverbs 3:11-12<\/span><\/u><\/b>:<\/span><\/b>11<\/span><\/sup>My\r\nson, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his\r\ncorrection: <\/span>12<\/span><\/sup>For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son\r\nin whom<\/i> he delighteth. <\/span>\r\nThroughout Israel\u2019s\r\nhistory we have a continual picture of the Spirit of Judgment and Burning at\r\nwork.\u00a0 <\/span>I cannot tell you how many\r\npreachers and teachers have argued with me that the Spirit of Judgment and\r\nBurning is not and cannot be one of the Seven Spirits of God.\u00a0 <\/span>For that reason, I commend the following\r\nScriptures to you for study and consideration.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>This is a bunch, so bear with me.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Job 26:13-14<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0\r\n<\/span><\/span><\/b>By his spirit he hath garnished the heavens; his hand hath\r\nformed the crooked serpent. Lo, these are<\/i> parts of his ways: but how\r\nlittle a portion is heard of him? but the thunder of his power who can\r\nunderstand?<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Proverbs 1:20-24<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/b>Wisdom crieth\r\nwithout; she uttereth her voice in the streets: She crieth in the chief place\r\nof concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words,\r\nsaying<\/i>, How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the\r\nscorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\r\n\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/sup><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto\r\nyou, I will make known my words unto you. Because I have called, and ye\r\nrefused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded; But ye have set at\r\nnought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof: I also will laugh at your\r\ncalamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nfollowing Scriptures talk about the purpose of the Spirit of Judgment and\r\nBurning, and focus on the need for correction.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Proverbs 15:9-10<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/b>The way of the wicked\r\nis<\/i> an abomination unto the LORD: but he loveth him that followeth after\r\nrighteousness.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Correction is<\/i> grievous unto him that forsaketh the way: and<\/i>\r\nhe that hateth reproof shall die.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Proverbs 15:31-33:\u00a0\r\n<\/span><\/span><\/u><\/b>The ear that heareth the reproof of life abideth among the wise.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul: but he that\r\nheareth reproof getteth understanding.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The fear of the LORD is<\/i> the instruction of wisdom; and\r\nbefore honouris<\/i> humility.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Proverbs 22:15<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0\r\n<\/span><\/span><\/b>Foolishness is<\/i> bound in the heart of a child; but<\/i>\r\nthe rod of correction shall drive it far from him.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Jeremiah 5:3-6:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/u><\/b>O\r\nLORD, are<\/i> not thine eyes upon the truth? thou hast stricken them, but\r\nthey have not grieved; thou hast consumed them, but<\/i> they have refused to\r\nreceive correction: they have made their faces harder than a rock; they have\r\nrefused to return.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Therefore I said, Surely these are<\/i> poor; they are\r\nfoolish: for they know not the way of the LORD, nor<\/i> the judgment of\r\ntheir God. I will get me unto the great men, and will speak unto them; for they\r\nhave known the way of the LORD, and<\/i> the judgment of their God: but these\r\nhave altogether broken the yoke, and<\/i> burst the bonds.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Wherefore a lion out of the forest shall slay them, and<\/i> a\r\nwolf of the evenings shall spoil them, a leopard shall watch over their cities:\r\nevery one that goeth out thence shall be torn in pieces: because their\r\ntransgressions are many, and<\/i> their backslidings are increased.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\r\n\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Jeremiah 7:27-28<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/b>Therefore thou shalt\r\nspeak all these words unto them; but they will not hearken to thee: thou shalt\r\nalso call unto them; but they will not answer thee.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

But thou shalt say unto them, Thisis<\/i> a nation that\r\nobeyeth not the voice of the LORD their God, nor receiveth correction: truth is\r\nperished, and is cut off from their mouth.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Habakkuk 1:12<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0\r\n<\/span><\/span><\/b>Art<\/span><\/i> thou not from everlasting, O LORD my God, mine Holy One? we\r\nshall not die. O LORD, thou hast ordained them for judgment; and, O mighty God,\r\nthou hast established them for correction.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

S<\/span><\/b>ing, O daughter of Zion; shout, O Israel; be glad and rejoice\r\nwith all the heart, O daughter of Jerusalem. The LORD hath taken away thy\r\njudgments, he hath cast out thine enemy: the king of Israel, even<\/i> the\r\nLORD, is<\/i> in the midst of thee: thou shalt not see evil any more.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\r\n\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem, Fear thou not: and\r\nto<\/i> Zion, Let not thine hands be slack. The LORD thy God in the midst of\r\nthee is<\/i> mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he\r\nwill rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

John 16:7-11<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0\r\n<\/span><\/span><\/b>Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that\r\nI go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I\r\ndepart, I will send him unto you. <\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of\r\nrighteousness, and of judgment: Of sin, because they believe not on me; Of\r\nrighteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; Of judgment,\r\nbecause the prince of this world is judged.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

II Timothy 3:14-16<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/b>These things write I\r\nunto thee, hoping to come unto thee shortly: But if I tarry long, that thou\r\nmayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is\r\nthe church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth. <\/span><\/p>\r\n

<\/o:p><\/span><\/sup><\/p>\r\n\r\n

And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God\r\nwas manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached\r\nunto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

That\u2019s\r\nan awful lot of Scripture to absorb, but I wanted to draw you a picture of just\r\nwhat this Spirit of Judgment and Burning is, and how important a role it plays\r\nin God\u2019s economy.\u00a0 <\/span>We CANNOT ever expect\r\nto grow into or become the counterparts and other selves of the Lord Jesus\r\nChrist if we do not allow this spirit to work its work thoroughly in our lives.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\njudgment is not designed to destroy us, nor is the burning designed to snuff\r\nour spiritual lives out.\u00a0 <\/span>We are being\r\njudged righteously.\u00a0 <\/span>The fire of the\r\nburning is designed to accomplish precisely what Paul describes in his letter\r\nto Timothy when he writes:<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

II Timothy 2:15-17\r\n(RAC Translation)<\/span><\/u>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>Be instantly responsive to\r\nthe Lord, making yourself available to Him in the midst of the crucible, a\r\ntried and tested laborer who has no fear of being examined \u2013 one who, by virtue\r\nof God\u2019s testing and the time spent in the crucible with Him, knows the proven\r\nWord of Truth.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Stand aloof from, and\r\navoid the untested, untried \u201cword\u201d which comes forth from those who would\r\npropagate speculation and create their own doctrines.\u00a0 <\/span>These profane speculations and so-called\r\n\u201cwords\u201d are empty babblings which will only serve to advance ungodliness;<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

And those who spread these doctrines will\r\nonly yield a gangrene pasture \u2013 a source of poison to those who ingest their\r\n\u201cword\u201d\u2026..\u00a0 <\/span>and we point out Hymenaeus and\r\nPhiletus as examples.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

You\r\nsee it, right?\u00a0 <\/span>The Spirit of Judgment\r\nand Burning is likened here to the crucible \u2014 a vessel designed to contain gold\r\nor silver or any precious metal while it is being heated to the boiling point.\u00a0 <\/span>The dross or impurities rise to the surface\r\nwhere they get scooped off.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>The\r\ncrucible is heated again and again and again until there are no more impurities\r\nvisible that float to the surface.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

At\r\nthat point, The gold is declared to be 99.999% pure.\u00a0 <\/span>We are that precious metal!\u00a0 <\/span>We are being heated and heated and heated\r\nagain and again by the Spirit of Burning until such time as we are declared by\r\nthe Holy Spirit to be absolutely pure before the Lord.\u00a0 <\/span>It is not hatred or vengeance on the part of\r\nthis Spirit that does this.\u00a0 <\/span>It is God\u2019s\r\npurpose and objective to bring us to that place where we are absolutely One\r\nwith Him.\u00a0 <\/span>This is that stage where we\r\ncan be declared and judged to be righteous and holy.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

I\u2019ve\r\nsaid it before \u2014 almost in passing \u2014 but the driving purpose behind the Spirit\r\nof Judgment and Burning is Love.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>It is\r\nthe love of God that moves us and drives us to this place. Each of the Seven\r\nSpirits of God have this motivation.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>Each of them is integral to the character, the likeness, the makeup and\r\npersonality of Holy Spirit who embodies the Love of the Father and the Love of\r\nthe Lord Jesus Christ. Let me wrap up today\u2019s discussion with a Word that Peter\r\ngave to the body of Christ in one of his epistles;<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

I\r\nPeter 4:12-14:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>Beloved,\r\nthink it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though\r\nsome strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers\r\nof Christ\u2019s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad\r\nalso with exceeding joy. If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are\r\nye<\/i>; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he\r\nis evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified. <\/span><\/p>\r\n
