Today\u2019s\r\nedition of Another Coffee Break kicks off our 7th<\/sup> year of\r\npublication! We actually published a couple of Coffee Breaks in December of\r\n2004 as a trial balloon to see how they would be received, but our actual first\r\nyear of publication began in January of 2005.I haven\u2019t actually counted the\r\ntotal number published thus far, but I believe we have sent out somewhere\r\nbetween 600 and 700 posts. Of nearly 600,000 readers worldwide, we still have\r\nsomewhere between 30 \u2013 40,000 readers who have stayed with me since early\r\n2005.My thanks to all of you for your support and continued readership. My\r\nsincere hope is that these articles will not only be a blessing to you but that\r\nyou will be drawn closer to the Lord as a result.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n


\r\n<\/span>After\r\nreceiving an encouraging email from Shalini<\/span> Patras<\/span> a couple of weeks ago it dawned on me that one of\r\nthe most important discussions with David I neglected to include in the last\r\nCoffee Break was on the 23rd<\/sup> Psalm. Let me quote from Shalini\u2019s<\/span> email:<\/span>
\r\n
\r\n<\/span>\u201cI remember a few days\r\nback when I was praying, among some other things the Lord said, \u201cThe Lord is\r\nyour Shepherd and you shall not want. These are words from heaven that David\r\nheard and personalized for himself and so he wrote.\u201dWhen I read in your mailer\r\nabout David talking about his songs originating in heaven long before he came\r\non the scene, I almost screamed and jumped. I remembered about what the Lord\r\nhad said and understood it better.\u201d<\/span>
\r\n
\r\n<\/span>That\r\nsaid, let me take you back to the event I shared in the last Coffee Break where\r\nwe were sitting on a hillside. You\u2019ll recall that I heard him sing the 8th<\/sup>\r\nPsalm, declaring the glory and riches of the Lord with accompanying visions of\r\ncreation unfolding.<\/span>
\r\n
\r\n<\/span>The\r\n23rd<\/sup> Psalm is probably the most quoted chapter worldwide in the\r\nBible. It is also one of the most misunderstood and misquoted. I can\u2019t tell you\r\nhow many funerals I\u2019ve been to where the preacher read from the 23rd<\/sup>\r\nPsalm emphasizing the phrase, \u201cYea, though I walk through the valley of the\r\nshadow of death,\u201d as though that phrase somehow had relevance to the funeral or\r\nthe \u201cpreaching\u201d that accompanied it.<\/span>
\r\n
\r\n<\/span>Even\r\ntoday when I hear preachers and evangelists use this passage of scripture, I\r\nwince at some of their illustrations because they are so far afield of what\r\nDavid experienced and saw. As our conversation unfolded on that hillside David\r\nrelated how the Lord had made it applicable to him and his life.<\/span>
\r\n
\r\n<\/span>\u201cWhen\r\nI first heard the words of this Psalm,\u201d he said, \u201cThere was a vision that began\r\nto unfold before me.In<\/span> 15 separate phrases I saw my\r\nlife unfold. What you refer to as the 23rd<\/sup> Psalm is only the 23rd<\/sup>\r\nbecause that\u2019s how it was compiled when King Hezekiah began to assemble for the\r\nLevites the songs, the hymns and the prayers that God had given to me as well\r\nas to Moses. It has mostly remained in that order ever since. The 150 Psalms\r\nyou have assembled together in your copies of the Scripture represent a\r\ncross-section of all that the Lord gave to me, to Moses, to Asaph<\/span>,\r\nHeman<\/span> & Jeduthun<\/span> \u2013 but\r\nthere were many more written that you don\u2019t have.\u201d<\/span>
\r\n
\r\n<\/span>David\r\npaused and then swept his arm across the horizon as he continued, \u201cWhen the\r\nfirst words of that Psalm first entered my spirit, it was a \u201cYES\u201d in my being. My\r\nwhole mind and spirit agreed. I was a shepherd. I led my flocks and provided\r\nfor them everything they could ever need. The Lord was indeed MY Shepherd, and\r\nin Him \u2013 with Him \u2013 I had no need of anything. What I didn\u2019t realize at the\r\ntime was that those words were going to apply at different stages of my life. As\r\nvarious crises unfolded and challenges faced me, I was going to be confronted\r\nwith my commitment to allow the Lord to continue to be my Shepherd and not take\r\nthings into my own hands.\u201d<\/span>
\r\n
\r\n<\/span>He\r\nsmiled a bit wryly. It was as though he was looking back in time for a minute,\r\nand he said, \u201cI did, you know. I did take things into my own hands more than\r\nonce, and it cost me! I only have to remind you of Uriah the Hittite and the\r\ntime when I numbered the armies of Israel as a couple of ready examples.\u201d<\/span>
\r\n
\r\n<\/span>The\r\nscene changed before us and for the first time I saw David dressed in kingly robes.\r\nThey were simple yet elegant. He continued his tale.<\/span>
\r\n
\r\n<\/span>\u201cThat\r\nshepherd\u2019s Psalm became the hallmark of my years on the throne of Judah and\r\nthen Israel. It had become very personal to me during the years I was on the\r\nrun for my life from Saul, but it took on new meaning. I saw the provision of\r\nthe Lord continually. When I fought battles against the Philistines, when I hid\r\nfrom Saul in the hills and in the caves, the Lord set a table before me\r\ncontinually. That table was spread with provisions for me and the families who\r\nstood with me. It was spread with supernatural defenses against the enemies who\r\ncontinually surrounded us and threatened us.<\/span>
\r\n
\r\n<\/span>\u201cAs\r\nI\u2019ve already said, the words of the 23rd<\/sup> Psalm were given to me\r\nprophetically along with visions as I sat on the hillsides tending my father\u2019s\r\nsheep. I don\u2019t think I could have ever imagined the vision of the table and the\r\ncup running over as being so prophetic of Jesus and the covenant He restored to\r\nall of us with His ministry, His being the Word of Life, His suffering and\r\ndeath, and His resurrection. When I first began to sing those words, I couldn\u2019t\r\nhave imagined the depth of the prophecy that was hidden in them.\u201d<\/span>
\r\n
\r\n<\/span>Once\r\nagain the scene changed before us and we were obviously in a totally different\r\npart of Heaven. For the first time I began to realize what David saw as King of\r\nIsrael when the Holy Spirit began to give to him a vision for the Temple. This\r\npart of Heaven was laid out just like the design of the Temple that David gave\r\nto Solomon \u2013 except on a huge scale. There were the area divisions into what\r\nbecame (in David\u2019s Temple) the Outer Court, the Holy Place, and the Holy of\r\nHolies. There were the Treasuries \u2013 great rooms with wealth beyond the scope of\r\nhuman understanding or comprehension. I didn\u2019t realize it at the time and\r\ndidn\u2019t learn about it until years later, but one of those Treasury rooms\r\ncontains body parts for folks in need of healing or restoration.<\/span>
\r\n
\r\n<\/span>Stop\r\nand think about that for just a minute! Do you realize that when we pray and\r\npetition the Lord for the healing of an individual who has lost an arm or leg\r\nor who has organs in their body that are failing or have failed, there are\r\nreplacements that await them in Heaven in a specific Treasury room. If people\r\ncould only see and realize what stupendous provision God has made for those who\r\nbelieve and act in faith, it would change things in the body of Christ\r\ndramatically!<\/span>
\r\n
\r\n<\/span>During\r\nmost of our childhood years my Dad drilled my brother and I in Scripture\r\nmemorization. We were required to memorize at least one verse of Scripture\r\nevery single day. One of the first things we memorized (and had to be able to\r\nquote verbatim from beginning to end) was the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5, 6\r\n& 7).<\/span>
\r\n
\r\n<\/span>One\r\nof the things Jesus says in Matthew 6:19-21 is this:<\/span> <\/span>\u201cLay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth,\r\nwhere moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:\r\nBut lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth\r\ncorrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your\r\ntreasure is, there will your heart be also.\u201d<\/span><\/i>
\r\n
\r\n<\/span>Every\r\ntime we tithe, every time we sow seed, every time we give to missions, every\r\ntime we give or minister to the poor and needy, every time we give to\r\nministries that are producing fruit for the Kingdom of God, we are laying up\r\ntreasure in the storehouses, the Treasuries of Heaven. More than that, every\r\ntime we lay hands on the sick, every time we intercede for people in crisis\r\nsituations, every time we pray, declare and decree the Will of God over our\r\nfriends, our family members and over those the Holy Spirit directs us to, we\r\nare laying up treasure in those Treasury rooms.<\/span>
\r\n
\r\n<\/span>What\r\nis so phenomenal about that is that there is a huge multiplication factor that\r\ntakes place with every tithe and every gift, every prayer and every act given\r\nor done in faith. Our problem here on Earth is that we neither understand God\u2019s\r\nmultiplication nor even visualize what He does with it. Furthermore, we don\u2019t\r\neven begin to comprehend how to draw on those Treasuries for the multiplication\r\nand growth of the Kingdom of God here on Earth (in the natural realm) or the\r\ngrowth of the Kingdom in us as earthen vessels.<\/span>
\r\n
\r\n<\/span>Sorry\r\nto take a bit of a side-trip there but Matthew\u2019s record of what Jesus said\r\nreally leaped to life as I took in the sight of the Treasuries and saw what\r\nDavid saw as the Holy Spirit poured into him the vision of the Temple.<\/span>
\r\n
\r\n<\/span>The\r\nplace that would have been represented in the Temple by the Holy of Holies was\r\na Cloud of Glory that literally filled the place. It radiated that same sense\r\nof the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ that I felt the first time I saw Him,\r\nand again the second time when He came for me to take me to Heaven. I\r\nunderstood why it was necessary for both Moses (he had seen this same thing) and\r\nDavid to be instructed by the Lord to create a thick veil to separate the Holy\r\nof Holies from the Holy Place. For someone without a real love-relationship\r\nwith the Lord Jesus Christ \u2013 one who is constantly in pursuit of His presence\r\nAND His Glory being seen in us as His people \u2013 the Glory of the Lord is too\r\nmuch for a person to handle.<\/span>
\r\n
\r\n<\/span>The\r\ntruth of this is revealed in Isaiah 42:9 where Isaiah prophesies the following:<\/span> <\/span>\u201cI am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will\r\nI not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.\u201d<\/span><\/i>
\r\n
\r\n<\/span>The\r\nphrase, \u201cmy glory will I not give to another,\u201d is somewhat obscured in our KJV\r\nand other English translations. The word translated \u201canother\u201d from the Hebrew\r\ntext is the word \u201c<\/span>acher<\/span><\/i><\/span>\u201d (which comes from the root \u201c<\/span>achar<\/span><\/i><\/span>\u201d)\r\nspecifically translates to \u201chinder\u201d in the sense of someone who lags behind,\r\nprocrastinates, puts off, etc. The context of the translation \u201canother\u201d is that\r\nof someone strange (or perhaps estranged).The sense of this word is that of\r\nsomeone who does not walk with<\/i><\/b> the Lord in intimacy \u2013 someone who\r\nis not in active pursuit of Him and His presence.<\/span>
\r\n
\r\n<\/span>You\r\nget the picture, I\u2019m sure. The Lord does not give His Glory to those who are\r\npassive or lackadaisical in their walk with Him. He does not give His Glory to\r\nspiritual stragglers. His Glory is for those who are in active pursuit of Him\r\nwith their whole being, a people who thirst after Him and walk with Him no\r\nmatter the odds or circumstances. They don\u2019t care what it costs them in terms\r\nof reputation or creature comforts. His Glory is designed and destined for a\r\npeople who respond in every way to become Counterpart and Other Self to the\r\nLord Jesus Christ \u2013 His Bride!<\/span>
\r\n
\r\n<\/span>The\r\nveil that Moses created for the Tabernacle and David commissioned for the\r\nTemple were a safety measure to prevent the destruction of those who might come\r\ninto His presence unprepared or without honor and reverence.[This is a topic\r\nI\u2019ll talk about in a little more depth when I share my conversation with\r\nMoses.]To do so would have meant death. The intimate presence of the Lord is\r\nreserved for a people who live exhibiting His<\/span> <\/span>agape<\/span><\/i> <\/span>love.<\/span>
\r\n
\r\n<\/span>Even\r\nthough it took a number of years for me to be able to assimilate and digest the\r\nenormity and the extravagance of this place, the utter grandeur took my breath\r\naway. David was watching my reaction as I took it all in. He quite properly\r\nread my face and thoughts; and he took my hand momentarily to get my attention.<\/span>
\r\n
\r\n<\/span>\u201cNow\r\nyou can understand why every waking moment of my life from the point of seeing\r\nthis was spent in the acquisition of as much wealth and riches as I could\r\nconceivably amass. For me to duplicate this or provide some semblance of the\r\nGlory and magnificence of the Lord in a central house of worship for the nation\r\nthat common folks could relate to meant acquiring more gold, silver and other\r\nprecious materials than any single human had ever done before in all of\r\nhistory.<\/span>
\r\n
\r\n<\/span>\u201cAll\r\nthat wealth wasn\u2019t for me! Sure, the Lord made it possible for me to become\r\nrich beyond imagination, but it wasn\u2019t to spend on a lavish lifestyle for myself!\r\nSome people express great surprise at the equivalency in your modern money\r\nbeing in the multiplied billions of dollars, but I didn\u2019t care what the\r\nmonetary value of the gold and silver was. I needed to duplicate as closely as\r\npossible what I saw in Heaven. The Spirit of God revealed the dimensions to me\r\nin much the same way as He revealed the dimensions of the Ark to Noah. I knew\r\nhow long, how wide, and how tall it needed to be. I knew the respective sizes\r\nof all of the furnishings that would go into it.<\/span>
\r\n
\r\n<\/span>\u201cAll\r\nthese things, these dimensions, these quantities I wrote down after Nathan the\r\nProphet told me that because I was a man of violence and bloodshed the building\r\nof the Temple would be reserved to my son who would replace me as King of\r\nIsrael.\u201d<\/span>
\r\n
\r\n<\/span>I\r\ninterrupted David at this point and asked him, \u201cHow did you feel when Nathan\r\ntold you that you were not to build it? I mean, you had seen it with your own\r\neyes! The vision of it was implanted in you as though it had been engraved!\u201d<\/span>
\r\n
\r\n<\/span>\u201cA\r\nflash of disappointment, I guess, but the disappointment quickly faded with\r\nGod\u2019s promise that He was going to establish my house, and that my seed would\r\nforever sit on His Throne. The magnitude of that promise was almost more than I\r\ncould take in, and it took some years for it all the register. You understand,\r\nthough, why every breath of my existence from that moment forward was to\r\naccumulate everything that was needed so that when the day came, Solomon would\r\nlack for nothing and construction could begin immediately.\u201d<\/span>
\r\n
\r\n<\/span>I\r\nwalked around for awhile just taking in the splendor of gold so pure it was\r\ntransparent. The light and brilliance of the presence of the Lord throughout\r\nHeaven made this place so stunning as to be impossible to adequately describe. On\r\nEarth we have an expression we often use to describe people who live in\r\noverwhelming abundance. We frequently call them \u201cfilthy rich.\u201dYou\u2019d never use\r\nan expression like that here!<\/span>
\r\n
\r\n<\/span>Since\r\nmy visits to Heaven, I\u2019ve begun to realize that the reason we use the epithet\r\n\u201cfilthy\u201d is because the world has contaminated the whole idea of wealth and\r\nriches. Those who do not walk in understanding and revelation cannot even begin\r\nto fathom the purity of God\u2019s wealth and abundance. Our society has so\r\ninfiltrated the thinking of wealth and abundance that \u201crich\u201d is a bad word \u2013\r\nespecially among folks who have a socialist mindset. It has somehow become\r\nwrong and sinful to think \u201crich\u201d or \u201cwealthy.\u201dMany Christians have lost sight\r\nof the fact that God promised His people the following:<\/span>
\r\n
\r\n<\/span>\u201cBut thou shalt<\/span> remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth<\/span> thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his\r\ncovenant which he sware<\/span> unto thy fathers, as it is\r\nthis day.\u201d<\/span><\/i>(Deuteronomy 8:18)<\/span>
\r\n
\r\n<\/span>Get\r\nit? The focus on getting wealth is God-given so that He may establish His\r\ncovenant<\/i><\/b>!<\/span>
\r\n
\r\n<\/span>Jesus\r\nmade a phenomenal statement as part of His covenant with believers. It goes\r\nlike this:<\/span>
\r\n
\r\n<\/span>\u201cThe thief comes only in\r\norder that he may steal, and may kill, and may destroy. I came that they might\r\nhave and enjoy life, and that have it in abundance \u2013 to the full, till it\r\noverflows.\u201d<\/span><\/i>(John 10:10 Amp.)<\/span>
\r\n
\r\n<\/span>Here\r\nagain Jesus makes clear that it is the thief \u2013 Satan \u2013 who wants to steal, kill\r\nand destroy and rob God\u2019s people of the wealth that belongs to the Kingdom of God.Sorry<\/span> to get off track a bit but you can\u2019t help but see\r\nthe gross distortions on the topic of riches and wealth and abundance once\r\nyou\u2019ve been in Heaven. It\u2019s no wonder Satan doesn\u2019t want God\u2019s people to be\r\nblessed and be the richest folks on earth! He wants the power of wealth to\r\ntantalize and entice and deceive people into thinking that God wants folks to\r\nlive \u201cbroke, busted and disgusted\u201d so they will instead look to the world and\r\nhis razzle<\/span> dazzle instead of the Lord Jesus Christ!<\/span>
\r\n
\r\n<\/span>Seeing\r\nwhat David accumulated and the enormous riches God empowered him to get in\r\norder to duplicate (on a smaller scale, of course) the Temple in Heaven really\r\nmakes me appreciate Deuteronomy 8:18.<\/span>
\r\n
\r\n<\/span>I\r\nhave one more discussion with David I\u2019d like to share with you before\r\nbacktracking to talk about Moses. That discussion centers on the Tabernacle of\r\nDavid and David\u2019s focus on continuous prayer, praise, worship and intercession\r\n\u2013 and his appointment of the families of Asaph<\/span>, Heman<\/span> and Jeduthun<\/span> to that\r\nministry.<\/span>
\r\n
\r\n<\/span>That\u2019s\r\nwhere we\u2019ll take this up again in our next Coffee Break.<\/span>
\r\n

\r\n<\/span>2021 is a year of great change,\r\ngreat stirring among the people of God! The call to purity and cleanliness\r\nbefore God has gone forth \u2013 and is going forth! This is also a year of God\u2019s\r\nrecompense on behalf of His people \u2013 a year of God\u2019s Justice!<\/span><\/i>
