ANOTHER COFFEE BREAK: HEAVEN XVII: DANIEL'S PROPHECIES<\/h2><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Frank Villa is a recent (within the\r\npast year) friend, brother in the Lord and co-laborer in the Gospel.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n


\r\n<\/span>Among\r\nmy friends I like to describe Frank as a fellow-investor in the Kingdom of God\r\nand a broker of Kingdom opportunities. That may sound like a funny way to\r\ndescribe him, but Frank has discovered that it is our investments (our time,\r\nour labors and energies, as well as financial giving) in the Kingdom of God\r\nthat pay the kind of dividends which are reaped not only here but in eternity\r\nas well. Whether they describe it like this or not, Frank and Jan (his wife)\r\nhave entered into a powerful covenant with the Lord.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n


\r\n<\/span>Let\r\nme remind you of this rather remarkable covenant that Jesus made \u2013 and this\r\ncovenant applies only to those who don\u2019t draw back or withhold any part of\r\ntheir existence from the pursuit of excellence in Jesus Christ. First let me\r\ntake you to the context of this covenant.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n


\r\n<\/span>Jesus\r\nhas just finished with His invitation to the rich young ruler to forsake all\r\nand come and follow Him. The rich young ruler can\u2019t quite bring himself to make\r\nthat kind of commitment and leaves Jesus in sadness. Jesus says to His disciples,<\/span> <\/span>\u201cChildren, how hard is it for them that trust in\r\nriches to enter into the Kingdom of God.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/p>\r\n\r\n


\r\n<\/span>He\r\nfollows that statement by saying,<\/span> <\/span>\u201cIt is easier for a camel to go through the eye of the needle<\/span><\/i> <\/span>(a very low and narrow gate in the wall\r\nof the city of Jerusalem),<\/span>\r\n<\/span>than for a rich man to\r\nenter into the Kingdom of God.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/p>\r\n\r\n


\r\n<\/span>Because\r\nPeter and several of the disciples are fairly well-to-do businessmen and\r\nfishermen, and have a rather abundant supply of resources, this shakes him and\r\nhe answers,<\/span> <\/span>\u201cWho then can be saved?\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/p>\r\n\r\n


\r\n<\/span>Jesus\r\nnow answers Peter like this:<\/span>\r\n<\/span>\u201cWith men it is\r\nimpossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.\u201d<\/span><\/i> <\/span>The point He\u2019s making is that the\r\nability to prioritize one\u2019s life for the sake of the Kingdom and lay aside\r\npossessions is a gift from the Lord.<\/span>
\r\n<\/span>Peter\r\nthinks about his situation, as well as that of James and John and some of the\r\nothers and seeks to make the point with Jesus that, while they have plenty,\r\ntheir trust is not in their wealth and personal resources. So, he responds to\r\nJesus and says, \u201cYou see, Lord, that we have left all our wealth behind and\r\nhave followed you [not making our well-being and personal comfort our\r\npriority].\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n


\r\n<\/span>Now\r\nJesus responds with a covenant statement:<\/span> <\/span>\u201cVerily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or\r\nbrethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for\r\nmy sake, and the gospel\u2019s, But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this\r\ntime, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands,\r\nwith persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.\u201d<\/span><\/i>(See\r\nMark 10:17-31)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n


\r\n<\/span>Are\r\nyou seeing and understanding the nature of this covenant? Our families, our\r\nfriends, our relatives, our wealth and possessions get bumped out of first\r\nplace in our priorities.Jesus<\/span> obviously didn\u2019t care\r\nif people had family and friends, wealth and possessions \u2013 in fact, He was\r\npromising all that to them! What He was saying was,<\/span> <\/span>\u201cYou follow after me!You<\/span>\r\nmake the Gospel of the Kingdom your priority, even if you have to walk away\r\nfrom your closest family and friends, even if you have to walk away from your wealth.If<\/span> you\u2019ll do that, I covenant with you to make\r\nfamily and friends, wealth and possessions my promise to you a hundred times\r\ngreater than anything you walk away from \u2013 not only now, but in the ages to\r\ncome, along with eternal life!But<\/span> know this!If<\/span> you have all these things and you are following\r\nafter me and making the Gospel of the Kingdom your priority in life, you will\r\nhave persecution because of it.\u201d<\/span><\/i>(My paraphrased rendering from the\r\nGreek text)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n


\r\n<\/span>Whewww<\/span><\/span>!!!\r\nHow\u2019s that for a mouthful? You get it, don\u2019t you? His promise and covenant to\r\nthose who receive this gift from God to be able to set aside their family,\r\nfriends, lands and possessions is that He will restore to them \u2013 IN THIS LIFE \u2013\r\nall that they walk away from a hundred times over!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n


\r\n<\/span>It\u2019s\r\nreally the same thing that Jesus said in Matthew 6:33:<\/span> <\/span>\u201cSeek ye first the Kingdom of God and His\r\nrighteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.\u201d<\/span><\/i>
\r\n<\/span>I\u2019ve\r\nsaid all that to say this: Frank Villa has made it his life\u2019s purpose to\r\npromote every opportunity God has directed him to for those who have eyes to\r\nsee and ears to hear to invest in avenues which provide a financial means to\r\nenlarge the Kingdom of God.He<\/span> and Jan have entered\r\ninto this covenant with the Lord. It\u2019s the same covenant that Della and I have\r\nentered into \u2013 hence our great appreciation for Frank and Jan.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n


\r\n<\/span>Can\r\nfolks get rich doing this? Sure. But the riches are not for those who just want\r\nto have lots of money for themselves. The objective is to ensure that those who\r\nare on the frontlines of the Kingdom doing battle with the Enemy and taking\r\nback Kingdom territory stolen by Satan have all the resources they need in\r\norder to accomplish the mission God has anointed them for.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n


\r\n<\/span>Remember\r\nwhat I said in one of our last Coffee Breaks? Tremendous opportunities are\r\nbeing given to many to invest in the Gospel of the Kingdom. Those who hear the\r\nWord of the Lord and obey every command to invest with their seed sowing and\r\ntheir abundant giving will see their opportunities, their finances and personal\r\nresources multiply greatly. This great transfer of wealth into the hands of\r\nGod\u2019s people, however, is not so they can build a collection of mansions, Rolls\r\nRoyces<\/span> or Bentleys (and it\u2019s not that God objects to\r\nHis people having these things!); the purpose for this great wealth transfer is\r\nto capitalize on the moment so that the Kingdom of God expands and multiplies\r\nin the earth. Our first priority as believers is to extend the boundaries of\r\nthe rulership<\/span> of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords,\r\nJesus Christ.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n


\r\n<\/span>OK.\r\nTime for us to get back to our main discussion. Got a big carafe of some\r\ndark-roasted Columbian mixed with some lighter-roasted Swedish coffee sitting\r\non the kitchen counter. Come on by and pour yourself a 16-ouncer as we continue\r\ntalking about my adventures in Heaven.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n


\r\n<\/span>It\r\nwas in the early spring of 1971 after returning from speaking at a Full Gospel\r\nBusinessmen\u2019s Convention in Phoenix that I dived into a three-week fast. Other\r\nthan some one-, two- or three-day fasts, I had never really engaged in any\r\nfasting to speak of up to this time. Somehow I\u2019d become fixated on the\r\nEsther-type of fasting: that\u2019s to say, no food of any kind and no water. I knew\r\nMoses had gone twice for 40 days without food or water so it never dawned on me\r\nthat it took a<\/span> <\/span>rhema<\/span><\/i><\/span> <\/span>and an act of God in order to pull off\r\nsomething like that.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n


\r\n<\/span>\u201cNo\r\nfood and no water\u201d was pretty normal to me and that\u2019s the way I dived into this\r\nthree-week fast.It<\/span> wasn\u2019t until I hit the 8th<\/sup>\r\nday of the fast that I realized I was in physical trouble. You\u2019ve no idea how\r\nrough it is on a person\u2019s constitution to be without water for eight days!It<\/span> was in my physical weakness that I flipped open my\r\nBible the afternoon of that 8th<\/sup> day. My Bible fell open to the 10th<\/sup>\r\nchapter of Daniel. In a split second my conversation with Daniel (20 years\r\nbefore while I was in Heaven) came flooding back and I suddenly knew it was OK\r\nto finish out the fast drinking water. Even though Daniel could eat bread on his\r\nfast (it just couldn\u2019t be whole bread or sweet bread), I felt restrained from\r\neating any bread.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n


\r\n<\/span>That\r\nfast finished and culminated with the miracle of Eskdale<\/span>\r\n(if you\u2019d like to read that story go to this link \u2013http:\/\/regnersrangers.multiply.com\/journal?&=&page_start=540<\/span><\/a>\r\n\u2013 and scroll down the page just over halfway. There are three parts to this\r\nstory.)<\/span>
\r\n<\/span>Picking\r\nup where I left off in our last Coffee Break, my questions to Daniel now\r\ncentered on his life of prayer, intercession and fasting.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n


\r\n<\/span>\"Where\r\nand when did your daily life of prayer and intercession begin,\" I asked.<\/span>
\r\n<\/span>\"My\r\nprayer life began in my youth,\" he began, \"even before we were taken\r\ninto Babylon.It<\/span> had become a regular activity for me.\r\nWhile I was still a very young person, my prayer life was resulting in a\r\ntangible sense of the presence of the Lord being with me.If<\/span>\r\ndaily activities and family affairs interfered for a day or a few days, it soon\r\nbecame clear to me that I was missing out on the immediacy that I experienced\r\nwith regular and consistent daily prayer.\"<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n


\r\n<\/span>It\r\nwas at this moment that he allowed me to see a quick vision of the carrying\r\naway into captivity and the long, tiresome and wearying procession. I saw\r\nDaniel and his companions as they trudged mile after mile after mile. He also\r\nallowed me to see the combination of disappointment and occasional flashes of\r\nfear -- a fear of the unknown that lay ahead. At the same time I saw the rising\r\nup of hope and determination in him with the knowledge of God's presence. There\r\nwere flashes of revelation in his spirit that, despite the fact that he was\r\nleaving home and all the surroundings he'd known in Judah, he was walking into\r\na destiny that God had purposed for him before he'd ever been born into the\r\nHouse of David.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n


\r\n<\/span>Daniel\r\nnow continued his discourse.\"During our long trek to Babylon, it became\r\nvery clear to me that the only way I was going to succeed or prosper in any way\r\nin our new and foreign environment was to be constantly in communication and\r\ncommunion with the Lord.I<\/span> resolved in myself to spend\r\nmy first waking moments in praise and worship, prayer and intercession and\r\nseeking the heart of the Lord for that day. When mid-day came, I wanted to\r\nrenew and refresh my spirit with His spirit and ensure that my day was\r\ncompletely on track with His plans and purposes.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n


\r\n<\/span>\"When\r\nevening came, it didn't matter that I would be asleep during the late hours. I\r\nwanted my spirit to be completely in tune with the Lord in such a way that any\r\ndreams or visions would be those in which He wanted to reveal more of Himself\r\nto me. It was mandatory for me -- a mandate in my spirit from which I could not\r\nescape -- that my last waking hour or minutes would be spent in communion with\r\nHim.\"<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n


\r\n<\/span>It\r\nwas in that moment that I saw what God was doing in me, even at my young age. The\r\nvery first thing I did each morning when I awoke was to grab my Bible and read.\r\nThe hunger in me to know the Word was nothing less than voracious. As I read\r\nand meditated, there was a place of communion with the Lord that unfolded in\r\nthe midst of that time. It wasn't a thing where I would grab the Bible, read a\r\nfew verses or a chapter, put it down and focus on the things that I wanted or\r\nneeded to do. I enjoyed the presence of the Lord and would read and read and\r\nmeditate and commune until I heard my Mother call me for breakfast.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n


\r\n<\/span>The\r\nconcept of stopping in the middle of the day to read or to pray had not entered\r\nmy mind or my spirit, but there wasn't a night in which my last activity was to\r\nget my Bible and read and read and meditate and commune with the Lord until I\r\nfell asleep.In<\/span> fact, here I was in Heaven, brought\r\nhere by the Lord while I was doing what I always did: read the Word and\r\nmeditate on Him before going to sleep.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n


\r\n<\/span>I\r\nrealized that the prayer and reading practices of early morning and late\r\nevening which had developed -- and my parents readily encouraged -- were very\r\nmuch like that which Daniel lived. Suddenly I related to him in a way that I\r\ncouldn't put into words, but there was a bond of communication in the realm of\r\nthe spirit. There was nothing in me at that moment that said my life would\r\nunfold like Daniel's life had, nor was there any idea that the Lord would\r\nunfold for me that same kind of revelation he experienced.<\/span>
\r\n<\/span>Daniels'\r\nnext words to me were almost obvious. I knew where he was coming from.<\/span>
\r\n<\/span>\"Remember\r\nNebuchadnezzar? Remember the dream he had and how when his so-called \"wise\r\nmen, soothsayers and astrologers\" couldn't begin to explain or unfold it,\r\nhe sent forth Arioch<\/span>, the Captain of the Guard, with\r\nan order to kill all his wise men and counselors?\"<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n


\r\n<\/span>I\r\ninterrupted him.\"Daniel, how was it that you and Hananiah<\/span>,\r\nMishael<\/span> and Azariah<\/span> were\r\nincorporated into his wise men? How did you get chosen for that when you were\r\nanything but an astrologer or soothsayer or someone who invented connections\r\nbetween the position of the stars or other heavenly bodies and unfolding\r\nevents?\"<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n


\r\n<\/span>Daniel\r\nbegan to laugh. \"That's a humorous way of putting things,\" he said,\r\nsmiling broadly.\"But you are right! Astrology is nothing more than an\r\neffort to predict events based on the position and alignment of stars or other\r\nheavenly bodies. Those who engage in astrology fail to realize that every\r\nconstellation was named by God when He created the heavens. The constellations\r\nare there as His signs in the heavens so as to confirm His Word -- NOT to\r\npredict events in the lives of individuals before they happen.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n


\r\n<\/span>\"Those\r\nwho seek to use the stars as a means to foretell events or draw personality\r\nprofiles become the tools and victims of a lying Spirit of Divination because\r\nthey are not walking and living in a personal relationship with the Lord. Without\r\nthat place of intimacy and covenant with Him they become subject to lying\r\nspirits which purpose to lead them astray, confuse them and sidetrack them so\r\nthat their focus is not on receiving the life God has for them.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n


\r\n<\/span>\"To\r\nanswer your question more directly, because we were all of the royal House of\r\nDavid, it was thought that, as members of royalty, we would have had better\r\ntraining, better schooling and -- as a result -- more wisdom and knowledge than\r\nthe average individual. Add to that the fact that the four of us had an outward\r\nmanifestation of the Spirit of God upon us which set us apart. Without the\r\nking's advisors realizing it, they selected us to become part of the magi\r\nbecause they sensed the Spirit of the Lord God with us; and His Spirit -- all\r\nby Himself -- conveys a wisdom and understanding that the natural world does\r\nnot have.\"<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n


\r\n<\/span>\"Does\r\nthat make sense to you, my young friend, Regner<\/span>? \"Daniel\r\nasked.\" Do you understand?\"<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n


\r\n<\/span>I\r\nnodded my head affirmatively, and he continued the discourse I had interrupted\r\na few minutes earlier.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n


\r\n<\/span>\"Let's\r\nget back to my question to you about Nebuchadnezzar's dream and his order to Arioch<\/span>.\"When I realized what the king's orders were,\r\nnamely, to destroy all of the magi because they couldn't tell him what he\r\ndreamed, nor give him an interpretation of that dream, I knew immediately in my\r\nspirit that the Lord would not only unfold the dream to me, He would also at\r\nthe same time explain the dream in such a way that I could make the king\r\nunderstand what God was saying.\"<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n


\r\n<\/span>\"God\r\nhad given me favor with Arioch<\/span>, the Captain of the\r\nKing's Guard, so that I was given an opportunity to request time from the king\r\nto put the whole matter before the Lord. Hananiah<\/span>, Mishael<\/span> and Azariah<\/span> were quick to\r\nagree with me and we began a time of prayer and intercession and waiting in the\r\npresence of the Lord. That same night, God gave me a vision in which he\r\nliterally put on display for me every facet of the king's dream, along with a\r\nfull understanding of the events that would follow throughout the centuries to\r\ncome.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n


\r\n<\/span>\"It\r\nwas really fascinating to me! It was the first of many like experiences in\r\nwhich the future unfolded in front of me like a scroll. As amazing as it was\r\nfor Nebuchadnezzar to hear his own forgotten dream read back to him, I was\r\nhonestly just as amazed to see and hear what the Spirit of the Lord was saying\r\nabout the kingdoms that would succeed the Babylonian kingdom.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n


\r\n<\/span>\u201cWhat\r\nit did ultimately was to inspire and compel me towards a life of prayer and\r\nintercession more than ever before. Intercession, you see, is more than simply\r\npraying intensely over some situation or set of events. Intercession is active\r\nparticipation in bringing to pass the heart's desire and the will of Father God\r\non earth and in the affairs of men. Intercession is what Father God has\r\nordained for us in order that the Kingdom of Heaven and God's rulership<\/span> be implemented and enforced here.\"<\/span>
\r\n<\/span>That\r\nlast comment sparked a series of questions from me -- and we'll take those up\r\nin our next Coffee Break.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\r\n<\/span>When people are given a glimpse of their individual role in God's\r\ndestiny, it transforms them and sets them on the course to repentance and the\r\nimpartation of the Christ-like nature<\/span><\/i>. They see the cause of God and are forever\r\nchanged and have the joy of their salvation restored. We are seeing that happen\r\nnow. Strongholds of hopelessness, despair, depression and other oppressive\r\nmindsets will be overcome when God's \"zoe<\/span>\"\r\nlife is breathed into an exceedingly great army. -- Paul Keith Davis<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/p>\r\n\r\n
