ANOTHER COFFEE BREAK: DREAMS FROM THE LORD II<\/h2><\/div><\/div><\/div>

And another Good Morning to you!<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Coffee\u2019s\r\non! Come and get it!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

In\r\nour last Coffee Break, I laid out the essence of the two dreams that Della and\r\nI had on the night of August 7\/morning of August 8th<\/sup> of this year.\r\nToday I\u2019d like to explore the prophetic pictures that have unfolded as a result\r\nand the strong Word from the Lord to the body of Christ.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

DREAM NUMBER ONE, Part One<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

There\r\nare two main themes that Della and I have seen within these dreams. That\u2019s to\r\nsay, there are two primary areas of focus and two primary messages.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nfirst is the picture of the officer who put me under arrest because he saw me\r\nas a threat to his way of life, his beliefs and his governmental structure. The\r\nsecond was the \u201cbiting and devouring\u201d of those who were caged, and this is a\r\npicture of a situation that exists in the body of Christ to a large extent.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

I\r\nwill clarify that by saying that this seems to be endemic in the western\r\ncultures more than in the eastern. Our western society has so altered the\r\nstructure and makeup of the way the body of Christ lives and operates so much\r\nthat believers from the first and second century body would scarcely recognize\r\nus today. Let me digress from the dream interpretation to explain.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Ekklesia<\/span><\/i><\/span>\r\n<\/span>has devolved into\r\n\u201cchurch.\u201d The intimacy of a personal love-relationship with the Lord Jesus\r\nChrist has faded into \u201creligion\u201d and religious practices, traditions,\r\nformalism, icons and man-made doctrines that have nothing whatever to do with\r\nour walk with the Lord.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

(<\/span>Ekklesia<\/span><\/i><\/span>, incidentally, is\r\nthe Greek word used throughout the New Testament that translators have turned\r\ninto \u201cchurch.\u201d The word itself was coined by the Alexandrian translators during\r\nthe period 300 \u2013 275 BC when they sought for a means to convey the true sense\r\nof the Hebrew<\/span> <\/span>Ya.ad<\/span><\/i> <\/span>and its counterpart,<\/span> <\/span>Mowadah<\/span><\/i><\/span>\r\n<\/span>(the calling\r\ntogether of the betrothed by the bridegroom<\/u>).<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Ekklesia<\/span><\/i><\/span>\r\n<\/span>is nothing at all\r\nlike the contemporary form of church with song services, announcements,\r\noffering-taking, sermons and prayers at the altar. These are all trappings\r\nadded when the doctrine of the Nicolaitanes<\/span>\r\n(Revelation 2:6, 13) began to really infiltrate and take hold within the body\r\nof Christ, and history tells us that there really was no such thing as \u201cchurch\u201d\r\nuntil roughly 225 AD during the reign of Alexander Severus when an old temple was\r\nconverted into a church \u2013 and even then, the manner of gathering was quite\r\ndifferent than we see in today\u2019s modern churches.)<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Aahhhh<\/span><\/span>\u2026.but that\u2019s another\r\ntopic for discussion entirely. We won\u2019t try to go there today. Let\u2019s get to the\r\ncore of what I saw.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

When\r\nI shared these dreams a short time ago with a group of pastors, the\r\nnear-unanimous consensus was that the people were starving to death because the\r\nleadership over them was not fulfilling its responsibility. The people were not\r\nreceiving the kind of nourishment that would foster love or grace or wholeness.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\n\u201cofficer\u201d in the dream was a type of the \u201cleader\u201d who has charge over folks,\r\nbut has no personal relationship with the Lord. He was austere, legalistic,\r\ndemanding and thought he had the right to rule over them and say what they\r\ncould believe and not believe. Because he had no personal relationship with the\r\nLord, anyone who talked about such a thing was a heretic and a fool. Because he\r\nbelieved that he had a legal right to control what folks see and hear \u2013 and I\r\nwas promoting something foreign to him \u2013 I was an immediate threat that had to\r\nbe dealt with.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

This\r\nofficer was both a type and a picture of the shepherds and pastors who are\r\nsupposed to be guarding and protecting God\u2019s people and ensuring that they get\r\nthe kind of nourishment that will make them grow into healthy, productive\r\nindividuals who are profitable to the Kingdom of God.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

We\u2019ll\r\ntalk more about this after a bit.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

* * * * * * * *<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

DREAM NUMBER ONE, Part Two<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\npicture that unfolded in the second part of the dream in seeing people who were\r\nliterally biting and devouring one another and cannibalizing each other was\r\nboth horrifying and sobering. There are some scriptures we can take a quick\r\nlook at before we continue.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Galatians 5: 14-17<\/span><\/u><\/b>:<\/span><\/b> <\/span><\/b>14<\/span><\/sup><\/i>For\r\nall the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt<\/span>\r\nlove thy neighbour<\/span> as thyself. 15<\/sup>But if ye\r\nbite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another. 16<\/sup>This\r\nI say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil<\/span>\r\nthe lust of the flesh. 17<\/sup>For the flesh lusteth<\/span>\r\nagainst the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary\r\nthe one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.<\/span><\/i><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

All\r\nsense of love for one another had vanished when these people were caged up and\r\nfed minimally. The attitude was \u201cevery man (or woman) for himself.\u201d They were\r\nliterally consuming one another. The cannibalism had obviously resulted in the\r\ndeaths of many before I ever got there, and several of the people in that cage\r\nwere close to death because of their \u201cdevoured\u201d condition.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

I\u2019m\r\nnot pointing fingers at anyone here. But this is a picture of a condition that\r\nprevails in many parts of the body of Christ today. The lack of proper\r\nspiritual nourishment, the lack of a personal love-relationship with the Lord\r\nJesus Christ, the missing intimacy that accompanies our walk with the Lord, the\r\nwatering down and even omission of basic fundamental truths that contribute to\r\nour ability to be in Christ and have Him manifested in us, all contribute to\r\nsetting the stage for people to pick and swipe at one another.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\ndissatisfaction that results when folks go through the motions \u2013 religious\r\nrituals and forms \u2013 without the signs and wonders that are supposed to follow\r\nthe believer causes a malaise that in turn results in people looking at and\r\njudging one another. They don\u2019t like what they see; and the problem is that\r\nthey are in fact judging themselves.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Religion\r\ncauses folks to live by a measurement standard rather than a love standard.\r\nWhat was it that Paul wrote?<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

I\r\nCorinthians 13:4-7 (NASB)<\/span><\/u><\/b>:<\/span><\/b> <\/span><\/b>4<\/span><\/sup><\/i>Love\r\nis patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not\r\narrogant, 5<\/sup>does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is\r\nnot provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, 6<\/sup>does not\r\nrejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; 7<\/sup>bears all\r\nthings, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.<\/span><\/i><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

There\r\nis nothing about love \u2013 God\u2019s love \u2013<\/span>\r\n<\/span>agape<\/span><\/i> <\/span>\u2013\r\nthat lives by a measurement standard. It is a love that seeks to build up, to\r\nencourage, to save and preserve, to uphold and nurture. When<\/span> <\/span>agape<\/span><\/i> <\/span>is\r\nmissing and you have<\/span> <\/span>phileo<\/span><\/i><\/span> <\/span>in\r\nits place instead (we normally refer to this as \u201cbrotherly love,\u201d but it is a\r\nlove which requires reciprocation in order to exist), value judgments form\r\nconcerning the behavior of others, the standards of their living (poor,\r\nmiddle-class or wealthy) and whether they think like you do or not.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Because<\/span> <\/span>agape<\/span><\/i> <\/span>is\r\na love that functions in the realm of the Spirit and not the flesh, people\r\nwhose lives are relegated to living by reason, analysis, and logic have little\r\nconcept of what it means to \u201cwalk in the Spirit.\u201d Without that walk and life in\r\nthe Spirit, folks resort to their judgments of one another and their analytical\r\ndecisions which result almost every time in the \u201cother\u201d person coming up short\r\nin their eyes.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

In\r\norder to walk and live in the Spirit, God\u2019s people must have the kind of\r\nspiritual nourishment that enables them to grow in God\u2019s grace, His Love, His\r\nmercy, His authority and His power. When that nourishment is missing and they\r\ncan\u2019t even get \u201cthe sincere milk of the Word\u201d they live as \u201c<\/span>brephos<\/span><\/i><\/span>\u201d or \u201c<\/span>paidion<\/span><\/i><\/span>\u201d (babes or infants)\r\nwho never even grow enough in the Lord to become \u201c<\/span>teknons<\/span><\/i><\/span>\u201d immature children,\r\nlet alone \u201c<\/span>huios<\/span><\/i><\/span>\u201d fully grown, fully matured sons who function in and with\r\nFather\u2019s authority.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

What\r\nI witnessed in that cage were people who were or had been professing\r\nChristians. Had you asked them before they were thrown into the cage of their\r\nstanding in Christ, most of them would have no doubt been glad to tell you that\r\nthey had walked with the Lord for some years and knew Him well.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

In\r\nfact, they didn\u2019t know Him at all \u2013 at least not in a revelatory way. They had\r\na knowledge of God, they undoubtedly had read the Word, they were likely\r\nfaithful in going to church services, paying tithes, giving, ministering to the\r\npoor and needy and doing \u201cgood works.\u201d Jesus described people like this on\r\nseveral occasions. Remember how He put it?<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Matthew 7:22-23<\/span><\/u><\/b>:<\/span> <\/span>22<\/span><\/sup><\/i>Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord,\r\nhave we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and\r\nin thy name done many wonderful works? 23<\/sup>And then will I profess\r\nunto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.<\/span><\/i><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Are\r\nyou seeing what Jesus said? \u201cI NEVER knew you!\u201d Wow! The Greek text renders\r\nthis statement, \u201cI never had a personal relationship with you. We were never\r\nintimate with each other.\u201d The essence of what Jesus is saying is this: \u201cYou\r\ndid lots of good things supposedly on my behalf, but you WERE NOT doing them in\r\nmy name \u2013 my<\/span> <\/span>onoma<\/span><\/i><\/span>! Yes, you spouted my name and used it\r\nas a formula, but you and I were not One. You were not in me when you did these\r\nworks.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Jesus\r\nfinishes off his rebuke with a command for them to depart from Him because they\r\nwere workers \u2013 implementers, if you please \u2013 of iniquity. Again, WOW! This\r\nword, iniquity, comes from the Greek,<\/span>\r\n<\/span>anomia<\/span><\/i><\/span> <\/span>or<\/span> <\/span>anomos<\/span><\/i><\/span>, and refers generally to lawlessness,\r\na violation of the law, or illegality.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Jesus\r\nwas speaking from a Jewish perspective, and not a Greek understanding, when He\r\nreferred to them as workers of iniquity. The Hebrew<\/span> <\/span>\u2018avah<\/span><\/span><\/i> <\/span>or<\/span> <\/span>\u2018avon<\/span><\/span><\/i> <\/span>describes\r\nperversity \u2013 a \u201cbent\u201d, if you will, in one\u2019s character which pushes them or\r\ninclines them mentally, emotionally and spiritually to do something wrong.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

What\r\nJesus was describing, therefore, was people who were teaching and developing a\r\ncharacter trait of religion rather than a personal relationship with Him.\r\nReligion is perverse. Religion causes folks to violate the most basic element\r\nof our walk with God. It takes love out of the picture and replaces it with\r\nrote, ritual, performance and duty. Religion has all the form of Godliness, but\r\nno power and no authority.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nproblem with these folks whom Jesus was describing in His parable was that they\r\nwere using Jesus\u2019 name illegally. They were not in Him<\/i>, and He was not in\r\nthem<\/i>. We refer back to something Paul wrote to the Ekklesia<\/span>\r\nin Corinth:<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

II Corinthians 5:17<\/span><\/u><\/b>:<\/span> <\/span>17<\/span><\/sup><\/i>Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new\r\ncreature (<\/span><\/i>ktisis<\/span><\/i><\/span>: original formation): old things are passed away; behold, all\r\nthings are become new.<\/span><\/i><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Again\r\nPaul writes to the Galatians and says:<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Galatians 6:15-16<\/span><\/u><\/b>:<\/span> <\/span>15<\/span><\/sup><\/i>For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth<\/span> anything, nor uncircumcision<\/span>,\r\nbut a new creature<\/span><\/i> <\/span>(ktisis<\/span>).<\/span><\/i> <\/span>16<\/span><\/sup><\/i>And as many as walk according to this rule,\r\npeace be on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God.<\/span><\/i><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Are\r\nyou seeing it? Once a person is in Christ<\/i>, they are a newly-minted\r\noriginal formation. That may sound funny so let me put it like this. Adam was\r\nthe original formation. He was created in the image and likeness of the Lord\r\nGod. He was the original pattern for mankind. Jesus came as the last Adam to\r\nreverse the curse that Adam\u2019s disobedience brought upon the human race and to\r\nbe \u2013 once again \u2013 the pattern Son in whose image and likeness we could and\r\nwould become.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Thus\r\nPaul writes that if we are \u201cin Christ\u201d \u2013 wait, let me clarify this statement.\r\nThe Greek text uses the word \u201cChristos\u201d, which is equivalent to the Hebrew \u201cMaschiach<\/span>\u201d (Messiah). This word properly describes \u201cthe\r\nanointed one\u201d but it goes further to describe \u201chis anointing.\u201d Thus to be \u201cin\r\nChrist\u201d is to be \u201cin the Anointed One and in His anointing.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

In\r\nwriting to the Galatians Paul makes clear that \u201ccircumcision\u201d (or the keeping\r\nof the Law and separating oneself from lawless activity) accomplishes nothing\r\nas far as being \u201cin Christ\u201d is concerned. At the same time, he also says that uncircumcision<\/span> (or not separating oneself from the world)\r\ndoes not alter or make a person unrighteous. Righteousness is not judged by the\r\nLaw, and it is not judged by not keeping the Law.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

There\r\nwas no Law except for the one commandment given to Adam and Eve concerning the\r\nTree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. There is no Law that governs us a\r\nChristians \u2013 except for the Law of Love. Whether we keep the Law or not does\r\nnot make us Christians, and it does not cause us to be \u201cin Christ.\u201d If we are\r\nin Christ we are literally new formations \u2013 newly created beings for whom the\r\nLaw does not apply.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

In\r\nso saying, of course, I\u2019m not saying that it doesn\u2019t matter if we are\r\nlaw-breakers; it does matter. We ought not to break the law. But there is a\r\nhigher Law that governs our existence once we are new creations \u2013 new\r\nformations and new beings \u2013 in Christ. That Law is<\/span> <\/span>agape<\/span><\/i>: the very nature and\r\ncharacter and makeup of the Lord Jesus Christ! To walk and live by this Law is\r\nabsolutely revelatory.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

OK.\r\nI didn\u2019t mean to take up so much time on this topic but I needed to make sure\r\nyou understand the foundation of what the Lord was showing me in the dream\r\nconcerning the Christians who were in the cage.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

* * * * * * * *<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

I\u2019d\r\nthought to get farther along in the unfolding of the interpretation and\r\nrevelation of this first dream today, and we need to return to our discussion\r\non the picture of the \u201cofficer\u201d who threw me and the others into the cage.\r\nHowever, I think we will pause for today and pick up this discussion in our\r\nnext Coffee Break.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The Holy Spirit is moving and\r\noperating in this day and age in non-traditional ways; and any attempts we make\r\nto box Him in or try to second-guess Him are doomed to failure. Those who are\r\nwilling to hear what He has to say and are ready to \u201coperate outside the box\u201d\r\nwill see and experience the Glory of the Lord!<\/span><\/i><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n
