Greetings\r\nto you all in the name of our Lord and Bridegroom, Jesus Christ!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

With\r\nall that the Lord has been doing in our midst, and all the changes that have\r\nbeen and are occurring, it seemed appropriate to cover the significant things\r\nHe has been speaking, as well as some of the things we have been experiencing.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

First\r\nand foremost, the Holy Spirit has been sounding a clarion call to the Bride.That<\/span> call has been to intimacy with the Lord Jesus\r\nChrist -- our Bridegroom.This<\/span> call is different from\r\nanything heard in previous generations, or moves of the Holy Spirit.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Where,\r\nin previous generations, the call has primarily been heard within the\r\n\"Church, or corporate \"Body of Christ\" for a people who would\r\ngrow up in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ, this call has been\r\nfor a people who will come away from<\/b> the \"Church\" -- away from\r\neverything they have known in the past: their doctrines, their understanding of\r\nthe Lord, their \"ministries,\" their gifts, their talents --\r\neverything -- and lay them down.This<\/span> is a call to an\r\nintimate, personal love relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, Himself.His<\/span> desire is for a Bride whose only priority is\r\nHim!Just<\/span> Him!<\/b><\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Allow\r\nme for a moment to sound like a radical.Jesus<\/span> Christ,\r\nour Bridegroom, is not calling us<\/i><\/b> to prayer!Not<\/span>\r\nintercession!Not<\/span> Bible study!Not<\/span>\r\npreaching or teaching!Not<\/span> the singing of Praise!Not<\/span> listening to good teaching CD's, or praise CD's!Not<\/span> being involved in church activities!Not<\/span>\r\ndoing things for<\/b> the Lord in order to please Him!Not<\/span>\r\npreparing for \"end times,\" or worrying about the \"rapture!\"\r\nNot concentrating on what needs to be done in order to prepare for His coming!Not<\/span> praying for the sick, ministering deliverance,\r\nor laying hands on people!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

It\r\nsounds almost heretical, doesn't it?These<\/span> are all the\r\nthings we have known and done in the past.It<\/span> is not<\/b>\r\nthat there is anything wrong with prayer, intercession, Bible study, preaching,\r\nteaching, praise, etc.In<\/span> fact, these things are a\r\nnatural part of our existence as believers.All<\/span> of\r\nthese things are areas to which the Lord has previously called and directed our\r\nattention.It<\/span> is, simply, that the Holy Spirit is\r\ndrawing attention to the fact that these things have become priorities which\r\nhave supplanted the<\/i><\/b> priority which is the deepest desire of our\r\nBridegroom's heart. The Holy Spirit is instructing us to come and spend time\r\nwith the Bridegroom, and set aside all of these things -- and everything else\r\nHe addresses -- as the<\/i><\/b> important, priority activities.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Let\r\nme clarify these remarks lest the Enemy twist things out of context for some.Each<\/span> of these areas of activity have been important\r\nparts of our foundation in the Lord, and coming to know about Him.They<\/span> are essential introductions in getting to know Him.Referring<\/span> to one of the last Coffee Breaks, this is all\r\na part of that period of growth in our growing-up in God we know as \"<\/span><\/span>teknon<\/span><\/i><\/span>.\"<\/span>When we say that the\r\nHoly Spirit is calling and instructing the people of God to lay these things\r\ndown, it is not<\/b> -- and I repeat, not!<\/b> -- that they do not\r\ncontinue to be a part of our lives.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

What\r\nhappens is that our emphasis and focus changes.They<\/span>\r\nare no longer the central thrust of our lives.Of<\/span>\r\ncourse we still pray and intercede as the Spirit of the Lord directs.Reading<\/span> the Bible and meditating on that which is\r\nquickened by the Lord still remains an ingredient of our daily lives.Teaching<\/span>......well, what do you call this Coffee\r\nBreak?<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Praise\r\nas a disciplined part of our daily life is a natural byproduct of our whole\r\nrelationship with the Lord.It<\/span> was repeatedly\r\ncommanded by David -- under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit -- as a daily\r\nactivity, and he certainly demonstrated it with his assignment of the families\r\nof Asaph<\/span>, Heman<\/span> and Jeduthun<\/span> to the daily ministry of praise and worship unto\r\nthe Lord.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Yet,\r\nwe are instructed not<\/b> to stand still -- to be content doing the same\r\nthings we have always done.We<\/span> are being called onward.We<\/span> are being called into His presence.We<\/span>\r\nare being called to intimacy with Him.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Most\r\nprayer is inherently one-way communication.It<\/span>\r\nincorporates supplication, intercession, pleadings and simple requests.Prayer<\/span> -- or that which we think of as prayer,\r\nanyway --is something which puts us in the role of the supplicant.The<\/span>\r\nLord Jesus Christ is looking for a whole lot more out of His Bride than\r\n\"supplicants.\" While prayer begets answers, it does not beget the\r\nkind of intimacy that the Lord is after.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

(I\r\nknow this is going to get me in trouble with a lot of folks who will think I've\r\nwandered off the reservation and gotten myself into heresy.Bear<\/span>\r\nwith me, people!Bear<\/span> with me.When<\/span>\r\nI refer to \"prayer\" in this context, I'm only speaking of\r\n\"prayer\" within the traditional use of the word, NOT in the true\r\nscriptural context!)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Bible\r\nreading and meditation serve a wonderful purpose in that we can learn pattern\r\nprinciples of the heart's desire of the Bridegroom as we allow the Holy Spirit\r\nto teach us.The<\/span> preaching and teaching we have\r\nreceived -- and continue to receive -- out of the life experiences of those who\r\nhave learned and received from the Holy Spirit provides the fundamental foundations\r\nof growth in the way we relate to the Lord.Pattern<\/span>\r\nprinciples, however, are no substitute for that real and personal, intimate\r\nlove relationship sought after by the Lord.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Praise\r\nis an act of our will.It<\/span> requires a mental thought process.With<\/span> praise, we extol the Lord for His wonderful\r\nworks and His greatness.We<\/span> laud Him for the things He\r\nhas done, and is doing.But<\/span> praise is not worship, and\r\nworship is not praise.Praise<\/span> comes from the intellect\r\nwhile worship comes from the spirit.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Jesus\r\nsaid,<\/span> <\/span>\"An hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshippers\r\nshall worship the Father in Spirit and truth, for such people the Father seeks\r\nto be His worshipers.God<\/span> is a Spirit; and those who\r\nworship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth.\"<\/span><\/i>(see John 4:23-24)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\ncall of the Paraklete<\/span>, the Holy Spirit, therefore, is\r\nfor a people who will \"come away\" with Him -- in the realm of the Spirit.This<\/span> is a call to intimacy with Jesus Christ.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

He\r\ndoes not want us to come predicated on the things we have done, or are doing.He<\/span> is not impressed with our gifts, our talents, or\r\nour I.Q. since they came from Him to begin with.He<\/span> is\r\nnot impressed with our \"ministerial\" titles.He<\/span>\r\ndoes not want us coming to \"study\" Him.He<\/span>\r\ndoes not want us coming as supplicants, or intercessors.He<\/span>\r\nwants us to come as His loving Bride, whose first and only priority<\/u>\r\nis to love<\/u> Him, and know<\/u> Him.<\/b><\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Everything\r\nwe have done in the past -- all the previous moves of the Holy Spirit -- have\r\nserved to help us learn about<\/b> Him.We<\/span> have\r\nlearned about<\/b> His graces. We have learned about<\/b> His gifts, and\r\nhow to operate in them. We have learned about<\/b> His ways, and caught\r\nglimpses of His plans and desires for the future.None<\/span>\r\nof these things, however, have brought us into a place where we know Him<\/u><\/b>\r\nas He knows us.None<\/span> of these things, as wonderful as\r\nthey have been, have brought us into the Holy of Holies.None<\/span>\r\nof these things have brought us into a relationship with our Bridegroom-to-be\r\nwhich separates us from all activities, all doctrinal predispositions, and all\r\nother people so that we can be alone with Him.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Hence,\r\nthe call of the Holy Spirit (and this call is going forth on a world-wide\r\nbasis) is for believers who will become His Bride -- not just servants, and not\r\njust friends.It<\/span> is a call tocome<\/span>\r\naway with Him into His secret place, and be alone with Him.(See Song of Solomon\r\n2:14, Psalm 91:1.)This is a call to know Him<\/u><\/b> -- not<\/i><\/b>\r\nsimply know about<\/b> Him, His ways, His gifts, His graces, His ministries,\r\netc. -- to know Him<\/b> as our other self; and to be known as His\r\ncounterpart, His other self:<\/b> the Bride whom He has prepared as His\r\nco-equal, groomed, fitted, trained and equipped to sit with Him on His throne.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

This\r\nis a call to know Him after the Spirit -- not after our flesh -- and, not<\/b>\r\nafter our intellect.This<\/b><\/span> is a call to WORSHIP!It<\/span><\/span><\/b> is,\r\nfirst and foremost, a call to personal worship -- a call to separate ourselves\r\nunto Him.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

(By\r\nthis, I don't mean that we should run away and hide in the wilderness, or to\r\ncut ourselves off from others.)We may, indeed, find ourselves cut off from\r\nothers because we no longer perform to their expectations, or measure up to\r\ntheir religious standards.Let's<\/span> make it clear,\r\nhowever, that we are not (and should never be) the ones who are cutting\r\nourselves off.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

A\r\nfurther note while we are on this topic: There is a dividing and separating\r\nwhich is taking place which we have nothing to do with.As<\/span>\r\nthe Holy Spirit calls, and we respond, there are brethren and sisters who, for\r\nreasons we do not know or understand, either have not heard, or have not\r\nresponded to the call of the Bridegroom. Frequently, these are friends whom we\r\nhave known, loved, and fellowshipped with for many years.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Our\r\nresponse to the Bridegroom's call necessarily<\/b> causes separation. It is\r\nnot something we choose or desire -- and it may not be a long-lasting\r\nseparation -- but when we respond to the call to \"come away\", it is not<\/b>\r\na call to \"come away with<\/b>\" our brethren and sisters: it is a\r\ncall to come away with the Bridegroom.Hence<\/span>, our\r\nresponse produces something within our spirits towards the Lord Jesus Christ\r\nwhich others may not understand, and is foreign to prior upbringing and\r\nindoctrination within the \"church\" structure.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Only\r\nas our brethren respond themselves will the gap be bridged and understanding be\r\ngenerated within their spirits.We<\/span> do not want them\r\ncut off.We<\/span> want to see them respond to the\r\n\"romantic\" beckoning of the Lord Jesus Christ. That is, and must\r\nbe<\/b>, <\/b>however, a decision which is strictly between them and the Holy\r\nSpirit.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\ncall of the Bridegroom is, secondly, a call to corporate worship.By<\/span>\r\nthis, I am referring to a gathering together of those who have individually\r\nheard His call and responded: Ekklesia<\/span> in its purest form!These<\/span> are those who have responded to the call of the\r\nBridegroom, \"Come away with me, my Beloved!<\/i><\/b>\"<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

They\r\nhave left all to be alone with Him. In the corporate setting, the Holy Spirit\r\nbrings these individuals together to experience a unique expression of intimacy\r\nin Him: unique in the sense that it is not available in any other way, and\r\nunique in the sense that none of us have ever before seen or heard the\r\nBridegroom express Himself in such an extraordinary way.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Within\r\nthis corporate setting, we find ourselves literally transported beyond our\r\nearthly setting into a dimensionwhere<\/span> the Lord\r\nreveals the things nearest and dearest to His heart; and where He allows us to\r\nsee and experience His purposes -- then respond to Him.We<\/span>\r\nare enabled to see, in graphic visual manner, events unfolding in the heavenlies<\/span>, and instructed how to proceed.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Where,\r\nin time past, the focus of our attention has frequently been on intercession,\r\nor prayer for certain individuals, or the unfolding of specific events, we now\r\nfind that with the focus of attention on ministering to the Lord -- worshiping\r\nand adoring Him -- things are accomplished in the realm of intercession without\r\nattention being specifically given to it.Needs<\/span> are\r\nmet, provision is made, bondage is broken, people are healed or delivered,\r\nfamilies see the intervention of the Lord in their affairs, etc.It<\/span>\r\noccurs, however, as Bridegroom and Bride -- in union<\/b> -- accomplish it as\r\na matter of natural course by virtue of their being joined together. There is\r\nsingleness of purpose in this union -- and singleness of action.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

There\r\nis a power and authority that none of us could possibly imagine released in the\r\nmidst of this corporate worship. It is important to note that this is something\r\nthe Lord does, and not<\/b> something which we accomplish by any act of our will.There<\/span> are no formulas to follow which can bring any of\r\nthis about.It<\/span> all takes place at His will<\/b> and\r\nchoosing in the midst of our corporate gatherings.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

I've\r\nbeen reminiscing a bit, thinking back over the past 20-plus years since the\r\nLord began to bring us into this dimension.None<\/span> of\r\nthis happened or began immediately when we first began to gather together for\r\nthis kind of worship.Earle<\/span>, Marcia, Della and I had\r\nbeen gathering together daily for months, disciplining ourselves to meet for\r\nworship, even if all we had was ten or fifteen minutes out of the day, in the\r\nmidst of unbelievably hectic work schedules.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

As\r\nwe continued to meet daily, the Lord began to give us these experiences.At<\/span>\r\nfirst they were sporadic. As the worship continued, however, we began to\r\nexperience visions. The corporate gatherings increased in the number of people,\r\nand we found that we were, from time to time, being literally picked up and\r\ntransported into the heavenlies<\/span>. Sometimes this happened\r\nwith only one or two people during the worship, and sometimes with many.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

(I\r\ndo not mean to imply that we were physically picked up -- that is, in the flesh.Rather<\/span>, this happened (and continues to this day) in\r\na spiritual dimension where we lost our awareness ofthose<\/span>\r\npresent; and the Lord transported us in the same way that the Apostle Paul\r\nrelates in II Corinthians 12:2-4.)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

It\r\nis important to remember that these experiences were not<\/b> (nor can they\r\nbe) the purpose of the corporate gathering.The<\/span> excuse\r\nthat \"I am not an accomplished musician or singer,\" will not wash.It<\/span> matters not whether you can sing like Whitney\r\nHouston, or carry a tune in a bucket.One<\/span> does not\r\nhave to be an Andres Segovia or a Chet Atkins to pick up the guitar and play.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

We\r\ndo not come to spend time with the Lord with expectations predicated on our\r\nmusical skills or accomplishments -- even though those skills are a blessing\r\nfrom the Lord.Our<\/span> gathering for worship is not a\r\nmusical performance based in one's musicianship or vocal skills.There<\/span>\r\nhave been times when we have gathered with no instruments at all!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Two\r\nof the songs on one of our early recordings, THEBRIDE'SRESPONSE<\/b>,\"Arise,My<\/i><\/b><\/span>\r\nLove, My Fair One<\/i><\/b>,\" and, \"I Will Come Away<\/i><\/b>,\"\r\ncame to Della when she was alone with the Lord -- and not even around others in\r\na corporate setting. The Lord gave Earle the music to \"The\r\nProcessional<\/i><\/b>,\" while he was driving down the freeway in his truck,\r\nworshipping the Lord.He<\/span> grabbed his pocket recorder\r\nand whistled the tune into it in order to remember it and share it with me later.The<\/span> Lord gave me \"Arise, My Beloved! Arise<\/i><\/b>!\"\r\nwhen I was by myself in the bathtub.The<\/span> common\r\ndenominator in these is that they all came while we were worshiping -- alone.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

By\r\nthe same token, much of our music comes spontaneously while we are gathered\r\ntogether corporately.There<\/span> are no formulas for this.The<\/span> lack of musical backgrounds cannot be an excuse\r\nfor not gathering.For<\/span> those who struggle to enter\r\ninto worship because of past programming within the structured\r\n\"church,\" or have only understood and participated in praise, this\r\nshould not be a block.The<\/span> Lord takes us where we are.It<\/span> is only necessary to ask Him to place a spirit of\r\nworship within you and to build upon it.He<\/span> will do it\r\n-- in abundance!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

We\r\nhave been gone from Trails' End for 15 years but the gatherings continue, and\r\nthe spontaneous praise, worship, prayer and intercession all continue.Being<\/span> involved in this kind of spontaneous praise\r\nand worship as a musician is still amazing to me!I<\/span>\r\nhave frequently said to Rich Warren (who mostly plays the bass) that I find it\r\ntotally astounding to watch him.We<\/span> get started with\r\nsome piece of spontaneous praise or worship and he just sits back, closes his\r\neyes and gets lost in the Spirit.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

We\r\nmay have never played or even heard the music before, but he listens with his\r\nspirit to the flow of what the Holy Spirit is giving and tracks the music,\r\nhitting the right bass note flawlessly.He<\/span> doesn't\r\nwatch me, he doesn't pay attention to how my fingers are positioned on the neck\r\nof the guitar in order to get some cue<\/span> as to where I\r\nmay go next, and we don't have any discussion between us as to what we're doing.It<\/span> just flows!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

We\r\ncontinue to experience an incredible peace and joy which envelops our whole\r\nbeings in the midst of this worship.It<\/span> is transmitted\r\nthrough the music in a manner which defies natural explanation.Change<\/span>\r\nis taking place in our beings as a result of living in this worship.We<\/span>\r\ndon't fully understand, yet, all that is taking place but know that the change\r\nis a product of the continuous presence of the Lord.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

We\r\nare simply responding to the call of the Bridegroom to the Bride.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n
