In case you missed that, Hi!<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Been another one of those weeks, folks!\u00a0 Can't seem to catch up with myself.<\/span>\u00a0 Everything that can\r\ninterrupt our activities has.\u00a0 Yup.<\/span>\u00a0 Such is\r\nlife -- these days, anyway.\u00a0 Looks like it's going to\r\ncontinue throughout the holiday season, too.<\/span>\u00a0 Della and I expect to\r\nbe in Canada during the last week of December and first week of January for a\r\nconference.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Coffee's on, folks!\u00a0 Got some of that double-roasted\r\nFrench Roast blended with some Sumatran and dark roasted Columbian Supremo<\/span> for today's brew.\u00a0 Talk about a wonderful\r\naroma!\u00a0 Tastes better than it smells, too.<\/span>\u00a0\r\nBetter get some while the gettin<\/span>' is good!<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

When we last left off in the story about our son, Chris,\r\nand his decision to move his family to Sunnyside so they could be a part of our\r\nchurch fellowship and family, I was telling you about his effort to buy a home.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

This was a rather unique home, elegantly landscaped with\r\ngardens (yeah, plural!) and walkways, a pasture for horses (or cows, or\r\nwhatever), fifty-odd fruit trees, a barn, chicken coop, beehive, pig stall --\r\nand what all!\u00a0 It was -- to say the least -- an unusual place with lots of\r\npotential room for Chris's family.\u00a0 Chris visited the home only once in\r\nhis short stay before returning to work in <\/span>Alaska<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:State>, but\r\nthat one visit was enough.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

As I also noted last week, there was another buyer in\r\nfront of him who was better prepared financially to purchase this home on short\r\nnotice.\u00a0 The other buyer also had offered about $5,000 more than Chris was\r\nprepared to offer.\u00a0 To make a long story short, we all prayed over the\r\nhouse and felt that this was indeed Chris's house.\u00a0 Meanwhile, he returned\r\nto his job in <\/span>Alaska<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:State>.\u00a0 Chris had put the financial wheels in motion to qualify\r\nfor the purchase before he left, and began the process<\/span>\r\nof getting together a substantial down payment.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Michael Sharpe (whom I mention from time to time in these\r\nCoffee Breaks) who was Chris's real estate agent and representative advised him\r\nthat the sellers had decided to accept the first buyer's offer.\u00a0 However<\/span>, in a gesture of goodwill, they said they would put\r\nChris in second place, and that if the first buyer backed out for some reason\r\nat the last moment, they would sell him the house for what he offered.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Something like 45 days elapsed.\u00a0 Chris<\/span>\r\nhad suggested that we keep looking at other houses in case this one didn't\r\nmaterialize, but I assured him that the Lord had given me absolute confidence\r\nthat this house was his, no matter what the circumstances seemed like. We did\r\nlook at a couple other houses, by the way, but the price on both of them was\r\nmore than $100,000 higher.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The first buyer was getting ready to close on the\r\npurchase, and suddenly at the last moment his employer told him that he could\r\nnot buy a home in Sunnyside.\u00a0 He was required to live on the orchards he\r\nmanaged, or he would lose his job.\u00a0 Just like that, the home became\r\navailable for Chris.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

One more problem\/obstacle surfaced.\u00a0 Because of\r\nChris's income to debt ratio (he was still making payments on their home in <\/span>Alaska<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:State>, and had\r\nfive cars and trucks -- not counting some other responsibilities) and credit\r\nscore, the mortgage companies wanted to sock him with 11.75% for an interest\r\nrate on the mortgage.\u00a0 Despite a huge down payment on the house, it still\r\nleft him with a $2200\/month payment.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Add taxes and insurance to that, plus the $1300\/month\r\npayment on his <\/span>Alaska<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:State> home, $435\/month on his Excursion, and you have something on\r\nthe order of $4500\/month in basic payments BEFORE you get to food, utilities,\r\ngasoline and other basic living costs.\u00a0 It<\/span> takes\r\nno rocket science to figure out that you're staring at better than $6 grand\r\nevery month -- if you are careful and conserve!<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The natural instinct is to draw back in horror at the very<\/span> thought.\u00a0 And Chris just choked on it.\u00a0 He\r\ncalled me from his remote work site in <\/span>Alaska<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:State> and\r\nsaid, \"Dad, I just can't do this.\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The circumstances notwithstanding, the Holy Spirit had\r\ngenerated a confidence in me that said, \"All is well.\u00a0 I've got this\r\nunder control.\"\u00a0 So I said to Chris, \"Do you trust the Lord?\u00a0\r\nDo you trust His direction to you to move your family here?\u00a0 Do you\r\nbelieve you've heard from God?\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

He was quiet for a minute and then said, \"Yes, I\r\ndo.\"\u00a0 I answered him and said, \"Then sign the mortgage loan\r\nagreement papers and send them back to Ginny Lee in <\/span>Seattle<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:City>.\"\u00a0\r\nGinny was the agent for the lender.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

My counsel to Chris wasn't based on any emotional decision\r\njust because I thought he ought to move here from <\/span>Alaska<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:State>.\u00a0 I\r\nknew -- without a shadow of doubt -- exactly what the Lord was saying.\u00a0 I\r\nalso knew how ridiculous the circumstances appeared, and how impossible this\r\nsituation would be for Chris without God's provision on his behalf.\u00a0 There\r\nwas no obvious provision to meet this kind of obligation in sight.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

This is when your faith has to do both the talking and the\r\nwalking.\u00a0 God's economy is based entirely in love-driven faith.\u00a0 You\r\nhave to KNOW that God loves you -- personally -- and that He will NEVER direct\r\nyou to do or say anything that He won't stand behind as Father-God.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

I was extremely blessed growing up as a child to have a\r\nfather whose word was as good as gold.\u00a0 He<\/span> never made\r\na promise he didn't keep. He never gave me, or my brother, any instruction to\r\ndo something that he wouldn't back up if we failed in some way or found\r\nourselves wavering.\u00a0 It was a perfect picture of the Lord Jesus Christ.\u00a0\r\nIt was a faith-picture.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

You remember what the apostle Paul wrote in Romans 10:17?\u00a0<\/span> <\/span>\"So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word\r\nof God.\"<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>\u00a0 Just a few verses\r\nearlier in the same chapter, he says,<\/span> <\/span>\"But what saith<\/span> it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in\r\nthy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt<\/span> confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt<\/span> believe in thine<\/span> heart that\r\nGod hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt<\/span> be\r\nsaved<\/span><\/i><\/b> <\/span>(the word in the original Greek text here is<\/span> <\/span>sozo<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>,<\/span><\/b> <\/span>and it is an\r\nall-encompassing word which describes safety, salvation, deliverance,\r\nprovision for every need, health, wholeness and long life<\/u>).\u00c2\u00a0<\/span> <\/span>For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with\r\nthe mouth confession is made unto<\/span><\/i><\/b> <\/span><\/i><\/b>(sozo<\/span>)<\/span><\/i><\/b> <\/span><\/i><\/b>salvation.\"<\/span><\/i><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Got the picture?\u00a0 You can believe to your heart's\r\ncontent what God says about your health, your safety, your deliverance, or your\r\nprovision for whatever need or situation, but unless you say so with your mouth\r\n-- and continue to say so -- you'll never see faith in action.\u00a0 Faith\r\ndemands speaking.\u00a0 Without you opening your mouth to declare what God has\r\nsaid to you, the substance of what you believe will never manifest!<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

No sooner had Chris signed the papers -- and he did so in\r\nverbalized faith, believing -- <\/span>AND<\/span><\/st1:stockticker> SAYING -- that God would never give him instruction like this\r\nif He wasn't going to meet the need -- Ginny Lee went to her supervisor.\u00a0\r\nGinny is a committed, believing Christian, by the way.\u00a0 She just couldn't\r\nstand the thought of the high interest and cringed at the very thought of those\r\nescalating payments.\u00a0 On top of the 11.75%, by the way (this was an\r\nadjustable rate mortgage - <\/span>ARM<\/span><\/st1:stockticker>), the interest rate was going to sky to 15.3% within two years.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Talk about ridiculous, utterly phantasmagorical stupidity!\u00a0\r\nNo one in their right mind agrees to a mortgage with an interest rate of 15%.\u00a0\r\nIt's insane!<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Ginny's supervisor asked her if she had tried FHA.\u00a0 Because<\/span> of other prevailing circumstances, she had not.\u00a0\r\nHis answer to her was, \"Chris's large down payment (in excess of 20%)\r\noverrides all other circumstances and sets aside normal FHA rules.\u00a0 He\r\nshouldn't have any trouble qualifying.\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Ginny made one phone call and came up with a 7.5% interest\r\nrate.\u00a0 It represented something like a drop of $400\/month+ in the house\r\npayment.\u00a0 She called Michael and me (I was acting as Chris's\r\nattorney-in-fact) to let us know of the stupendous development.\u00a0 Michael\r\nwas really pushing things through for Chris and making sure nothing was missed.\r\nThe long and the short is that -- acting on Chris's behalf -- I signed the\r\npapers for his purchase on or about the 8th of August.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

There is one detail (and I'm leaving out lots of really neat\r\ndetails) worth mentioning.\u00a0 Turns out that the lender (or a loan officer\r\nfor the lender) decided that the power of attorney that Chris had signed\r\nempowering me to represent him wasn't specific enough.\u00a0 The closing date\r\nwas something like five days away. Chris was working at the Red Dog Mine just\r\nnorth of the <\/span>Arctic Circle<\/span><\/st1:place>. This is a very remote mining site.\u00a0 Transportation<\/span>\r\nto the site is by charter only, and there are only two flights in and out per\r\nweek.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The lender wanted to send Chris a new set of\r\npower-of-attorney documents, have him sign them before a notary public, and\r\nthen overnight them<\/span> back so we could do the closing on\r\nschedule.\u00a0 At<\/span> this remote mining site, they don't\r\nnormally have a notary public, and even if Chris could somehow take advantage\r\nof a Saturday charter flight to Kotzebue<\/span> or Nome to\r\nfind a notary, he still wouldn't be able to get a FedEx or <\/span>UPS<\/span><\/st1:stockticker> pickup of the\r\ndocument until Monday -- our scheduled closing day.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

He called me again.\u00a0 Monday was the lender's closing\r\ndeadline.\u00a0 If the closing didn't go through on that date, the loan would\r\nhave to be reprocessed from scratch.\u00a0 The sellers were in a predicament\r\nbecause they needed to close on that date in order to have the money to pay for\r\ntheir new home.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The Holy Spirit gave me an instant answer.\u00a0 I said to\r\nChris, \"Have Ginny Lee email<\/span> the new documents to\r\nyou.\u00a0 Print them off.\u00a0 Get in touch with your site supervisor and see\r\nif any of the office employees on site, or at your local airfield are\r\nnotaries.\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The site supervisor was standing next to Chris when he\r\ncalled me, and when he heard the conversation he said to Chris, \"We don't\r\nnormally have a notary on site, but one of our employees who is<\/span>\r\na notary just happens to be here. She'll notarize your papers for you.\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

To top things off, one of Chris's co-workers was just\r\ngetting off his six-week rotation and heading to <\/span>San Francisco<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:City>.\u00a0 He told Chris he would carry the papers as far as\r\nSeattle and FedEx them to Sunnyside from <\/span>SeaTac<\/span><\/st1:PlaceName> <\/span>Airport<\/span><\/st1:PlaceType><\/st1:place> on Sunday.\u00a0 Just<\/span> like that,\r\neverything worked! It worked like clockwork, too!\u00a0 The papers arrived at\r\nthe title company's office by <\/span>10:00 AM<\/span><\/st1:time> on Monday, and\r\nwe closed the purchase on schedule.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Think God doesn't work out even the finest details for His\r\npeople when they act according to His directions and in His will?\u00a0 Better\r\nbelieve it!\u00a0 With the Lord having worked miracles, Chris and family now\r\nhave a 4200+ square-foot home in the country, just out of Sunnyside.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

One more note to this before I move on.\u00a0 The FHA just\r\ncalled Chris a few days ago and offered to refinance and lower his interest\r\nrate to 6.25%.\u00a0 The refinance was approved last night.\u00a0 That will cut\r\nanother $160\/month off his house payment.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Are you getting the picture?\u00a0 Get your assignment,\r\nyour place, your station, your place to fit in the body of Christ FIRST.\u00a0\r\nWith that settled in your being, watch God begin to work out normally impossible\r\ndetails on your behalf.\u00a0In fact, get ready for the adventure of a\r\nlifetime.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

I said it before, and I'll say it again.\u00a0 Kingdom<\/span> <\/span>Economics<\/span> <\/span>are designed to\r\nreturn us to that \"need-less\" place -- that place of authority and\r\ndominion, that place of every conceivable need supplied, the place that Jesus\r\npromised when He said,<\/span> <\/span>\"I am come that they might have life, and that they might\r\nhave it more abundantly.\"<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Yup!\u00a0 That's the essence of Kingdom Economics.\u00a0\r\nA life of abundance!<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

But this is a lifestyle that's going to cost you -- and,\r\nNO, I don't mean monetarily, and I don't mean in terms of pain and hardship.\u00a0\r\nAt least not in the traditional sense, anyway.\u00a0 What this lifestyle is\r\ngoing to cost you is giving up your thought processes, your reasoning, your\r\nanalyses -- in other words, human logic.\u00a0 You've got to realize that to\r\nlive the life of abundance and peace that Jesus Christ has made available to\r\nevery believer\u00a0 requires a walk of faith.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Let's talk about this walk of faith for a minute.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

We've already said that real faith (as opposed to\r\n\"theoretical, religious or doctrinal faith\") demands confession.\u00a0\r\nBut real faith also demands that you have total confidence and trust in God's\r\nlove for you.\u00a0 Without that confidence and trust in the Lord, any faith is\r\npure theory and lacking in substance.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Let me take you again to the epistle of Paul (we assume\r\nhim to be the author) to the Hebrews where he writes,<\/span> <\/span>\"Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw<\/span> back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.\"<\/span><\/i><\/b>\u00a0 (<\/span>Hebrews <\/span>10:38<\/span><\/st1:time>)<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Get it?\u00a0 Anyone who draws back, anyone who backs away\r\nfrom believing and trusting and having full confidence in God and in His Word\r\nwill NOT see His pleasure.\u00a0 In other words, God will withhold the very\r\nthing from you that you desire -- and that will disappoint Him greatly.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

What was it that Jesus said?\u00a0<\/span> <\/span>\"Fear not, little flock; for it is your Fathers good\r\npleasure to give you the kingdom.\"<\/span><\/i><\/b>\u00a0\r\n(Luke 12:32)\u00a0 And it is, too!\u00a0 There's nothing that the Lord desires\r\nmore than to show us His delight and pleasure at our walk of faith and trust in\r\nHim, and our confidence in His love and His Word.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

But if we draw back, if we do not have confidence and\r\ntrust in Him, if we don't trust that His love for us wants to give us the\r\nworld, if we don't believe that He in His love wants us healthy, wealthy and\r\nwise, we will cheat not only ourselves, but the Lord by depriving Him of the\r\nopportunity to demonstrate His good pleasure.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

This may be the strangest lesson in economics you've ever\r\nhad, but what I'm sharing with you is iron-clad in God's Word.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Let's go back to something Paul wrote in his second letter\r\nto the Ekklesia<\/span> in Thessalonica:<\/span> <\/span>\"Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would\r\ncount you worthy of this calling, and fulfil<\/span> all the\r\ngood pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power: That the name\r\nof our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to\r\nthe grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.\"\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/b> <\/span>(<\/span><\/span>II Thessalonians <\/span>1:11<\/span><\/st1:time>)<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

There it is again!\u00a0 God counts and treats us as\r\nworthy when we believe Him, when we love Him, when we trust Him implicitly.\u00a0\r\nAnd when He counts us worthy, He absolutely, unconditionally fulfills His good\r\npleasure in us.\u00a0 What's more, He fulfills that good pleasure not just for\r\nour sake, but so that the name, the character, the personality, the makeup, the\r\nvery essence of the Lord Jesus and His anointing are glorified in, with and\r\nthrough us.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

You see, we are called to Him.\u00a0We are a people -- a\r\nbride (to use the Biblical metaphor) -- designed and destined to show the world\r\nGod's authority, His power, His grace, His love, His might -- His very<\/span> <\/span>onoma<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span> <\/span>!<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

We are designed and destined to be Jesus' counterpart, His\r\nother self: a people whose life and lifestyle show something to the world that\r\ncauses people to want what we have, want to be who we are and desire the love\r\nand grace we manifest.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

I don't want to run long today, and this seems like a good\r\nstopping place.\u00a0 Hopefully<\/span>, I'll get to continue\r\nthis before this week gets away from us.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

In the <\/span><\/i>Kingdom<\/span><\/i><\/st1:PlaceType> of <\/span><\/i>God<\/span><\/i><\/st1:PlaceName><\/st1:place>, what the world calls \"miracles\" are only the natural\r\nmanifestation of God's power, His love and His grace working in and through His\r\npeople.<\/span><\/i><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The Blessing of the Lord be<\/span> upon\r\nyou.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n
