Hiya<\/span><\/b><\/span>, Folks!<\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Top o' the mornin<\/span>' to you.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

I'd forgotten to mention earlier that we were hosting the\r\nWashington, DC Victory Campaign with Kenneth Copeland live on the big screen\r\nhere at River Worship Center this weekend.\u00a0 We got under way Thursday\r\nafternoon at 4:00 PM, and then Friday morning at 6:00 AM (yeah, I know that's a\r\nbit early for some folks here in the Pacific Time Zone).\u00a0 The afternoon\r\nsessions began at 11:00 AM<\/st1:time>\r\nPST, and the evening sessions at 4:00\r\n PM<\/st1:time>.\u00c2\u00a0 That said, now you know why I didn't get this Coffee\r\nBreak out on Friday as expected.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Saturday morning's session began at 6:30 AM PST with\r\nGloria Copeland.\u00a0 It was her usual Saturday Morning healing school that\r\nshe conducts at all of these conferences and conventions.\u00a0 For whatever\r\nreason -- and maybe its just my perception -- this particular healing school\r\nwas far more impactful than many of them have been.\u00a0 Kenneth joined her\r\nfor the individual ministry portion of the morning and his prophetic message to\r\nthose expecting their healing was nothing less than dynamite.\u00a0 Wish I'd\r\nrecorded it, but -- hey -- I can order the set of DVD<\/st1:stockticker>'s\r\nfrom them.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Coffee poured yet?\u00a0 Well?\u00a0 What're ya<\/span> waitin<\/span>' fer<\/span>?\u00a0\r\nLast Christmas?<\/span> The day's a wastin<\/span>'\r\ncase ya<\/span> hadn't noticed.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

OK.\u00a0 'Nuff<\/span>\r\nof the funny stuff.<\/span>\u00a0 Let's pick up today where we started yesterday\r\nwith the apostle Paul's statement again from Philippians 3:13-14.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\"Brethren, I count not myself to\r\nhave apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are\r\nbehind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward\r\nthe mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.\"<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Think David Dorsett got that message?\u00a0 Forgetting the\r\npast?\u00a0 Forgetting everything he thought he knew and not rationalizing the\r\nWord of the Lord to him?<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Nope.\u00a0 After several days and even weeks of talking\r\nand sharing and trying to help him understand exactly what the Lord was saying,\r\nI came to the conclusion that he DID understand, and just didn't want to accept\r\nit.\u00a0 Whether my analysis was right or not, a wall of separation began to\r\nbuild between us.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

He saw me as the picture of what the Lord was saying to\r\nhim and didn't want to be reminded again.\u00a0 Nevertheless<\/span>,\r\nthe Lord was going to give him a third opportunity to hear and obey.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Remember the story of the rich man who came to Jesus,\r\nhaving kept the Law all his life but who was unfulfilled?\u00a0 Remember Jesus'\r\ninstruction to him?\u00a0<\/span>\r\n<\/span>\"If thou wilt be perfect<\/span><\/i><\/b> <\/span>[the Greek text uses the word,<\/span> <\/span>teleios<\/span><\/i><\/span>, for \"complete and fulfilled\"]<\/span> <\/span>sell [all] that thou hast and give to the poor, and thou shalt<\/span> have treasure in Heaven: and come and follow\r\nme.\"<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

That's a tall order for someone whose entire frame of\r\nreference is the Law.\u00a0 That<\/span> stretches the\r\nimagination beyond any fleshly norms because it requires folks to think\r\n\"outside the box.\"\u00c2\u00a0 For someone whose trust has been in the\r\nworld system -- the world's economic system, and the way it operates -- this is\r\na command that is totally illogical.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

And this is exactly what God was going to say -- once\r\nagain -- to David Dorsett.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Communications between DD, his wife and family, and Della\r\nand me had been rather sporadic over a period of perhaps two or three years.\u00a0\r\nWe certainly kept up with his business endeavors, and we were aware that he had\r\nleft the computer business for a family-owned business in \"health\"\r\nproducts.\u00a0 I put the word \"health\" in quotes because the\r\nproducts he was selling were supposed to improve certain health problems.\u00a0\r\nMore on this shortly.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The business took off for DD and his wife like hotcakes.\u00a0\r\nBefore long, he was earning two and three times the best money he'd ever made\r\nin his life.\u00a0 Make no mistake.\u00a0 David Dorsett was a good salesman --\r\na great salesman.\u00a0 I used to tell him he could sell ice to Eskimos.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

One day he showed up at the ranch in Idaho where Della and\r\nI were living, using it as our base of operations for ministry in the\r\nnorthwest.\u00a0 He and his wife came ostensibly for one of our spontaneous\r\nworship gatherings.\u00a0 He was, however, anxious to show us his business and\r\nwanted to get us involved with him.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

As soon as he began to explain the nature of his business\r\nand what he was selling, I shook my head.\u00a0 \"David,\" I said,\r\n\"this isn't something I could sell.\u00a0 I can't sell something I don't\r\nbelieve in -- and these products are based on a theory that is neither\r\nscientific nor provable in anything but the rare individual case where a\r\nperson, by some fluke or psychosomatic case, experiences some\r\nimprovement.\"<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

I took it a step farther with David.\u00a0 \"Doc, I\r\ncan't get myself involved in something which is a substitute for the health and\r\nhealing that Jesus provides us, and I'm frankly surprised that you would.\u00a0\r\nFor someone who has known the realm of healing and the power of God like you\r\nhave, why would you exchange that for something as questionable and\r\npseudo-scientific as this?\"<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

He became immediately defensive.\u00a0 \"You know that\r\nit is God's will for us to prosper and be in health, and this business is\r\nmaking me to prosper like I've never prospered.\u00a0 In fact, I earned over $70,000\r\nlast month alone.\"<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The groan in my spirit may not have been audible to the\r\nhuman ear, but DD could hardly have missed it.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\"Whatever happened to the Word of the Lord that came\r\nto you -- that Word, 'sell all thou hast'?\u00a0 You're trading monetary prosperity\r\nin place of the totality of the prosperity God wants His people to manifest.\u00a0\r\nYou're selling a cheap, temporary fix to someone's ailments using a methodology\r\nthat provides a false hope for healing.\u00a0 You've become wrapped up in the\r\nfun of having lots of money without the love, the faith, and the genuine power\r\nof God to both gain and use that money to further God's Kingdom.\"<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

I tried to be gentle in the way I expressed myself, but\r\nthere was the power and authority of the presence of the Lord in my speech.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

FYI, the products DD was selling were<\/span>\r\nbased on \"magnetic therapy.\"\u00a0 With my background in science,\r\nengineering, research and development with NASA, I'd worked with magnetic\r\nfields and electro-magnetic fields and knew the science pretty thoroughly.\u00a0\r\nMy comments to DD, therefore, had more than just spiritual impact: they came\r\nfrom a scientific perspective as well.\u00a0 I<\/span> don't\r\nwant to get into a scientific treatise on magnets or \"magnet therapy\"\r\nin this Coffee Break since that's not what this discussion is about.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Suffice it to say that David Dorsett packed his goods up\r\nand left the ranch in a rage.\u00a0 Michael and I had never compared notes and\r\ndidn't discuss DD's \"health business\" until some years later, but DD\r\napproached him sometime after he left the ranch and pretty much got the same\r\nexact message from Michael that I'd given him.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

He wouldn't hear it.\u00a0 Though I knew he left us in\r\nanger, I made several attempts to communicate with him in the hopes that he\r\nwould hear the quiet plea of the Holy Spirit.\u00a0 They fell on deaf ears.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

In the years that followed, I came across a medical doctor\r\nin Houston who had been in the U.S. for more than thirty years, having moved\r\nhere from China.\u00a0 When asked about \"magnet therapy\" he grew very\r\nsober and said, \"You must warn people away from it!\u00a0 We know it in\r\nChina as a hoax.\u00a0 This is where all of this business about \"magnet\r\ntherapy\" originated.\u00a0 I've spent many years researching the long-term\r\neffects on people who've used magnets and in most of the cases, long-term\r\nexposure results in severe physical problems, unwanted and undesired\r\nside-effects, and in some cases even death.\"<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

DD himself believed the lie and used the\r\n\"therapy\" to deal with his own aches and pains.\u00a0 Today he is in\r\nserious physical condition.\u00a0 His \"prosperity\" was short-lived.\u00a0\r\nWithin a matter of three to five years, the business had folded under him, he\r\nwas broke, in debt, crippled in more ways than one and facing the complaints\r\nand claims of many former business associates and customers for whom the\r\nhundreds and thousands of dollars spent on this \"wonderful and therapeutic\r\nhealth\" business had gone sour.\u00a0 Worse, he has absolutely shut the\r\ndoor to any counsel from his brothers and sisters in the Lord -- counsel, that\r\nis, that is contrary to his own reasoning processes.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

To add insult to injury, he was having<\/span>\r\nto live with his own children who would scarcely speak to him because of the\r\nbitterness and continual anger he erupted with.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The tragedy is that none of this was necessary.\u00a0 Had<\/span> he received the Word of the Lord and \"sold\"\r\nhis reasoning and thought processes, and instead received revelation the Lord\r\nwanted to give him, how different would his life have been.\u00a0 The Kingdom\r\nof God does have true prosperity, but that prosperity is a whole lot more than\r\nmoney.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

There is a principle of Kingdom Economics that I want you\r\nto see in this picture of David Dorsett.\u00a0 We've<\/span>\r\nalready touched on this principle in previous Coffee Breaks, but let's see if\r\nwe can explore it in a little more depth.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Consider Adam and Eve in the Garden.\u00a0 Go<\/span> to Genesis Chapter 1, beginning in verse 26.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\"And God said, Let us make man\r\nin our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of\r\nthe sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the\r\nearth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth<\/span>\r\nupon the earth.\"<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The very first thing about our creation was that we were\r\nmade in the image and likeness of God.\u00a0 The two Hebrew words used to\r\ndescribe our creation in Genesis 1:26 are<\/span> <\/span>tselem<\/span><\/span>, and<\/span> <\/span>d<\/span>e<\/span>muth<\/span><\/span>: an\r\nexact image or copy, a duplicate in appearance, function and character.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Thus Adam was a duplicate of God in his appearance, his manner,\r\nhis makeup and function.\u00a0 For clarification's sake, the fact that he was a\r\ncopy meant he wasn't the original, and therefore couldn't supersede the\r\noriginal.\u00a0 Nevertheless, he functioned just like God, and God gave him the\r\nsame creative power and authority of speech that He had and was.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Adam, being in the likeness and image of God, was given\r\ndominion and authority over every living creature -- and I emphasize that word,\r\n\"creature\" -- upon the earth.\u00a0 (I'm getting ahead of myself,\r\nhere, but Adam was NOT given dominion over other men because they would also be\r\nin the likeness and image of God.)\u00a0 He was also given dominion over the earth\r\nitself.\u00a0 He<\/span> was the ruler of the earth.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Some folks react to that statement with, \"Big deal!\u00a0\r\nThere was nothing to rule,\" but that's not true.\u00a0 Adam had an\r\nassignment from God.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\"So God created man in his own\r\nimage, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.\u00a0\r\nAnd God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be<\/u><\/span>\r\nfruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have\r\ndominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every\r\nliving thing that moveth<\/span> upon the earth<\/u>.\u00a0\r\nAnd God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon\r\nthe face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree\r\nyielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.\u00a0 And to every beast of the earth,\r\nand to every fowl of the air, and to every thing<\/span> that\r\ncreepeth<\/span> upon the earth, wherein there is life, I\r\nhave given every green herb for meat: and it was so.\u00a0 And God saw every\r\nthing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the\r\nmorning were the sixth day.\"<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

You see the assignment, don't you?\u00a0 \"Be\r\nfruitful, and multiply (that is a declaration of blessing on Adam -- the\r\nempowerment by God to fulfill the assignment), and replenish (this word in the\r\nHebrew text is<\/span>\r\n<\/span>ma\u00e2<\/span><\/i><\/span>\u20ac\u2122la\u00e2<\/span>\u20ac\u2122<\/span><\/i>) the earth, and subdue it.\"\u00a0 The Hebrew<\/span> <\/span>ma\u00e2<\/span><\/i><\/span>\u20ac\u2122la\u00e2<\/span>\u20ac\u2122<\/span><\/i> <\/span>is an active verb which literally means to<\/span> <\/span>\"fill up, to make full, to complete that which has\r\nalready begun.\"<\/span><\/u>\u00a0 The Hebrew grammarian and\r\nscholar, Dr. William Gesenius<\/span>, in his Hebrew-Chaldee<\/span> Lexicon tells us that this word comes from an\r\noriginal Hebrew idea for<\/span>\r\n<\/span>abundance, overflow, excess so that\r\nthere is no room for anything more<\/span><\/u>.\u00a0\r\nThis is the same word for \"intoxicate\" -- to fill to excess.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Thus Adam's assignment from God was to duplicate and\r\nexpand the Garden of Eden until it literally filled the entire earth to\r\noverflow.\u00a0 It is a picture of God Himself.\u00c2<\/span>\u00a0 Everything<\/span> about the Lord manifests abundance,\r\noverflow, fullness to excess, completeness.\u00a0 It is how He created Adam,\r\nand what He intended for Adam to accomplish with the earth.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Let me digress for a second to quote to you from something\r\nJesus said (see John 10:10b):<\/span> <\/span>\"I am come\r\nthat they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.\"<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

When you read this from the Amplified text, it spells out\r\nthe very same picture we have in Genesis 1:28.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\"I came that they may have and\r\nenjoy life, and have it in abundance, to the full, till it overflows.\"<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Right!<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Life, therefore, under God's dominion incorporates abundance,\r\neverything in abundance to the full until it overflows.\u00a0 Adam<\/span> had an assignment from God: duplicate that abundance in\r\nthe earth.\u00a0 In exchange, he would want for nothing.\u00a0 Life -- for Adam\r\nand Eve -- would be a life of abundance, a life without need of any kind, a\r\nlife without sickness, without disease, without infirmity, without any threat\r\nof death at some point in the future.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Adam's assignment also included \"subduing the\r\nearth.\"\u00a0 That word, subdue, in Hebrew is the word \"<\/span>ka\u00cc\u201abash<\/span><\/i><\/span>\".\u00a0 We<\/span> have a rather\r\nhumorous word in English colloquial usage which actually comes from this Hebrew\r\nword.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

When we say that we will put \"the kibosh on\"\r\nsomething, or someone, we are actually using the Hebrew term which means to<\/span> <\/span>subdue, to put under, to exercise force upon, to bring\r\nunder subjection.<\/span><\/u><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The earth was under Adam's dominion.\u00a0 He<\/span> was its supreme ruler.\u00a0 For something on the order (once\r\nagain, this is my considered opinion based on several statements in Scripture,\r\nbut I can't prove this definitively<\/i>) of 2,000 years prior to the fall, Adam\r\nwas second only to the Lord Himself.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

David put it this way in the Psalms (115:16),<\/span> <\/span>\"The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD: but the\r\nearth hath he given to the children of men.\"<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Adam had another assignment as well from the Lord.\u00a0\r\nGenesis 2:19-20 tells us,<\/span>\r\n<\/span>\"And out of the ground the LORD\r\nGod formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought\r\nthem unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every\r\nliving creature, that was the name thereof.\u00a0 And Adam gave names to all\r\ncattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field...\"<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

A funny thing happened on the way to Adam's lordship and rulership<\/span> over the earth.\u00a0 He gave it away.\u00a0 When\r\nEve succumbed to the serpent's trickery and deception, and Adam went along with\r\nit instead of exercising his place of dominion over the serpent (and the\r\nserpent WAS under his dominion as a beast of the field, never mind the fact\r\nthat Satan had entered the serpent) he violated the only commandment God had\r\ngiven them,<\/span>\r\n<\/span>\"But of the tree of the\r\nknowledge of good and evil, thou shalt<\/span> not eat of it:\r\nfor in the day that thou eatest<\/span> thereof thou shalt<\/span> surely die.\"<\/span><\/i><\/b>\u00a0 (<\/span>Genesis 2:25<\/st1:time>)<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

That tree was -- for all intents and purposes -- the tithe\r\nof the Garden.\u00a0 It was the holy portion.\u00a0 It was restricted\r\nterritory.\u00a0 It wasn't like God was withholding something from Adam and\r\nEve: they had everything they could possibly desire.\u00a0 They<\/span>\r\nlacked for nothing.\u00a0 They had complete dominion.\u00a0 Whatever knowledge\r\nthey needed came by direct revelation in the place of communion they had with\r\nthe Lord.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Nevertheless, the partaking of the fruit of the Tree of\r\nthe Knowledge of Good and Evil deprived them of their place of fellowship and\r\ncommunion with the Lord.\u00a0 It also deprived them of His provision for their\r\nevery conceivable need.\u00a0 The yielding of authority and dominion over the\r\nearth to Satan brought a curse upon the earth: a curse that meant they now had\r\nto work for a living.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

From that day to this, man's entire priority and focus has\r\nbeen on how to provide for himself<\/span>.\u00a0 Man's\r\nprimary objective has been to have enough food to survive, enough clothing to\r\nstay warm, a<\/span> place of shelter in which to live.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Let's bring it to the present.\u00a0 Society's focus today\r\nis how to get enough money to pay the bills, make the car payment, pay the\r\nhouse mortgage, keep up with one's credit card payments, pay the utility bills,\r\nbuy gasoline, etc., etc., etc., ad infinitum.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

That's a curse, folks!\u00a0 But it isn't a curse that\r\nexists in the Kingdom of God.\u00a0 And there's where contemporary society and\r\nthe Kingdom of God are so different from each other.\u00a0 We're running long\r\ntoday, so let's pick it up at this point in our next Coffee Break.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Kingdom Economics is a system under which we return to the\r\npriorities of life established by God in the Garden.\u00a0 Our assignment from\r\nGod is our<\/u> priority.\u00a0 Our provision is His<\/u> priority.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The Blessing of the Lord be<\/span> upon\r\nyou.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n
