ANOTHER COFFEE BREAK: KINGDOM ECONOMICS XII<\/h2><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Good Morning.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

WHAAATT a GOOOOOOODDDD week!<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Uhhhh<\/span><\/b><\/span>, Huhhh<\/span>!\u00a0 Della and I decided\r\nthat we needed to just get away for awhile this week and be alone with the\r\nLord.\u00a0 You know how it is sometimes.\u00a0 Your schedule becomes so busy\r\nthat you lose your priorities -- and in my case, I just wasn't getting my\r\n\"alone time\" with the Lord.<\/span>\u00a0 It's<\/span> these times when it is just you and the Lord --\r\nno interruptions allowed.\u00a0 Della, too.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

In the past, we've generally done our \"alone\r\ntime\" individually, but this time we decided to do it together.\u00a0\r\nWe've had some situations that needed a resolution and a specific answer from\r\nthe Lord, and just wanted to be able to agree together concerning them.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

There's another really good reason for these getaways with\r\nthe Lord -- and this is something I've learned and experienced every single\r\ntime I've done this during the past 40-odd years: the Lord pours out revelation\r\nfrom His Word in a phenomenal way!<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

I was just thinking about some of the revelations the Lord\r\nhas given me during these periods.\u00a0 The revelation of\r\nDavid's Tabernacle -- for instance -- and the impact that 24-hour praise and\r\nworship has upon the life of that nation and people who institute it.<\/span>\u00a0\r\nThat's<\/span> just one of the revelations.\u00a0 Another one\r\nwas the picture of the three families of fear that Satan uses to torment\r\npeople; the specific ways and tactics in which these fears are used to tear\r\ndown people and destroy them, and the deliverance that Jesus Christ has\r\nprovided for His people from all fear.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Then there was the revelation of the correlation between\r\nthe seven nations that Israel was commanded to drive out of Canaan and\r\ndemolish, and the seven letters to the seven Ekklesias<\/span>\r\n(churches) in Revelation 2 & 3: how Israel attempted to conquer the seven\r\nnations and failed because of compromise and intermingling of religions whose\r\ngods (demons, really) stood in opposition to God Almighty; and how we as believers\r\nin Christ have been empowered through and by the Holy Spirit to conquer those\r\nsame master spirits that ruled each of the seven nations.\u00a0 Those seven\r\nmaster spirits are revealed in the seven letters.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

On and on it goes.\u00a0 Every<\/span>\r\nmajor revelation the Lord has given me has come during one of these periods\r\nwhen I've left everything and gotten away to be with the Lord.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

This week has been no exception.\u00a0 While I wasn't\r\nparticularly asking the Lord for more revelation concerning Kingdom Economics,\r\nhe sure unloaded it on me during the past few days.\u00a0 I'm not sure how much\r\nof it I will share in this series because some of it is still jelling in my\r\nspirit, but I'll take you on as much of a continuing journey as the Holy Spirit\r\nindicates.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

I ended our last Coffee Break with the statement that we\r\nare called to the Lord Jesus Christ.\u00a0 We are a people designed and\r\ndestined to show the world God's authority, His power, His grace, His love, His\r\nmight -- His very<\/span> <\/span>onoma<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span> <\/span>!<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

We are designed and destined to be Jesus' counterpart, His\r\nother self: a people whose life and lifestyle show something to the world that\r\ncauses people to want what we have, want to be who we are and desire the love\r\nand grace we manifest.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

That takes me to Romans 13.\u00a0 I'd<\/span>\r\nlike to unfold for you an amplified text of this chapter as I have translated\r\nit from the original Greek text.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

All nations and kingdoms have laws, constitutions of one\r\nsort or another, and designated authorities to whom the people answer and\r\nrespond in order to live in a peaceful and orderly manner with one another.\u00a0\r\nThe<\/span> Kingdom of God is no different.\u00a0 The economy\r\nof God's Kingdom -- as already noted -- works only by love; and that love is\r\nthe very antithesis of what the world at large sees and calls \"love.\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Let's have a look, then, at how Christians are instructed\r\nto operate as aliens or foreigners -- agents and representatives of God's\r\nKingdom -- in the nations and kingdoms of this world.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Romans 13<\/span><\/u>.<\/span><\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Verse 1:<\/span><\/b> <\/span>\"Let every soul submit and stand under (and be arranged\r\nunder in orderly fashion) superior authorities.\u00a0 For<\/span>\r\nthere is no authority that exists except of God: all authorities that be are\r\narranged and set in their places by God.\"<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The first phrase of this verse uses an interesting\r\nmilitary term in the Greek text:<\/span> <\/span>hupotasso<\/span><\/i><\/span>.\u00a0 Literally\r\ntranslated, this word means: to stand under<\/u>; but in a practical sense is\r\nused to depict the arrangement of soldiers according to company, rank, purpose\r\nand designation.\u00a0 The arrangement is that of soldiers who are at\r\nattention, awaiting the commands of their superior officers.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Thus the Word of the Lord is for us to be subject to,\r\nsubmitted to, and responsive to every authority -- whether local, state\r\n(province or borough), regional, or national.\u00a0 He<\/span>\r\ngoes on to say that every authority that exists (God doesn't distinguish\r\nbetween spiritual and secular leaders: He has ordained and set in order the\r\nmeans by which these leaders are appointed or put in office or their place of\r\nauthority) is there by His operation and choosing.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

That means even those leaders we may consider to be\r\n\"bad\" or \"corrupt\" are still there by his command.\u00a0 Consider<\/span> Isaiah's prophecy concerning Jesus:<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Isaiah 9:6-7: \"For unto us a child is born, unto us a\r\nson is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder<\/u>: and his\r\nname shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor<\/span>, The\r\nmighty God, The everlasting Father, The<\/span> Prince of\r\nPeace.\u00a0 Of the increase of his<\/i> government and peace there shall\r\nbe<\/i> no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and\r\nto establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever.\r\nThe zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The Hebrew word translated here \"government\" is\r\nthe word:<\/span> \r\n\u05de\u05de\u05e9\u05dc\u05d4<\/font><\/span>-- misrah<\/span><\/span>:<\/span> <\/span>which means empire(s),\r\ndominion(s)<\/u>.\u00a0 Isaiah thus makes clear that <\/span>ALL<\/span><\/st1:stockticker> government\r\nrests on the shoulder of the Lord Jesus Christ.\u00a0 We'll come back to this\r\nconcept a bit later in this series.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Verse 2<\/span><\/b> <\/span>of Romans 13, therefore, follows\r\nlogically:<\/span> <\/span>\"Wherefore, and as a direct\r\nconsequence thereof, whoever contends with and stands against that authority,\r\ncontends with and stands against God: and they who contend with and stand in\r\nopposition to God shall take and bring upon themselves His decree of judgment\r\nand sentence.\"<\/span><\/i><\/b> <\/span>(And we could\r\nadd<\/span> <\/span>[for treason]<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

(And we could add<\/span> [for treason]<\/span><\/i><\/b>.)<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Unrighteous\r\nand ignorant people (many of whom are professing Christians) in today's\r\nsocieties seem to think nothing of lambasting, accusing, standing against and\r\nspeaking evil of \"authorities\" including Presidents, Prime Ministers,\r\nGovernors, officers of the Law, etc., etc., etc.\u00a0 They justify themselves\r\nbecause the \"President (or Prime Minister, or whoever) is acting criminally\"\r\naccording to their judgment.\u00a0 They don't seem to recognize that their\r\njudgment doesn't count for squat where God is concerned.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

There is\r\n-- or at least has been -- a dearth of understanding in the body of Christ at\r\nlarge concerning the responsibility to pray for<\/span> <\/span>\"all men, for kings, and for all that are in authority;\r\nthat we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all Godliness and honesty.\"<\/span><\/i><\/b>\u00a0<\/span> <\/span>(See I Timothy 2:2)\u00a0 For some reason it has\r\nbecome OK to speak evil of those in authority, and if one instructs the accuser\r\nor slanderer to pray for his or her leaders, well......you just don't know\r\nhow evil they really are!<\/i> -- as<\/span> if that statement\r\nsomehow supersedes and invalidates God's command to pray for them.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

(Incidentally,\r\nin the past few years, there has been a remarkable and divinely-inspired\r\nmovement world-wide to pray for leaders of governments of every nation.\u00a0 Della<\/span> and I are looking forward to participating first-hand\r\nin the national day of prayer for <\/span>Israel<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region> in <\/span>Jerusalem<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:City> on the 60th\r\nanniversary of <\/span>Israel<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region>'s reemergence as a\r\nnation next May.)<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Verse 3<\/span><\/b>\r\nof Romans 13\r\ncontinues with Paul's instruction by the Holy Spirit:<\/span> \"For rulers,\r\nmagistrates, governors, presidents and princes are not the source of fright and\r\nterror to good and beneficial works and endeavors, but to those that are worthless,\r\ndepraved and injurious.\u00a0 Do you therefore desire to be free from the\r\nterror and fear of authority?\u00a0Do that which is beneficial, good, excelling\r\nin any respect and distinguished, and you will have praise and recognition for\r\nit.\"<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Pretty\r\nself-explanatory, wouldn't you say?\u00a0 The reason why so many folks get\r\nupset with leaders is that their own lifestyle is at odds with the standards\r\nset by constitutional law or mandate, and they want to live in a way that may\r\nbe -- in some respects -- worthless, depraved, or injurious to others or to\r\nsociety at large.\u00a0 That's not always true in every case, of course, but\r\nmost opposition to leadership comes from those who think they know how things\r\nought to be run -- never mind what God has to say about it!<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Verse 4<\/span><\/b>:<\/span> \"Authority,\r\ntherefore, is the servant of God to you for good.<\/span> But<\/span>, if you do that which is noisome, wicked,\r\ndepraved, injurious and intrinsically worthless, be afraid and live in terror,\r\nfor [Gods] authority does not wear a sword or carry a weapon idly and without\r\nreason: for that authority is the servant of God, a punisher and revenger<\/span> who executes Gods abhorrence and violent passion\r\nupon they who repeatedly and habitually commit wickedness, depravity and\r\ninjurious acts.\"<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\ninstruction that follows in verse 5 clarifies where God is taking this.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Verse 5<\/span><\/b>:<\/span> \"As a\r\nconsequence thereof, you must \u201c of necessity \u201c subordinate and arrange yourself\r\nin proper order, in submission, not merely because of the threat of Gods\r\nabhorrence and executed judgment but specifically for the sake of moral\r\nconsciousness, conscience, [and spiritual perception].\"<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Get the\r\npicture?\u00a0 Our submission and subjection to authorities here on earth is\r\nnot because we think they're doing such a great job as leaders but rather\r\nbecause we are doing so out of spiritual perception, revelation and an\r\nunderstanding that God's purposes are being worked in the earth for a goal and\r\nobjective that may not be readily obvious to many.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Paul also\r\nmakes clear in Verse 4 that God isn't somehow waiting for folks to screw things\r\nup so he can come down on them like \"ugly on an ape.\"\u00a0 Instead,\r\nthose who execute God's judgment do so upon those who repeatedly and habitually\r\n-- without conscience -- \"commit wickedness, depravity and injurious\r\nacts.\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Now he\r\nreally gets specific in his detailing of \"those in authority.\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Verse 6<\/span><\/b>:<\/span> \"For this very\r\nreason execute and discharge your tax responsibility also: for they [those who\r\ncollect taxes and public fees and charges] are likewise Gods servants,\r\nearnestly persevering and being constantly diligent in their assigned\r\nservice.\"<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Ouch!<\/span><\/span><\/span>\u00a0 The <\/span>IRS<\/span><\/st1:stockticker>?\u00a0 The tax\r\ncollector is the servant of God?<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Hey, I\r\ndidn't make this up!\u00a0 This is God's Word!<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Discharging\r\nour responsibility to pay taxes here on earth is nothing more than empowering\r\nthe blessing of the Lord in our lives to make provision for this added burden\r\nupon our income.\u00a0 Let's<\/span> look at one more verse in\r\nthis chapter, and then I'll show you a principle of Kingdom Economics.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Verse 7<\/span><\/b>:<\/span> \"Give back and\r\nrender therefore to every one [of Gods authorities] that which is due them:\r\ntaxes and tolls to those to whom it is due; levies and legal limits to the\r\nrepresentatives of the government and its laws; respect and reverence [to those\r\nto whose position so requires]; esteem and honor to all in authority.\"<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Remember\r\nwhen Peter talked to Jesus about paying taxes?\u00a0 Take a look at Matthew\r\n17:24-27 (KJV).<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\"And\r\nwhen they were come to <\/span><\/i><\/b>Capernaum<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/st1:place><\/st1:City>, they that\r\nreceived tribute money<\/span><\/i><\/b> (that's taxes, folks!)<\/span> came<\/span>\r\nto Peter, and said, Doth not your master pay tribute?\u00a0 He saith<\/span>, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus\r\nprevented him, saying, What<\/span> thinkest<\/span>\r\nthou, Simon? of<\/span> whom do the kings of the earth take\r\ncustom or tribute? of<\/span> their own children, or of\r\nstrangers?\u00a0 Peter saith<\/span> unto him, Of strangers.\r\nJesus saith<\/span> unto him, Then<\/span>\r\nare the children free.\u00a0 Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go\r\nthou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up;\r\nand when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt<\/span> find\r\na piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.\"<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Here's the\r\nprinciple that Jesus is dealing with.\u00a0 As citizens of the <\/span>Kingdom<\/span><\/st1:PlaceType> of <\/span>God<\/span><\/st1:PlaceName><\/st1:place>, we are children\r\nof God.\u00a0 That makes us sons of God; and as sons of God we are heirs and\r\njoint-heirs with Jesus Christ.\u00a0 That means that we are part of the ruling\r\nfamily in all the earth's affairs.\u00a0 From a strictly legal and forensic\r\nstandpoint, no government on earth has the power or right to tax us.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Jesus,\r\nhowever, couldn't care less about the rights or authority of governments to\r\ncollect taxes from us.\u00a0 It didn't matter!\u00a0 The tax money the government\r\ncollects from us has no bearing on our bank account, our liquid resources on\r\nhand (cash, etc.), or our ability to continue in our assignment(s) from Him\r\nwithout being shortchanged.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

To prove\r\nit, he instructed Peter to go and do what he normally did: fish!\u00a0\r\nSupernatural -- ummmm<\/span>, make that \"supernaturally\r\nnatural\" -- provision to pay the tax obligation came forth immediately.\u00a0\r\nThe very first fish that was caught had enough money (value-wise) in his mouth\r\nto pay both Peter's and Jesus' tax bills.\u00a0 Peter didn't have to sweat it!\u00a0\r\nHe didn't even have to wait for the tax-collector to come around.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Jesus made\r\nsuch provision that Peter was able to go and pay their taxes even before they\r\nwere told what the tax bill would be.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

That, my\r\nfriends, is a principle of Kingdom Economics.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

As heirs\r\nof God's Kingdom and joint-heirs with Jesus Christ, we are entitled to operate\r\nfreely within and free from<\/i> the economies of this world.\u00a0 THAT<\/span> is a fundamental right and privilege accorded to EVERY\r\nbeliever.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The catch,\r\nif we can call it that, is that we have to utterly believe in and trust God's\r\nWord.\u00a0 It's<\/span> even more than trusting God's Word:\r\nit amounts to trusting HIM, loving HIM, knowing that He as our Father wants and\r\ndesires to do extravagantly for us to demonstrate to all a life and lifestyle\r\navailable in Him that knows no bounds.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The right\r\nand privilege to have our needs met goes well beyond the simple paying of\r\nearthly taxes, however.\u00a0 Remember<\/span> the principle\r\noutlined in Matthew 6:30-33?<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\"Wherefore,\r\nif God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast\r\ninto the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?\u00a0\r\nTherefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or<\/span>,\r\nWhat shall we drink? or<\/span>, Wherewithal shall we be\r\nclothed?\u00a0 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:<\/span>)\r\nfor your heavenly Father knoweth<\/span> that ye have need of\r\nall these things.\u00a0 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his\r\nrighteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.\"<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Understand?<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

This is\r\nHis covenant with us!\u00a0 He absolutely promises to meet every single need -\r\nno matter what that need may be -- so long as we put Him and His priorities for\r\nour life ahead of our concerns for living in this world.\u00a0 His provision\r\nfor us -- though it may come in the currency of this world so that we can spend\r\nit to meet the needs in this world -- comes from the treasuries in Heaven.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

This is\r\nprecisely why Jesus had just said,<\/span> <\/span>\"Lay not up\r\nfor yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where\r\nthieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven,\r\nwhere neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break\r\nthrough nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be\r\nalso.\"<\/span><\/i><\/b>\u00a0<\/span> <\/span>(<\/span><\/span>Matthew <\/span>6:19<\/span><\/st1:time>-21 KJV)<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

By putting\r\nJesus first in every aspect of our lives, He becomes the focus, the priority,\r\nthe objective and purpose of our desire.\u00a0 Our desire becomes His desire.\u00a0\r\nWhen that becomes the case, our entire daily life becomes a function of laying\r\nup treasure in Heaven's treasuries -- and that treasure has an exchange value\r\nin earth's currencies far beyond any exchange rate you can imagine.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

We'll\r\ncontinue this next week.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

In the <\/span><\/i>Kingdom<\/span><\/i><\/st1:PlaceType> of <\/span><\/i>God<\/span><\/i><\/st1:PlaceName><\/st1:place>, what the world\r\ncalls \"miracles\" are only the natural manifestation of God's power,\r\nHis love and His grace working in and through His people.<\/span><\/i><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nBlessing of the Lord be<\/span> upon you.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n
