ANOTHER COFFEE BREAK: SUPERNATURAL MATURITY, Part 2<\/h2><\/div><\/div><\/div>

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

To repeat what we started with last week in this series, we are\r\ntalking about the personality, the makeup, the very essence of the Lord Jesus\r\nChrist. Jesus -- as the Son of God -- was naturally supernatural, and\r\nsupernaturally natural. I know that sounds a bit clich\u00e9d, but he was the\r\n\"natural\" Son of God. By the world's standards -- make that the\r\nsub-normal state to which mankind had sunk because of sin -- Jesus was\r\nabsolutely \"out of this world!\" Except for the rare instances in\r\nIsrael's history to which the scribes and Pharisees could point in the lives of\r\nElijah and Elisha when people were raised from the dead and other miracles had\r\noccurred, no one had ever seen the kind of display evidenced in someone who was\r\nso clearly manifesting God's nature.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

What Jesus did, what He showed to the people, and what He\r\ntaught, was a kind of lifestyle absolutely foreign to sub-natural human\r\nthinking. But Jesus was out to restore the God-man relationship and to recreate\r\nthe conditions under which men and women could once again live and breathe in\r\ntoday's world in the likeness and image of God. He was out to restore the\r\noriginal purposes of Father to have a family of beings who were just like Him,\r\na family with whom He could fellowship and share on His level!<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Jesus, therefore, was purposed in His sharing to reveal to those\r\nwho would follow Him in a disciplined way just what it would take for them to\r\nmature supernaturally, and to become once again a race of supernatural beings\r\nin the earth.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

We\r\nhave \u2014 in previous studies \u2014 noted that once we are \u201cin Christ\u201d and He is in\r\nus, we are transitioning to becoming\u00a0<\/span>\u201cKings and Priests unto\r\nour God.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0John\r\nput it like this when writing down the Revelation:<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Revelation 1:5b-6<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0<\/span>Unto\r\nhim that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,\u00a0And\r\nhath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father<\/u>; to him\u00a0be<\/i>\u00a0glory\r\nand dominion forever and ever. Amen.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Farther\r\nalong in this same Word, he writes again:<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Revelation 5:9-10<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0<\/span>And\r\nthey sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the\r\nseals thereof: for thou wast<\/span> slain, and hast redeemed\r\nus to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and\r\nnation;\u00a0And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall\r\nreign on the earth<\/u>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Am\r\nI clear on this? Do you now see what it means when Jesus says, \u201cFor theirs is\r\nthe Kingdom of Heaven\u201d? None of this, of course, is instantaneous; this is the\r\nnature and character and personality of the Lord Jesus Christ being worked in\r\nus through a step=by-step process in which we respond to Holy Spirit at every\r\nstep.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Consider\r\nthe very next statement that Jesus makes in the \u201cSermon on the Mount,\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Matthew 5:4<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0<\/span>Blessed\r\nand enviably happy (with a happiness produced by the experience of God\u2019s favor\r\nand especially conditioned by the revelation of His matchless grace) are those\r\nwho mourn [grieve and bewail their spiritual lack] for they shall with absolute\r\ncertainty be comforted by and experience the Paraklete<\/span>,\r\nwho is Holy Spirit.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/b>(Amplified Bible with\r\nmy additions)<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Let\r\nme digress here to tell you an old short story that will illustrate exactly\r\nwhat Jesus is saying. This short story is titled:\u00a0THE PEARL NECKLACE.<\/b><\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\ncheerful little girl with bouncy golden curls was almost five. Waiting with her\r\nmother at the checkout stand, she saw them, a circle of glistening white pearls\r\nin a pink foil box.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\"Oh\r\nmommy please, Mommy. Can I have them? Please, Mommy, please?\" Quickly the\r\nmother checked the back of the little foil box and then looked back into the\r\npleading blue eyes of her little girl's upturned face.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

\"A\r\ndollar ninety-five. That's almost $2.00. If you really want them, I'll think of\r\nsome extra chores for you and in no time you can save enough money to buy them\r\nfor yourself.. Your birthday's only a week away and you might get another crisp\r\ndollar bill from Grandma.\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

As\r\nsoon as Jenny got home, she emptied her penny bank and counted out 17 pennies.\r\nAfter dinner, she did more than her share of chores and she went to the neighbor\r\nand asked Mrs. McJames<\/span> if she could pick dandelions\r\nfor ten cents. On her birthday, Grandma did give her another new dollar bill\r\nand at last she had enough money to buy the necklace.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Jenny\r\nloved her pearls. They made her feel dressed up and grown up. She wore
\r\nthem everywhere, Sunday school, kindergarten, even to bed. The only time she\r\ntook them off was when she went swimming or had a bubble bath. Mother said if\r\nthey got wet, they might turn her neck green.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Jenny\r\nhad a very loving daddy and every night when she was ready for bed, he would\r\nstop whatever he was doing and come upstairs to read her a story. One night as\r\nhe finished the story, he asked Jenny, \"Do you love me?\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

\"Oh\r\nyes, daddy. You know that I love you.\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

\"Then\r\ngive me your pearls.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

\"Oh,\r\ndaddy, not my pearls. But you can have Princess, the white horse from my\r\ncollection, the one with the pink tail. Remember, daddy? The one you gave me.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

She's\r\n my very favorite.\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

\"That's\r\nokay, Honey, daddy loves you. Good night.\" And he brushed her cheek with a\r\nkiss.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

About\r\na week later, after the story time, Jenny's daddy asked again, \"Do you\r\nlove me?\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

\"Daddy,\r\nyou know I love you.\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

\"Then\r\ngive me your pearls.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

\"Oh\r\nDaddy, not my pearls. But you can have my baby doll. The brand new one I got\r\nfor my birthday. She is beautiful and you can have the yellow blanket that\r\nmatches her sleeper.\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

\"That's\r\nokay. Sleep well. God bless you, little one.. Daddy loves you.\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

And\r\nas always, he brushed her cheek with a gentle kiss. A few nights later when her\r\ndaddy came in, Jenny was sitting on her bed with her legs crossed Indian style.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

As\r\nhe came close, he noticed her chin was trembling and one silent tear rolled\r\ndown her cheek.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\"What\r\nis it, Jenny? What's the matter?\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Jenny\r\ndidn't say anything but lifted her little hand up to her daddy. And when she\r\nopened it, there was her little pearl necklace. With a little quiver, she\r\nfinally said, \"Here daddy, this is for you.\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

With\r\ntears gathering in his own eyes, Jenny's daddy reached out with one hand to\r\ntake the dime store necklace, and with the other hand he reached into his\r\npocket and pulled out a blue velvet case with a strand of genuine pearls and\r\ngave them to Jenny.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

He\r\nhad them all the time. He was just waiting for her to give up the dime-store\r\nstuff so he could give her the genuine treasure.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

So\r\nit is, with Holy Spirit. He is waiting for us to give up the cheap things in\r\nour lives \u2014 those things we grasp so tightly in our mourning \u2014 so that he can\r\ngive us treasures beyond the scope of our imagination.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nGreek word translated \u201cmourn\u201d in Matthew 5:4, is the word,\u00a0pentheo<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>.\r\nWhile the literal translation means:\u00a0<\/span>to grieve, to bewail, to mourn (whether an act or a feeling<\/span>), it comes from a\r\nroot word,\u00a0penes<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>,\r\nwhich means:\u00a0<\/span>to be in poverty, to\r\nscratch for a living working at menial tasks<\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Human\r\nnature is to grasp at straws, to cling to the things we have on hand, even\r\nthough we are not really growing or prospering \u2014 spiritually, physically, or\r\nmaterially. Holy Spirit, as The Paraklete<\/span>, is here to\r\ncomfort us. The word, Paraklete<\/span>, comes from the\r\nGreek,\u00a0parakaleo<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>\u00a0\u2014\r\na contraction of\u00a0para<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0kaleo<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>, which\r\nmean:\u00a0<\/span>alongside<\/span>, and\u00a0<\/span>to call.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nconcept of \u201ccalling alongside\u201d is that of a comforter, one who comes alongside\r\nto encourage, to call us up to a higher level, to lift us from the doldrums and\r\nsubstandard of living that results from eating of the Tree of the Knowledge of\r\nGood and Evil.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Do\r\nyou remember what Jesus said of the Paraklete<\/span>?<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

John\r\n14:15-17<\/span><\/u>:\u00a0<\/span>If ye love me, keep my commandments.\u00a0And I will pray the\r\nFather, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you\r\nforever;\u00a0Even<\/i>\u00a0the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot\r\nreceive, because it seeth<\/span> him not, neither knoweth<\/span> him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth<\/span>\r\nwith you, and shall be in you.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Those\r\nwho \u201cmourn\u201d (to use the KJV translation) are not living in or with the truth. I\r\nknow this discussion on mourning is one we could really take down a rabbit\r\ntrail, but the emphasis that Jesus is making is that if we live IN HIM, and He\r\nlives IN US, we will have access to the sixth of the Seven Spirits of God \u2014 the\r\nSpirit of Truth \u2014 as our guide, our governor, our teacher and our comforter, no\r\nmatter what our physical circumstances may be. Mourning will be a thing of the\r\npast.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Mourning\r\nis something that those people in the world have with them continually. The\r\nworld is devoid of The Truth. As Jesus states,\u00a0<\/span>\u201cthe world cannot receive [Him] because it doesn\u2019t see Him and\r\ndoesn\u2019t know Him.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Thus,\r\nfor those who lay aside their rational, reasoning,\r\nTree-of-the-Knowledge-of-Good-and-Evil mindset and surrender their lives to\r\nJesus Christ without clinging to or hanging onto things that comfort them\r\nbecause of their familiarity will see the Truth, receive the Truth, and know\r\nthe Truth.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Now,\r\nin the space remaining, let\u2019s see what we can do with the third of Jesus\u2019\r\nopening statements as He preaches from the mountain.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Matthew 5:5<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0<\/span>Blessed\r\nare the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Let\r\nme see what I can do with amplifying this from the Greek text.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Matthew 5:5<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0<\/span>Blessed\u00a0and<\/i>\u00a0enviably\r\nhappy [with a happiness produced by the experience of God\u2019s favor] are those\r\nwho know and walk in Kingdom authority, keeping that authority and power under\r\ncontrol, for they shall become heirs to the earth.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/b>(RAC Translation and Amplification)<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nGreek word for \u201cmeek\u201d is the word\u00a0praus<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>. This is a word which J.H.\r\nThayer translates:\u00a0<\/span>mildness of\r\ndisposition, gentleness of spirit<\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Here\u2019s\r\nhow Peter describes it in his first letter to the body of Christ:<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

I Peter 3:4<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0<\/span>But\u00a0let\r\nit be<\/i>\u00a0the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not\r\ncorruptible,\u00a0even the ornament<\/i>\u00a0of a meek and quiet spirit,\r\nwhich is in the sight of God of great price.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

We\r\nare all familiar with the clich\u00e9,\u00a0<\/span>\u201cPower\r\ncorrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely<\/i>.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

From\r\nGod\u2019s perspective, the ability to keep a meek and quiet spirit, which is to\r\nsay, the ability to keep authority and power under control, is costly\r\n(Greek:\u00a0poluteles<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>:\u00a0<\/span>extremely expensive<\/span>).<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Undisciplined\r\nauthority and the exercise of power without having it under the control of Holy\r\nSpirit creates utter chaos around us, and it spreads that chaos like a disease.\r\nThat having authority and power under disciplined control as part and parcel of\r\nthe nature of Jesus Christ is demonstrated in something that Jesus said to the\r\nScribes and Pharisees who were questioning Him.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

John 8:28-29<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0<\/span>Then\r\nsaid Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know\r\nthat I am\u00a0he<\/i>, and\u00a0that<\/i>\u00a0I do nothing of myself;\r\nbut\u00a0as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things<\/u>. And He that\r\nsent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for\u00a0I do always\r\nthose things that please Him<\/u>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

You\r\nget it, don\u2019t you? Jesus was already regarded as \u201chuios<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>\u201d by Father: a fully grown and\r\nmature Son in whom Father had vested His complete authority and power. He\r\nliterally had all of Heaven at his disposal. There was NOTHING withheld from\r\nHim. He was the personification of both parts of David\u2019s revelation:<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Psalm 115:16<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0<\/span>The\r\nheaven,\u00a0even<\/i>\u00a0the heavens,\u00a0are<\/i>\u00a0the LORD\u2019S: but\r\nthe earth hath he given to the children of men.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Nevertheless,\r\nhaving all of Heaven at His disposal, and \u2014 as a Son of Man (as He periodically\r\ndescribed Himself) \u2014 having the entire Earth under His dominion, Jesus kept\r\nthat authority and the incalculable power of the Throne of Heaven under\r\nabsolute control.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

He\r\nmade it clear on more than one occasion that \u201cI only say those things that\r\nFather has taught me,\u201d or \u201cI only say those things that I hear Father say.\u201d By\r\nthe same token, Jesus said, \u201cI do always those things that please Him,\u201d or \u201cI\r\ndo only those things that I see Father do.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Get\r\nit? THAT\u2019s the true definition of meekness.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

And\r\nthat\u2019s why Jesus could say as a description of His character when He spoke to\r\nthe multitudes,\u00a0\u201cBlessed are the meek, for\r\nthey shall inherit the earth!\u201d<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n
