\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Let\u2019s pick up right where we left off last week.\u00a0 <\/span>We were talking about the revelation of\r\nResurrection that comes in water baptism.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>The truth contained in this revelation is nothing short of\r\nstunning!\u00a0 <\/span>In order to get a hold of it,\r\nhowever, we have to be able to shut down all of the pre-conditioning we\u2019ve had\r\nthroughout many generations.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nobjective here is that \u2014 as Paul puts it \u2014 we have know and have the revelation\r\nof Him, His <\/span>onoma<\/span><\/i><\/b>, <\/span>His\r\ncharacter and makeup.\u00a0 <\/span>But there\u2019s much,\r\nmuch more!\u00a0 <\/span>It isn\u2019t simply that we have\r\na revelation of Jesus in water baptism: we also receive a revelation of the\r\nmiraculous power and might released in His resurrection.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

And\r\nstill there is more!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

We\r\nget to be a partaker of the sufferings He endured \u2014 the beatings, the stripes,\r\nthe disfigurement that occurred when His beard was ripped out of his face, the\r\nunutterable pain that occurred when the crown of thorns was shoved into His\r\nskull.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

How\r\nare we a partaker of those sufferings, you ask?\u00a0\r\n<\/span>By receiving what He paid for on our behalf when all that took place.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Every\r\nsingle stripe of the cat-o-nine tails that ripped the flesh on His body\r\nrepresents a disease or an infirmity that He took for us.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\ndisfigurement that took place when His beard was ripped out, leaving loose\r\nflesh hanging from His face, His chin and His neck paid for the disfiguring\r\ninjuries that men and women suffer in today\u2019s so-called \u201cadvanced\u201d society as a\r\nresult of diseases or accidents of one kind or another.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\npain and suffering that occurred with the planting of the crown of thorns into\r\nHis skull paid for all of the mental anguish, the torment of our minds, the\r\nagonies we suffer with the thoughts of the past, the concerns of the present\r\nand the future.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Are\r\nyou now beginning to grasp the significance of getting to <\/span>\u201cknow\r\nthe fellowship <\/span>(Greek<\/span><\/b>: <\/span>koinonia<\/span><\/i><\/b>: partnership and participation with<\/span><\/u><\/b><\/span>) <\/span>of\r\nHis sufferings?\u201d\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>We partner with\r\nHim; we partake of those sufferings by being IN Him when we are immersed in the\r\nwaters of baptism.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Let\r\nme pause here for a minute to take you to Isaiah\u2019s prophecy concerning Jesus:<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Isaiah 53:3-5<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0\r\n<\/span><\/span>\u201cHe is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted\r\nwith grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we\r\nesteemed him not.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we\r\ndid esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/sup>But he was wounded\r\nfor our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of\r\nour peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Isaiah\r\nwas able to see some 700 years or so into the future, and what he sees is\r\nexactly what took place with Jesus\u2019 suffering, the betrayal, all that He took\r\nupon Himself, and all that He accomplished on our behalf.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

But\r\nIsaiah also saw far into the future to our present day.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Here\u2019s\r\nhow the Hebrew text describes the picture:<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

He is disdained and scorned, and considered as having ceased to\r\nexist by men: a man of anguish and pain, and has known grief by seeing and\r\nexperiencing it; and we hid as it were our faces from Him; He was disdained and\r\nscorned, and we maliciously fabricated, invented and treated His suffering and\r\ndeath as void.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Surely He has suffered and accepted as His own our maladies, our\r\nanxieties, our calamities, our disease and sicknesses, and carried our anguish,\r\npain and grief: yet we fabricated and maliciously invented His being stricken\r\nviolently, beaten, punished, wounded and slaughtered as if by God -- choosing\r\nto believe that God browbeat, demeaned and looked down upon Him.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

But He was broken and profaned for our rebellion, our revolt,\r\nour apostasy and our [religious] quarrel against God; He was crushed, oppressed\r\nand smitten, and (emotionally) broken into pieces for our perversity, our evil,\r\nour mischief, sins and faults; the breaking and ridiculing of our peace, our\r\nwelfare, our prosperity, our health and our safety was upon Him; and with His\r\nbloodied and blue wounds we are cured, mended, repaired and made thoroughly\r\nwhole.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>(Isaiah 53:3-5, RAC Translation\r\n& Amplification)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

You\r\nsee the difference in the picture, don\u2019t you?\u00a0\r\n<\/span>Isaiah is actually seeing how the world today treats Jesus, despite all\r\nthat He did on our behalf!\u00a0 <\/span>The world \u2014\r\nand a whole fistful of folks who call themselves Christians \u2014 still consider\r\nthat God demeaned and looked down on Him.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>So many folks today treat His death as null and void when and where it\r\napplies to every aspect of their lives.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>Jesus left NOTHING undone!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Listen\r\nto how Paul finishes with his explanation of what takes place.\u00a0 <\/span>He wraps all of this up with this phrase: <\/span>\u201cbeing\r\nmade conformable to His death.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

There\u2019s\r\na 64-dollar word for you!\u00a0\r\n<\/span>Conformable.\u00a0 <\/span>It comes from the\r\nGreek word: <\/span>summorphos<\/span><\/i><\/b>.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>It translates\r\nliterally to:<\/span>\r\n<\/span>being jointly formed; fashioned with and like<\/span><\/u><\/b>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Understand?\u00a0 <\/span>We are jointly formed with Jesus Christ INTO\r\nHis death.\u00a0 <\/span>He dies.\u00a0 <\/span>We die with Him.\u00a0 <\/span>The old us is dead.\u00a0 <\/span>What used to exist of us is now nothing more\r\nthan a corpse.\u00a0 <\/span>Jesus has died and is\r\nburied in a tomb.\u00a0 <\/span>We have been formed\r\nINTO Him so that as He died, so did we.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

In\r\nthe same way that Jesus\u2019 death finished the past, the sin, the sufferings, the\r\ndiseases and everything that went with the curse that came upon the human race,\r\nour having been jointly formed and fashioned like Him, means that our past \u2014\r\nand all the consequences of the sins, the iniquities of our fathers, the\r\ndiseases that have plagued us, the infirmities of our flesh, the poverty that came\r\nwith the curse \u2014 and death itself! \u2014 has been finished IN US!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

But\r\nthat\u2019s only the first part of baptism.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>That\u2019s the dying and burial part.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>But we don\u2019t remain in the grave!\u00a0\r\n<\/span>The power of the Resurrection has been made available to us.\u00a0 <\/span>Here\u2019s what Jesus said about it when He was\r\ntalking to Martha (and you\u2019ll remember that we quoted this last week:<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

John 11:25-26<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0\r\n<\/span><\/span>\u201cI am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me,\r\nthough he were dead, yet shall he live: <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/sup>And whosoever liveth\r\nand believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Paul\r\ndeals with this when he writes his letter to the Ekklesia in Ephesus:<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Ephesians 2:4-7<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0\r\n<\/span><\/span>\u201cBut God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he\r\nloved us, <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/sup>Even\r\nwhen we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye\r\nare saved;) <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/sup>And\r\nhath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in\r\nChrist Jesus: <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/sup>That\r\nin the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in his\r\nkindness toward us through Christ Jesus.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

It\r\ncouldn\u2019t be any clearer!\u00a0 <\/span>We were dead\r\nwith our lives measured by the Law of Sin and Death.\u00a0 <\/span>But Jesus incorporated us with Him when He\r\ndied.\u00a0 <\/span>We were woven into His being so\r\nthat when He died, carrying our sins, we died at the same time.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

We\r\ndidn\u2019t exit Him, and He didn\u2019t eject us when He was raised from the dead.\u00a0 <\/span>Paul uses an interesting word in the Greek\r\ntext when he says that God \u201chath quickened us together with Christ.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>The Greek word in this instance is: <\/span>suzoopoieo<\/span><\/i><\/b>, <\/span>and it means: <\/span>to reanimate, or\r\nto make one alive together (at the same time)<\/span><\/u><\/b>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

But\r\nour resurrection doesn\u2019t stop with our being raised from the dead (what which\r\noccurs when we are raised out of the water).\u00a0\r\n<\/span>Father God continued the \u201craising up\u201d together IN Christ, and has made\r\nus to sit together \u2014 WITH<\/b> Him, and IN <\/b>Him \u2014 in Heavenly places,\r\nin the anointing of the Anointed One, the Lord Jesus Christ!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

THAT, <\/span><\/i><\/b>my friends is what takes place when we are\r\nbaptized in water!\u00a0 <\/span>We\u2019ll explore this a\r\nbit further next week, but I\u2019d like to take a detour and talk about a different\r\nkind of transition.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Consider\r\nwhat Paul writes to the Corinthians.\u00a0 <\/span>We\r\nwill explore the entire 15th chapter of I Corinthians later, but here\u2019s\r\nsomething that has been the source of much discussion in the body of Christ for\r\nmany years.\u00a0 <\/span>Many folks relate this\r\npassage of Scripture to an event that will transpire at some time way off in\r\nthe future.\u00a0 <\/span>That\u2019s wrong!\u00a0 <\/span>This is an event for the here and now!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

I Corinthians 15:51-57, KJV<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>Behold, I show you a\r\nmystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/sup>In a moment, in the\r\ntwinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the\r\ndead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/sup>For this corruptible\r\nmust put on incorruption, and this mortal must<\/i> put on immortality. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/sup><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and\r\nthis mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the\r\nsaying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/sup>O death, where is<\/i>\r\nthy sting? O grave, where is<\/i> thy victory? <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/sup>The sting of death is<\/i>\r\nsin; and the strength of sin is<\/i> the law. But thanks be<\/i> to God,\r\nwhich giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Now,\r\nlet me amplify this passage from the Greek text for the sake of some\r\nclarification.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Let me give you something that you can see with your spiritual\r\neyes \u2014 a thing which has been hidden from natural discernment which I now\r\nreveal to you; we are not all headed for death and the grave, but we will \u2014 all\r\nof us \u2014 transform.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

In an \u201catom\u201d of time, in that same split second that the eye\r\nblinks, at the sound and reverberation of the final sound of the trumpet: for\r\nthe trumpet shall sound a blast (both literally and figuratively), and those\r\nwho are dead \u2014 both literally as corpses, and as flesh and blood with the\r\nsentence of death hanging over them \u2014will be roused and awakened with all decay\r\nin their existence eradicated for all eternity.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

What has been decaying and subject to decay must, of necessity,\r\ncease for all time; where we have once been mortals and subject to death,\r\ndisease, sickness and weakness now changes so that we become immortals\r\n(restored to that image and likeness we were first created for).<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Therefore, when this perishable existence now transforms into an\r\nunending, immortal existence, then we will see brought to pass the old saying\r\nthat was written, \u201cDeath (and dying) have been engulfed and consumed by\r\nconquest and victory \u2014 totally vanquished.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u201cOh, death, where is your poison; where is the power of your pin\r\nprick?\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The poison and pin prick of death is sin \u2014 offenses against God:\r\nand the dynamic force of sin is embodied in the Law.\u00a0 <\/span>But, thanks and grace be to Father God who\r\ntotally vanquishes sin through our Lord Jesus Christ!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Therefore, my dear and beloved brothers and sisters, be\r\nabsolutely steadfast, settled and immovable, always excelling and\r\nsuper-abounding in the labors and direction of the Lord, knowing without\r\nquestio<\/a>n that your toil, your pains, your trouble and\r\nyour weariness is not wasted, empty and in vain in the Lord.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>(I Corinthians 15:51-57, RAC Translation\r\nand Amplification)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Are\r\nyou seeing the revelation of this?\u00a0 <\/span>This\r\nis not a \u201cwhen we all get to Heaven\u201d event.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>If\u00a0 <\/span>we don\u2019t have this victory\r\nnow, then why did John write the following statement in his general epistle to\r\nthe body of Christ?<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

I John 3:2-3<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>Beloved,\r\nnow are we the sons of God<\/u>, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be:\r\nbut we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see\r\nhim as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even\r\nas he is pure. <\/span>(emphasis,\r\nmine)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Get\r\nit?\u00a0 <\/span>John isn\u2019t saying, \u201cWhen we all get\r\nto Heaven, we will be like him.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>He is\r\nmaking it clear that we are NOW the sons of God, and that when the Lord Jesus\r\nChrist appears (HERE!) we will already be like Him!\u00a0 <\/span>That means that the transforming process will\r\nhave taken place.\u00a0 <\/span>We will have made the\r\ntransition from mortality to immortality.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

That\r\nmeans that changes are going on in us now.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>There is a transformative process taking place on a daily basis \u2014 with a\r\ncaveat, of course.\u00a0 <\/span>The caveat is that we\r\nare responding to every quickening of Holy Spirit.\u00a0 <\/span>Whatever He speaks, whatever He whispers,\r\nwhatever He nudges us with, we respond \u2014 IMMEDIATELY!!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

There\r\nis no room \u2014 and no time \u2014 to \u201cadjust\u201d His Word to us to fit our thinking or\r\nour paradigm.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

No\r\nmatter how long we live, and no matter what our upbringing, we have all\r\ndeveloped mindsets and mental protocols that cause us to either respond or\r\nreact or \u201cadjust\u201d the Word spoken to us to fit our understanding.\u00a0 <\/span>It is mandatory that we overcome those\r\nmindsets and mental protocols.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n
