\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The whole concept of being\r\nraised from the dead and walking and living in Resurrection Life is something\r\nthat is more theory and mysticism in many parts of the body of Christ than\r\nreality.\u00a0 <\/span>Most Christians still believe\r\nthat death is a certainty for them and they expect to die.\u00a0 <\/span>The fact that Jesus kept our appointment with\r\ndeath and redeemed us from death with His resurrection from the grave is\r\n\u201cspiritual\u201d in the minds of most believers \u2013 NOT literal.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>My objective in sharing this series is to\r\nawaken God\u2019s people to the fact that death is not a certainty for those who can\r\ngrasp this revelation.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

When\r\nI was seven years old and awakened one morning with Jesus standing at the foot\r\nof my bed, He began to lay out His plan and purpose for my life.\u00a0 <\/span>One of the things that He did say to me was\r\nthat I would not die, \u201cnor know death as men and women know death,\u201d and that I\r\nwould be here to enter into the millennial reign of the Lord Jesus Christ.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

At\r\nage seven, death is not something you think about at all.\u00a0 <\/span>The promise was there and it was firmly\r\nlodged in my spirit, but the real significance of what Jesus was saying took\r\nmany years to really take hold.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Take\r\nanother look at what Paul writes in Hebrews 9.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Hebrews 9:27-28<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/i><\/span><\/b>And as it is\r\nappointed unto men once <\/span>(<\/span><\/b>hapax: <\/span><\/i><\/b>one\r\ntime<\/span><\/i><\/b>) <\/span><\/b>to die, but after this the judgment <\/span>(<\/span><\/b>krisis<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>: <\/span><\/i><\/b>tribunal\r\nof justice \u2014 either for or against<\/span><\/i><\/b>)<\/span><\/b>: <\/span>So\r\nChrist was once <\/span>(<\/span><\/b>hapax: <\/span><\/i><\/b>once\r\nand for all time<\/span><\/i><\/b>)\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/b>offered\r\nto bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the\r\nsecond time without sin unto salvation.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Some\r\nof you will remember my sharing of being transported in the Spirit to the\r\ncrucifixion and seeing all the sins of the world, past, present and future\r\ngathered together like one huge cloud \u2014\u00a0\r\n<\/span>a hurricane or gigantic tornado, if you will \u2014 and centered upon the\r\nCross as Jesus took those sins upon Himself.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\npicture below scarcely does justice to what I saw, but it gives you an idea of\r\nwhat took place.\u00a0 <\/span>Sin has that same\r\neffect upon the world today.\u00a0 <\/span>It brings\r\ncatastrophe, destruction, disease and death.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Once\r\nAdam disobeyed God\u2019s Word and ate of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and\r\nEvil, he had sinned.\u00a0 <\/span>In so doing the\r\ngenesis of death commenced.\u00a0 <\/span>Thus Paul\r\nmakes the point that Jesus fulfilled the necessity for our death, keeping our\r\nappointment for us.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The appointment of death for the human race\r\nbecame ingrained into the very substance and nature of our existence with\r\nAdam\u2019s sin.\u00a0 <\/span>Death was the destiny of\r\nevery living being on the planet.\u00a0 <\/span>And,\r\nwith death came every disease, sickness and infirmity.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Under the Law, provision was made for\r\nhealing from sickness and disease.\u00a0 <\/span>Under\r\nthe Law, atonement* for sin was taken care of by the shedding of the blood of\r\nlambs, bulls and goats and offering up burnt offerings.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Under the Law, atonement for sin existed,\r\nbut not remission** or erasure.\u00a0 <\/span>The\r\nblood of animals was simply a prophetic forerunner of One whose death would\r\nforever erase the sins and finish off the death sentence for all who accepted\r\nHis death.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

[*Atonement<\/u> is a translation of the\r\nHebrew word: <\/span>kaphar<\/span><\/i><\/b>.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/b>This word means: <\/span>to\r\ncover over, to pacify, to extend mercy, to reconcile or placate<\/span><\/u><\/i><\/b>.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/i><\/b>It differs radically from the picture of\r\nremission as you will see in the following paragraph.]<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

[**Remission\r\n<\/u>is a translation from the Greek word: <\/span>aphesis<\/span><\/i><\/b>.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/b>This word is taken from its root: <\/span>aphiemi; <\/span><\/i><\/b>and it means <\/span>to send\r\naway, to erase, to wipe out so <\/span><\/u><\/i><\/b>completely\r\nas to forget it ever existed<\/span><\/u><\/i><\/b>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

A\r\ncorollary Scripture is found in Psalm 103:12: <\/u><\/b><\/span>\u201cAs\r\nfar as the east is from the west, so far hath He removed our transgressions\r\nfrom us.\u201d]<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

As the Word so clearly demonstrates, Jesus\r\ndidn\u2019t just cover over our sin, He eradicated it to such a degree that it was\r\nburied in the sea, away from even the memory of the Father.\u00a0 <\/span>(See Micah 7:19)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Three times in the Word (see Acts3:19) we\r\nare told that our sins were blotted out.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>The Greek word occurring here is <\/span>exaleipho<\/span><\/i><\/b>.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/b>It means <\/span>to wipe\r\nout, to obliterate from memory<\/span><\/u><\/i><\/b>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

That means that Jesus kept our appointment\r\nwith death.\u00a0 <\/span>He removed the necessity of\r\nour keeping the appointment and in the process eliminated:<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

(1)\u00a0the\r\ncurse of death,<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

(2)\u00a0the\r\ndisease, sickness and infirmity that comes with it,<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

(3)\u00a0\r\nand the curse of having to work for a living.\u00a0\r\n<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

We describe this last one as\r\n\u201cpoverty.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>You\u2019ll recall what God told\r\nAdam:<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Genesis 3:17-19<\/span><\/u><\/b>:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/i><\/b>And unto Adam he\r\nsaid, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of\r\nthe tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed\r\nis the ground for thy sake<\/u>; in [painful toil and] sorrow shalt thou eat of\r\nit all the days of thy life; <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou\r\nshalt eat the herb of the field; In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat\r\nbread, till thou return unto the ground<\/u>; for out of it wast thou taken: for\r\ndust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/p>\r\n\r\n

In simple terms, we define the word,\r\n\"Blessing,\" as the empowerment to prosper.\u00a0 <\/span>The word, \"curse,\" is the inverse\r\nof the blessing.\u00a0 <\/span>It literally means the\r\nremoval of the empowerment we have in God to prosper, to bless and to be\r\nblessed.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Minus the empowerment to prosper, we are\r\nleft to our own devices.\u00a0 <\/span>A curse is\r\nnothing more and nothing less than the removal of any empowerment to prosper.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

That\u2019s the curse that Jesus eradicated by\r\nkeeping our appointment with death.\u00a0 <\/span>The\r\napostle Paul, being a lawyer by training and schooled in the Law of Moses,\r\ndescribed our deliverance from the curse in legal and judicial terms:<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Romans 8:1-2<\/span><\/u><\/b>:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/i><\/b>There is therefore\r\nnow no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh,\r\nbut after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath\r\nmade me free from the law of sin and death<\/u>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Are\r\nyou seeing it?\u00a0 <\/span>Are you beginning to\r\ngrasp just how powerful Jesus\u2019 act was on our behalf?<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Somehow we have to break the mindset that\r\n\u201cdeath is a given.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>Everyone of us as\r\nbelievers \u2014 and that\u2019s the operative word: believe \u2014 need to get it engraved in\r\nour minds, our souls and \u2014 mostly \u2014 our spirits that the Law of the Spirit of\r\nLife in Christ Jesus has totally set us free from the Law of Sin and\r\nDeath.\u00a0 <\/span>It has to become part and parcel\r\nof our existence.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

This recent flu epidemic that has swept the\r\nnation, taking thousands of lives, is nothing more and nothing less than a\r\nscare tactic of Satan designed to make us feel totally vulnerable and to raise\r\nour death consciousness.\u00a0 <\/span>My own episode\r\nof being hospitalized with both the flu and pneumonia during the Christmas\/New Years<\/span> holiday period was a classic example of how the\r\nmedical profession and the pharmaceutical industry endeavors to load you up\r\nwith medications to \u201ctreat you.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

They don\u2019t have a \u201ccure mentality.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>The pharmaceutical industry in particular\r\nwants to keep you right on the edge so they can continue to treat your\r\nsymptoms.\u00a0 <\/span>When I was in the hospital,\r\nthe operative phrase heard often was, \u201cif we don\u2019t treat you with these\r\nmedications, you could die.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>I was told\r\nthat my heart was failing and that I was close to death.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Baloney!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

I had a visit with the Chief Cardiologist\r\nthis past week.\u00a0 <\/span>He is a believer.\u00a0 <\/span>He has a different philosophy.\u00a0 <\/span>His word to me was, \u201cYour heart is getting\r\nstronger, and I can see the day when we can take you off all these\r\nmedications.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>We are in complete\r\nagreement!\u00a0 <\/span>I will not succumb to a lie\r\nof the Enemy that says, \u201cYou will die.\u201d\u00a0\r\n<\/span>I WILL NOT!\u00a0 <\/span>I\u2019ve been set free\r\nfrom the Law of Sin and Death.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

We don\u2019t ever think of the concept of Resurrection\r\nas being a transition, but when you think about water baptism, that\u2019s precisely\r\nwhat is taking place.\u00a0 <\/span>We transition from\r\ndeath to life through our obedience to Jesus\u2019 command, and the pattern He set\r\nbefore us with His own baptism.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Take a look at a vivid description of what takes\r\nplace in baptism in Paul\u2019s letter to the Ekklesia in Rome.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

In\r\nwriting to the Romans, Paul says, <\/span>\u201cDon\u2019t you realize\r\nthat those of us who have been baptized \u2014 immersed \u2014 into the\u00a0 <\/span>Anointed One and His Anointing have been\r\nbaptized into His death?\u201d\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>(Romans 6:3,\u00a0 <\/span>RAC Translation and Amplification)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Let\r\nme pick up with the amplified translation from Romans 6.\u00a0 <\/span>We\u2019ve used in this description and\r\ntranslation in years past.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

And\r\nPaul continues: <\/span>\u201cTherefore, and as a consequence thereof, we are buried and put\r\ninto the grave through baptism so that our old man sees death.\u00a0 <\/span>It follows, therefore, that in the same way\r\nChrist was raised up from the dead by the visible Glory of the Father, we also\r\nshould walk and live renewed and refreshed (with His breath) of life.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>(Romans 6:4\u00a0\r\n<\/span>RAC Translation and Amplification)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Here\u2019s\r\nwhere Paul spells things out in specific detail.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u201cFor if we have been planted together, germinating as seeds in\r\nthe likeness and form of His death, we shall also spring forth in (and with\r\nHis) resurrection: <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/sup>Knowing\r\nthis, that our old man and corrupted DNA is crucified with him, that the body\r\n(of law) of sin might be annulled and destroyed in order to free us from having\r\nto serve and be under the Law of Sin and Death.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u201cFor he who has died is freed from sin (and the laws which\r\ndetermine that which is sin). <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/sup>Now if we are truly\r\ndead with Christ, we believe and know that we shall also live with Him:<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

<\/a>\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/sup><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u201c<\/span><\/sup>Knowing that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die\r\nagain; death has no more authority, dominion, control or power over Him. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/sup>For when He died, He\r\ndied killing off sin and death once and for all: and by virtue of the fact that\r\nHe lives, He lives in and for the destiny and purposes of God.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>(Romans 6:5-10,\u00a0 <\/span>RAC Translation and Amplification)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Consider\r\nthe following:<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

For\r\nall those who are in Christ Jesus, we were with Him when He was hanging on the\r\nCross!\u00a0 <\/span>All of our sins, along with the\r\nsins of our fathers, our grandfathers, our great-grandfathers, and every\r\ngeneration before them came upon Jesus as He hung there.\u00a0 <\/span>When He died, He took those sins with Him to\r\nthe grave.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

During\r\nthe three days his body lay in the grave, He took our sins, our iniquities, our\r\nsicknesses, our infirmities, our diseases and the curse of death that hung over\r\nthe human race and laid them all at Satan\u2019s feet!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

THAT,\r\nfolks, is exactly what happens with us in water baptism when we are buried with\r\nHim!\u00a0 <\/span>We are with Him. We are IN Him!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

EVERYTHING\r\nof our past \u2014 including the sins of our fathers, and the iniquities visited\r\nupon us as a result \u2014 gets laid at Satan\u2019s feet.\u00a0 <\/span>He gets back what He so treacherously dumped\r\non us!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Now\r\ncomes the Resurrection!\u00a0 <\/span>Listen to how\r\nthe apostle Paul puts it as he writes to the Philippians.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Philippians 3:8d-11<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>\u201cThat I may win\r\nChrist, And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the\r\nlaw, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is\r\nof God by faith: That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the\r\nfellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/sup>If by any means I\r\nmight attain unto the resurrection of the dead.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Do\r\nyou see it?\u00a0 <\/span>In water baptism we are in\r\nHim \u2014 NOT in our own (self) righteousness which gets measured by the Law with\r\nits penalties and curse.\u00a0 <\/span>Rather, we are\r\nin Him by, through and because of His faith; and that faith comes from Father\r\nGod by means of the anointing that is in Jesus.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nobjective here is that \u2014 as Paul puts it \u2014 we have know and have the revelation\r\nof Him, His <\/span>onoma<\/span><\/i><\/b>, <\/span>His\r\ncharacter and makeup.\u00a0 <\/span>But there\u2019s much,\r\nmuch more!\u00a0 <\/span>It isn\u2019t simply that we have\r\na revelation of Jesus in water baptism: we also receive a revelation of the\r\nmiraculous power and might released in His resurrection.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

And\r\nstill there is more!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

We\r\nget to be a partaker of the sufferings He endured \u2014 the beatings, the stripes,\r\nthe disfigurement that occurred when His beard was ripped out of his face, the\r\nunutterable pain that occurred when the crown of thorns was shoved into His\r\nskull<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n
