Resurrection From the Dead, Part 1<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Resurrection from the dead is\r\na topic we\u2019ve discussed from time to time, but never really explored with full\r\nrevelation.\u00a0 <\/span>Resurrection is a topic we\r\nassociate strictly with physical death, but it goes way beyond just the\r\nphysical aspects.\u00a0 <\/span>In the coming weeks,\r\nI\u2019d like to dig into this with you.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>Don\u2019t know where this will all lead yet, but Holy Spirit has been\r\ndownloading revelation in the past couple of weeks, so we will see where this\r\ntakes us.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Let\u2019s begin today with some statements that\r\nJesus made.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

John 6:38-40, KJV<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span><\/b>For\r\nI came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent\r\nme. And this is the Father\u2019s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath\r\ngiven me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.\r\nAnd this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth<\/span> the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting\r\nlife: and I will raise him up at the last day.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

John 5:24, KJV<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/b>Verily,\r\nverily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent\r\nme, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed\r\nfrom death unto life.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

This is the first and most basic element of\r\nresurrection.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Jesus is making it abundantly clear that\r\neveryone who sees Him \u2014 the Greek word here is <\/span>theoreo<\/span><\/i><\/b>, which means: <\/span>to\r\ndiscern, to see and know, to perceive and ascertain<\/span><\/i><\/b> <\/span><\/i><\/b>\u2014<\/span><\/i> and believes on\r\nHim (and here the word in the Greek text is <\/span>pisteuo<\/span><\/i><\/b>, <\/span>which is the word for faith, the exercise\r\nof faith meaning: <\/span>to put full faith and credit in, to entrust and to commit\r\nwithout reservation<\/span><\/i><\/b>)<\/span><\/i> <\/span>will have <\/span>zoe <\/span><\/i><\/b>life (the\r\nGod-breathed life) <\/span>aionios<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>: <\/span>existing throughout the eternity of the eternities<\/span><\/i><\/b>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Then Jesus says this: <\/span>And\r\nI will raise him up at the last day<\/span>. <\/span><\/b>This is perhaps one of the most unique and\r\nrevelatory things Jesus says in this passage.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The Greek word used for the phrase <\/span>\u201craise\r\nhim up\u201d <\/span>is\r\nthe word, <\/span>anistemi<\/span><\/i><\/b>, <\/span>a contraction of two Greek words, <\/span>ana<\/span><\/i><\/b> <\/span><\/i><\/b>(up) and histemi<\/i><\/b>,\r\na prolonged version of <\/span>stao<\/span><\/i><\/b>, <\/span>which has some meanings and applications\r\nwhich give real understanding to what Jesus is saying.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

This word, \u201cpassed\u201d comes from the Greek metabaino\r\n<\/i><\/b>which is an instant transition from one place to another.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Again, we have the picture of hearing\r\n(hearing and understand-ing<\/span>) and exercising faith and\r\nabsolute confidence and trust in the reality of who Jesus is, and the price\r\nthat Jesus paid on our be-half.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

When Jesus said, <\/span>I\r\nwill raise him up at the last day, <\/span>He was applying the truth of resurrection\r\nin a phenomenal way.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The term, <\/span>anistemi<\/span><\/i><\/b>, <\/span>literally means: <\/span>to\r\nstand up again, to fix and establish, to uphold and sustain the authority, to\r\nrestore and sustain covenant.<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Resurrection, therefore, is much more than\r\nbeing raised frm<\/span> the dead, it is being moved from\r\ndeath \u2014 where we have been laid flat by sin \u2014 to the very life that is God\u2019s\r\nlife. It is the restoration of our relationship with Father, Son & Holy\r\nSpirit throughout the eternity of the eternities!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Death, in this sense, is nothing more than\r\nseparation from the relationship we were created for and in with Father, Son\r\n& Holy Spirit.\u00a0 <\/span>Resurrection, again\r\nin this sense, is being raised back to that life we were created and designed\r\nfor.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

But that\u2019s only one phase of resurrection.\r\nWhat Jesus paid for, and what Father did when He raised Jesus from physical\r\ndeath in the tomb, is literally the cancellation of the sentence of death upon\r\nus.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

We\u2019ve quoted this passage again and again\r\nin times past but it deserves revisiting in this context:<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Hebrews 9:25-26, KJV<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span><\/b>Nor\r\nyet that he should offer him-self often, as the high priest entereth into the\r\nholy place every year with blood of others; For then must he often have\r\nsuffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the\r\nworld hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Hebrews 9:27-28, Amp Bible<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span>And\r\njust as it is appointed for [all] men once to die, and after that the [certain]\r\njudgment, Even so it is that Christ, having been offered to take upon Himself\r\nand bear as a burden the sins of many once and once for all, will appear a\r\nsecond time, not to carry any burden of sin nor to deal with sin, but to bring\r\nto full salvation those who are [eagerly, constantly, and patiently] waiting\r\nfor and expecting Him.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

When\r\nAdam and Eve ate of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, they brought\r\nsin and death into the human genome. Under the Law of Moses, it was necessary\r\nfor the priests to enter into the Holy Place once each year with a blood\r\nsacrifice for the atonement (or covering over) of the sins of the people. That\r\nact of offering a blood sacrifice did <\/span>not eradicate the sin, nor did it do away\r\nwith the sentence of death in human DNA.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Thus, it became necessary for Jesus Christ\r\nto become the once and for all time blood sacrifice in order to completely\r\neradicate both the sin and do away with the sentence of death. What the priests\r\ncould not do under the Law of Moses, Jesus accomplished with four distinct\r\nacts:<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

(1) He laid the axe to the root of the Tree\r\nof the Knowledge of Good and Evil. (see Matthew 3:10<\/i><\/b>)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

(2) He was hung and died on that Tree \u2014 the\r\nsame Tree that brought death to Adam and Eve. (see Acts 13:29 and I Peter\r\n2:24<\/i><\/b>) <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

(3) He took all of our sins, our sicknesses\r\nand diseases, our infirmities, and Satan\u2019s power over us to that Tree and put\r\nit all to death, then laid it at Satan\u2019s feet once and for all. <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

(4) Having put an end to the power of sin\r\nand sickness, disease and infirmity, He also put an end to death when Father\r\nraised Him from the dead. (Acts 10:39-40 and 13:30, & Galatians\r\n3:13-14<\/i><\/b>)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

This last quote from Paul\u2019s letter to the\r\nGalatians makes it about as unambiguous as anything can be when he writes that <\/span>\u201cChrist\r\nhath redeemed us from the curse of the Law, being made a curse for us.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

So what was the curse? It was the sentence\r\nof death for sin. That was the sentence that had passed upon all man-kind\u00a0 <\/span>from the moment that Adam ate of the fruit of\r\nthe Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

There was a fundamental under-standing\r\namong the Jews that there would come a Resurrection Day for all at some point\r\nin the future when all would stand before the Great Judgment Seat.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Consider Martha\u2019s statement to Je-sus when\r\nhe spoke of Lazarus being raised from the dead:<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

John 11:21-24, KJV<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span>Then\r\nsaid Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.\r\nBut I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it\r\nthee. Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again. Martha saith unto\r\nhim, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day. <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

But look now at what Jesus says to Martha\r\nnext:<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

John 11:25-26, KJV<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span>Jesus\r\nsaid unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me,\r\nthough he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in\r\nme shall never die. Believest thou this?<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Martha responded in the affirmative to\r\nJesus, but that\u2019s not quite what He got when He was addressing a crowd of followers.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

John 6:49-52, KJV<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span>Your\r\nfathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead. This is the bread which\r\ncometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die. I am the\r\nliving bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he\r\nshall live for ever<\/span>: and the bread that I will give\r\nis my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. The Jews therefore\r\nstrove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

But Jesus was quick to answer them.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

John 6:54-58, KJV<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span>Whoso\r\neateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him\r\nup at the last day. For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.\r\nHe that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him. <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

As the living Father\r\nhath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall\r\nlive by me. This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers\r\ndid eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live forever.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

In each of the preceding verses and\r\npassages, we have seen the words, \u201cdie,\u201d and \u201cdeath.\u201d In each case the Greek\r\nword <\/span>apothnesko <\/span><\/i><\/b>occurs. This word\r\nliterally means: <\/span>to die off, to be dead physically<\/span><\/i><\/b>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

What\u2019s sad is that in today\u2019s society, and\r\nparticularly in the body of Christ for many generations, this has been read and\r\ninferred as spiritual death. After all, Jesus surely didn\u2019t mean that\r\nResurrection From the Dead meant that we could apply this in a literal sense!<\/o:p><\/i><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

And yet, that\u2019s exactly what the Word says!\r\nJesus couldn\u2019t have said it more plainly than He did when He said to Martha, <\/span>\u201cAnd\r\nwhosoever liveth and believeth in me SHALL NEVER DIE.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Again, when Paul is writing to the Hebrews\r\nand says the following:<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Hebrews 9:27-28<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span><\/i><\/b>And\r\nas it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: So Christ\r\nwas once offered to bear the sins of many.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Here once again, the word translated \u201cdie\u201d\r\nis that same word Jesus used, <\/span>apothnesko<\/span><\/i><\/b>: physical death.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Resurrection of the Dead IS a foundation\r\ntruth and principle that we must lay hold of. We have to see and understand\r\nthis as much more than a spiritual event. Of course the spiritual aspect of it\r\nis critical! It is the restoration of our relationship and interdimensional\r\nwalk with the Lord through-out the eternity of the eternities. But in order for\r\nit to have force NOW in this present day and time, we have to see it as\r\nResurrection from the sentence of death. Death cannot be a consideration for\r\nus.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The subconscious belief that we must die\r\nnow impedes our ability to believe that we can raise the dead just as Jesus\r\ndid. And, please, don\u2019t anyone think I\u2019m saying that a person absolutely must\r\nbelieve in physical death cancellation before they can raise the dead.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

We have far too many examples of folks in\r\nbygone eras and moves of God who did raise the dead. But God is bringing His\r\npeople beyond the old mindset and understanding.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

There are current examples of people living\r\ntoday who have grasped this principle and have been alive for hundreds of\r\nyears.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

When\r\nJesus hung on the Cross, His last words were, <\/span>\u201cIt is\r\nFinished!\u201d <\/span>Blood\r\nand water came from His side when the centurion pierced His side. What was\r\nfinished? Sin and death! What came forth from His side? A new birth! A Bride\r\nwho would live and demonstrate His Life to the world!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Some\r\nfolks think this topic is something of a hobby horse with me because I have\r\ntalked about it from time to time throughout the years, and it is frequently\r\nthe subject of conversation in small groups.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>The subject of Resurrection from the dead and raising folks from the\r\ndead really became a reality for me when I was raised from the dead roughly 35\r\nyears ago.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nLord had already begun to shape my thinking on this subject when I\u2019d had two\r\nseparate experiences of raising someone from the dead in the 1970\u2019s, but it\r\nbecame very personal when I dropped dead from a heart attack in 1983, shortly\r\nafter Della and I were married.\u00a0 <\/span>There\u2019s\r\nno need to repeat the whole story here since most of you have heard me share\r\nthe events that led up to it and the enormous stress I\u2019d been under.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Nevertheless,\r\nwhen I dropped in the shower and Della dragged my limp body out of the shower\r\ninto the bedroom, heaved me up onto the bed and began pronouncing life back\r\ninto me, something happened in my spirit with that event that I\u2019ve never been\r\nable to put into words.\u00a0 <\/span>I came to about\r\n15 or 20 minutes later with Della straddling me, bringing her fist down in the\r\nair over and over and shouting, \u201cYou will come back in the name of Jesus!\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

It\r\nis the only time in my life that I didn\u2019t have a conscious memory of being in\r\nHeaven, or being with the Lord, and yet I have many flashes from time to time\r\nwhere I remember events and revelations from Holy Spirit that could only have\r\nhappened then.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

You\r\nall know of my other trips to Heaven, and they were all conscious experiences\r\nnot connected to physical death or dying but rather waking experiences where I\r\nwas transported by Holy Spirit, by and angel of the Lord, or by Jesus Himself.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Let\u2019s leave it here for today, and we will continue\r\nthis next week.<\/span><\/a><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n
