\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Beginning in 2008 and into 2009 Holy\r\nSpirit instructed me to begin sharing Sunday after Sunday after Sunday after\r\nSunday on the Table of the Lord.\u00a0 Just when I thought we'd about gotten\r\nthe full revelation of what takes place, the Holy Spirit would download a whole\r\nnew picture.\u00a0 Hence, for some 40 weeks or so in succession, the Lord\r\npeeled layer after layer after layer away so that we began seeing and hearing\r\nan entirely new and expanded dimension of this covenant act.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

If you are wondering what all this\r\nhas to do with Resurrection Life and resurrection from the dead, buckle your\r\nseatbelt!\u00a0 <\/span>We are on a fresh journey\r\nthrough our understanding of what we commonly call the Table of the Lord, or\r\nthe Communion Table.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Take\r\na quick look at Matthew 26 where we have a picture of the Last Supper.\u00a0 In\r\nverses 17-20 we see them eating of the unleavened bread.\u00a0 The Greek word\r\nwhich describes unleavened bread is azumos<\/span><\/i>.<\/span><\/b>\u00a0 But following the final celebration of\r\nPassover, Jesus again takes bread, and as He did when feeding the 5000 (and the\r\n4000), he breaks it and begins to serve the disciples.\u00a0 (See verse 26.)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nGreek word in this instance is not azumos<\/span><\/i>,<\/span><\/b> but artos<\/span><\/i>:<\/span><\/b> raised bread.\u00a0 These two Greek words\r\nexactly parallel the two Hebrew words which describe both the unleavened bread\r\n(matstsah<\/span><\/i><\/b>) of Passover, and\r\nthe raised bread that was on display on the Table of Shewbread (lechem<\/span><\/i><\/b>).\u00a0 Jesus became the bread of\r\nPassover, fulfilling its purpose, and the bread of provision -- the Table of\r\nShewbread -- that He promised in Matthew 6:33 and Philippians 4:19.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Yet\r\nthe Table of the Lord was actually manifested centuries before with\r\nAbraham.\u00a0 Remember when Melchizedek came out to greet Abraham after the\r\nslaughter of the kings' armies when he went to retrieve Lot following his\r\ncapture?\u00a0 He came out with bread (lechem<\/span><\/i><\/b>)\r\nand wine, and declared the Blessing upon Abraham.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

I\u2019m\r\nsure that I\u2019ve mentioned this before, but consider the fact that Jesus was born\r\nin the city of Bethlehem.\u00a0 <\/span>We\u2019ve\r\nanglicized this name, but in Hebrew it comes out a Beit-Lechem.\u00a0 <\/span>That translates to: the House of Whole\r\nBread.\u00a0 <\/span>Get it?\u00a0 <\/span>Jesus was the end of Passover.\u00a0 <\/span>He was the full provision.\u00a0 <\/span>He was the whole bread of Heaven with all of\r\nits nourishment.\u00a0 <\/span>There was nothing\r\nmissing in Him.\u00a0 <\/span>He came to restore the\r\nwholeness that Adam and Eve once had in the Garden.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

This\r\nmay seem a bit heavy, but I wanted to get these foundations laid in your\r\nunderstanding before we really begin to see and understand just how significant\r\nwas the Table of the Lord.\u00a0 <\/span>Let me say\r\nsomething here before we get back to Jesus' very controversial statement.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The only way true change will come to\r\nus, then to the body of Christ and finally to the world, is when we stop\r\nsetting our own agendas and begin to agree with everything God says.\u00a0 <\/span>We must respond to what He desires to do in\r\nus -- no matter whether it crosses our doctrinal understanding or not.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Jesus'\r\nstatement caused such great consternation among the people who heard him.\u00a0 <\/span>They only saw his comments within the\r\nframework of the Law of Moses, or from a purely physical standpoint, and\r\nbecause they treated His Word that way they were repulsed by them.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\"This\r\nis the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not\r\ndie.\u00a0 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of\r\nthis bread, he shall live forever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh,\r\nwhich I will give for the life of the world.\u00a0 .....<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/u><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Verily,\r\nverily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and<\/o:p><\/span><\/u><\/p>\r\n\r\n

drink his\r\nblood, ye have no life in you<\/span><\/u>.\u00a0 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my\r\nblood, hath eternal life<\/u>; and I will raise him up at the last day.\u00a0\r\nFor my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

He that\r\neateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.\u00a0 As\r\nthe living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me,\r\neven he shall live by me.\u00a0 This is that bread which came down from heaven:\r\nnot as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread\r\nshall live forever.\"<\/span>\u00a0\r\n(John 6:50-51, 53-58)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/u><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Then\r\nwe have John's observation of Jesus:<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\"And\r\nthe Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us<\/u>, (and we beheld his glory, the\r\nglory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.\"<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/b> (John 1:14)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Ever\r\nwonder how \"the Word was made flesh\" as John declares?\u00a0 Consider\r\nthe picture that unfolds in Luke 1:26-38.\u00a0 The angel Gabriel appears to\r\nMary and tells her that she is blessed and highly favored of God, and that she will\r\nconceive and bear a son who in fact will be the long-promised and prophesied\r\nMessiah.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Mary\r\ndoes not doubt the word that she is hearing but asks, <\/span>\"How shall this be,\r\nseeing I know not a man?\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nangel Gabriel responds, <\/span>\"The\r\nHoly Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow\r\nthee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be\r\ncalled the Son of God.\"<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Bear\r\nin mind that the angel is simply a messenger of God sent with God's Word to\r\nher.\u00a0 Here is how -- and when -- the Word is made flesh.\u00a0 <\/span>\"And Mary said,\r\nBehold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word.<\/u>\"<\/span>\u00a0 (Luke 1:38)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Get\r\nit?\u00a0 Mary agrees with the Word of the Lord and speaks that agreement by\r\nsaying \"Be it unto me according to thy Word:\" the Word of the\r\nLord.\u00a0 She is effectively speaking the same creative Word that God spoke\r\nwhen He decreed in Genesis 1:3, <\/span>\"Light be\"<\/span> (or as the KJV reads, <\/span>\"Let there be\r\nlight!\"<\/span>)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Thus\r\nthe Word came into being instantly within her womb.\u00a0 Sure, she had to\r\ncarry Jesus for the normal nine-month term before He was actually born but He\r\nwas instantly conceived when she spoke the Word herself.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Are\r\nyou beginning to get the picture?\u00a0 The Word, spoken by Mary in agreement\r\nwith the Word of the Lord which had been delivered to her, became flesh in her\r\nwomb.\u00a0 It was living.\u00a0 It was eternity, invading time and space with\r\nthe reality of God Himself!\u00a0 Thus, the Word -- Jesus -- became flesh.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

And\r\nJohn witnesses, <\/span>\"and\r\ndwelt among us (and we beheld His Glory, the Glory as of the only begotten of\r\nthe Father,) full of grace and truth.\"<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Jesus\r\nwalked and talked with His disciples.\u00a0 He preached to the\r\nmultitudes.\u00a0 He broke bread with them, and He did it in a manner that\r\nwould testify to them (and they would also be witness to) that He was the Word!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Consider\r\nthe event that had unfolded (see John 6) just prior to Jesus' statement <\/span>\"Except ye eat the\r\nflesh of the Son of man, and drink His blood, ye have no life in you.\"<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\"After\r\nthese things Jesus went over the sea of Galilee, which is the sea of\r\nTiberias.\u00a0 And a great multitude followed him, because they saw his\r\nmiracles which he did on them that were diseased.\u00a0 And Jesus went up into\r\na mountain, and there he sat with his disciples.\u00a0 And the Passover, a\r\nfeast of the Jews, was nigh.\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

(This\r\nis an important point in view of what Jesus is about to do.)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\"When\r\nJesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith\r\nunto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat?\u00a0 And this he\r\nsaid to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do.\u00a0 Philip answered\r\nhim, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one\r\nof them may take a little.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

(Note:\r\nthis is roughly equivalent to seven months' wages in those days)<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

One of his\r\ndisciples, Andrew, Simon Peter\u2019s brother, saith unto him, There is a lad here,\r\nwhich hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so\r\nmany?\u00a0 And Jesus said, Make the men sit down.\u00a0 Now there was much\r\ngrass in the place.\u00a0 So the men sat down, in number about five\r\nthousand.\"<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

(Note:\r\nBy Hebrew tradition this number represents the married men only, not counting\r\nthe unmarried men, all the wives, the women and children.\u00a0 The actual\r\nnumber of those gathered on the hillsides would have been more on the order of\r\n20,000 - 30,000.)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\"And\r\nJesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the\r\ndisciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the\r\nfishes as much as they would.\u00a0 When they were filled, he said unto his disciples,\r\nGather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Therefore\r\nthey gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of\r\nthe five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had\r\neaten.\u00a0 Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did,\r\nsaid, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world.\"<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Before\r\nwe continue with the rest of this picture, let's consider some of the issues\r\nthat have already been presented.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

First,\r\nJohn makes note of the fact that the Passover was \"eggus\":<\/span><\/i><\/b> \"ready\r\nto begin, at hand.\"<\/span>\u00a0 Folks were ready for the seven day period\r\nin which they would eat of the unleavened bread.\u00a0 They would break this\r\nbread and eat of it only -- no leavened bread at all.\u00a0 (Both Orthodox and\r\nMessianic Jews keep this ordinance yet today.\u00a0 They often refer to it as a\r\n\"Seder\" meal.)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

With\r\nthe Passover meal, they would drink water -- not wine.\u00a0 The practice of\r\nwine with the Table of the Lord did not really commence until after Jesus turned\r\nthe water into wine at the marriage of Cana in Galilee, although we see this\r\ncovenant practice long before the days of Moses.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\npoint I'm making is that the Jews were ready to begin Passover with its\r\nunleavened flatbread (matstsah<\/span><\/i><\/b>)\r\n-- symbolic of the fact that there was no leaven of Egypt in what they were\r\neating.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

In\r\na parable that Jesus later shared, He likened the Kingdom of God to leaven and\r\nsaid, <\/span>\"The\r\nkingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three\r\nmeasures of meal, till the whole was leavened.\"<\/span>\u00a0\r\n<\/span>(Matthew\r\n13:33)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

In\r\nso sharing, Jesus was clarifying the fact that the picture of leaven is that of\r\na spiritual force -- whether for evil or for good.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

I realize that the entire picture of the Table of\r\nthe Lord may be a bit of a stretch for some folks trying to associate it with\r\nResurrection from the Dead, but bear with me, folks!\u00a0 <\/span>Jesus came to deliver us from the curse of\r\ndeath and everything associated with it, including the Law of Sin and Death.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

In\r\nthe miracle that unfolded in John 6 where Jesus fed the 5,000, as already\r\nnoted, the loaves that Jesus broke and distributed were artos:<\/span><\/i><\/b> raised bread, whole bread --\r\nleavened bread.\u00a0 There was an impartation of His life that took place\r\nwhich He was demonstrating.\u00a0 There is a multiplying factor in His life; it\r\nis the leaven of the Kingdom of God which multiplies and causes the Word to\r\ngrow and expand within us until we reach the place of being fully\r\n\"raised\" in Him.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Thus\r\nas the miracle of the loaves unfolded, Jesus was demonstrating what He would\r\nsay to the people shortly thereafter, <\/span>\u201cI am the living bread which came down from heaven:\r\nif any man eat of this bread, he shall live forever: and the bread that I will\r\ngive is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.\"<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Do\r\nyou see the significance of what Jesus is saying?\u00a0 <\/span>He is trading His life in order to cancel the\r\nsentence of death resident in the human race.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>As One unworthy of death because He had never sinned, His coming death\r\nand crucifixion on the Cross would \u2014 by proxy \u2014 suffice to cancel the sentence\r\nof death for all those who would accept and acknowledge His sacrifice.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

He\r\nwas willingly giving up His natural life as a human being in order to restore\r\neternity-based and immortal living for those who would walk in Him!\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

We\r\nstill have a lot of ground to cover, so let\u2019s pause for today and pick it up\r\nnext week.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n
