Resurrection From the Dead, Part 13<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

We continue to stress the importance\r\nof being water baptized as well as partaking regularly of the Table of the\r\nLord.\u00a0 <\/span>As already pointed out, these are\r\nthe only two things that Jesus commanded of believers.\u00a0 <\/span>Water baptism is an initial event for those\r\nwho first come to Jesus and accept and acknowledge Him as their Lord and\r\nSavior.\u00a0 <\/span>We\u2019ll talk more about that in a\r\nminute.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The Table of the Lord, on the other\r\nhand, is an ongoing event.\u00a0 <\/span>Paul makes it\r\nclear in his statement, <\/span><\/b>\u201cAs oft as ye eat this bread and\r\ndrink this cup, ye do show the Lord\u2019s death till He come.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/b>Do you see the significance?\u00a0 <\/span>The\r\nmore often we do this, the more often we remind ourselves that Jesus kept our\r\nappointment with death!<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Writing to the Hebrews, Paul makes\r\nthe following statement \u2013 and nothing could be clearer.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Hebrews 9:27-28<\/span><\/u><\/b>: \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/b>And as it is\r\nappointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: So Christ was once\r\noffered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he\r\nappear the second time without sin unto salvation.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/u><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Let\u2019s\r\ntry this again.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Even though death was and has been appointed unto men and women\r\none time, and at the same time to face the Judgment Seat of Christ, for that\r\nreason Jesus offered Himself up on the Cross to die once and for all and take\r\non Himself, the sins of many; and to all those who look for His return will He\r\nappear again [on their behalf] without the accompanying sin: (their deliverance\r\nfrom the penalties of sin will have been accomplished; the wholeness, health\r\nand prosperity that came at Creation will have been restored to them).<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>(Hebrews 9:27-28, RAC Translation and\r\nAmplification)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Does\r\nthat make it clearer for you?<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Water\r\nBaptism marks our agreement and re-enactment of Jesus\u2019 death and\r\nresurrection.\u00a0 <\/span>We participate with Jesus\r\nby being buried with Him in baptism.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

We\r\nalso participate with Him when we come out of the water because we are demonstrating\r\nHis resurrection and \u2014 again, because we are in Him \u2014 our resurrection from the\r\ndead.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

We\u2019ve\r\nalready talked about the fact that Jesus provided death cancellation for all of\r\nus by keeping our appointment with death.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>In fact, we were in Christ when He hung on the Cross, keeping our\r\nappointment.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

When\r\nJesus rose from the dead, coming out of that tomb, we were in Him.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

If\r\nI seem to be repeating myself, I am, but my objective is to say this in as many\r\ndifferent ways as possible so that we all get this revelation.\u00a0 <\/span>I personally believe there is no revelation\r\nmore important than this.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Everything\r\nthat Jesus does in our lives, everything we accomplish, our growth and\r\nspiritual development, our ministry, the miracles that we perform and\r\nparticipate in \u2014 all hang on our being in Christ when He died, and then rose\r\nagain from the dead.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Death\r\ncancellation means we don\u2019t have to put up with death.\u00a0 <\/span>Resurrection from the dead means that death\r\nhas no power or hold of any kind over us.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

It\r\nalso means that we are free from all disease, infirmity, sickness and pain \u2014\r\nsince they all stem from the dying process.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Thus,\r\n<\/span>\u201cHe that eats and feeds on my flesh, and drinks my blood, dwells\r\ncontinually in me, and I [in like manner dwell continually] in him.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Colossians 2:13-15<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/b>And you, being dead<\/span> (nekros<\/span><\/i>:<\/span><\/b>\r\na corpse) <\/span>in your sins<\/span> (paraptoma<\/span><\/i>:<\/span><\/b> intentional and unintentional error, lapse\r\nor deviation) <\/span>and the uncircumcision of your flesh<\/span> (akrobustia<\/span><\/i>:<\/span><\/b>\r\nmetaphor for non-covenantal state<\/span>), hath\r\nhe quickened together<\/span> <\/span>(suzoopoieo<\/span><\/i>:<\/span><\/b> reanimate con-jointly) <\/span>with\r\nhim, having forgiven you all trespasses;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Blotting out<\/span> <\/span>(exaleipho<\/span><\/i>:<\/span><\/b> obliterate)<\/span> <\/span>the\r\nhandwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and\r\ntook it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/p>\r\n\r\n

And<\/span><\/i> having spoiled <\/span>(apekduomai<\/span><\/i>:<\/span><\/b> divesting oneself wholly and completely) <\/span>principalities\r\nand powers<\/span>\r\n(arch\u00e9<\/span><\/i>\r\n<\/span><\/b>& exousia<\/span><\/i>:<\/span><\/b> \u201cchief\u201d authorities [archangels or demonic\r\nauthorities] and \u201csuperhuman\u201d magistrates or controllers \u2014 demonic powers), <\/span>he\r\nmade a show of them openly, triumphing<\/span> (thriambeuo<\/span><\/i>:<\/span><\/b> \u201cnoisy iambus\u201d, to make an exclamatory\r\nprocession) <\/span>over them in it.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Let\u2019s\r\ntry this again.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

And you, having become a corpse because of your errors and\r\nlapses towards God\u2014 both intentional and unintentional \u2014 along with the fact\r\nthat you were living outside of the Covenant, has Jesus reanimated with\r\nHimself, brought back to life and canceled the sentence of death hanging over\r\nyou, having forgiven you of all transgressions, <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Obliterating all of the laws and ordinances that were written\r\nagainst us so as to define sin in us, and everything that was written to define\r\nus negatively; He removed all impediments against us and nailed them to His\r\nCross.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

And, having divested Himself wholly and completely [of all\r\npossible influence] of archangels and demonic authorities, as well as\r\ncontrolling individuals operating with demonic power, Jesus loudly and\r\ntriumphantly publicly put on a show of His victory over them.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>(Colossians 2:13-15, RAC Translation and\r\nAmplification)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\npicture that Paul draws here is that of Jesus loudly proclaiming \u2014 even singing\r\nclamorously and poetically \u2014 and putting on exhibit Satan himself and all his\r\ndemonic forces to show and demonstrate that their power and authority was\r\nfinished.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Satan\r\nhad committed a crime for which he was judged and sentenced.\u00a0 <\/span>His crime was thievery and murder.\u00a0 <\/span>He killed someone \u2014 Jesus \u2014 who was not\r\nsubject to his authority.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

We\r\nhave already noted in the past that under universal law, slaves were considered\r\nas property.\u00a0 <\/span>They were not regarded as\r\nhuman beings, and therefore had no right to protest their treatment by Satan.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Jesus\r\ntook us with Him, in Him, and was in us when He went to the grave and was\r\nburied in the tomb.\u00a0 <\/span>(Colossians 2:12)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

By\r\nthe same token, when Jesus was raised from the dead by the Father, we were\r\nraised in Him, with Him and He in us.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Notice\r\nexactly how Paul phrases this in Colossians 2:13.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Colossians 2:13<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span><\/span>\u201cHe\r\nre-animated [us] con-jointly with Him; and at the same time obliterated,\r\ndemolished and wiped totally clean the decrees of judgment (and accompanying\r\nsentence of death) that had been written against us.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>(RAC Translation & Amplification)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

So\r\nwhat happens each time we eat and drink at the Table of the Lord?\u00a0 <\/span>We eat and drink of the Lord Jesus Christ\r\nHimself.\u00a0 <\/span>Thus, we have \u201cChrist in us!\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

But\r\nnotice, once again, how Paul parallels this to Water Baptism.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Colossians 2:12 (Amplified Version)<\/span><\/u><\/b>: \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b>[Thus\r\nyou were circumcised (and entered into His Covenant) when] you were buried with\r\nHim in [your] baptism<\/u>, in which you were also raised with Him [to a new\r\nlife<\/u>] through [your] faith in the working of God [as displayed] when He\r\nraised Him up from the dead.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

We\r\nenter into the Covenant through Water Baptism.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

(1)<\/span><\/b>\u00a0The corpse of\r\nsin gets buried.\u00a0 <\/span>The \u201cnon-person\u201d slave,\r\nsubject to Satan is put in the grave.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

(2)<\/span><\/b>\u00a0We as new,\r\nreanimated, living, breathing creations \u2014 re-made in the image and likeness of\r\nGod \u2014 come forth from the grave as beings not subject to the Law of Sin and\r\nDeath.<\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

(3)<\/span><\/b>\u00a0Just as Jesus\r\ndid, we make an open show of principalities and powers in triumph and joyful,\r\nnoisy song by virtue of having entered into this New Covenant.<\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

(4)<\/span><\/b>\u00a0Water Baptism\r\nnot only engages the Covenant for us with Him, it also puts on notice Satan,\r\nhis archangels, his magistrates and all his demonic foot soldiers that their\r\npower or authority over us has been broken and demolished once and for all!<\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

(5)<\/span><\/b>\u00a0Without Water\r\nBaptism, even though we were in Christ and He was in us when He died and was\r\nburied, and then rose from the dead, no covenantal step has been taken on our\r\npart to demonstrate our\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>acceptance of\r\nthe New Covenant. <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Without Water\r\nBaptism \u2014 and this is an act of faith \u2014 nothing has taken place that says to\r\nSatan and his armies, \u201cYour authority and power over me has been broken.\u00a0 <\/span>Your right to torment me, your right to steal\r\nfrom me, your right to take my life \u2014 without legal consequence \u2014 has been\r\nbroken by the Blood of the Lamb.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Remember\r\nhow John saw this picture?<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Revelation 12:11 (RAC Translation & Amplification)<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b>And\r\nthey (the faith-filled and faith-acting believers) subdued, conquered and\r\nprevailed over Satan, gaining complete victory by the Blood of the Lamb [shed\r\nthrough his painful beatings and suffering, and death on the Cross] and the\r\nWord of their testimony [the evidence, report and record given] (that they too\r\nwere in Christ when died and rose again] spoken, sung and acted upon in Water\r\nBaptism; <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

And they did not love, adhere to and cling to their souls, their\r\nmindsets and their old thought processes, willingly and determinedly putting\r\ntheir souls, their mindsets and their old thought processes to death.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

What\r\nprecipitated this statement by John?\u00a0\r\n<\/span>What was it that he witnessed when he was transported into the\r\nheavenlies in and by the Spirit?<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Revelation 12:10<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/sup>And I heard a loud\r\nvoice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of\r\nour God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast\r\ndown, which accused them before our God day and night.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\naccuser \u2014 our accuser \u2014 is finished!\u00a0 <\/span>But\r\nthat \u201cfinishing\u201d is accomplished through faith.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>We finish him by the Word of our testimony.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

We\r\ngive evidence, first-hand testimony as\u00a0\r\n<\/span>personal witnesses by virtue of the fact that we were in Christ when he\r\ndied, that we were in Christ when He rose from the dead, and that we have\r\nentered into the new Covenant with Him.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

We\r\nfurther give first-hand testimony to the fact that He became The Lamb That Was\r\nSlain which took away the curse and all our sins.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Finally,\r\nwe can testify that we have acted upon the Covenant extended to us by being\r\nburied with Jesus Christ in baptism; and that we have been raised to New Life\r\nin Christ!!\u00a0 <\/span>We are in Him!\u00a0 <\/span>We are in Him!\u00a0 <\/span>We are in Him!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

So then, if any person is grafted into and immersed in the\r\nAnointed One (and His anointing), he is a new fabrication -- a newly formed\r\nbeing; the previous life [the lifestyle and the old characteristics thereof]\r\nhas perished; you can see and perceive for yourself that every part of one's\r\nbeing is an unprecedented substance -- a new species.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>(II Corinthians 5:17, RAC Translation &\r\nAmplification)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Again\r\nwe have a confirmation of the promise we see in Paul\u2019s general letter to the\r\nHebrews \u2013 that same promise with which we began this Coffee Break.\u00a0 <\/span>We were in Christ Jesus when He died.\u00a0 <\/span>Thus the old \u201cus\u201d HAS indeed died.\u00a0 <\/span>Jesus enabled our original appointment with\r\ndeath to be kept.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

When\r\nJesus rose from the grave, we rose with Him.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>We were in Him, and we ARE in Him today.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>The new and redeemed \u201cus\u201d is alive in Christ minus the death penalty.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

And\r\nwe still have more ground to cover.\u00a0 <\/span>See\r\nyou next week.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

We wrapped up last week with my comments concerning the medical profession. Guess I need to clarify a bit. Two of our daughters work in health care.
