ANOTHER COFFEE BREAK: MIRACLES, Part 4<\/h2><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Things -- miracles -- have been happening on such a\r\nconstant basis, I figured I'd better share some of them before they get\r\nold.\u00a0 We'll do the piece on Angelology next time.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Yeah, Yeah, Rose!\u00a0 Folgers?<\/span>\u00a0\r\nHow can you stand that stuff?\u00a0 Oooooohhhh<\/span>!!\u00a0\r\nFolgers is acid city for me.\u00a0 I got delivered from that canned coffee 40\r\nyears ago.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The rest of you can pour some\u00a0real\u00a0<\/b>coffee\r\n(grin), and take a minute or two with me while I share some of the excitement\r\nthat's going on around here.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

You'll recall that I shared the experience Mom had with\r\nher earrings where she lost one when we were at a barbecue and the angel of the\r\nLord retrieved it and put it in her jewelry case.\u00a0 I also shared with you\r\nthe angelic retrieval our son, Chris, had with the cashier's check that had\r\nbeen shredded.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Here's another one just like those.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

We were in <\/span>Milwaukee<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:City> last\r\nAugust for the Believers' Convention, and Mary Ellen was with us.\u00a0 The\r\nconvention ran (as it usually does) from Monday thru Saturday.\u00a0 We decided\r\nto wait to leave <\/span>Milwaukee<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:City> until Monday and take Sunday for a day of rest.\u00a0 On Sunday\r\nafternoon, Della and Mary Ellen were wandering through some gift shops and Mary\r\nEllen decided to buy a rather nice bracelet and matching earrings for herself<\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

She wore them throughout the rest of the day and decided\r\nshe'd wear them on Monday as she flew home to <\/span>Red Deer<\/span><\/st1:City>, <\/span>Alberta<\/span><\/st1:State><\/st1:place>.\u00a0\r\nSo she put the bracelet and earrings on her nightstand next to the bed when she\r\nwent to sleep that night.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Next morning, as she's getting ready to leave, she\r\nrealizes that the jewelry is missing.\u00a0 Mary Ellen calls the hotel\r\nhousekeeping to see if perhaps the cleaning folks might have picked them up and\r\nmoved them when they came in to make the bed.\u00a0 Nope.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

She and Della spent perhaps 30 - 45 minutes turning everything\r\nin the room inside out looking for the jewelry to no avail.\u00a0 They emptied\r\nsuitcases, handbags, purses -- everything!\u00a0 To say the least, we were\r\nbaffled by the disappearance and decided to do the only thing we knew to do:\r\ncommand angels to go and retrieve them and bring them back to Mary Ellen.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

With Mom's experience with her earring and Chris's\r\nexperience with the cashier's check as fresh reminders, Mary Ellen asked us to\r\nagree with her once again for the return of that jewelry.\u00a0 A few days ago\r\n-- early last week<\/span>, by my recollection -- Mary Ellen\r\nreached in her purse to get her car keys and instead pulled out the\r\nlong-missing jewelry.\u00a0 You should have heard the war-whoop!<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Think the Lord doesn't care about the little things?\u00a0\r\nThink again!\u00a0 It wasn't like this was a huge financial loss -- the jewelry\r\nwas worth probably less than $200 -- but it was the principle of the\r\nthing.\u00a0 It is exciting when you see this kind of activity as a direct\r\nresult of activating the Word of God (Hebrews <\/span>1:14<\/span><\/st1:time>, in this case)\r\nin faith.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Right after I sent out Miracles 3, our grandson, Kyle, was\r\nsitting with us in our overflow room here at <\/span>River<\/span><\/st1:PlaceType> <\/span>Worship<\/span><\/st1:PlaceName> <\/span>Center<\/span><\/st1:PlaceType><\/st1:place> as we were watching the Lakeland Outpouring on the big\r\nscreen.\u00a0 As he was watching the miracles unfold in front of his eyes he\r\nasked, \"Grandpa, do you think the Lord would heal my eyes?\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Kyle was injured in a fall at age two.\u00a0 Apparently\r\nthe fall caused an injury to his left optic nerve resulting in blurred vision\r\nand a constant pulling to the side similar to what we mostly refer to as\r\n\"lazy eye.\"\u00a0 At age six, he underwent a couple of surgeries to\r\ncorrect the damaged optic nerve, but the repairs were not really successful.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

He has continually worn glasses with Coke-bottle lenses\r\ndesigned to correct the muscle weakness, but the glasses haven't been much\r\nhelp.\u00a0 That said, Kyle was pointing to his left eye when he asked,\r\n\"Grandpa, do you think the Lord would heal my eyes?\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Della and I both got out of our seats and laid hands on\r\nhim.\u00a0 I put both hands on his temples with my thumbs covering his eyes and\r\nbegan to declare his healing.\u00a0 Immediately, my hands grew extremely\r\nhot.\u00a0 Kyle's face turned as red as the shirt he was wearing as he likewise\r\ngrew hot under the heat.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

He opened his eyes and looked at me and said,\r\n\"Grandpa, my eyes are healed!\"\u00a0 He turned to Della and said,\r\n\"Grandma, look!\u00a0 My eyes are straight.\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Della asked him if his vision had also cleared, and he\r\nresponded, \"Not completely, but it is clearing and I can see better<\/span>.\"\u00a0 She counseled Kyle to wear his reading\r\nglasses until the complete manifestation of his healing was there and he could\r\nsee without any blurriness.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

When he got home that night -- and it was late -- he ran\r\ninto his mother's bedroom shouting, \"Mom, God healed my eyes!\u00a0\r\nLook!\u00a0 They're straight!\"\u00a0 In the days since, he has told his\r\nfriends -- and anyone else who would pay attention -- that his eyes are healed\r\nand that the Lord has done it.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

It's the right confession on his part -- he's eleven years\r\nold -- and the blurriness is gradually clearing up.\u00a0 He\u00a0will have<\/b>\u00a0perfect\r\nvision!<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

That was on a Friday night a couple weeks ago.\u00a0 The\r\nfollowing Sunday evening, we received a phone call from Della's uncle, Jesse\r\nEvans, who lives in <\/span>Yakima<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:City>.\u00a0 He said, \"Just wanted you to know that your Aunt\r\nNita was taken to the hospital, and she needs prayer.\u00a0 She's having heart\r\nproblems and the doctors are planning to put a stent<\/span>\r\nin one of her major arteries tomorrow morning.\u00a0 They're going to do\r\nsurgery to correct an almost-closed blood vessel coming from the heart.\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Della said to her uncle, \"Should we call Nita and\r\npray for her over the phone, or do we need to go to the hospital and lay hands\r\non her?\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

He responded, \"I think I'll just give you the phone\r\nnumber to her hospital room and you can call her.\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

He gave Della the number, and she called.\u00a0\r\n\"Nita, do you want us to pray for you over the phone?\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\"NO!\" she answered.\u00a0 \"I want you to\r\ncome and lay hands on me and pray for me in person.\"\u00a0 We laughed at\r\nher vehemence and told her that we would get there as soon as we could.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

She was in good spirits when we arrived, but looking\r\npretty pale and weak.\u00a0 After we shared with her for awhile, telling her of\r\nall the miracles taking place, we said, \"Are you ready for us to pray for\r\nyou?\"\u00a0 She nodded her head.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Della took her hands, and I laid one hand on her side and\r\none on her head.\u00a0 Almost before I could get the words \"In the name of\r\nJesus\" out of my mouth, my hands grew hot again just like they had with\r\nKyle.\u00a0 Nita began laughing.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\"My whole side is getting hot,\" she\r\nexclaimed.\u00a0 \"I can feel the healing power of the Lord Jesus.\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Our prayer was pretty straightforward and simple, and a\r\nfew minutes later as we prepared to leave her hospital room, she said,\r\n\"Boy, do I ever feel wonderful!\u00a0 I believe that the Lord has healed\r\nme.\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

I said to her, \"Nita, I believe that when the doctors\r\ntake you into the operating room in the morning, they are going to realize that\r\nyou don't need any surgery.\u00a0 They are going to pronounce you well and send\r\nyou home tomorrow.\u00a0 I believe that.\"\u00a0 She nodded her head and\r\nsaid, \"I agree.\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The next morning when she was wheeled into the operating\r\nroom, the doctors did their pre-checks (or whatever it is they do prior to this\r\nkind of operation) and stopped.\u00a0 \"Mrs. Evans, whatever blockage\r\nexisted yesterday is completely gone.\u00a0 Your blood pressure is normal, and\r\nthere is no evidence of any issue that would require a stent<\/span>\r\nin any blood vessel.\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

By <\/span>2:00 PM<\/span><\/st1:time>, Nita Evans was\r\nreleased from the hospital and sent home.\u00a0 She called us to confirm what\r\nwe had shared the night before.\u00a0 You can believe she was rejoicing over\r\nthe healing.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Folks, I gotta<\/span> tell you.\u00a0\r\nThis is normal Christianity.\u00a0 Stop and consider what Mark wrote in his\r\nGospel.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\"And he said unto them, Go ye into all\r\nthe<\/span> world, and preach the gospel to every creature.\u00a0 He that\r\nbelieveth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be\r\ndamned.\u00a0 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall\r\nthey cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents;\r\nand if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay\r\nhands on the sick, and they shall recover.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was\r\nreceived up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.\u00a0 And they went\r\nforth, and preached every where,\u00a0the Lord working with them, and\r\nconfirming the word with signs following<\/u>.\"<\/span><\/i><\/b>\u00a0 (Mark 16:15-20)<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Lots of people read this passage and skim right over it\r\nwithout grasping the significance of what it says.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

You preach the message of salvation.\u00a0 The sign that\r\nfollows that message is that folks get saved.\u00a0 Preach healing, and people\r\nget healed.\u00a0 Preach deliverance from evil spirits and you get demons\r\nfleeing -- sometimes with some very unusual displays.\u00a0 Preach the baptism\r\nof the Holy Spirit, and you get folks whose language and speech changes.\u00a0\r\nThey begin speaking in languages they've never heard or learned.\u00a0 Preach\r\nmiracles and that's what you get.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Thus Mark tells us that the Lord went with them and\r\nconfirmed the word they preached with the accompanying signs that matched the\r\nWord.\u00a0 That's the way it's supposed to be.\u00a0 If we don't have the\r\naccompanying signs that match the Word we preach, we don't have the proofs of\r\nthe Kingdom we say we're citizens of.\u00a0 There'd better be signs that accompany\r\nthe Word or something is desperately wrong!<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Some people mistakenly think that when you lay hands on\r\nthe sick, you should have instant miracles.\u00a0 Gotta<\/span>\r\nadmit, I prefer the instant miracles.\u00a0 But that's not what Jesus said\r\nwould happen in each case.\u00a0 Come to think of it, it's not what happened in\r\nevery case with Him either.\u00a0 (I'll share more on this in a later Coffee\r\nBreak.)<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

His promise to the believer was,\u00a0<\/span>\"they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall\r\nrecover.\"<\/span><\/i><\/b>\u00a0 The original Greek text uses a\r\npair of words that get translated in our English \"recover.\"\u00a0\r\nThose two words are:\u00a0<\/span>echo<\/span><\/i>, (for:\u00a0begin to amend<\/u>) and<\/span>\u00a0kalos<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/i>(which means:\u00a0well, good, being full<\/u>).\u00a0 Any way\r\nyou slice it, that<\/span> describes a healing process -- not\r\nan instantaneous miracle.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

We cannot allow ourselves to get caught in the trap of\r\nexpecting miracles each and every time we lay hands on the sick, and then be\r\ndisappointed because we didn't see the instantaneous.\u00a0 Like I said, I\r\nprefer the instantaneous manifestation, but I've learned through sixty-plus\r\nyears of walking with the Lord that more often than not, the healing\r\nmanifestations come on a gradual and progressive basis.\u00a0 The emphasis is\r\non the fact that the healing\u00a0does come!<\/b><\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

I've got lots more to share on this, and more miracles to\r\nshare, and we'll get there this next week.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Faith causes the intellect to see, the heart to hear, and\r\nthe will to respond.\u00a0 Faith is not a substitute: it is the very substance\r\nof that which we hope for and expect.\u00a0 Faith comes by hearing, and hearing\r\nby the Word of God.<\/span><\/i><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The Blessing of the Lord: it makes rich and He adds no\r\npainful toil and sorrow!<\/span><\/i><\/b>\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>(Proverbs\r\n10:22)\u00a0 Be blessed!<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\r\n\r\n
