Just a quick word and we'll resume where we left off last week.\r\nBecause of continual issues with ISP's treating these Coffee Breaks like spam\r\nand rejecting the IP address they've been sent from during the past five years\r\nor so, we've been moving to an entirely different server. For the past few\r\nmonths you've been seeing changes as we've moved to the new site -- http:\/\/www.RegnersMorningCoffee.com<\/span><\/a>. We still have some\r\nhiccups to deal with as we migrate our database to the new site. The past two\r\nweeks as we've sent out Coffee Breaks from new server, they've all gone out in\r\ntext form only with much of the HTML formatting turned into gobbledy<\/span>-gook.\r\nBear with us during this transition. We will get things fixed.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

Coffee's\r\non. Got a couple of carafes filled and sitting on the counter. Pour yourself a\r\ncup and pull up a chair.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

John\r\nsays that he<\/span> <\/span>\"saw a woman sitting\r\non a beast, full of blasphemous names....\"<\/span>\r\n<\/span>(We\r\nwill come to the seven heads and ten horns momentarily.)<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Who\r\nis this woman? O.K., let's look at her identifying characteristics. We are\r\ntold, first of all, that she is full of blasphemous onomas<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span> (names).<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

We\r\ndiscussed this in the previous Coffee Break series on<\/span> <\/span>A NEW\r\nONOMA<\/span><\/i><\/b>,\r\nbut, for the sake of quick review, we are told by J.H. Thayer in his Greek-English\r\nLexicon<\/b> that the Greek word, onoma<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>,<\/span> <\/span>\"is used for everything which the name covers: every thought\r\nor feeling which is roused in the mind by the mentioning of the name.\"<\/span><\/b> <\/span><\/b>It\r\nis used to define:<\/span> <\/span>one's rank, authority,\r\ninterests, pleasure, command, deeds, character, title, purpose: in other words,\r\nthe essence of one's being, their makeup, their whole existence.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Once\r\nmore, we are told that the woman is full of blasphemous<\/b> onomas<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>.<\/span><\/b> The word, \"blasphemous,\" comes\r\nfrom the Greek, blasphemia<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>,<\/i><\/b>\r\nand its companion word, blasphemos<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>.\r\nThe use of these words extend well beyond the conventional usage in which we\r\nthink of blasphemy -- that is, as cursing the name of the Lord, or cursing Him,\r\nor speaking evil of Him. Blasphemia<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>\r\nliterally means:<\/span> <\/span>to hurt the reputation or\r\nsmite with (evil) reports or words; to speak evil of, to rail upon<\/span><\/b>;<\/span><\/b> <\/span>it\r\ndenotes the worst type of slander<\/span>: bearing\r\nfalse witness against one who is a brother or sister<\/span><\/b><\/span>.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\r\n

Remember,\r\nthis woman is full of the character, the nature, the very essence of speaking\r\nevil against<\/span> <\/span>\"the saints,\"<\/span> <\/span>and\r\nsmiting <\/span>\"the witnesses of Jesus\"<\/span>\r\n<\/span>with\r\nevil reports or words, and false accusations. Revelation 18:24 tells us that<\/span> <\/span>\"in her was found the blood of<\/span> <\/span>prophets, and of saints, and of all<\/span> <\/span>(the\r\nimplication of this word, \"all,\" refers to all those of God's people)<\/span> <\/span>that were slain upon the earth.\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nvision which John saw further states that the woman had<\/span> <\/span>\"seven heads and ten horns...\"<\/span> <\/span>As\r\nI have noted in previous open letters, the \"seven heads\" are a\r\npicture of the seven ruling spirits which make up the onoma<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span> of the Beast. How do we know\r\nthis? Verse 9 of chapter 17 clearly identifies the seven heads as \"seven\r\nmountains.\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Mountains\r\nhave always been metaphors in middle eastern cultures and languages for\r\n\"ruling spirits.\" In Isaiah 14:13, we are told that Lucifer's boast\r\nis,<\/span><\/span>\r\n<\/span>\"I will sit also upon the mount of the\r\ncongregation...,\"<\/span> <\/span>thus identifying himself as being in\r\nthe place of rulership<\/span> over God's people.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

In\r\nMatthew 21:21, Jesus makes the statement,<\/span>\r\n<\/span>\"if you have faith, and do not doubt, you shall not only do\r\nwhat was done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, 'Be taken\r\nup and cast into the sea,' it shall happen.\"<\/span>\r\n<\/span>(NASB)<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

O.K!\r\nQuestion! To which mountain was Jesus referring? A mountain of rock or some\r\ngrassy slope with trees? Some mountain in the vicinity of Bethany? Not likely.\r\nJesus says<\/span>,<\/span>\r\n<\/span>\"<\/span>if you have faith, and do not doubt<\/u>...\"<\/span> <\/span>Where\r\ndoes doubt get its force of negative power? In unbelief. In the following\r\nstatement, Jesus says,<\/span> <\/span>\u201cAnd all things\r\nwhatsoever you ask in prayer, believing, you shall receive.\u201d<\/span> <\/span>This\r\nparticular mountain, therefore, is a spirit of unbelief.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

So\r\nthe seven heads -- or seven mountains -- of the woman are her makeup, the\r\nessence of her existence: her onoma<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>.<\/span><\/b> Apart from the fact that this is blasphemy\r\nagainst the chosen of the Lord, the fact that there are seven<\/u> mountains\r\n-- or seven<\/u> spirits -- is also uniquely significant.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

In\r\nRevelation 1:4, we are told that John is instructed to write the seven<\/u>\r\nletters as coming from the Seven<\/u> Spirits of God. Verse 20 plainly\r\nidentifies the seven<\/u> golden candlesticks, or lamp stands, as the seven<\/u>\r\nEkklesias<\/span>. These seven Ekklesias<\/span>\r\nrepresent and make up the totality of the Bride. Revelation 13:2 identifies the\r\nBeast on which the woman sits on as also having seven<\/u> heads and ten\r\nhorns.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nfact that the woman has seven spirits, identifies her as a counterfeit bride.\r\nThe seven spirits which make up the onoma<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span> of the Beast are, likewise,\r\nthe counterfeit for the Lord.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Consider\r\nthe fact that Israel, under Moses' and Joshua's leadership, was commanded to\r\ndrive out seven nations. Many of you have heard me share on these seven nations\r\nbefore, but for the sake of review, these nations are: the Hittites, the Hivites<\/span>, the Amorites, the Jebusites<\/span>,\r\nthe Perizzites<\/span>, the Girgashites<\/span>,\r\nand the Canaanites. Each of these nations has a spiritual identity -- a\r\ncharacteristic, or set of characteristics which is a part of the onoma<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span> of\r\nthe Beast.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\ncombination of these seven nations, or seven presiding spirits in the land of\r\nCanaan, usurped and counterfeited everything of the Lord. These spirits sought\r\ncontinually to keep Israel from obtaining its inheritance; they sought to keep\r\nIsrael from the promise of the Lord; they placed themselves in the place of\r\nworship by counterfeiting and usurping the worship of the Lord, substituting\r\ninstead the worship of Baal and Ashtaroth<\/span> -- both of\r\nwhich originated in Babylon; and, ultimately, led Israel into captivity and\r\nservitude in Babylon<\/b>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

[Let\r\nme insert a quick comment in the middle of this narrative to note that the\r\nworship of Baal and Ashtaroth<\/span> is at the core of\r\nIslam. The animosity between Baal and its worshipers and the worshipers of\r\nJehovah God is exactly the same animosity and intense hatred we see by the\r\nworshipers of Allah towards those who worship Father God (and the Lord Jesus\r\nChrist). Allah is none other than a modern incarnation of Baal. This is a god\r\nthat wants to take the followers of the Lord Jesus Christ and dominate them,\r\nforce them into subservience, and -- if they fail to capitulate -- destroy them\r\nby whatever means necessary.]<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

These\r\nspirits had, as one concentrated motivation, the central purpose of keeping\r\nIsrael from a relationship with the Lord God. They sought to create substitutes\r\nfor virtually every gift of the Lord, (I will illustrate some of these things,\r\nshortly) and counterfeited His operations in their midst. They created\r\nenticements to trap God's people, and deceive them into accepting substitutes\r\ninstead of the promises of God. Once snared, God's people were beset by treachery\r\nand fear to keep them from accepting the promises and gifts which the Lord had\r\nfor them.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Isaiah\r\nidentifies the onoma<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>\r\nof these seven spirits first, as the king of Babylon (in Isaiah 14:4), and\r\nthen, (in verse 12) as Lucifer, himself. Ezekiel refers to him (in Ezekiel\r\n28:2) as the king of Tyre<\/span>, which we would call a\r\n\"first,\" or capital city of the Amorites. Ezekiel then turns and\r\naddresses Sidon, which was also referred to as being among the\r\n\"first\" cities of the Amorites.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Before\r\nwe consider Tyre<\/span> and Sidon, and their significance,\r\nlet's review -- one more time -- the picture of the seven spirits.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

First,\r\nwe have the Lord described by John as<\/span>\r\n<\/span>\"the Seven Spirits of\r\nGod.\"<\/span> <\/span>His onoma<\/i><\/span>,\r\ntherefore, consists of seven very identifiable spirits with distinct\r\ncharacteristics of their own. Since we know that Satan is not, and never has\r\nbeen, a creator (he, instead, attempts to counterfeit the character and nature\r\nof God as a ruse to deceive and subjugate mankind under himself), it is clear\r\nthat a major part of his counterfeiting would include seven spirits, whose\r\ncharacter, nature, and operation substitute something false for the real\r\noperation or function of the Seven Spirits of God.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

We\r\ntherefore have a substitute, and counterfeit, bridegroom who sits in the place\r\nof \"calling\" a bride to himself. As Isaiah noted in his prophecy,\r\nLucifer bragged, <\/span>\"I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation.\"<\/span> <\/span>This\r\nis usage of a common Hebrew metaphor which essentially means,<\/span> <\/span>\"I will sit in the authoritative place of the Bridegroom. I\r\nwill be a party to the calling of His Bride.\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nHebrew, in this verse, is rendered<\/span>,<\/span>\r\n<\/span>\"I will sit in mowadah<\/i><\/span>.\"<\/span> <\/span>The\r\nword, mowadah<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>,<\/span><\/b> means: the calling and assembling\r\ntogether of the betrothed by the Bridegroom<\/u>. The implications of his\r\ndemonic braggadocio are clear. Lucifer's boast is that he will twist the Lord's\r\ncalling of His Bride for his own purposes.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

O.K.,\r\nthen. If Lucifer is the counterfeit bridegroom, where, or what is the\r\ncounterfeit bride?<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Since\r\nthe Bride's love-relationship to the Bridegroom has also been represented by\r\nsevens throughout Scripture (in Moses' Tabernacle with the golden candlestick\r\nand its seven branches, the seven golden candlesticks in John's Revelation, and\r\nthe seven Ekklesias<\/span> to whom he wrote), the\r\ncounterfeit bride is also represented by sevens.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Hence,\r\nJohn sees the counterfeit bride as a woman with seven heads (we will get to the\r\nten horns, shortly). He is told by the angel of the Lord that these heads are\r\nsymbolic of seven mountains.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Since\r\nmountains are metaphors in eastern thought for presiding spirits (Paul uses the\r\ndescriptive word, kosmokrator<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>,\r\nin the Greek text of Ephesians 6), the angel of the Lord is telling John that\r\nthe counterfeit bride is likewise manifested through seven spirits, whose\r\ncollective existence is the totality of her onoma<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>. Her onoma<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>, like that of the Bride of\r\nthe Lord Jesus Christ, is reflective of, and identified with, the counterfeit\r\nbridegroom, Lucifer.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nword, \"horn,\" in the Greek text is: keras<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>.<\/span><\/b>\r\nThis word (with only one exception in the N.T.) always occurs in its\r\nmetaphorical sense as: a symbol of strength and courage; a means of defense;\r\na means of deliverance<\/u>.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

(Before\r\nI continue, let me pause momentarily to say that the first part of this picture\r\nwhich I am sharing may appear to be contradictory with verses 10 - 13 of\r\nRevelation 17. These verses do not contradict in any way, the overall picture,\r\nso please bear with me until I can share the whole concept.)<\/span><\/i><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

To\r\nrepeat myself, the woman (in Revelation) is described as having seven heads and\r\nten horns. The seven heads are the totality of her onoma<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span> -- her makeup, her character,\r\nher identity. The ten horns are the means by which she defends herself (and we\r\nwill get into this at a later time), the symbols of her strength, the avenues\r\nby which she escapes detection -- the means of her deliverance.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nsignificance, however, is not just on the horns, nor on the heads, but on the\r\ncollective total of these two: the number, 17. The heads and the horns are\r\nlinked together to demonstrate -- as John is being shown this vision -- the\r\nfact that this is the counterfeit bride. The real Bride also has the number,\r\n17, throughout Scripture from Genesis to Revelation. The real Bride is\r\nillustrated as the counterpart of the Lord Jesus Christ by virtue of the fact\r\nthat Jesus' number is 8, the number of the Paraklete<\/span>\r\n-- who is doing the work of processing, preparation and thlipsis<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span> in her life -- is 9. The\r\nprepared and readied Bride, therefore, is the collective total of the\r\nBridegroom, 8, (whose character and makeup are now part and parcel of the\r\nBride) and the preparation process of the Paraklete<\/span>,\r\n9, making her number, 17!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\ncounterfeit bride must appear as the real bride to an onlooking<\/span>\r\nworld. She, therefore, also has the number 17. It is important to remember\r\nJesus\u2019 admonition that <\/span>\u201cif it were possible, the very elect could be deceived.\u201d<\/span> <\/span>(Mark\r\n13:22) The striking difference is in how this counterfeit bride achieves a\r\nfacade of the real Bride.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nreal Bride is called by the Lord Jesus Christ, whose number is 8. Through\r\ntribulation, through testing, through a process of overcoming to which she is\r\nsubjected by the Paraklete<\/span>, she receives His number\r\n-- the number of the Holy Spirit, which is 9. She is transformed into a ready\r\nand worthy counterpart of the Lord Jesus Christ, and thus becomes the complete\r\nnumber, 17.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\ncounterfeit bride, on the other hand, begins with the seven spirits of the one\r\nto whom she has given her allegiance and owes her very existence. The\r\ncounterfeit bride is not a bride in the midst of a preparation process. She is\r\nnot a yielded and pliable bride. She cannot be conformed to the image of the\r\nreal Bridegroom since He is not her betrothed, nor is He her husband. In order\r\nto survive, therefore, and achieve the ends of her true husband, she must be\r\nforceful, pushy, domineering, continuously striving to get her way,\r\nmanipulating through witchcraft and sorceries, using enticements and\r\nenchantments to gain control, and repeatedly luring others into adultery with\r\nher -- using the ten horns which are her means of defense.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Are\r\nyou beginning to get the picture?<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\ntrue Bride of Christ, therefore, can easily discern the difference between\r\nthose who are truly allied with the Lord, and those who have the \u201cform of\r\nGodliness.\u201d The true Bride gains her intimate relationship with the Lord Jesus\r\nChrist through suffering the same trials and afflictions that He suffered. The\r\ncounterfeit bride \u2013 while giving all the outward appearance of being a part of\r\nthe true Bride \u2013 avoids thlipsis<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>\r\nlike the plague, and promotes the doctrines of \u201cgettin<\/span>\u2019\r\noutta<\/span> here.\u201d The counterfeit bride often says all the\r\nright things, but when confronted with her need for being conformed NOW to the\r\nimage of Christ, does a tap dance to avoid any real dealings.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Do\r\nyou understand, yet, who<\/b> this \"Mystery Babylon\" really is?<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n
