ANOTHER COFFEE BREAK: BABYLON IS FALLING DOWN, Part 3<\/h2><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Della was in Canada last weekend to minister to a sister in the\r\nLord I've written about numerous times throughout the years in these Coffee\r\nBreaks! Eileen Finnman<\/span> is the sister that we worked\r\nwith for six years at the Calgary Stampede. She had what was called the Country\r\nKitchen. We did breakfasts, coffee (and other beverages) and -- most of all --\r\nEileen's famous cinnamon buns. During those years we made enough money from the\r\nkitchen to send hundreds of kids to summer camp, and the majority of them got\r\nto know the Lord as a result.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Eileen\r\nhas been struggling with physical issues of late -- issues that the doctor\r\nhasn't had answers for -- until just a couple of weeks ago when he diagnosed\r\nher with a very aggressive form of cancer and gave her a very short time. We\r\nrefused to accept that prognosis. Della took some vacation time and flew from\r\nAnchorage to Calgary. She went with Mary Ellen and Doreen to the hospital. When\r\nshe got there, she called me; I called George Robinson (who has seen a fabulous\r\nseries of healings -- more than 10 people healed completely -- in the last 30\r\ndays), and we joined together in a prayer of agreement for Eileen's healing.\r\nThere was a tangible manifestation of healing for Eileen before Della left the\r\nhospital room that night, and the healing process continues as I write this\r\nCoffee Break.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Meanwhile,\r\nthe Lord is honoring Della in her labors at Zales<\/span>\r\nJewelers in Anchorage. The corporation is preparing to honor her (and her\r\nstore) for bringing that store to the number 3 position in sales across the\r\nnation. Considering that the store ranked nowhere among hundreds of stores\r\nnationwide before Della took over eight months ago, and now is number 3 is a\r\ntestimony to the favor of the Lord. Administration has been Della's gift even\r\nbefore I knew her, and we are celebrating 30 years together today!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

I\r\nfrequently tell Della that I thank God with every breath I breathe that He\r\nbrought her into my life and gave her to be my wife! She is truly a gift from\r\nthe Lord to me!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Anyway,\r\nGood Morning to you! Ready for the day?<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Let's\r\npick up where we left off last week. We were talking about the significance of\r\nthe seven mountains.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Revelation\r\n17:10, 11 states (in illustrating the seven mountains),<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\"And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is,\r\nand the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short\r\nspace. And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the\r\nseven, and goeth<\/span> into perdition.\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

One\r\nmust remember that the whole of the Revelation, which John wrote, was addressed\r\nto the seven Ekklesias<\/span>. I will remind you that the\r\nseven letters precisely describe the attributes of the seven nations which\r\ninhabited Canaan. The purpose of these letters is to bring the Bride to the\r\nplace of a total overcoming of those seven spirits which were epitomized in the\r\nseven nations. The seven nations, the seven mountains, and the seven spirits\r\nare illustrated in the seven kings.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

John\r\nis told<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\"five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet\r\ncome; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.\"<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>This\r\nis an extremely important picture when considering the seven nations, the seven\r\nspirits, the seven kings.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\"Five\r\nare fallen...\"<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Which\r\nfive? The Hittites, the Hivites<\/span>, the Jebusites<\/span>, the Girgashites<\/span>, and\r\nthe Canaanites<\/span>.\u00a0\"....<\/span><\/span>and one is...\"<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Which\r\nnation, or king, was the one described as being in power at the time of John's\r\nrevelation?<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Simple!\r\nThe Amorites.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

If\r\nyou have heard me share, or read any of the revelation which the Lord has given\r\nto us over the last thirty or so years on the seven nations which inhabited\r\nCanaan, and their relationship to the\r\nseven letters, you will remember (and I have described this background and\r\nhistory in fairly extensive detail in the series,\u00a0SEVEN NATIONS, SEVEN\r\nLETTERS<\/b>) that the doctrine of the Nicolaitans<\/span>\r\ncame straight out of the spirits of the Amorites and the Perizzites<\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

It\r\nwas a doctrine divided into two opposite parts with a single objective. (I will\r\nnot try to cover all of the historical evidence relative to the Nicolaitans<\/span> in this letter, since it is covered in that Coffee\r\nBreak series -- and soon to appear in book form.)<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\ndoctrine of the Nicolaitans<\/span> was the doctrine of\r\nhumanism: \"Man is God.\" \"Man is the final arbiter of\r\nhimself.\" That which was drawn from the Amorites, came through the Sadducees\r\nwhen they accepted Jesus Christ as the Messiah, but clung to their Judaistic<\/span> traditions, legalism, and particularly,\u00a0hierarchical\r\ngovernment<\/u>. This was the kind of government which established leadership\r\n(in the Ekklesias<\/span>) through apostles, prophets,\r\nevangelists, pastors and teachers (see note) -- at first -- and finally,\r\nthrough bishops, and other ascending tiers of hierarchy. It traded Ekklesia<\/span> for \"church,\" and put men in the\r\nposition of saying how, what, why, when and where God would operate. Intimacy\r\nwith the Lord was replaced by an accumulation of men in various strata who\r\nserved as \"go-betweens\" in interpreting the will and desire of the\r\nLord.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

(**Note:\r\nThis should not in any way be construed as to suggest that apostles, prophets,\r\nevangelists, pastors and teachers are not valid ministry functions.\u00a0They\r\nabsolutely are!<\/b>\u00a0It's just that the Lord Jesus Christ never intended\r\nfor them to become\u00a0offices<\/i>\u00a0and\u00a0titles<\/i>\u00a0which\r\nsupplanted individual relationship with Him. The words,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\"apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and\r\nteachers,\"<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>simply express facets of the Lord Jesus\r\nChrist and His ministry to the Body.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Those\r\nsent as \"apostles\" are simply commissioned by the Lord Jesus Christ\r\nto fulfill the role of establishing those purposes to which He sends them.\r\nLikewise, those sent as prophets simply become that word and speak forth which\r\nthey have both seen and heard, by and through His Spirit.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nsame is true for each of the five ministry facets of Jesus. He never intended\r\nfor them to become hierarchical offices from which power and authority would be\r\nexerted over those people coming into a\r\nplace of relationship with Him. Those fulfilling each of the five facets of His\r\nministry were\u00a0expected to work themselves out of a job<\/u>\u00a0by\r\nsharing that life which He transmitted by His Spirit. The recipients would grow\r\ninto the same place of relationship, and the five ministry functions would\r\ncontinue in others until intimate relationship<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>(\"that which was perfect\")<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>for\r\nthe body of Christ was achieved. In the place of intimacy with Him, there is no\r\nneed for apostles, prophets, evangelists, etc., because He is all of those\r\nthings in one.)<\/span>\r\n<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nopposite side of Nicolaitanism<\/span> came out of the Perizzites<\/span> through the ex-(?)Pharisees. Like the ex-(?)Sadducees,\r\nthey clung to many of their Judaistic<\/span> tenets, the\r\nlegalism and traditions of the past and, especially,\u00a0democracy<\/u>!\r\nThis was the system which gave people the right to choose their leaders through\r\na system of voting. They voted on their elders, their deacons, their pastors,\r\netc., etc., etc., ad nauseam. The concept of being called, appointed, and\r\nanointed by the Lord -- with, or without the approval of other brethren and\r\nsisters -- was absolutely missing.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nprimary criterion in the determination was fear: The Fear of Man. If people\r\nfeared power being vested in \"a man,\" they chose a\r\n\"democratic\" system. If they feared that truth and genuine authority\r\nwould be weakened and watered down in the multitudes, they chose hierarchical\r\nsystems. In either case, the determining factor was \"man\" in power.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Now,\r\nyou say, What does that have to do with<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\"....and one is...., and the other is not yet come; and\r\nwhen he cometh, he must continue a short space.\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Again,\r\nthe answer is staring us in the face.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

When\r\nJohn was receiving the Revelation, the spirit of the Amorites (the\r\n\"king,\" or presiding spirit of the Amorites) was just coming into\r\nfull bloom. It manifested itself through the Nicolaitan<\/span>\r\ndoctrine of hierarchy, and reached the apex of its power and influence when the\r\nRoman emperor, Theodosius, declared Christianity to be \"the religion of\r\nthe state\" in 378 A.D. He thereupon declared himself to be \"The\r\nBishop of Rome.\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nhierarchical government, which was the backbone of what we have referred to as\r\n\u201cRoman Catholicism,\u201d became the pattern structure for virtually all churches\r\nfor approximately 1,400 years. Even when Martin Luther broke away,\r\n\"Lutheran\" church government (and its successors) remained the same.\r\nYes, they disposed of \"popery,\" and \"cardinals,\" and much of\r\nthe upper-upper echelons, but the presiding spirit remained the same. Not until\r\n\"congregational\" government was introduced did the spirit of the Perizzites<\/span> begin to emerge as a force and power in the life\r\nof corporate churchdom<\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Allow\r\nme to insert a parenthetical note here for a minute. I realize that the things\r\nI'm sharing in this discussion probably run counter to what many of you have\r\nbeen taught and have considered \"gospel\" all of your lives. This IS a\r\nbreak with a lot of eschatological doctrine and teaching many have heard. If\r\nyou have difficulty with what I'm sharing, please put it on the shelf for the\r\nmoment. Don't just throw it all out. Give Holy Spirit time to bring revelation\r\nto you.<\/span><\/i><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nspirit of the Perizzites<\/span> is still very much alive in\r\na substantial part of the so-called \"charismatic\" church-world,\r\nalthough some of the tenets and aspects of the Amorites' spirit and operation\r\nare a very active force in various organizations. The spirit of the Perizzites<\/span>, which we know better as \"democracy,\"\r\nis a force at work in the world today.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

This\r\nis the<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\"king\"<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>which\r\nJohn saw, that was<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\"....the\r\nother..\"<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>which was<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\"not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short\r\nspace.\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

It\r\nis a mistake to assume that the sixth king, or spirit -- the spirit of the\r\nAmorites\/Sadducees\/Nicolaitans<\/span> -- would be driven\r\nfrom power when the seventh king, or spirit -- the spirit of the Perizzites<\/span>\/Pharisees\/Nicolaitans<\/span>\r\n-- came into power. Both spirits have the same goal. Both kings are subservient\r\nto, and take<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>their orders from the King of Babylon.\r\nBoth kings have\u00a0humanism<\/i>\u00a0at the very core of their purpose and\r\nfunction. Both kings have a principal objective is to get \"man\" to\r\nmake the final decision -- and to ace the Lord Jesus Christ right out of the\r\npicture. Thus, both kings coexist today, and function cooperatively.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

We\r\nsee it daily in the workings of democracy and hierarchy. (We even have a trite\r\nsaying in America which is accepted as gospel, \u201cDemocracy may not be the best\r\nway of governing, but it is way ahead of whatever is in second place.\u201d No it\r\nisn't! And America was not founded as a democracy: it was founded as a Republic\r\nfollowing Biblical patterns established with and by Moses.)<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

In\r\norder to properly understand the \"King\" of Babylon to whom Isaiah\r\nprophesied, the \"woman,\" which John is shown in his Revelation by the\r\nangel of the Lord, and the picture given us by Ezekiel as he prophesies against\r\nthe King of Tyre<\/span> and Sidon, with the relationship of\r\nthese prophetic illustrations to one another, we need to back up in time and\r\nreview certain historical items and happenings. In order to show you this\r\npicture clearly, I will take certain events out of chronological order, and\r\nthen piece them together.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

First,\r\nlet's consider Ezekiel's prophecy to the King of Tyre<\/span>,\r\nand then to Sidon. He describes this \"king\" as having been<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\"in Eden, the Garden of God.\"<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>(see\r\nEzekiel 28:13) Obviously, Ezekiel was not addressing a literal man in this\r\nprophecy.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Eden\r\nhad long since been hidden, and entrance to Eden had been blocked by an angel\r\nwith a flaming sword. With the great deluge and Flood which inundated the\r\nearth, geographic features changed. Noah and his family would have been the\r\nonly living beings on the face of the earth to have even the remotest\r\napproximation of an idea where Eden once lay.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nprophecy was directed, therefore, to the only other individual who could have\r\nbeen in the Garden with Adam and Eve, and the Lord: Satan himself -- the former\r\narchangel known as \"Lucifer\"\r\n-- the King of Babylon -- the King of Tyre<\/span> -- the\r\nKing of Sidon. They are all one and the same.<\/span>\r\n<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nquestion then arises, \"Why refer to the same being, Satan, as the King of\r\nBabylon, or the King of Tyre<\/span>, or the King of\r\nSidon?\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nanswer is quite simple. Satan is the master, the controller, the force behind\r\nthese thrones. When Ezekiel takes up his prophecy against Tyre<\/span>,\r\nhe begins by addressing thePrince<\/i><\/span>\u00a0of Tyre<\/span>, as opposed to the\u00a0King<\/i>\u00a0of Tyre<\/span>. The differentiation, in this case, is due to the fact\r\nthat this\u00a0Prince<\/i>\u00a0is under the rulership<\/span>\r\nand control of the\u00a0King.<\/i><\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nPrince is the administrator, so to speak, the one who carries out the commands\r\nof the King. The Prince would be defined using the same Greek terminology which\r\nPaul used in Ephesians 6,\u00a0Kosmokrator<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>:<\/span><\/i>\u00a0a\r\nworld-ruler of darkness; a lord of this world; a prince of this age; in other\r\nwords, a prince among demons.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

So,\r\nwhy identify with Tyre<\/span> or Sidon? It is absolutely\r\ncrucial to our understanding that we see why the Lord has given us this\r\npicture.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

It's\r\nobvious that we're not going to have the time to finish this part of that\r\ndiscussion today, so this is where we will resume next week.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n
