David\u2019s Tabernacle Restored, Part 5<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

You will remember that\r\nthere are three specific events in the Word in which we are told that God\u2019s\r\nintent and purpose was to restore again the Tabernacle of David.\u00a0 <\/span>He never said he was going to again restore\r\nthe Temple of Solomon.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Men have attempted to\r\ndo that several times throughout history, and it continues to be destroyed each\r\ntime.\u00a0 <\/span>Why?\u00a0 <\/span>Because a temple \u2014 the real Temple of God \u2014\r\nis not made with hands.\u00a0 <\/span>It is a divine\r\ncreation which takes place in the realm of the Spirit.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Take a look at the\r\nprophecies.\u00a0 <\/span>Let\u2019s start with God\u2019s\r\nreason for raising up the Tabernacle of David.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>We quoted Amos last week, but here it the central theme of Amos\u2019\r\nprophecy.\u00a0 <\/span>Recall what we quoted from\r\nChaim BenTorah last week, and then put that in context with the following.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Amos 9:11-12<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span>In that day will I\r\nraise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen, and close up the breaches\r\nthereof; and I will raise up his ruins, and I will build it as in the days of\r\nold: \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>That they may possess\r\nthe remnant of Edom, and of all the heathen, which are called by my name, saith\r\nthe LORD that doeth this.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/span>This is spectacularly significant in view of\r\nIsaiah\u2019s prophecy many years earlier.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Isaiah 16:5<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>And\r\nin mercy shall the throne be established: and he shall sit upon it in truth in\r\nthe tabernacle of David, judging, and seeking judgment, and hasting\r\nrighteousness.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

You\r\nwill remember our earlier sharing on the fact that only five kings of Judah\r\narose, after the days of David and Solomon, who restored the ministry of praise\r\nand worship as it had been in David\u2019s time.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>Each time that ministry was abandoned, the nation fell to its\r\nenemies.\u00a0 <\/span>Israel \u2014 the remaining tribes \u2014\r\nwas already in the throes of alternating periods of contending with their\r\nenemies, famine, pestilence and captivity\u00a0\r\n<\/span>Because there was no crown of the presence of the Lord among them \u2014 no\r\nreal authority of God present \u2014 seekers after leadership recognition began to\r\nabound.\u00a0 <\/span>Hence, the rebuke of Amos\r\nconcerning the \u201cshow-boating\u201d that took place at Bethel and Gilgal.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

A\r\nlittle history is in order to understand the significance of these two places.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Genesis\r\n12 gives us an early picture of Bethel as the first place where Abram built an\r\naltar unto the Lord, calling it \u201cThe House of God.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>It became a focal point in Israel for\r\ncenturies as a place where one could find the presence of the Lord.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Gilgal,\r\non the other hand, was the place west of the Jordan where Joshua and the elders\r\nof Israel placed twelve stones, signifying what God had done for them in drying\r\nup the Jordan River so that all Israel could cross and begin the conquest of\r\nCanaan.\u00a0 <\/span>Gilgal signified the mighty hand\r\nof God.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Gilgal\r\nbecame the place where the prophet Samuel offered up sacrifices and burnt\r\nofferings on behalf of Israel.\u00a0 <\/span>It became\r\na place of anointing, and a place where the authority of God was being\r\nmanifested.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

In\r\ncase you are wondering, the old Tabernacle of Moses was set up about 10 miles\r\nnorth of Bethel in a very secluded spot.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>This took place during the time of the conquest of Canaan (See Joshua\r\n18), and it remained there throughout Joshua\u2019s time, as well as the period of\r\nthe Judges \u2014 several hundred years.\u00a0 <\/span>The\r\nArk of the Covenant was taken from Moses\u2019 Tabernacle by the Philistines (see I\r\nSamuel 4), and was never returned to its old resting place.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

So,\r\nwhy the focus on Bethel and Gilgal, and not Shiloh where the Tabernacle of\r\nMoses was set up?\u00a0 <\/span>The answer is pretty\r\nsimple.\u00a0 <\/span>Both Bethel and Gilgal marked\r\nprominent points in what God had ordered for this land of promise.\u00a0 <\/span>The Ark was long gone by the time Amos\r\nprophesied.\u00a0 <\/span>In fact it was in hiding,\r\nhaving been hidden by the prophet Jeremiah prior to Israel being taken into captivity.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

But\r\nwe are getting ahead of ourselves.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

We\u2019ve\r\nalready talked about David\u2019s anxiety to recover the Ark of the Covenant, but\r\nbecause of his understanding of its significance, he brought to it a very\r\nprominent location on one of the seven hills that make up the city of\r\nJerusalem.\u00a0 <\/span>He wanted to ensure that the\r\ncovenant was visible for all Israel to see \u2014 that whether they could actually\r\nsee the simple tent that made up his tabernacle, they would certainly know that\r\nthe Ark was on display for the nation.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

We\r\nwon\u2019t go back over all the history of events that unfolded once the Ark took up\r\nresidence on Moriah, and then Zion, except to highlight something that has been\r\nlost in our focus and understanding: the crown of God\u2019s rulership in the\r\nland.\u00a0 <\/span>What makes this significant is\r\nthat the crown is directly related to the presence of ongoing praise and\r\nworship to the Lord.\u00a0 <\/span>Maybe you think\r\nI\u2019ve lost it, or at least gotten way off track here, so lets<\/span>\r\ntake a look at a much later prophesy.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

And to the angel \u2014 the Heaven-sent messenger \u2014 in the Ekklesia\r\nin Philadelphia, write the following:\u00a0\r\n<\/span>this message comes from the One who is Holy, He who is Truth (and speaks\r\nnothing but Truth), He who holds the Key of David, He who opens and no man\r\nshuts, He who shuts and no man opens;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

I am well aware and know your labors, your deeds, and that in\r\nwhich you continue to expend your energies; see and consider that I have placed\r\nbefore you an opening door of access, and no one can shut or lock it: You are\r\nin possession of a small amount of strength, force and power because you have\r\nmaintained My Word and have not contradicted or rejected in any way My onoma\r\n(character, personality, makeup or the essence of Who I AM).<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Watch and consider the fact that I will cause those who assemble\r\nthemselves together under the direction or inspiration of the Accuser of the Brethren\r\nwho say falsely that they belong to the nation of Believers and lie to your\r\nface; Watch!\u00a0 <\/span>I will cause them to do\r\nobeisance and reverence before your footstool, and to know, perceive and have\r\nrevelation of the fact that I love you (and that we have a love-relationship\r\ntogether),<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

In that you have cheerfully kept, guarded and maintained the\r\nWord of My Endurance and constancy; therefore, I will keep and protect you in\r\nthe midst of the hour of testing that is about to come upon the entire world,\r\ndesigned to test, scrutinize and discipline all those who dwell upon the earth.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Once again, watch!\u00a0 <\/span>I am\r\nappearing lightly and suddenly: seize, take hold of with strength and retain\r\nthat place of rulership you have come to [in the place of praise and worship]; let\r\nno one contaminate that rulership or get a hold of your crown.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>(Revelation 3:7-11, RAC Translation and\r\nAmplification)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

I\u2019m\r\npausing here in this narrative from Revelation to emphasize certain very\r\nimportant points that the Lord makes in His commendation to this Ekklesia.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Notice,\r\nfirst of all the reference to the Key of David.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>Have you ever stopped to consider that this is the only place in\r\nScripture where we have this phrase, \u201cthe Key of David?\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>What was David\u2019s key for in the first place?\u00a0 <\/span>Why would the Lord make such a point of this\r\nin the letter to the Ekklesia in Philadelphia?<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Let\u2019s\r\nsee if we can break this down.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/u><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Acts 13:22-23<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0\r\n<\/span><\/span>And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be\r\ntheir king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the son<\/i>\r\nof Jesse, a man <\/u><\/span>after<\/span><\/u>\r\n<\/span><\/u>mine own heart<\/span><\/u>, which shall fulfil\r\nall my <\/span><\/u>will<\/span><\/u>. \u00a0<\/span><\/sup>Of this\r\nman\u2019s seed hath God according to his<\/i> promise raised unto Israel a\r\nSaviour, Jesus:<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

I\r\nhaven\u2019t retranslated or amplified this passage, but let me simply point out\r\nsome key words.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The\r\nphrase, \u201ca man after mine own heart\u201d refers in the Greek text to someone who\r\nchased after fulfilling the thoughts and purposes, and completing the very\r\nheart\u2019s desires \u2014 the most intimate desires \u2014 of the Lord God.\u00a0 <\/span>The reference to David as being someone who\r\nwould fulfill all God\u2019s will only amplifies and emphasizes the fact that\r\nDavid\u2019s number one purpose was to make the Lord complete in His desire for a\r\npeople whom He had designed and set apart to Himself.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

In\r\nother words, David knew in the core of his being the desire of the Lord that\r\nhad existed since Creation for a people with whom He could be One.\u00a0 <\/span>Based on my own conversations with David the\r\nfirst time I went to Heaven, the experiences he had while sitting on the\r\nhillsides, watching the sheep and just ministering to the Lord on his harp gave\r\nhim insight into the very heart of the Lord like nothing else could ever do.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

It\r\nprepared him for the time some 13 years later (after Samuel anointed him to\r\nbecome King over Israel) to begin the recovery of the Ark of the Covenant and\r\nthe establishing of the 24-hour praise and worship that replaced the Golden\r\nCandlestick in Moses\u2019 Tabernacle.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

David\r\nhad seen into the heart of the Lord and knew just how He responded to those\r\nwhose focus would be on ministering to Him.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>Isaiah also saw into the heart of the Lord and prophesied the following:<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Isaiah 40:29-31<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span>He giveth\r\npower to the faint; and to them that have<\/i> no might he increaseth<\/span> strength. Even the youths shall faint and be\r\nweary, and the young men shall utterly fall: <\/o:p><\/sup><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their<\/i>\r\nstrength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be\r\nweary; and<\/i> they shall walk, and not faint.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

This\r\nreads a bit differently in the Hebrew text.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

But the ones waiting upon the Lord shall change and increase in\r\nstrength; they shall grow wings as eagles, they shall run and not tire, they\r\nshall proceed and not hunger. <\/span>(The Apostolic Bible)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

This\r\nis where it gets interesting.\u00a0 <\/span>This concept\r\nof \u201cwaiting upon the Lord\u201d comes from a Hebrew root (<\/span>qavah<\/span><\/i><\/b>) which means: <\/span>to wait or\r\nlook eagerly for, to linger for<\/span>.\u00a0 <\/span>It is a word\r\nborn out of desire.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Thus,\r\nthose who look eagerly for and linger for the heart\u2019s desire of the Lord to be\r\nmet will, themselves, experience renewal, provision, strength and stamina.\u00a0 <\/span>Put that together with David\u2019s desire to see\r\nthat the heart of the Lord was ministered to, and you begin to understand \u201cthe\r\nKey of David.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>You begin to see the\r\nemphasis of \u201cthe crown\u201d in the letter to Philadelphia.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

This\r\nbrings us back to the prophecy of Amos.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>Notice, again, that the Lord isn\u2019t saying that He will rebuild the\r\nTemple of Solomon, despite the fact that that temple had the expanded praise\r\nand worship David had ordered and ordained before he turned the throne over to\r\nSolomon.\u00a0 <\/span>Praise and worship on a\r\ncontinuous basis came out of the heart\u2019s desire of David to minister to the\r\nLord.\u00a0 <\/span>God was David\u2019s focus.\u00a0 <\/span>Pleasing and fulfilling Him was David\u2019s\r\npursuit.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Watch.\u00a0 <\/span>Notice the condition of Israel when Amos\r\nprophesies.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Amos 9:8-15<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>Behold,\r\nthe eyes of the Lord GOD are<\/i> upon the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy\r\nit from off the face of the earth; saving that I will not utterly destroy the\r\nhouse of Jacob, saith the LORD. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/sup>For, lo, I will\r\ncommand, and I will sift the house of Israel among all nations<\/u>, like as corn<\/i>\r\nis sifted in a sieve, yet shall not the least grain fall upon the earth. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/sup>All the sinners of my\r\npeople shall die by the sword, which say, The evil shall not overtake nor\r\nprevent us.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is\r\nfallen, and close up the breaches thereof; and I will raise up his ruins, and I\r\nwill build it as in the days of old<\/span><\/u>: <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/sup>That they may possess\r\nthe remnant of Edom, and of all the heathen, which are called by my name, saith\r\nthe LORD that doeth this.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/sup><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that the plowman shall\r\novertake the reaper, and the treader of grapes him that soweth seed; and the\r\nmountains shall drop sweet wine, and all the hills shall melt. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/sup>And I will bring\r\nagain the captivity of my people of Israel, and they shall build the waste\r\ncities, and inhabit them<\/i>; and they shall plant vineyards, and drink the\r\nwine thereof; they shall also make gardens, and eat the fruit of them. And I\r\nwill plant them upon their land, and they shall no more be pulled up out of\r\ntheir land which I have given them, saith the LORD thy God.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

You\r\nsee what happens, don\u2019t you, when the Tabernacle of David is restored?\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>The same rulership returns that existed with\r\nDavid. \u00a0<\/span>The same prosperity returns to\r\nthe land that existed when 24 hours of praise and worship went forth.\u00a0 <\/span>What you have is the picture of a people\r\nwhose focus and pursuit is the heart of the Lord being fulfilled.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Now\r\nwe see the promise to the Ekklesia in Philadelphia because their heart\u2019s desire\r\nis the heart of the Lord being completed and fulfilled. Before we go there,\r\ntake one more look at Isaiah\u2019s prophecy concerning the Tabernacle of David.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Isaiah 16:5<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>And\r\nin mercy shall the throne be established: and He<\/u> shall sit upon it in\r\ntruth in the tabernacle of David, judging, and seeking judgment, and hasting\r\nrighteousness.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>(emphasis, mine)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

When\r\nIsaiah begins this particular prophecy, he opens up with a revealing statement,\r\nand it makes clear the \u201cHe\u201d in verse 5 is the Lamb.\u00a0 <\/span>Take a look.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Isaiah 16:1<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span>Send ye the Lamb<\/u>\r\nto the ruler of the land from Sela<\/span> to the wilderness,\r\nunto the mount of the daughter of Zion. <\/span>(emphasis, mine)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Notice\r\nwhere the Lamb is sent: to the \u201cmount of the daughter of Zion.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>Isaiah frequently uses this phraseology to\r\ndescribe the difference between Israel as a whole, and the place of the Bride \u2014\r\nor the Tabernacle of David.\u00a0 <\/span>Whenever you\r\nsee Isaiah use this phrase, \u201cthe daughter of Zion,\u201d he is referring to that\r\ncore of overcoming people who represent the Bride of Christ.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n
