I\u2019ve said this before, and I\u2019ll say it again.\u00a0\u00a0Few\r\npeople in this age and generation really understand what it is to be joined\r\ntogether by the Lord in a union that is more than physical.\u00a0\u00a0People\r\noften get married because they \u201cfall in love.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0The problem is that\r\nin a few months or years, they \u201cfall out of love.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0Their\r\nrelationship really wasn\u2019t based on love but on a physical attraction to one\r\nanother or because of seeming parallel interests.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The concept of \u201ccounterpart\u201d and \u201cother self\u201d is mostly lost in\r\ntoday\u2019s society.\u00a0\u00a0The idea that the Lord joins people together\r\nbecause of what He sees, knows, and purposes for the future is something that\r\nthe majority of Christians really don\u2019t know or understand.\u00a0\u00a0We were\r\ncreated for God\u2019s pleasure.\u00a0\u00a0Because of that, He has created a\r\ndistinct husband and distinct wife for each other who will likewise bring\r\npleasure to each other, but also bring pleasure to Him.\u00a0\u00a0We will\r\ncontinue to elaborate and amplify this picture in this series as we progress.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

As already noted, we\u00a0were created for the express purpose\r\nof bringing delight and pleasure to the Lord.\u00a0\u00a0Of course we were to\r\nbe His family. We were created in His likeness and image. But we were created to\r\nbring the kind of praise and worship that only He could develop within us.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

I\u2019ve shared with you in the past my experience of being in the\r\nGarden and being transported there by the Spirit.\u00a0\u00a0I was there when\r\nthe temptation took place.\u00a0\u00a0The expression on Adam\u2019s face was one of\r\nhorror, shock, astonishment \u2014 words don\u2019t do justice to what I saw \u2014 when he\r\nsaw Eve take a bite of the fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and\r\nEvil.\u00a0\u00a0When you realize how she was created, when you realize that she\r\nwas created as that counterpart, that \u201cother self\u201d of Adam, that\u00a0<\/span>neged<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>, it makes\r\nyou appreciate Adam\u2019s reaction.\u00a0\u00a0Eve\u2019s partaking of the fruit was not\r\nonly disobedience to the Word of the Lord,<\/span> it was a\r\nbetrayal of her relationship to him.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Eve, therefore, had to become the prototype of the overcoming\r\nBride.\u00a0\u00a0The Lord promised that it would be her seed that would crush\r\nthe serpent\u2019s head.\u00a0\u00a0That promise, that prophecy was fulfilled in\r\nJesus.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

From Jesus\u2019 side as He hung on the Cross came blood and water\r\nwhen the centurion pierced His side.\u00a0\u00a0With that blood and water came<\/span> the birth of the Bride who would be the overcomer<\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Consider the first place that this overcoming Bride\r\nfaced.\u00a0\u00a0We see it in the letter to Ephesus.\u00a0\u00a0The promise to\r\nthe overcomer<\/span> (this is those who have lost their\r\nfirst love) is the restoration of access to the Tree of Life in the midst of\r\nthe Garden.\u00a0\u00a0Each of the successive letters takes the Bride through\r\novercoming all of the things that the curse brought on the human\r\nrace.\u00a0\u00a0It represents overcoming each of the three families of\r\nfear.\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

We come to the sixth letter, addressed to Philadelphia, and we\r\nsee the Key of David.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The seventh letter to Laodicea is a warning to all those who\r\nhave made it through the sixth area of overcoming, and because of the power,\r\nthe authority, the presence of the Lord they\u2019ve experienced, they become\r\ncomplacent.\u00a0\u00a0They cease to press on and maintain the overcoming\r\nmindset.\u00a0\u00a0They don\u2019t give up exactly,<\/span> they\r\njust become wearied in the continual press and settle back believing that\r\nthey\u2019ve reached the pinnacle of success.\u00a0\u00a0It doesn\u2019t work that way.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Revelation 21:7<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0<\/span>He that overcometh<\/span> shall inherit all things; and I will be his God,\r\nand he shall be my son.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The picture of overcoming occurs eight times in\r\nRevelation.\u00a0\u00a0John uses this word three other times in I John 5.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

I John 5:4:\u00a0<\/span>For whatsoever is born of God overcometh<\/span> the world: and this is the victory that overcometh<\/span> the world,\u00a0even<\/i>\u00a0our faith.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The ability to overcome, and be that overcoming Bride, is\r\npredicated in faith.\u00a0\u00a0Simply put, our ability to continue the\r\novercoming process is based in the fact that faith comes by hearing and hearing\r\nby the Word of God.\u00a0\u00a0When we are sensitive to hearing the voice of\r\nthe Lord, He speaks.\u00a0\u00a0That speaking generates a driving force within\r\nus that enables us to keep on overcoming and acting on His Word.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

We come back to the letter to Laodicea as the example of this\r\nfailure.\u00a0\u00a0They became desensitized to hearing the Word of the Lord,\r\nand as a result, failed to continue in the overcoming process.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The entire book of Revelation is built upon an overcoming\r\npeople.\u00a0\u00a0We have picture after picture after picture of events that\r\nwill come in this transitional age prior to the thousand year reign \u2014 events\r\nthat require the Bride of Christ to live a constant overcoming\r\nlife.\u00a0\u00a0What was it that John wrote in Revelation 12?<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Revelation 12:10-11<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0<\/span>And I heard a\r\nloud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the\r\nkingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our\r\nbrethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/sup><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb,<\/span>\r\nand by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the\r\ndeath.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

We\u2019ve really gone around a 40-acre field today with this study,\r\nbut if you see what is happening, it is absolutely revelatory. What began as a\r\npromise to Eve and was fulfilled in Jesus Christ when He hung on the Cross with\r\nhis side pierced through and blood and water pouring forth, is now being\r\nfulfilled in us as the overcoming Bride.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

We began the overcoming process in the letter to Ephesus, and took\r\nit through all seven letters to the picture in Revelation 12 where we have cast\r\ndown the accuser of the brethren.\u00a0\u00a0That brings us to Revelation 19.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Revelation 19:5-8<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0<\/span>And a voice\r\ncame out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye\r\nthat fear him, both small and great.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>And I heard\r\nas it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and\r\nas the voice of mighty thunderings<\/span>, saying, Alleluia<\/span>: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth<\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour<\/span>\r\nto him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come,<\/span>\r\nand\u00a0his wife hath made herself ready<\/u>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>And to her\r\nwas granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the\r\nfine linen<\/span> is the righteousness of saints.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

How was it that \u201cHis wife hath made herself ready?\u201d How was it\r\nthat she could not be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white?<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Simple.<\/span><\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

She overcame EVERYTHING.\u00a0\u00a0She\r\npersisted.\u00a0\u00a0She didn\u2019t quit.\u00a0\u00a0She didn\u2019t fade under the\r\nconstant persecution, the attacks of the Enemy, the accusations pointed against\r\nher.\u00a0\u00a0She stood fast.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

That, my friends, is exactly what the Lord has been looking for\r\nin a people that will surround Him, a people that will surround the Throne, a\r\npeople who KNOW what it means to praise and worship.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Now, do you understand the Tabernacle of David?\u00a0\u00a0Do\r\nyou see what David saw?\u00a0\u00a0Do you see what God is looking for in praisers<\/span> and worshipers?\u00a0\u00a0We have a destiny for\r\neternity that involves being before and around the Throne of\r\nGod.\u00a0\u00a0The Key of David was in knowing the heart and heart\u2019s desire of\r\nthe Lord for a people who would minister to Him in worship!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Here\u2019s the grand finale!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Revelation 22:1-5<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0<\/span>And he showed\r\nme a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the\r\nthrone of God and of the Lamb. In the midst of the street of it, and on either\r\nside of the river,\u00a0was there<\/i>\u00a0the tree of life, which bare\r\ntwelve\u00a0manner<\/i><\/span> of<\/i>\u00a0fruits,\u00a0and<\/i>\u00a0yielded\r\nher fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree\u00a0were<\/i>\u00a0for the\r\nhealing of the nations.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

And there shall be no more curse<\/span>: but\r\nthe throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and\u00a0his servants\r\nshall serve him: And they shall see his face; and his name\u00a0shall be<\/i>\u00a0in\r\ntheir foreheads<\/u>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/sup><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle,\r\nneither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth<\/span>\r\nthem light: and they shall reign for ever<\/span> and ever.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Do you see where the Tabernacle of David leads us\r\nto?\u00a0\u00a0We SHALL serve Him!\u00a0\u00a0We SHALL see His\r\nface!\u00a0\u00a0His onoma<\/span>, His character, His\r\npersonality, the essence of Who<\/span> He is will be written\r\nin our minds, our thoughts, our whole personality!\u00a0\u00a0We worship Him!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

We continue dealing with the relationship of the Bride to the\r\nBridegroom.\u00a0\u00a0How that plays into our creation as worshipers is a\r\nsubject that still has a ways to go.\u00a0\u00a0I thought that I had covered it\r\nfairly well but Holy Spirit, as usual, began unfolding more of it to me even\r\nwhile I was still sharing.\u00a0\u00a0That said,<\/span> I won\u2019t\r\nmake any assumptions of how far we will take this topic.\u00a0\u00a0We\u2019ll just\r\nkeep moving along until Holy Spirit indicates that we\u2019ve covered it\r\nsufficiently.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Proverbs 18:22<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0<\/span>\u201c[Whoso]\u00a0<\/span>findeth<\/span><\/span>\u00a0a\r\nwife\u00a0<\/span>findeth<\/span><\/span>\u00a0a good\r\n[thing], and obtaineth<\/span> favour<\/span>\r\nof the LORD.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Anybody who has attended a wedding has \u2014 in all probability \u2014\r\nheard this verse quoted.\u00a0\u00a0The problem is that we hear this with our\r\nnatural ears and don\u2019t understand the context of what Holy Spirit is actually.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

What I am saying is that the English word, \u201cwife,\u201d is going\r\nthrough changes as with any language.\u00a0\u00a0This next generation coming up\r\nwill hear something much different when they hear the word wife than what our\r\ngeneration thought when we heard the word wife.\u00a0\u00a0My point being that\r\njust because your lexicons and Bible dictionaries are written over a hundred\r\nyears ago call the word,\u00a0<\/span>ishah<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>,\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/b>a wife does not mean that what\r\nwe view as a wife is what the ancients viewed as a wife.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Let me ask you this.\u00a0\u00a0One must find a\r\nwife.\u00a0\u00a0That fits today but even a hundred years ago and even today in\r\ncertain cultures men do not<\/span>\r\n<\/span>find a\u00a0<\/span>wife, their marriages are arranged, somebody<\/span> else finds the wife for them.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Strangely enough, there are eleven words in Hebrew that are\r\nrendered \u201cwife.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0We have the picture of Jacob who married both Leah\r\nand Rachel.\u00a0\u00a0Both are referred to as \u201cwives.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0There is a\r\ncatch here.\u00a0\u00a0Both are rendered as \u201cishah<\/span>\u201d\r\nbecause they were viewed in Jacob\u2019s eyes as his wives.\u00a0\u00a0The problem\r\nis that God created man and woman to have one mate.\u00a0\u00a0In God\u2019s eyes,\r\nonly one could be Jacob\u2019s wife.\u00a0\u00a0That was Rachel.\u00a0\u00a0She\r\nloved and adored Jacob, and he loved and adored her.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Leah was forced upon Jacob as part of a contract, and while\r\nJacob came to love her, the relationship was far from the same.\u00a0\u00a0It\r\nwas not the same kind of love, nor did their relationship have the same kind of\r\ntrust and intimacy that Jacob had with Rachel.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

So, in God\u2019s eyes, when is someone married?<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>When are you<\/span> officially married or betrothed to Jesus?<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>Jesus has\r\ngiven you an offer of marriage, a proposal if you prefer.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>Just as that\r\nyoung man holds out a ring and says \u201cWill you?\u201d and she wilts.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>So is\r\nmarriage for life?<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>Well, is our salvation for eternity?<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Why does Jesus offer this relationship to us in the first\r\nplace?\u00a0\u00a0What is it all about? Because the true wife\r\nsurrounds the husband with her love, her protection \u2014 everything that is in\r\nher.<\/span><\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Remember this illustration?<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The word for \u201cmeet\u201d (as in help meet) is,\u00a0<\/span>neged<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>.\u00a0\u00a0While\r\none of the meanings of this word is \u201ccounterpart\u201d or \u201cother self,\u201d it goes well\r\nbeyond that.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>Neged<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>\u00a0is used as a military\r\nterm.\u00a0\u00a0It represents:\u00a0<\/span>a front, a defense, over\r\nagainst, before<\/span>.\u00a0\u00a0In other words,\u00a0<\/span>this is someone who will be\r\nyour defense, someone who will die for you if necessary, someone who opposes\r\nyour enemies, someone<\/span> who provides every kind of\r\nassistance necessary<\/span>.\u00a0\u00a0In another sense,\u00a0<\/span>this is\r\nsomeone who will become the praise of your existence<\/span>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

I quote once again from the scholar, Chaim<\/span>\r\nBenTorah<\/span>:<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

My point is, in the eyes of God a wife not one who signs a legal\r\ncontract and makes a vow.\u00a0\u00a0A wife is one whom the man loves and she\r\nloves him in return and a vow is made in love.\u00a0\u00a0So within the proper\r\nand emotional context Proverbs 18:22 should read:<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u201cFind a woman who loves you and is committed to you and you have<\/span> found a good thing.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Ouch, that good thing hurts.\u00a0\u00a0For one thing, the word\r\nthing is not in the Hebrew text, it is only the word,\u00a0<\/span>tov<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>,\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/b>which means good.\u00a0I check\r\n26 modern translations and 18 say good thing. Translated by\r\nmen obviously.<\/span> The rest say simply good. Adequate,\r\nacceptable, ok.<\/span> Not great, not excellent, just good. The Living Bible\r\nrenders it as finding a treasure.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

That, folks, is what God intended in the first\r\nplace.\u00a0\u00a0The word,\u00a0<\/span>tov<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>, is more\r\nthan \u201cgood.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0It literally means:\u00a0<\/span>to be in harmony.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>Hence, he who\r\nfinds a loving,<\/span> committed wife \u2014 one who literally\r\nbecomes his counterpart, his \u201cother self,\u201d finds someone who can bring him into\r\nharmony with God.\u00a0\u00a0The end result is that he\/they will find favor\r\nwith God.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Before I continue, let me insert something that some may see as\r\ncontroversial.\u00a0\u00a0On second thought, <\/span>let\u2019s<\/span> save it for next\r\nweek.\u00a0\u00a0Sorry to leave you hanging, but it would launch a part of this\r\ndiscussion that would make today\u2019s Coffee Break a bit too lengthy, so\u2026\u2026See you\r\nnext week!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n
