\r\n<\/span><\/b>There, how's that for\r\na good morning greeting.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/b>Awwww<\/span><\/b><\/span>, well... Anyway...grab that fresh cup of coffee\r\nfrom your French Press coffee maker, or that cup of super hot\u00a0<\/span><\/b>Expresso<\/span><\/b><\/span>.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Maybe you've\r\nbeen wondering when we're going to finish the discussion on Kingdom Economics\r\n-- and really, I thought I'd get back to it before this -- but it looks like it\r\nwill wait and resume after the first of the year.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

It was nearly\r\nfour years ago that I published a series of Coffee Breaks titled, \"The\r\nScience and Spirit of Sound.\"\u00a0 That Coffee Break series was\r\npredicated in large part on an earlier\u00a0<\/span><\/b>OPEN LETTER\r\nTO THE EKKLESIA<\/span><\/i><\/b>\u00a0I had written and distributed back in the\r\nmid-1990's in which I dealt with the significance of sound and the spiritual\r\nforce behind it.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Many of you\r\nknow that I've had a long background in engineering and\u00a0<\/span><\/b>research<\/span><\/b>\u00a0and -- for a period of several years -- in the\r\nfield of audio research.\u00a0 Got to thinking about it this morning and\r\nrealized that I was probably around seventeen years of age when I first began\r\nseriously experimenting in the field of acoustics, playing with loudspeaker\r\ncabinet design and acoustic-wave theory.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

My audio\r\nresearch continued on through some of my college years and beyond, and in the\r\nmid-to-late 1960's a former college buddy, Allen Parker, and I formed an\r\nacoustic research company --\u00a0<\/span><\/b>Alpac<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>\u00a0Audio<\/span><\/i><\/b>.\u00a0 We developed\r\ntogether what we referred to as \"3-Dimensional Sound\" -- an early\r\npredecessor to today's Dolby Surround -- and traveled around the country\r\nintroducing the concept to various manufacturers.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\"3-Dimensional\r\nSound\" was actually achieved with only two, albeit perfectly balanced and\r\naccurately phased loudspeakers.\u00a0 We were able to create a soundstage far\r\nwider than the speaker placement and reproduce the sounds which appeared to be\r\ncoming out of thin air where no speakers existed.\u00a0 I won't get into the technical\r\nissues or\u00a0<\/span><\/b>specs on the\r\nsystem because that's not what this Coffee Break is<\/span><\/b><\/span>\u00a0about.\u00a0\r\nI simply share this as a foundation for where I want to take this (and perhaps\r\none or more additional Coffee Breaks) discussion and to perhaps establish a\r\nbasis in both scientific fact and spiritual law.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

As a lifelong\r\nmusician and recording engineer, sound has been an integral part of my\r\nlife.\u00a0 At least nine out of every ten mornings, I will\u00a0<\/span><\/b>a waken<\/span><\/b><\/span>\u00a0with\r\nthe sound of Heaven flowing through my spirit with new music.\u00a0 It is and\r\nhas been perhaps the most actively creative part of my life.\u00a0 (Some people\r\nthink it is my writing, but that's just because they haven't been around me\r\nmuch.\u00a0 (Grin.)<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Della is\r\nlikewise creative when it comes to music.\u00a0 There are many times when she\r\nsits down at the synthesizer keyboard, closes her eyes, and just begins to\r\nworship as the Spirit of the Lord flows through her with new sounds and new\r\nwords.\u00a0 We flow together this way.\u00a0 But there is purpose and\r\ndirection in the sound that comes forth.\u00a0 Between the two of us, the Holy\r\nSpirit has given hundreds of new songs -- Psalms (set to new music), Hymns, and\r\nSpiritual Songs -- more than a few of which have become part of the repertoire\r\nof praise and worship in churches around the world.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

We understand\r\nthat literally everything God ever created began with the sound of His\r\nvoice.\u00a0 We also understand that we've been created in His image and\r\nlikeness and imbued with His same creative ability.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Our world\r\ntoday has so corrupted and contaminated sound that we've lost sight -- and in\r\nlarge part, the creative use -- of the ability God gave us.\u00a0 We are\r\nsurrounded with so much sound it has become cacophonous.\u00a0 It is nothing\r\nbut destructive noise!<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

We turn on\r\nthe television and get bombarded with every kind of sound -- most of it (as\r\nnoted in previous Coffee Breaks) designed to entice, persuade and manipulate us\r\ninto believing things that are not true, have no life, and deceive us into\r\ncommitting sin, buying something we don't need or want, or wasting time in\r\nunproductive endeavors.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Why is\r\nthis?\u00a0 What has happened to the human race?\u00a0 More than that, what has\r\nhappened that the Body of Christ has so lost sight (and use) of the gift of God\r\nHe has made available to us through Jesus Christ?<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

I've shared\r\nthis personal translation of the Greek text of II Corinthians 10:3-5 before but\r\nlet me refresh you.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\"For\r\nthough we live, deport and comport ourselves by that which we see, hear, taste,\r\nsmell and touch, we do not contend with, war after and execute military\r\nstrategies [against Satan] by that which we see and hear, know intellectually,\r\nor have opinions\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/b>of:For<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>\u00a0the weapons and\r\ninstruments of our war and executed actions [against Satan] do not have their\r\norigins and [weak, impotent] operation in natural flesh and human abilities, but\r\nthey are skillful, potent and powerful \u2013 like dynamite \u2013 through God to the\r\ndemolition and extinction of all fortified and guarded places of opinions in\r\nopposition,<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\"Bringing\r\ndown violently and demolishing (to total extinction) all mental\u00a0<\/i><\/span><\/b>reasonings<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>\u00a0and\r\nthought processes, and every mental barrier or arrogant and self-elevated\r\nattitude that justifies itself in opposition to the knowledge of God; bringing\r\ninto captivity and making a prisoner every perception of the intellect and\r\nevery mental purpose or determination to the compliance and submission of\r\nChrist and His anointing [in the same way that He complied with the will and\r\ndesire of the Father].\"<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Now, let's\r\nput that together with Ephesians 6:12.\u00a0 The KJV reads like this:\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\"For\u00a0we\r\nwrestle not<\/u>\u00a0against flesh and blood, but against principalities,\r\nagainst powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against\r\nspiritual wickedness in high places.\"<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0The\r\nphrase, \"we wrestle not\" is an extraordinary phrase in the Greek\r\ntext.\u00a0 The Greek uses a musical term -- or more accurately, a conjunctive\r\nword which denotes \"sound,\"\u00a0<\/span><\/b>esti<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>-pale<\/span><\/i><\/b>\u00a0(from\r\nits root,\u00a0<\/span><\/b>pallo<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>).\u00a0 This\r\nword more literally translates:\u00a0<\/span><\/b>to vibrate<\/span><\/u><\/b>; and it\r\ndraws a picture of two sounds in opposition to each other.\u00a0 The wrestling,\r\nliterally, is the opposition of the sounds of Satan against the sound of the\r\nLord.\u00a0 (We'll come back to this, momentarily.)<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

From a purely\r\nscientific perspective, all energy beginning at 0 cycles per second (or hertz)\r\nand increasing in frequency through the audio spectrum, the sub-RF and RF\r\nspectrums, electro-magnetic energy, HF, VHF, UHF, Microwave and beyond into the\r\nrealm of visible and invisible light -- all of it -- is sound-based.\u00a0 If\r\nwe had ears that could hear at those frequencies, we could hear light.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

I was just\r\nthinking back to a discussion I had with a Canadian astrophysicist in 1994 when\r\nthe comet, Shoemaker-Levy, after breaking apart, struck the planet Jupiter 21\r\ntimes over a period of seven days.\u00a0 He noted that -- were it possible for\r\nsound to travel in space -- this event created a series of low-frequency\r\nelectro-magnetic shock waves equivalent to sound that spread throughout our\r\ngalaxy.\u00a0 Though our ears didn't hear it the earth did, and there were both\r\ntidal and weather phenomena that followed in the months thereafter.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Sound,\r\nwhether we hear it or not, is an integral part of our existence.\u00a0 Sound\r\nholds things together.\u00a0 Here's how the apostle Paul put it.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\"God, who\r\nat sundry times and in divers manners\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/b>spake<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>\u00a0in time past unto the\r\nfathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son,\r\nwhom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; Who\r\nbeing the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person,\r\nand\u00a0upholding all things by the word of his power<\/u>, when he had by\r\nhimself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on\r\nhigh.\"<\/span><\/i><\/b>\u00a0 (Hebrews 1:1-3)<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Did you catch\r\nthat?\u00a0 He is \"upholding all things (the Greek word used here is\u00a0<\/span><\/b>phero<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>: meaning\r\nto\u00a0energize and hold together cohesively<\/u>) by the word (<\/span><\/b>rhema<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>:\u00a0sound\r\nof His word, the speaking forth<\/u>) of His power (<\/span><\/b>dunamis<\/span><\/i><\/b>:force<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/span>, might,\r\nmiraculous power<\/span><\/u><\/b>).\"\u00a0 He energizes and holds everything\r\ntogether cohesively by the sound of His Word going forth.\u00a0 Because He is God,\r\nit is the sound of His power, not the other way around.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Most folks\r\nthink of it as the power of His Word, but that's not the way Paul phrases\r\nit.\u00a0 It is the Word, the Sound of His Word of the power inherent in His\r\nvery being.\u00a0 Thus we exist because of sound -- the Sound of the Lord.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

When you stop\r\nto consider, this is how creation began.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/b>With sound.<\/span><\/b><\/span>\u00a0 The\r\nsound of His Word went forth, \"Light BE!\"\u00a0 And light was.\u00a0\r\nEverything about the creation of this world and all that is therein (with the exception\r\nof man -- and we'll get to that) began with sound going forth -- the sound of\r\nHis Word.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Light,\r\ntherefore, began with sound.\u00a0 Maybe you think I'm wearing this issue thin,\r\nbut bear with me.\u00a0 There is a point to this.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Jesus put it\r\nlike this,\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\"I am the light of the world: he that\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/b>followeth<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>\u00a0after me\r\nshall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.\"<\/span><\/i><\/b>\u00a0 (John\r\n8:12)<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Again He\r\nsaid,\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\"As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the\r\nworld.\"<\/span><\/i><\/b>\u00a0 (John 9:5)<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Now,\r\njuxtapose those statements with the way John began his Gospel.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\"In the\r\nbeginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.\u00a0\r\nThe same was in the beginning with God.\u00a0 All things were made by Him; and\r\nwithout Him was not anything made that was made.\"<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Then John\r\nputs sound and light together.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\"In Him\r\nwas life, and the life was the light of men.\"<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Are you\r\nseeing it?\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/b>Sound.<\/span><\/b><\/span>\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/b>Light.<\/span><\/b><\/span>\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/b>Life.<\/span><\/b><\/span>\u00a0 They\r\nare inseparable.\u00a0 They go together.\u00a0 You can't have one without the\r\nother.\u00a0 Light exists because of sound.\u00a0 Sound exists with\r\nlight.\u00a0 Life is both light and sound.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Ever notice\r\nthe difference at Creation between the way God made the earth, the universe,\r\nand all that is therein, and the way He made man?\u00a0 Genesis 2:7 tells us\r\nthat God \"formed\" (the Hebrew word is\u00a0<\/span><\/b>yatsar<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>: to mold, to\r\nsqueeze into shape, to fashion with determined purpose) man.\u00a0 It is the\r\nfirst time during the entire creation sequence that God departs from the\r\ndeclarative commands to \"BE\" in order to accomplish His creative\r\ndesign.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Thus God took\r\nparticular care and purpose in man's creation.\u00a0 After all, the entire\r\ncreative operation was intended to create an environment for man in the first\r\nplace.\u00a0 Man was not simply a generic part of creation; he was the\r\nreason.\u00a0 And the objective for man's creation is revealed in Genesis\r\n1:26-28.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

First of all,\r\nFather, Son and Holy Spirit took counsel together in this.\u00a0 It was the\r\nunified decision that a species of being would come into existence who would be\r\nexactly like God, functioning in three dimensions simultaneously and having the\r\npower of creative speech and creative sound --\u00a0just like God!<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Thus, man's\r\nexistence came into being first by God taking deliberate and specific care in\r\ncreating\u00a0<\/span><\/b>him.and<\/span><\/b><\/span>\u00a0molding\r\nhim.\u00a0 Then He breathed into man His own breath -- that same breath with\r\nwhich He generated the commanding sounds of Creation.\u00a0 (See Genesis\r\n2:7)\u00a0 And the very first thing man heard was the sound of the Lord's Voice\r\ncreating in him the empowerment to do what God did: create with His voice.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\"And God\r\nblessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish\r\nthe earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over\r\nthe fowl of the air, and over every living thing that\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/b>moveth<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>\u00a0upon the\r\nearth.\"\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/b>(Genesis 1:28)<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Do you see\r\nit?\u00a0 The very first thing God did was to bless them -- to declare and\r\ndecree in them the empowerment to prosper, to accomplish everything they\r\ndesired.\u00a0 The second thing God did was to declare and decree dominion in\r\nthem -- His authority -- to rule over every living thing upon the earth (except\r\nman, of course, and that's an important distinction we'll get into later).<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Next the Lord\r\nsays to them,\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\"Behold, I have given you every herb bearing\r\nseed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/b>the which<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>\u00a0is the\r\nfruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.\u00a0 And to every\r\nbeast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/b>every thing<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>\u00a0that\u00a0creepeth\u00a0upon\r\nthe earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for\r\nmeat:\"\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/b>(Verses 29 & 30)<\/span><\/b>\u00a0 And<\/span><\/b><\/span>\u00a0He finishes it off by\r\nconfirming,\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\"and it was so.\"<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Thus God\r\nconfirmed the decrees of blessing He had imparted with the sound of His Voice\r\ninto man.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

In our next\r\nCoffee Break, we will expand on this concept and show the relationship between\r\nthe sound that comes forth from us and the creative power of God that operates\r\nin and through us.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Things are not\r\nwhat they seem to be:\u00a0they're what God\u00a0says<\/u>\u00a0they\r\nare.\u00a0 The sound of His Word going forth is what determines the difference\r\nbetween light and darkness, life and death, health or sickness and disease,\r\npoverty or prosperity.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The Blessing\r\nof the Lord: it makes rich and He adds no painful toil and sorrow!<\/span><\/i><\/b>\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/b>(Proverbs\r\n10:22)\u00a0 Be blessed!<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n
